This place is consistently outstanding, at least the one on Route 110 on the Chelmsford/Lowell line!! If I could give 6 stars, I would! The popcorn on the table is a nice touch. The menu is extensive and everything I've tried is delicious, ribs, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Turkey Tips (sadly no longer on their menu), mashed potatoes, well-seasoned fresh fries, Cole slaw, burgers, honey mustard crispy chicken salad, mango iced tea, petite treat desserts). The portions are generous and the prices range from inexpensive to fair (from about $15-30 for an entree). The wait staff are attentive. The service is efficient. Even the music is refreshingly nostalgic! I've rediscovered Michelle Branch thanks to 99. :) The sports memorabilia is cool! Spacious parking lot! Our food was very disappointing. My chicken parm was overbattered , difficult to cut. My son & husbands fish and chip was so over battered with dough which a good portion was raw dough. Whatever cook was working did not have proper training or just dough crazy!!! We usually come here upon returning my son to college. 99 restaurants are usually consistent but not this one!! I visited this location less than a week ago and the food and service while dining in were great. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my credit card behind. When I called, I spoke with Kiley, who confirmed they had it and that it would be kept safely in the office. A few days later, since I don't live in the area, I made the trip back to pick it up--only to be told no one knew where it was. The manager on duty was polite and quickly reached out to the manager from that night, who said the card should be in a grey box. Still, it couldn't be located. I was given the GM Christopher's information and told to follow up, but when I did, he also had no answers. He apologized, but by then it was extremely frustrating to have wasted the trip only to find the card missing. I understand mistakes happen, but a clear protocol should be in place to ensure items like credit cards are stored and tracked securely. We we're drooling all week about 99's prime rib special. We ordered the 18oz one. We were so disappointed about the size, taste, quality of the meat itself. Bleh.... At Village Inn, we make two meals out of their 16oz. Prime rib. This one at 99's we are in one sitting and we were still hungry. So, 18oz? No, I don't think so. The 99 apparently does not mind losing generations of customers. I went with my wife, daughter and granddaughter. My granddaughter who is 15 ordered, as she always has from the kids menu. Our waitress, then the manager informed us that she is too old to order from the kids menu. We explained her autism and eating disorder. It made no difference and they said there is nothing they can do. We told the manager that they will lose us as regular customers for more than 30 years. We will never set foot in a 99 again. The manager at the Lowell, MA restaurant could not have cared less. read more

First time back at a 99 since the one near me closed. Menu pricing has gone up , food portions have gotten smaller and some things are no longer quality. So chicken pot pie came out burned and watery. You think the cook would have did a new once since he saw it was burned ?!?! That's not good .... My waiter Caleb was great about everything ! This is a chain pub-style restaurant. I usually eat here when I am too late to cook. The food is good, the prices average for today, and the service is very good. Got the ribs and 8 oz steak combo and while the ribs were good, the fries tasted as if they'd been under a warmer for 30 minutes and the steak came out well done despite being ordered medium rare. We ordered nachos, they were dry, we make better at home. All the appetizers are high calorie and deep fried. My husband and I shared the nachos and split a burger. The burger was okay, fries are okay. There really isn't anything memorable about it. Appetizers took 30 minutes to get to our table and brought out AFTER our entrees were already on the table. We weren't offered any popcorn and were were charged for adults soda in lieu of children's soda's which were 1/2 the price. I really did not like the Ninety Nine Restaurant. You already know that I am going to comment that this is a chain ... and like most chains, they disappoint. Although I was here four days ago, I can't say I remember my experience as it wasn't a good one. I'll make it quick and divide my review into three parts: Food For appetizers, we had the three cheese nachos and it wasn't so bad. The chips were probably the best thing there. Actually, I liked the clam chowda too... and