This was our first trip to this place. We will never go back! They placed us in the back of the restaurant after a 35 minute wait. 5 empty tables around us empty, short staffed. We waited 15 minutes and no server came to the table. After going to the hostess station, someone stepped up to get our drink order. Server never came back to give the check. I have ate at various locations over the years. Dined here after the dinner rush. Was greeted at front door and seated right away. Waitress immediately came over and greeted us. Had smothered steak tips. Tips were fine. Onions were more on the raw side. Other toppings were cooked fine. Waitress didn't come back till I was almost done with my meal. Ate lunch at the bar on a slow Sunday afternoon, I ordered a burger with cole slaw (gave up fries for Lent) and my girlfriend got a chicken caesar salad. With a view of the kitchen prep area we could see that the caeser was ready (took 30 minutes, but we weren't in a hurry) - but it soon became obvious they had forgot about my burger. The bartender asked about my order, brought out the salad, and informed me it would be right up. 6 minutes later my burger arrived (I ordered medium, it came well-done) with a side of fries instead of cole slaw. The cheese was still cold. I kindly explained to the bartender that I knew it wasn't her fault, but multiple things had gone wrong with my order and I wasn't overly thrilled. She apologized and said things were always wrong in the kitchen and would comp. the burger. The manager then came over and asked if he could do anything for us, I thanked him and just asked for the bill. Naturally they did not comp. the burger, so I left 10% tip and vowed never to return. read more

This is a really average place, though by no means bad, to grab a quick dinner. They serve your typical chain restaurant food at pretty reasonable prices, and it comes with the gimmicky 99 rules thing, which is fun the first time. Nice waitstaff at this one. Good location. Easy parking. read more

Wow! Just out of here and loved it. Superb chicken panini and the hummous appetizer plate and its very reasonably priced for lunch. Since it our neighbour, we surely will br back here. My niece liked the fried chicken and my wife loved the steak tips. However, I was disappointed with the lobster roll. The service was great. My family loves going to the 99 Restaurant. Waltham is a great location, great staff, great food. We always have a pleasant experience there. My personal favorite is the balsamic glaze salmon with veggies on the side. The kids meal comes with dessert and kids eat free when the Red Sox win and on Sundays during special events. You can always get a coupon for $5.00 or 20% off your entire bill. What's not to love? The food is served in a good amount of time - enough time to chat before digging in! read more

I usually LOVE the 99, but have recently been very disappointed in customer service. I ordered a honey barbecue chicken wrap, and was dismayed to find that it had a BONE in it. I almost choked on it, and it hurt my teeth (one of them had a bond on it from a previous chip and it damaged the bond). I emailed the 99 to follow up, and was told I had a received a complimentary gift card, and they were "sure I would have gotten it by now". I've checked my mailbox every day and still no gift card. I emailed them to follow up, not once but TWICE within a week period....still no response. So basically, my teeth were damaged, they have unsanitary food standards, and they promised a gift card, but never delivered. I want to clarify this is a review of the management and customer service at the restaurant, not the other staff. read more

I always hate giving a bad review but tonight my boyfriend and I went to the 99 for dinner and I am seriously considering not going back. The 5-10 mins wait when we got there wasn't bad. We sat down the waitress came over with popcorn and got our drink order. I asked for a Diet Coke and a water and only got the diet. We order an app of boneless buffalo tenders that came out really quick and they were very good. My boyfriend ordered an all star burger with no tomatoes and of course when he got it it had tomatoes. I ordered the Vermont cheddar burger with no caramelized onions and of course there were the onions. I would have just scraped them off but I didn't want to lose the cheese. I informed our waitress and she took it back to the kitchen. She came back to apologize and said they were making a new one. Waited about 15 mins for a "new" one which was just my old burger with the onions scrapped off. How do I know this you ask... Well before I sent my burger back I cut it in half when I got it back it was still cut in half. And it was cold. At this point I was just annoyed. The waitress came back we told her that I was all set with it. Of course they took it off the bill but I hate going out to dinner and leaving still hungry. The service here has really gone down hill. I took my 4-year-old son out for a little walk around the neighborhood and figured we'll stop in here for a quick lunch. He got chicken fingers and fries. I got bacon cheese burger and fries. It took longer than we expected since there were, literally, 8 other tables there. I counted when my con asked why it was taking so long for his food. When the food finally came, my son's fries were on the cooled side. I guess it's ok since that allowed him to stuffed his empty stomach right away. The burger was OK. I was cooked to my request, but it was kinda small. It was like a slider and a half. It filled me, but for $9, I expected a bit more. Then I noticed my son was gobbling up the fries but only took two bites of the chicken. I told him, "look. this is good. see? (took a bite)". Nope, it wasn't good. It was extremely bland. I understand it's a kid's meal, but put a pinch of salt in there or something! I managed to get him to finish 1 and half finger before we took off. Overall the experience was just OK. It's an OK place if you're in the area and need some food. But be prepared to wait. read more

The staff is really nice and the food is good but the drinks are absolutely awful. They dont contain any alcohol whatsoever and will most likely give you heartburn from all the sugar and mix in them. I've been here many times over the years without complaint but recently it's just awful. All my favorites are gone from the menu. I know they do change their menu but EVERYTHING I like? Last night the restaurant was 1/2 empty yet we waited 30 minutes for a table. Their explanation was th as the the kitchen couldn't keep up. At least 15 people exited the restaurant before we finally got a seat. Dirty utensils on the table. The seltzer tastes like tap water with fizz added. Undrinkable. All that being said our waiter was excellent. The food was ok. Out of the dessert I wanted (5PM in a 1/2 empty restaurant. I hope management gets their act together and starts running this restaurant more efficiently. I feel bad for the employees who have to keep apologizing to the patrons (heard it a # of times). read more

I had VERY low expectations yet was pleasantly surprised! The place is always packed at night and thus I do take out weekly. It is a VERY good value for the $. The $9.99 specials are plentiful, tasty & consistent. Steaks, fish & chicken dishes were a pleasant surprise with decent sides. I always have excellent service and the curbside pickup is so convenient. The burgers, salads & sandwiches are also tasty and the obligatory pub fare like fish & chips are very good. Had a dinner party of 15 with 12 adults, 3 adults had 2 beers each and 2 ladies had a cocktail. To our surprise we ordered more drinks and the manager came along and informed us that we could not be served any more drinks. i questioned his logic and reasons for denial of service and practically he gave me none...it made no sense none of us was out of control or was drinking excessively. We felt we were treated very very unfairly because of our color and the reason i would only say that is the manager had no reason for denying us a drink all he kept saying was he apologies (for what) We were indirectly kicked out of the restaurant by the manger and his staff by not clearing the tables after our meal and denying us drinks. Just because we are of different color that does not mean we can't afford or be treated like trash. i don't think any white party would have been treated like this ... i have lost hope in 99 and i will continue to inform anyone about this experience read more

Stick with the beer... I ordered a margarita here and it was about 99% sour mix with a splash of tequila. Maybe that's why they call it the 99. However, the tall boy drafts are fantastic. Very cold. Then the waitress comes over and offers 10cent wings and some sort of steak dinner then goes to get our drinks. Comes back to take our order and oh sorry we are all out of wings. Tells the guy at the table next to me they are all out of the steak dinner when he goes to order. We order and my son pointed out how something looked good on the menu after he had ordered. Three meals got brought out to us. He didn't order it, we weren't asked if we wanted it or had our order read back to us to confirm what we had got. So now instead of coming in for some half priced appetizers and having a cheap dinner I am on the hook for three meals. Definitely not what it used to be that's for sure. read more
