Really enjoyed our meal at this tire restaurant in Springfield. It's very clean and welcoming. The ambience is great and the food was even better! What I like most about it is they were light on the fish sauce, which can be over powering at many Thai places. I ordered their special Pad Thai which was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I asked for Thai hot and while I like it a little bit spicier they did bring the spice tray so I was able to adjust the temperature to my liking. Placed an order 1.5 hours in advance during a non-peak hour and bottom line: order was super late, huge lines of dashers trying to pick up orders and no organization whatsoever. Complete chaos. Haven't had pad Thai in a while and after eating at this place, I don't think I'd go anywhere else and I'm not even from the area. Lol. So far this is the best Thai restaurant I've ever ate at. Service was good but one of the servers did happen to spill the glass of water on the table before she was able to put it down. I guess the tray was so heavy that she wasn't able to hold it up anymore and ended up being spilled but did apologize and the water was cleaned up. After all it's just water. No biggie. Anyways let's talk about the food. I wasn't sure on what to get cause there were so many things on the menu so I went with the pad see ew with chicken and it was super delicious!! It seriously was sooo good and tasty! All the ingredients put into it made the noodles so flavorful that I really wanted to eat more of it but I was so full. The portion size was a good amount and it was enough to bring home to have as left overs. My bf ordered the drunken noodles and ordered it spicy which he seemed to like very much and he also brought some home to take for leftovers. The previous restaurant here was Bangkok Noodle but I'm not sure why they closed down. But 9 Padthai is in the house now and the food is amazing! Crispy Calamari - lightly battered with a pineapple flavored dipping sauce. Not my favorite dipping sauce with calamari because my personal preference is more on the sweet, chili, and tangy side. But still decent nonetheless and cute presentation. Sukiyaki w/ Beef (dry noodles) - this is interesting as I never had a Thai dish like this before. The broth is so flavorful and the meatballs were tender as well. I asked for medium spice level and it was just the perfect amount of heat to it. The broth was definitely the star of the show here and I enjoyed eating the dry version along with the soup on the side. Definitely recommend! Panang Curry w/ Tofu - the coconut milk and curry paste ratio was excellent. The curry dish was not overly sweetened either. The cup of rice provided to the curry dish is a bit smaller in ratio, so you might have to ask for additional rice. Chicken or Shrimp 9 Pad Thai - first off, I love pad Thai and I must say I eat it so often... I could probably become a pad Thai connoisseur. Hah, is that even a thing?! On an unrelated note - I really need to visit Thailand to have their authentic street food (one day). This pad Thai dish is wrapped in an egg! Aside from the pretty presentation, it's a huge portion, and the flavors with their secret sauce ingredient has the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors to it. Also, very friendly staff. 5 stars aren't easy to give but here's why this place deserves 5 stars. The flavors here are easily unique and differentiated from other Thai restaurants in the area. It's good! I've had some of their entrees and I will say, it tastes more like what you'll find in Bangkok street food vs Americanized Thai food. My review will be specifically on the Pad Thai and Siam Fried Rice. Pad Thai is so simple, yet this place impresses because their sauce is unique. The owner, P Um, went to Thailand to study how to make and cook this dish. The sauce is a secret recipe cooked in house and has the perfect balance of sweet salty and sour. The sour isn't from vinegar, but the pure sourness of tamarind. The color is dark amber brown, which is the color of authentic pad thai, not red or pinkish like these other restaurants are doing. And they give you a generous portion. Not only are they cooking the noodles so well (I got the woonsen), they also char the chicken breast to ensure that it's seared with that Wok-ae smokiness yet remains moist. Try it with the Woonsen bean thread noodle. This is the only place that does this! The other dish, my absolute favorite, is the Siam Fried Rice. It's pink, so it's very appealing. But what makes this unique is that this place is the only place in the area that offers this and makes it correctly. The shrimp tofu sauce they use is what makes it pink and unique. This dish is from a specific town near bangkok and not many people know the secrets to make the sauce