this is a really easy location to get in and out. They have a ton of different options when it comes to sunflower seeds. I love the fact that they also have peanut butter and jelly at this location. I was even able to grab myself some bread and make a sandwich at lunch lots of bottled water has definitely my favorite as well. They have the very big gallon bottles. Disgusting. I am all about a good dollar store and a good dollar store buy but such an awful location and bad experiences. Today I stopped by to get some wrapping supplies for a charity event. First off, not one person had a mask on, staff nor shoppers and no social distancing. In fact, it seemed the client base here were purposely trying to crash into and walk close to others. One woman followed me and stalked me, around the store. She actually flipped her hair in my face when she passed by. She was so close her hair touched my face. Totally gross! The store is beyond filthy. The floors are scuffed and stained and dirty. People put drinks and food onto the shelves instead of in the garbage. My. hand found some type of sticky mess when I went to grab a product. The staples for sale are dirty, opened, on the floor, and often missing parts. Masks and diapers were on the floor. Sick! Then to make matters even more unpleasant when I went to check out the staff member could not have been ruder. I said "Hello," He just looked at me and sighed. Not sure what that was all about. He checks out all my items literally glaring at me the entire time. He said nothing to me at all throughout the entire transaction even when I said hello, goodby, and have a nice day. He just stared at me. I think he meant to close this register and was annoyed that I stopped there? That is only a guess on my part though. There is no excuse for this type of behavior at all. He also did not know how to pack gift bags and ripped wrinkled one that I bought. I cannot now use it for my event. I will never come back here. I have shopped here for 10+ years and spent an average of $100 a week. It used to be a decent place. Now the store has made all their carts unavailable to carry groceries out to the car, first it was the quarters now it's the cart tower. When I asked the staff where the carts that go to the cars were they blew me off and looked confused. They said it was because of theft, you don't chase away regular customers by making it hard and uncomfortable in 110+ heat to go to the car. I was visiting a friend downtown and I have to stop at every 99 cent store I see because I love a brand of pancake mix they sell. The big bummer is that it's not at all their stores. I was saddened today that this store didn't have it either. I did however find plenty of other things to take home to the family. The store was pretty clean and stocked well. Ok, so I never stop here bc I'm a junk collector and I thought I didn't need more junk. Man, was I wrong! A large selection of groceries- dry goods, fresh produce, bread, and milk- and all the stuff I had already expected PLUS live plants! And a bountiful choice to pick from at incredibly decent prices. Such a nice surprise went I went in specifically for zip ties on an errand for a friend and came out with a healthy 6" Jade plant and pot. I didn't experience the crappy customer service- it must have been standard bc I don't remember the interaction. The store was a little disheveled outside the grocery area and my quarter got me the jankiest cart imaginable, but I will most certainly be back for light groceries and household stuff. read more

One of the best dollar stores in all of Phoenix. A decent vegetable and fruit selection. A variety of cold cuts, luncheon meats, bacon etc., and every comfort food imaginable. Pleasant staff. Only drawback are the amount of homeless that sleep around the store. Otherwise, good shopping and bang for the buck. read more

