Charming little restaurant! Feels far from touristy. Great menu and wine selection. For us, the highlights were the Polpette meatballs appetizer, the limoncello cake and chocolate mousse. Plus the incredible San Michele Valpolicella Ripaso red wine. And oh yes, the side of mushrooms. All were simply excellent. The Calamari Imbottiti (stuffed squid) and the Sogliola Imbottiti (stuffed flounder) were both very good, yet just needed that something extra. Slightly bland and too much breadcrumbs sorry to say. Over the weekend we went there with friends. Not our idea, because we had been a couple of other times and thought the food wasn't good. We were seated and the waitress took our order for drinks. 45 minutes later the drinks started to arrive. Maxine, our waitress, explained that the bartender prioritized those seated at the bar first, then got around to table orders after. The bread was stale, pasta overcooked, and the Carbonara looked like it had gone through a blender. I'm astonished that a business would allow the bartender to behave the way he does. We ate there last evening and this review is mostly good. There are a few functional oddities about this restaurant. The good and drink were good. My wife had the inked squid dish and I had the pasta forianna. My wife had two lemon drop martinis and I had a Hendricks martini. The drinks were excellent, $16 each, which is about the going rate in Ptown. Our waitress was young, very sweet and very pretty. Three generations of women from the same family are working there. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant on a pier in Ptown. Now for the oddities: The restaurant opens at 6, but you cannot make a reservation until 5. That's odd. We made on at 5 and returned at 6, and were the first ones seated. Despite being seated first, orders were taken ahead of us by almost every other table. Most people were enjoying their wine or cocktails well before our cocktail order was even taken. There seemed to be quite a bit of disorganization. We ordered a nice salad for a first course, but it never came. When our entrees arrived, I noted that we never got the salad. They offered to bring it AFTER the meal, but we politely declined. The stuffed squid dish that is on the menu was my wife's original choice, but the waitress returned a bit later to say they did not have it. They also did not have the tiramisu we ordered for dessert. When the bill came, I noted that our drink order was $80, which seemed high for 3 martinis. It turns out that they recorded us as having had 5 martinis. When I reminded them that we only had 3, they initially seemed skeptical, but apparently confirmed that they had erred, and apologized for the error. So here's the summary. We liked it, and we'd go back, but they really need to get better organized. SUGGESTIONS: 1. Improve your reservation system 2. Serve customers in the order of arrival 3. Organize your billing procedures 4. Make sure you have entrees and desserts that are on your menu 5. Try not to forget courses that your customers order. 6. Keep your bartender, he's excellent 7. Keep your very nice waitress, although she might have too many tables. read more

Ambience ok, service not particularly attentive, but food really poor. I ordered veal milanese and, when it finally arrived it was severely overcooked. Not normally being one to make a fuss I attempted to eat it and did manage to make it part way through before giving up. I brought this to the attention of our waitress, who just kinda shrugged and said she would give us two Lemoncellos. Later, as we were leaving, I asked the waitress if she had informed the kitchen of my complaint...she said she had not since they were busy!! I took it upon myself to complain to the kitchen through the service window, which drew no response at all. Same with the Maitre'd on the way out. Not recommended at all, best to stay away. I have been to 9 Ryder twice. It is a very nice stop in Ptown. There is something friendly and fun about this place. It is casual yet classy. Expect a delicious meal from a professional staff. Great place to relax, watch the sunset and have drink. It is not a typical Italian restaurant and is not a beach bar. It has a quality food prepared to order. The food is mediocre and the service is horrible. We asked for the rocks from our martini and she responded with " if I remember ". They didn't have what we ordered and substituted without asking us. When we questioned it on our bill, they expected us to pay for it. Our server was inattentive and didn't seem to care about our table. We didn't order the pasta dish that was delivered to our table and asked for it to be removed from our bill. The chef came out and said that they didn't get their delivery so they substituted our order without asking but he would take it off of our bill if we promised to never come back. We were shocked ! Our server came over and repeated what the chef had said, like we needed to hear that again! I replied to her that she was a horrible sever and she said Fuck you with a big smile. I really like this place and will get to the lack of a fifth star at the end. Their food is delcious. I also like that their menu is very italian, but not the standard red sauce italian place fare. You can get things like squid ink pasta, chicken livers as well as a good parm dish. They have a great bar, and great wine. The table service is good, but inconsistent. Some of the older servers are spot on for the place. It is a small restaruant with cool decor. its location is a little hard to find, but it is worth looking for. The front of the house can use some work. I got a reservation very early in the evening at 6pm, when i called she said i needed to be out by 8 due to table turnover. NP. 2 hours for dinner is plenty of time. When we got there, she said we had to be out by 7:30. I was put off by that. the kicker is when we left at around 730, the place was still empty. Also, we were sat by the kitchen that has their own radio. There was the restaurant music and the kitchen music battling it out for about 45 minutes. I think someone figured it out since one of the radios stopped playin. read more