these were all before the meal. For my main course, I had the Fried Shrimp and fries with cole slaw. It was a huge portion and disnt look too appetizing after it was placed in front of me. Fries were tough and the shrimp was super salty. It actually tasted a whole lot better the next day. Desert I had some apple crisp and that was pretty good too. .... except it was SO small. BLAH. Service: Stinky service. Our server forgot many things and got quite a few plates and drink wrong. She was pushy and was totally in rush. I hate when my table fills up with dishes and they were being piled up throughout the course of my dining, yet she did not ask to clear anything up. Gr. The 99, This is the worst service we have ever received , the hostess did not even recognize that we where there waiting to be served. An off duty server sat us at a booth we waited for 20 minutes to be greeted by a server and no one came. We ask to speak to the manager whose name is Michele, yup she did not come and talk it ask why we were unhappy and leaving. Big 2 down. What a disappointment. Met my friend Nancy here for dinner one night recently. In a convenient after work spot, right off the highway. Love their before meal popcorn. PRO - Our waitress was friendly & nice. I tried their new fangled Cesar salad that is basically 1/2 a head of Romaine lettuce, sliced down the middle & served with your choice of protein, Cesar dressing, some croutons & bacon bits & a hard boiled egg (also sliced down the middle) on top. It's FABULOUS. I really liked it. Nancy got the small piece of salmon with sides of broccoli & corn, as she is watching her carbs. Drinks were good, got my fav chardonnay here. Weeknight, so food came fast. CON - As usual for The 99, our waitress had 99 tables to wait on, so poor girl was pretty busy. Nancy thought her "drowning in butter" corn was gross. SO - It's the 99. You pretty much know you are gonna get a "decent" but not "outstanding" meal here for a pretty reasonable price. But that salad was darn good. So four stars, instead of the usual three for The 99 tonight. Get that salad. read more

LONG BLACK HAIR IN DESSERT! CAUTION! Went on New Years Eve around 9:30 PM, the turkey tips were fine, nothing great. Waitress offered a salad as a side, without mentioning the up-charge. Found out when we got the bill. Ordered the Towering Midnight Fudge Cake. When I put my spoon in the brownie I IMMEDIATELY FOUND THE HAIR AND PULLED IT DIRECTLY OUT OF THE CAKE. It was literally baked into it. DISGUSTING!!!! Go here at your own risk! Management took the dessert off the bill, and gave us a $20.00 gift certificate to use the next time we came in. Hate to break it to them, but when we find a long hair in our food, there isn't a next time we'll be back. I already gifted the certificate to someone else. Overall, really gross and disappointing. Went last night for dinner with one of my kids. We were seated fast but waitress didn't show up for about 10 minutes.... We finally order and the appetizers were ok.. If we didn't stop the waitress a few times she might never have stopped at our table again... she finally brings us our meals (both got cheeseburgers) and they were absolutely horrible.. They were mushy, soft and over cooked. oh and NO cheese! lol... I took one bite and pushed it aside, my son complained but ate his. She didn't return for 15 minutes and when I finally flagged her down she had an attitude and didn't even ask if I wanted a new replacement... Meanwhile our table was covered still with the appetizer plates, popcorn plate, etc. we had to clean it all off ourselves.. Finally the manager came over and he was very nice about it and did offer to replace it and took it off the bill, he also gave me a $10 gift card.. He left and once again we were left waiting for the waitress!! Finally I flag her down and asked for the check.. "oh didn't HE give it to you!?" She asked with an attitude... New bar is great!!! Lots more room and the TVs are awesome, you can see at least one from every seat in the bar. The bartenders are super friendly and quick to serve and refill. Pleasantly surprised by the food here. I got the Fit for You (or whatever) salmon, and it was a decent portion of fish. Obviously, it wasn't pink in the middle, but it was still flaky--you can't expect too much from $12 salmon. I also really liked the seasoning. I asked for the balsamic sauce on the side, and luckily they remembered, because it would have totally overpowered the taste of the fish. Just watch out because several entrees here are 1500+ calories. Also, I don't know why so many things are served with rice. No one's like, "Mmm, rice." read more