the correct way, and P Um learned it and executed it well. The fried rice is seasoned with black and white pepper and contained generous amounts of crab lump meat and shrimp. They top it off with the most gentle scrambled egg that gives it a nice creamy bite. I highly highly highly recommend this. You'd think fried rice is a simple dish, but I guarantee you, you won't be able to get this anywhere else or make it at home. I can't even replicate the taste. Last thing to review - the restaurant is small and clean. But the owner is extra extra nice. She's very humble and often times she will come out from the kitchen to chat with her guests. I love that about her. And she will share her experiences going to Thailand to learn how to make each dish authentically as she can. All the fried rice noodles for example, she has mastered the technique to properly char the noodles and give it a Smokey wok taste. From my own experiences I will tell you it is hard to do this because most people will end up breaking the noodle. However, they do it right here. Give this place a try! read more

I've been on the hunt for a good Thai restaurant since my honeymoon to Thailand. 9 Pad Thai did not disappoint!! My favorite Thai dish is tom yum goong and their version was delicious and spicy. I went with a friend so we split two entrees - the 9Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice. Both dishes were SOOO flavorful. The 9Pad Thai is pad Thai with a twist - it comes wrapped in a thin egg crepe-like wrapping. For dessert, we got mango sticky rice which I LOVE. I forgot to take a picture because I was so excited to eat it. We also got crispy bananas (which were wrapped like egg rolls) with homemade ice cream. One of the more affordable Thai options in the area but quality of food and service aren't sacrificed. I've dined in once before and just went back to pick up takeout. Got the Kanom Jeeb and two orders of mango sticky rice. The appetizer was delicious and necessary to eat with the sauce. They poke holes in the styrofoam to ventilate and avoid sogginess. The mango sticky rice and delicious and coconut-y. As of 2022 it is a couple bucks cheaper than other places which can go up to $7.50 for one order of mango sticky rice. I hope to be back again soon. I live in Falls Church near the new Mosaic development and we have a few well known Thai restaurants in the area, but over time I have been very disappointed with their food because it has become sloppy and even some dishes start to look and taste like fast Thai Food and not what I would consider restuarant quality anymore. 9 Padthai has fresh grilled flounder, wonderful drunken beef noodles with the perfect balance of veggies and noodles cooked to perfection. You should try their Mooping Grilled Pork Skewer appetizer that comes with sticky rice, it is fabulous if you pair it with basil tamarind sauce that is served with the grill flounder. We have stopped going to our other regular Thai joints since discovering this place. First I have to say I love this Thai place but I debated between a 3 or 4 or a 5 for various reasons. First let's start with dine in. We have ate there maybe twice. Both times service was so slow. Like to the point I almost wanted to see if they needed an additional server and volunteer myself. (Reason #1 of why not a five star). And it is very cute inside, I would love it if we could eat there inside more often because it has good vibes feeling. Maybe I will try inside again in the next year and hopefully I can update this post for it to be better. We usually do take out since then. Their food is delicious. We are boring and always get usually the same thing unless we have guests that want something different. Nam tok is the perfect seasoning of marinated beef, beef is tender and cabbage is crisp. The only downfall is there is not enough for the price (Reason #2 of why this isn't a five and probably the major reason bc I think an appetizer should be big enough for everyone to get some) The other things we sometimes get Thai tea- it is so good. Last time I realized my kid probably needs to purchase her own because one is not enough to share. 9 pad Thai - we did not get it last time but times before it is amazing Drunken noodles- my kids favorite, noodles are perfectly cooked, wish we ordered it with extra chicken Basil fried rice - good variation and combo Chicken massamun curry - I can drink this, it is that good. My only complaint on their to go curry is the rice that comes with it is not good. I didn't realize it came with rice and ordered a side rice and was very thankful I did. The rice with it is packaged in baggies and is not okay (reason #3 of not a five star). There regular side order rice is good. Green curry is also good! Also fyi spicy is good enough hot.