TRY THE DRINKS. GREAT VIEW. Great new place. True they have some improvements to make on food, but the food was good, if pricey. We loved Sarah the mixologist, and the bar has the best seats in the house so we favor that. Sarah is very creative, even in this era of infused everything. You won't regret trying unusual drinks here. Sure, they are expensive, but for handmade and the best in class, well worth it. Sarah makes the bar comfortable and homey to spend a leisurely evening. One comment on that- they need a foot rail at the bar! This restaurant deserves to survive to fight another year in the competitive setting that is overtouristed Ptown. Hard pass on this one. A few quick highlights: - bread was stale - the "salad lady" hadn't yet arrived for work when we put in our appetizer order, so they couldn't make it. No apology (weird) but no big deal. we were the first seating, are on vacation and not stressing about the little things. we waited a few and got our antipasto. - unfortunately, when my boyfriend tried to eat the half hard boiled egg in one bite, he discovered that it still had the shell on it. Kind of serves him right for not sharing :-) but disgusting nonetheless. - the male server's reaction to this was "at least you know it's real!" - are you kidding?!? - food was very mediocre, nothing special. We had the eggplant and the veal. - lastly, the Parmesan in the shaker on the table smelled more like blue cheese than Parmesan. It's been sitting there a little too long. - for the covid-conscious, the only staff NOT wearing masks were in the kitchen, behind the bar, and at the hostess desk. Huh? What a spectacular find in P-town. Recently opened right on the dock in a cute little shack/building. Tons of charm and atmosphere. I sat at the bar and was very impressed by the British bartender. She makes one mean martini as well many innovative specialty cocktails. For dinner she reccomended the Spagetti Carbonara. It was amazing. Better than anything I have had in Italy. Terrible experience! We had a 6:00 reservation (the earliest for dinner). We waited an hour and a half to get our food. The waitress apologized once but when asked about it further she said she put in the order and couldn't do anything else to make it faster. Her attitude was less than accommodating. The food was mediocre and the portions were small. Out of six of us all were hungry after the meal. So very disappointed as I recommended this restaurant after having a prior wonderful experience. I was sitting at the bar; the bartender seemed apologetic and comped my and my friend's drinks, but she seemed incredulous--kind of like she thought I planted it. Really? I live in New York but get to go to Provincetown (my hometown) a few times every summer and was lucky enough to get to dine at 9 Ryder multiple times. The restaurant is just what Provincetown needs; a lovely fine-dining Italian establishment frequented by locals. Located right on the water, you get views that are unattainable at almost any other restaurant. The setting is small and cozy and the service from our server, Billy, was right on point. Now to the food: Amazing! We started off with the mozerella, tomato salad. Simple and refreshing, a classic. I got the fish of the day which was fresh and perfectly seasoned and my friend got the mussels which I tried and were also perfect in a light tomato sauce. We had a side of the pasta al burro which had the right elements of garlic and cheesiness. For dessert we had cheesecake which was also out of this world. The cocktails were also creative and delicious! I highly recommend choosing this intimate spot when you travel to Provincetown, every one who's from there already does! read more

Upon arriving for our 6 pm reservation, she informed us that we could eat if we thought we would b finished by 7:30. I thought to myself well that also depends on how fast the kitchen service is?
