I've been to Ciro and Sal's before, but coming back to Provincetown, I was really interested to try it again! It's a dimly lit restaurant with a nice really ambiance. I had their Fra Diavolo, chicken parm, and a side of pesto pasta. The fra diavolo is a spicy tomato based pasta dish with seafood and is something that I really enjoyed! Their chicken parm is a pretty good sized dish and as someone who really likes pesto, I was happy to try out the pesto pasta dish! read more

We have enjoyed dinner at Ciro & Sal's each summer when we visit. There are many seating options and the best is to sit outside. The menu is what you want for Italian, with pastas, veal and seafood options. This visit we sat upstairs and were greeted by Niko. We started with gin gimlets, which were perfectly balanced and refreshing. We started with stuffed clams, insalata mista, lobster bisque. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. Then we had the seafood pasta special and veal parmigiana. Both entrees had generous servings and delivered great flavor. The only miss was the service slowed on the back half as other diners joined in for their dinners. But overall this is a unique place and has an extensive menu worth checking out. read more

Came here for dinner the other day. The ambiance is nice, and while not on the beach, they have a wonderful garden area set up. Our server was attentive and friendly. I ended up getting the chicken and shrimp vodka pasta which was DELICIOUS. Though basic, it was maybe the best thing I've eaten in Provincetown. My boyfriend got the carbonara which he also loved. We got the caesar salad which was good for a starter. I think where things went wrong was how slow the food came out. We probably waited over an hour for our entrees. While our server kept apologizing, I feel like he could have brought more bread, a beverage or something else to apologize for the hold up in the kitchen. It was also weird cause other tables around us came and went before our food came out. I'm not sure what happened, but I didn't love it. I think if they got their acts together, I could go back, but I think the kitchen needs to work out some systems before then. read more

An absolute MUST for dinner while in Ptown. The ambiance is welcoming and magical from the moment you enter its enchanted, fairy lit garden. Inside is cozy and inviting, with service moving things along briskly in this popular spot, which is nearly always fully booked. Downstairs, with a lower ceiling, gives a kind of Hobbity vibe, and can be a little louder due to closer quarters. Outdoors looks beautiful but was too cold by November of course! Food wise everything was a win: the zucchini appetizer was crispy and delicious with beautiful marinara, and the gnocchi caprese was a bright and delicious starter. We ordered a whole bunch of mains to share and were not disappointed: the Burro y Formaggio was absolutely delicious- simple, garlicky buttery magic, and the side held enough for us all the share plenty. The lasagna was a great brick of umami cheese and beef (all I wish is that we'd had a steak knife since it was hard to cut through the top broiled layer) and the broccolini was bright and tasty (though the side is definitely a side for one person). But for sure my favorite dish was the chicken and shrimp vodka penne: it was perfection. The sauce was divine and the little chunks of chicken were tender and juicy, and the few shrimp were huge and tasty. Loved the little chunks of Mozz and tomato, adding to the variety of texture. A must, for sure. We also really enjoyed our cannoli and tiramisu, which has a lovely firm ladyfinger texture and perfect marscarpone layer, with just a light hint of alcohol, not boozy. I'll definitely be back whenever visiting, my friends agreed it was the best meal of the trip! read more

Oh the festive patio lights and the interior holiday decorations were so cheery on a cold winters night! I Brought my best bud from Seattle here during holly folly. Made a must - needed Friday Eve Reservation for 5:30-7pm. We enjoyed good service w Soleil, she gave us 2 wine tastes to help us pick a bottle. Much appreciated as we enjoyed the selection of a #14 Montepulciano ($66). The warm bread with the olive oil and balsamic and cheese is yummy. My Appetizer was the yummy favorite, mushroom ravioli (2) in a pesto cream sauce. Just as delicious as always. Entree I chose lasagna and a side of veal meatballs. This was interesting in its big block tower of lasagna. I was excited until I cut in and the dried out over broiled pasta top wouldn't cut. So I pulled it off and sliced thru. I was disappointed that there wasn't a nice hot melted cheese top but instead, it was really dry. I asked for more red sauce to moisten it up. (Was this last nights piece reheated?) The side of 3 small meatballs were very good. Two Desserts, one tiramisu was good. One chocolate bread budding with the smallish topping of caramel cream was kinda dry that a fork cutting thru broke a hard chunk off. I like my bread pudding to be moist and creamy, not a firm block of bread. So the food was not as good as I hoped and my visiting buddy had a spaghetti marinara, and he was disappointed with it too. read more

A must do every time I am in Provincetown! I have tried multiple entree selections here and every single one has been wonderful. Their al burro side pasta is nearly as great as whatever main you've ordered it with! Everything is appropriately priced and the drinks have always been delicious. Our server Kristin was delightful, very professional and knowledgeable of the courses. I had the Veal Milanese, the veal was thin and dry, and my pasta al Burro, had so much garlic I couldn't eat it. My partner who is a local past experience dining at this restaurant was pleasurable however this last experience was not good. He had Viello Sforza with the pasta al burro and it was like eating seeds or sand, the rissto was extremely salty and he couldn't eat it. The Veal was good, however the plate was swimming with olive oil. Would we go back. Probably not. read more

