They mentioned they would send over a payment link, but I never received anything. Unfortunately, this has been a frustrating experience. I've been trying to find a reliable place to repair my laptop, and this situation, along with another shop being closed despite showing open hours, has made the process unnecessarily difficult. Yes, I initially left the 5-star review before I had verified the work, my mistake for trusting them. They offered the partial refund once I proved the work was not done, then they gave me a check that had a stop payment placed on it, so it could not actually be cashed. They will lose more than they charged me without a doubt now. ORIGINAL: They placed a stop payment on a refund check they gave me after I proved they did not complete the invoiced work. Very unprofessional, and low quality "business". They can only handle basic work at best I paid $762.68 for work that included a motherboard BIOS update, Windows 11 Pro installation, data backup, hard-drive repartitioning, rush service, and an onsite service call. The main objective was to move my computer from Legacy/MBR to UEFI/GPT with Secure Boot enabled. After the work was supposedly completed, Windows AND Powershell still showed: * BIOS Mode: Legacy * Secure Boot State: Unsupported * My actual Windows boot/system SSD was still MBR, not GPT * The motherboard still reported the same old BIOS version from 2021 Juan Carlos's explanation was that they had used a "custom firmware" and that Windows simply would not display the changes correctly. However, both Windows System Information and PowerShell independently confirmed that the machine was still booting in Legacy BIOS mode from an MBR system drive. So it was clearly not a display issue. They later offered to redo the work the "standard" way, which only reinforced that the promised end result had not been delivered the first time. The computer was also returned without my six-monitor setup functioning properly. Before the work, I specifically told Juan Carlos not to update the graphics driver because I knew it could break the setup. The driver was updated anyway (he confirmed it the day of delivery), and the monitors did not work correctly when the computer was returned, despite being told that everything had been tested. Juan Carlos could not figure out the solution himself; I ultimately provided the fix. When I asked for a refund he then acted as though I should be grateful because he had spent additional time getting the computer to work, even though the problem resulted from a driver update I explicitly asked him not to perform (which I also gave him the fix for). They repeatedly say they will return your computer in the same functioning condition, but that was clearly not true since Juan Carlos said the extra time he spent was "out of scope" once the topic of a refund came up. The most unacceptable part came after I agreed to their partial-refund offer (of only $100, even though the incomplete line items were much more). They gave me a refund check, but a stop payment was placed on the check, so it could not actually be cashed. Giving a customer a refund check and then preventing the payment from clearing is beyond unprofessional. Google reviewers should also look at this company's Yelp reviews. The Yelp reviews are much more consistent with the true experience than the overwhelmingly positive picture shown on Google (which is really from simple jobs it looks like). Between the incomplete technical work, the questionable "custom firmware" explanation (which is just a lie that I caught Juan Carlos in), the unapproved driver update, the computer being returned without all monitors working, the dismissive attitude, and a refund check with a stop payment placed on it, this was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. Regarding the money, they can keep the $700. I've posted the full story on multiple review sites and in multiple local Facebook groups (even in Spring), so their little stop payment stunt will cost them far more in lost business than simply honoring the refund would have. read more

So we're going to try to drive to the listed location and find out if they in fact do exist. I had the worst experience I ever had with a business with 911 computer. During the past summer I contacted 911 about a harddrive I had that I couldn't retrieve data from. The told me they could diagnose and quote for potential repair for $50. They pick it up no problem, easy fast exchange. They tell me they would let me know within a day or two about the status and send an invoice. It took about a week but they did tell me it was no retrievable data and sent me the $50 invoice which I promptly paid. This is where the story turns. They offer me a service to send it to data retrieval. They say it could cost upwards to $700 but they wouldn't charge until it was fully determined. I agreed and this was the last time I was able to get in contact with them. I opened a service ticket on their site to request status which was kept opened and ingnored until I updated it last week. It is now closed with no update from them. The reason for closure was that I didn't respond within 72 hours. I've tried calling several times but I never get a response. At this point I just want my harddrive back. It belonged to an older family member who had some very important documents. This business... if you can even call it that, essentially they charged me $50 to steal my harddrive. read more

