I have been going here since the place on PPW by the diner got seized by the marshals and I have to say I've been pleased. Prices are competitive, they do a good job and their hours are decent enough for me to get my laundry. The guy who seems to always be there is always friendly as well. read more

8th Green Cleaners - Laundry Services Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

When we moved to Brooklyn, we moved into a place that did not have a washing machine. Luckily, this place is right around the corner! So while I look like the requisite crazy lady with my cart of dirty clothes every Saturday morning, I have clean clothes for the week. Prices are about standard fluff and fold, and we've had no problems with my husband's work shirts so far, so we're sticking with them. (Shirts from our old cleaners in the city kept coming back with weird rust stains form the iron) Everything is ready, packed and overly dried in that fluff and fold way. So while they won't treat your clothes with kid gloves, it's great for towels, sheets, and all that other simple, cotton stuff. read more

The guy behind the counter at 8th Green Cleaners must have a photographic memory, and for that, I give this place 5 stars. I seriously don't think he's ever looked up my account. I walk in and he quickly grabs my laundry and dry cleaning, saving me precious moments and the annoyance of having to spell my name aloud 2-3 times. And more than once, he's told me my husband has already been there and picked up the clothes. I'm thinking of inviting him to Thanksgiving this year (the guy behind the counter, not my husband. Undecided on whether the later can come, although it's looking good for him if he continues to pick up the laundry). Bonus points because the older lady who does alterations once attacked me with a lint roller for a solid 8 minutes and saved me from showing up at a meeting covered in my white boxer's hair. She can come to dinner too. read more

The proprietors are SUPER nice so it pains me to write this, but I've just put on a pair of sturdy cotton underwear with 2 holes in it. This pair of underwear has been worn *once* before. I had brought it to the laundry drop-off service here and, like many, many pairs of socks and t-shirts and even thick cotton button-up shirts -- it comes back with small or medium HOLES. It took me months to notice that I always had new holes, and I am not a motocross racer or something. I work an office job. And no, I don't have moths. The holes often look ripped and mechanical. They're not small. I have complained about this to the proprietors, suggesting that their mass laundry technique, setting, or machine is too harsh. They apologized and I tried again a couple times, but nothing changed! I have wasted TONS of money here only to get back mysteriously hole-y new clothes. ALL the cute socks my husband got me last winter in Japan and Spain are ripped. Less than a year later! Sadly, I felt compelled to write this so other people spare themselves the economic waste of ruining new garments. read more

Just wanted to chime in because some reviews below indicate that this cleaners is not "eco." That might have been true in the past but I just went there and asked about this. Sounds like they do use the type of dry cleaning chemicals that are better for the environment. read more

The hangers that say "We (heart) Our Customers" couldn't be any more true. 8th Green Cleaners truly appreciates their customers. When I first moved to the neighborhood I went to a different dry cleaner but after an unacceptable customer service experience I decided to try 8th Green Cleaners. I have been so impressed with his service that I started bringing my pound laundry to him as well. He always remembers my name and can find my order without my ticket. Sometimes it's the little things that truly go a long way. A large majority of my clothing is silk and wool. Needless to say my dry cleaner needs to be on my side. I'm sure you've all heard horror stories of dry cleaners destroying or losing valuable clothing pieces. Not this guy. He really knows what he is doing. He even offered helpful advice on how I could clean the inside of my leather handbag at home. He offered to send it to a leather cleaning specialist if I didn't want to do it myself. I will never go anywhere else as long as I'm in Park Slope. read more

The owners are so friendly and helpful, and you can trust that your garments will be well taken care of here. My husband's business suits and dress pants and shirts always come back immaculate. And even though I do a lot of my own alterations, when I wanted an invisible hem on a delicate layered gauzy gown I knew that Ms. Kim would do a terrific job (and she did!). Her sewing and tailoring skills are simply amazing. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful small business right on our corner, but even if we moved I would still travel to 8th Green Cleaners for their excellent customer service! read more