You walk down an alley to a cute garden and there's a wine cellar downstairs where you can sit but we sat upstairs overlooking the garden. Service was good and the food was delicious - veal parm, bolognese, vodka pasta were all great but the portions were huge so we couldn't finish anything. A little overpriced but if they made dishes a bit smaller they could probably lower prices. Overall a good spot with a cool history that you can read in the menu. read more

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding reception and cocktail hour at Ciro & Sal's in Provincetown, and it was truly unforgettable. We enjoyed the festive space at Ciro & Sal's last evening. The decorations and vibe on the main floor are magical. We reserved bar dining for 2 and got a cozy banquette upstairs with attentive service from one of the bartenders. The bar was full of lively patrons. We started with a bottle of Barolo and a small, fresh and crusty baguette section. We had 2 and were delicious with the evoo & vinegar cruet. We shared the zucchini fritti appetizer and it was delicious with tomato dipping sauce. We got the chicken Marsala and lemon codfish. The Marsala was beautifully presented but a bit overcooked and the sauce tasted mostly of black pepper. The lemon fish was served with perfectly cooked and delicious vegetables and a great tasting sauce. The fish was a bit overcooked, but still pretty good. We added a side of mushrooms which were nice with subtle flavoring. I initially ordered the only special of the night: filet of beef with Gorgonzola cream sauce. Because it was prepared sous vide and then pan seared, a temperature couldn't be requested. Our server said it may be served better than medium and I prefer medium rare so we got the fish instead. We both got side orders of the Burro E Formaggio pasta tossed with butter, parsley, basil. garlic and parmigiana. This was a lot of food for us and we didn't eat much of the pasta which we took home. It was a bit tight and we both found that adding some of the evoo on the table to the pasta improved the texture and consistency. We finished with a wildly delicious chocolate mousse dessert. We both agreed the atmosphere helped to make our night pleasant. read more

We really like this restaurant. The food portions are generous- even when ordering a "side portion." I had a glass of Nebbiolo that was quite good! And the insalata mista is well tossed and fresh. The ambiance is warm- and attractive fire was burning on the hearth. The tables are well spaced and the lighting gives the room a cozy aura. The service was a bit spotty. The waiter was friendly. He was also inattentive, leaving us for a good 10+ minutes before returning to take our order, forgetting to bring a second glass of wine. The host was nowhere to be found when we went to retrieve our umbrellas, so...we went behind the counter to get them ourselves. It's a first-world problem, but....it left us feeling a bit ignored. Perhaps the damp chill of a rainy Easter night left people a bit sluggish. That said, we will come back- the food is always worth the visit. read more

Tucked out of the way, you could walk up and down commercial street several times without ever knowing it was there through an adorable back garden, but Ciro and Sal is worth hunting for. I ate there with a small group of friends and every one of us was impressed! Dimly lit and cozy, it feels like you're stepping into a back room of someone's home and we were welcomed just as warmly. Our server was knowledgeable about food and wine and made excellent recommendations. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and it was to die for! I almost didn't get it because the description said pesto cream and I worried that would be chunky or overpowering but the sauce is more cream with a beautiful hint of pesto for flavor. This dish is not to be missed. My wife ordered the chicken parm and was equally impressed. The cocktails our group ordered were all impressive and everyone left happy. I feel like this meal just vaulted Ciro and Sals to the top of my Ptown list! read more

Tuscan garden in the summer humidity or inside in dark, romantic confines? Can't really go wrong with either but the entrance and garden area are beautiful. The food is very good, and the veal meatballs are quite good and paired with linguini was more than you can eat in a sitting. The ravioli? Spot on. Two snaps. Lasagna? Delight. Prices are reasonable for food quality and ambiance. Desserts are mid range. However let's talk about the drinks? Pistachio martini is freakishly good, and I consistently get one of the best espresso martinis here. Service is very dependent on the individual; however we have had several good experiences lately and it seems to me they start out a little quiet, not aloof. Food was excellent; service stellar. Our issues are with C & S's DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES. They are outright sneaks and slimy. There was "lawyer-speak" language on menu pages trying to convince customers that they DO NOT charge a credit card fee, when they do. Do you know why? It is ILLEGAL in Massachusets to charge one! Yes - outright illegal. Three times I asked staff (2 servers and the host), "How much is your crefit card fee?" Thrice, I got the deceptive "lawyer-speak" response speciffically telling me no fees. The check came and DUH - TWO PRICES, one for cards, the other for cash. 4% I'm not naive; I understand the banks are out of control, ripping off merchants who must pass fees on to customers. This is SLIMY, DISHONEST business practice. You only get to lie to me once. I don't care how darn good the food and service are - NOT EVER DOING BUSINESS WITH LIARS, AGAIN! read more

Really enjoyed the outdoor area here, they have grape vines all over. The service was great. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and kind. The food was ok for the price. I got the special which was a fettuccini seafood dish. Normally I wouldn't complain but when the bill came and it was $67 it was a bit of a bummer. It really lacked sauce and some seasoning but the seafood was super fresh but I must say the next day it was better. The bread was very fresh, I tried some filet mignon it was amazing! Well worth the money for that, it was cooked perfectly, melted in your mouth. The chocolate moose dessert was very good. The cocktails were very good as well.