The keys on my laptop weren't working. They came pretty quick and sent me a quote. The quote was for $350- I felt that was pricey and told them "no thanks" two days later I still didn't have my computer back. When I called and asked for it, they either wouldn't answer or were VERY rude. When I finally got my computer back late and half a day later it was broken even more and not put back together properly. I give this company a 1 star rating. I needed my internet badly. A switch from Comcast to AT&T back to Comcast left no connection and I had Bill's due that I paid online. They were the 2nd company to call me from asking on Angie's List ( Home Advisor). They had someone out in a couple of hours. Reason I did not go with anyone else. Surprise it wasn't to start fixing the issue which Comcast would not do, it was to give a quote of nearly 350.00 to get my connection back up and running and they wanted 20% down to hold my appointment the next day. Then the next day at appt time, Juan Carlos shows up and quickly goes to his laptop for 45 minutes, not explaining much. After that he connects some "network extender" wher I used to receive the hatd-wire connection. He then gets on the computer shows me a connection and he is quickly gone after I gave them the money. He says there is a 30 day guarantee on the work. I had changed my password on my gmail account and forgot I had done that. Not receiving email I quickly called the company back to say it wasn't fixed. Then I fixed the issue. Was expecting a call from Juan Carlos and instead he shows up. I explain. He says its 50.00 if they come back out and it is a "computer" problem just in trip charges. I said okay sorry and I was not charged. 45 minutes after he left the first time, internet goes down and stays down. At 3:00 I call My Spring IT Guy who had been the first to call, given me a 125.00 quote over the phone but could not see me on my urgent request. I called 911 Computer and told them the issue was not resolved and I did not trust their solution. They insulted me again in an email saying it was human error or my computer. I wrote back and said NO to another appt. Short on time. Robert came to the rescue made changes to both upstairs and downstairs outlets, took away 911's equipment and corrected the problem and charges 125.00. I had a text from 911 and I asked twice for them to make arrangements to pick up the 100.00 equipment. They did not respond. I told them I would be disputing their charges on my credit card, they did not respond. Before that Juan Carlos who could not come back that day did call me and insulted my intelligence again, saying I did not understand the fix. I will never use them again. My Sony VAIO laptop hard drive finally died after 5 years of faithful service. I contacted 911 Computer Repair to see if the drive could be replaced with a SOLID STATE drive and get Window 10 loaded. They immediately set up an appointment, and a technician came TO MY HOME! I got text messages as to when he would arrive, his name, color vehicle, etc. Juan Carlos took my computer and was gone in 15 minutes. The NEXT day, 911 Computer Repair called and said the computer was done and could deliver on a Saturday afternoon. I wasn't able to receive the computer, so they set up an appointment first thing Sunday morning!! I had my fixed computer by 8:30am and again, delivered promptly and courteously to my home by Juan Carlos. I've owned computers for over 40 years, and I have NEVER had such outstanding, prompt, and excellent customer service! Don't wast time contacting anyone else. I was very much on the fence about using this company because of the absence of reviews. Nevertheless, because they are a mobile company ( that will pick up and assess your computer from home or your workplace), I decided to give them a shot. Forward to two weeks later, $200 later, 10 futile calls and unreturned messages later... Day one : Called company and explained predicament. My computer was sluggish and was taking a very long time to boot up. The representative was very helpful and managed to find me a same day appointment, which I was very happy about. The computer technician showed up promptly and diagnosed the issue - malware and some disk errors. According to him, solution was to wipe out windows and reinstall the operating system. Price of 189 plus tax quoted. Unfortunately, this would mean losing my software including some statistical packages worth $300 ( previous techs have managed to salvage my software but as this is not my area