First, I was only going to give this store four stars because always being asked for change is annoying. On second thought, I realize this is part of what makes this store click so it is all the way five. A consumer needs to know some general things about the 99 Cent Only store chain. They really have an amazing variety of stock at nothing more than 99 cents. In some cases, you will find items for less. (Try regular, or low sodium, V 8 juice for 59 cents a can. When I say they have a variety, I have purchased everything to computer parts to dvd's to cd's to tv antennas to alarm clocks to gift bags of all sizes to different things I have used in volunteer work with Ballet AZ. They always have special items for the current holiday. The Anderson Split Pea soup that is $1.47 and up at the grocery stores is 99 cents here and they have different varieties. I never failed to be surprised when I see individual french milled soaps next to bars of lava soap. They have a gourmet section that incudes things I have absolutely no idea of what they are used for but it's nice to know they are there if i ever need them?. In season, you will find plants that are two dollars less than Bashas has the same size at the time I write this. I admit to being a shopper so I like just spending time and perusing almost all the shelves. One of the latest things that really surprised me were boxes of extra large condoms made in colors only!! Add spice to your sex life in how many different colors? Now, it is time to figures out why this particular store on Indian School is unique and has the drawing power that it does for me.This is an interesting store. The one on 12 th street that is just about the same distance to my house, is bigger and it isn't as crowded. So why do I shop there more? Is it because it was there first and I am used to it? Is it because in this store I have run into people who clearly don't want to be seen shopping there-that's a biggie! Maybe I just like the real diversity in the people that work and shop there. Not that often do I get to use the smatterings of different languages I know with people who don't any more English than I know of their tongues. Trying to make known that you need an alarm clock in Swahili is a challenge. This store is truly an adventure and I love it! It's not for the faint of heart. And as I said before, what can be better than listening to the stammering explanation of someone who lives at Scottsdale Ranch and wouldn't be caught dead in a place like that when you come around a corner and there they are pushing a full shopping cart. That is as opposed to seeing someone like the dear lady I know who keeps a little winter place at the Biltmore, gushing over what terrific buys they have and being glad to see a friend. The only thing I wish they could change about this store would be to have someone there to keep the panhandlers out of the parking lot. Even that can be interesting at times. Someone asked me for change the other day, and the person looked at what I gave her and she told me that I could do better than that, couldn't I? As she said, a dollar really didn't go as far as it did a year ago with the economy the way it is. Who was I to argue with that line of thinking. I gave her more and felt good about this budding economist. One tip about getting to this store that can save you time. Fact: Did you know they had layaway at the .99 Cent Only Store? Me neither til I saw the sign today. These are tough economic times obviously and even the .99 Cent store is affected by it! This particluar location is fabulous! Clean, well organized, and a huge selection of random, useful stuff....hardware, food, soda, home goods, plasticwear, kids stuff, DVDs, etc...all for .99 (or less). I picked up some kids educational DVDs for an upcoming road trip, books, shampoo, etc...and would have bought tons of other stuff if my 2 year old wasn't running up and down the aisles letting me know it was time to leave. This is my 99 cent store that I go to for all my 99 cent needs. It's not in the best of neighborhoods and there is always someone asking for money or selling something in front of the store, but I just ignore and do my thing. I like their selection of food, makeup, cleaning supplies, and toiletries. Oh and their selection of spices! They have a lot of good cooking spices here. Love it! Their store and bathrooms are clean. Years ago i went to a few dollar stores around town and hated them. I vowed to not waste my time in one again. I likes me a bargain, but I don't like a store full of crap, and that's what I saw. Then, last year my sister was talkin' up the 99Cent Only Store. She insisted I go to one and I decided to give it a shot. Wow! I was shocked. THIS store wasn't like the dumps I tried earlier- it actually had merchandise worth buying, real deals--! Sure, there is crap in there- but it's in the eye of the beholder. Most recent visit on Jan 11. The best deals (in my opinion) are on the produce. I make it a routine to stop in to get lettuce, red peppers, and other produce items year-round. Where else can i get organic lettuce bags for 99cents? Good selection of food overall- you're sure to find some good deals. Some of the cleaning products are good values. The Awesome line is great, and gets rid of laundry stains as well as the $4.00 varieties. This particular location is fine. It is well organized, courteous help and clientele. No worries folks, it's a good shopping experience. The other commentary is accurate (reviews earlier than mine). If you've been avoiding the dollar store experience, give this chain a shot. And please be careful in this area because an old lady had her purse taken in this store when she had her back turned! (Jerks are everywhere!) I recently went and got cabbage, green onions(giant), 5 avocados, spinach, sweet peppers, mushrooms, chopped onions, Kraft shredded cheese(don't buy any other..it doesn't melt!) and some other stuff for only $16! Well, I have mixed feelings about the store. The products they offer for the prices are truly incredible. I had my first experience at the store last week and the products they offer simply do not outshine the staff and the experience. The people who were stacking the shelves didn't say a word to me and appeared as if they hated their jobs. The cashiers were using foul language in front of several customers. A quote "I don't get paid enough to do that shit," from one of the cashiers as they were joking about a woman who was stealing from the store and the security guard didn't catch her until they said something. By far the most unpleasant experience, which is sad considering the store has some really great products at low prices. Maybe with some leadership changes, the staff can be retrained to better handle situations and carry themselves as professionals representing an organization versus the selfish tantrums showcasing immaturity. Discovered the 99 Cent only store about a year ago and have been hooked ever since. This one is huge. They (like all of them) have boxed food, canned food, frozen food, fresh veggies, bread, cleaning supplies, makeup, some clothes (mostly for kids) and so much more! Been to this particular store twice. The first time I was there they had Silk Almondmilk.... which runs for at least $2 most places. The most recent time, just last night, saw Greek and NON DAIRY yogurt both 2./$1. My friend said she couldn't find it even for a dollar until we went up to Winco... but 2 for a dollar?? WOW! The selection does change though... we didn't see the almondmilk that I had saw just a few days prior. We did get some sweet potato curly fries and this one did have smart ones entrees usually that are $2 each as well. read more

Now we were shopping for cheap stuff for a big party and found some great things at this store, such as plastic serving utensils, paper plates, and plastic serving bowls. The first thing that really caught me off guard was the fact that they charge you to use a shopping cart... are you kidding me? The store is clean and the layout makes some sense, excellent place to grab cheap snacks, garden accessories, pet grooming products, arts and crafts and Tupperware. However the staff are a disgrace and very rude and unhelpful. I asked someone who worked there (apparently! I mean he was wearing a uniform ) he looked like I asked him for a vile of blood, (bemused and confused) said he would go and check with the stock controller and disappeared into the back, he never came back and I waited 5 minutes. When I got to the checkout I emptied the contents of the cart onto the conveyor belt (as you do) unfortunately I had a metal bucket and within that bucket I had some small items (soap, dog shampoo, cleaning cloths and candles) the cashier grabbed the bucket then just tipped it upside down (nothing breakable within that lot, but still! ) I asked her if she had a problem (she looked bemused as if it's normal to throw what people are buying around, she then started throwing my purchases into the plastic carrier bags making one hell of a noise, I again asked her what her problem was she replied I don't have one, I told her to stop throwing my purchases around and have some respect and sort your attitude out, she then rolled her eyes and immediately called the manager, I waited and waited while watching her throw other peoples shopping carelessly into more bags. The manager never turned up (probably the chap I encountered 10 mins ago that disappeared into the back) he was called 3 times, after 5 mins of waiting and watching Rochelle the cashier roll her eyes more than 10 times I was over it. At the back of the Store you will find an array of veggies for way less than you would pay at the super market. Of course the rest of the store is also amazing and will force you to fill up your little purple cart whether you like it or not.