and I am new in town, I will have to trust the technician's opinion). Also it would take a day or two before my laptop would be returned. My opportunity cost $500 plus two missed deadlines.. Day two: received an update regarding my computer via email. Things are looking up! Day three: received a follow-up call from the technician delineating progress and setting up a drop off time. Day four: the technician dropped off my computer. My data was all intact but my precious statistical applications were gone forever. Oh well, all's well that ends well? 2 weeks later... computer will not boot up! Ah, but there is a warranty of 30 to 90 days on repair services....?Day 14: I call the technician directly, and explain that my computer is stuck in an automatic repair loop. Perhaps an appointment is necessary? I am politely shut down - what do I know about computers anyway? So I let the computer run through the evening and through the night. Day 15: I leave a message with the technician, my laptop at this point has been in a perpetual automatic repair loop for over 24 hours. A few hours later, I receive a call back. Again, I request an appointment and I'm reluctantly told that the earliest appointment is two days away! I express the urgency of my situation, and the company line is parroted back...two days from now, they will pick up (but not repair) my computer from my home. Given their previous timeline, I mentally calculate that we are looking at a turn around time of 4 to 6 days. Again I plead for some leeway given my approaching deadline. Futile. I ask to speak to a supervisor and I am given a number, which after several calls I realise is an unmanned voicemail. I call several other extensions leave some messages, I even send an email. Silence. By the end of the day I am ready to pull out my hair.... Finally at 6pm, I receive a phone call from the highly sought after Supervisor. She listens to my problem, or at least seems to. I explain to her that if for some reason they are unable to squeeze me onto their schedule, I am more than willing to find alternative services, though equity demands at the very least, a partial refund for services not rendered (stated with slightly more aplomb). Clearly, this is the wrong thing to say! A tongue lashing ensues...and phrases like "wait your turn" and "respect" are hurled at me in a scolding more severe than my mother at her worst! Privately, I think to myself, HAVEN'T I WAITED LONG ENOUGH, to get the job done CORRECTLY? She insists that the problem I have is unrelated to my previous issue (while at the same time implying that she has no idea what the issue is! Odd!). She finally cools down, and asserts that PERHAPS, she can do me the 'favour' of having somebody pick up my computer tomorrow, BUT they won't have a look at it until they deal with the 30 other (PAYING) customers. She promises to contact me tomorrow about MAYBE having somebody pick up my computer. I offer to drop off and pick up the computer myself. She shuts me down again. I relent and resign myself! We'll see what tomorrow brings. For now, TWO STARS on the merits of customer service and customer appreciation. My technical issues might just be a one off occurrence but the paternalistic condescension towards the client is noteworthy. Again, I may just have caught a few individuals on a bad day, and striving to give an impartial review will update my experience accordingly. Update, got a second opinion. Turns out (in addition to malware)my hard drive has been failing for a few months now hence all the start up issues. This was not picked up by the technicians at 911 computers though the issue was resolved by a second company within a few hours, rather than a few days. From the comments below, I doubt I'll recoup $200 sunk cost though will update if so. read more

My technician arrived on time and at first thought my computer's problems could be fixed on site. It turned out it was going to take longer than initially anticipated, so he took it back to 911's lab. I received an email several days later letting me know the computer was ready to be returned and set up an appointment. When the computer was returned, my technician took time to explain what had been done and how the newly installed anti-virus and malware protection programs worked. What I liked best about this firm, and the reason why I would use them again (other than the fact that the computer was fixed) is that you deal with the same tech for the entire process: first appointment, take away (if necessary), return and re-set up. Tech (Carlos) came out within 2 hours of my call. He was very patience, professional and efficient. Explained everything as he went and then at the end made sure I understood and again went over anything I wasn't clear on. He also brought my system up to date which hadn't been done in forever. I was told up front what the cost would be and that is what it was; no add-on or up-sell. The warranty that came with the service was the "icing on the cake".