Very nice and helpful people. They do basic repairs. They have a computerized customer database, which eases transactions. So far, no damage or screw-ups. I'm pleased with them and have made them my neighborhood go-to. Update: Shawn H. below me is right -- the guy never looks me up, which is to say he's memorized my phone number (the key by which they identify you). That bodes well for their ability to stay on top of details, i.e. not lose or damage your stuff. read more

I have been using this dry cleaner for 3 years. The service that I receive here is always excellent. They do a great job cleaning, repairing, and hemming my clothes. Their service is quick and as promised. Pricing is good and they accept both cash and credit. Check them out, you will not be disappointed. read more

Me: Hi, I have a few questions about your services. What kind of detergent do you use? Store: 2 days. Me: Sorry I was asking about the kind of laundry detergent you use. Store: Regular detergent. Me: What brand? Store: Regular. Me: Okay -- and for dry cleaning, what products do you use? Store: Regular chemicals. Me: So you're not really a green cleaners, then? Store: No, not really. Depends what you're looking for, but the name is a bit misleading... read more

I just wanted to note since it seems as though someone left a 1 star review and said they're cash only---which they're not, I've paid with cards many times. read more

I have used this place for dry cleaning purposes for the past two years. Service is excellent and prices are comparable to those in Upstate NY. Everything comes back well taken care of, and they are also great at repairing small holes in sweaters. Recommended. read more

After a long week of work, tiredly walking the streets of NYC and navigating the perils of the subway, all a guy wants is to come to a warm home and a cold drink. Ah! You fool. You forgot your dry cleaning... While forgetting something else may have further dampened the mood, forgetting my laundry put a slight spring in my step because it meant a visit to 8th Green Cleaners. In this sanctuary, the price is right, the atmosphere inviting, and the customer service top notch. I've used 8th Green Cleaners for wash and fold, dry cleaning, and hemming. They do it all and they do it well. Kim, the man behind the counter, is of the most pleasant and professional people you'll ever come across. Do yourself a favor, come here. read more

Great service. Super friendly and fast service. By far the best cleaner I've been to. Always remembers me, always professional.

I brought 2 shirts and 1 dress on a Thursday around 1 pm. They told me I could come pick them up between 5:30 and 6:30 pm on Saturday ... not really convenient but ok... I guess I will just come on Monday (they are not cheap btw so...) . When I arrive on Monday several buttons of one of my shirt were broken. But they only go buy buttons on ... Sunday ! So I have to wait until next Tuesday (yes 8 DaYS later). I asked: "why didn't you call me on Saturday to let me know and buy the buttons yesterday?" ... no answer ... Ok .... when I arrived 8 days later... "oh sorry I tried to call but I did the wrong number and called another lady". They couldn't find the same buttons so weren't sure with which buttons to make the replacement ... ok I choose the buttons and decided to go grab a coffee waiting for them to finally get my shirt done ... I got it back ... the tailoring job was really bad, I will have to saw the buttons again because they are not correctly placed and the shirt doesn't look good this way...it kind of curls in between... I am really not happy about this place at all. read more

I tore a beautiful green suede jacket. Their repair job made the damage undetectable. Also, very good laundry service for business shirts and dry-cleaning. read more

Seems like this business is cash only for certain people. Just tried to pick up my dry cleaning and they wouldn't take my debit card because it was under $20. Just fyi you're allowed to set a credit card minimum at $10 under federal law, but not a debit card minimum. Pretty shady. read more

Please note that the telephone number provided here (and elsewhere on the web) is not correct. I do not know what the correct number is. Alas, after two tries, I don't think I'll ever take the opportunity to review their service. They do not deliver or pick up, or so they told me the first time I walked in. And they also said they could not press a suit overnight. Could be the finest dry cleaner in town, for all I know. But those are two services I routinely rely on from other cleaners. read more

They do basic cleaning (not very thoroughly) but are doing very poor service in removing stains. Once they ruined my designer dress: they did a bad job removing a couple of stains and when they took it back to try again, they washed the dress and ruined it. They become very aggressive, even offensive when you point to the flaws in cleaning. I would not recommend anybody who has nice clothes to go to this place - it's good for laundering towels and tee-shirts. read more

Best dry cleaner in town. I walk 11 blocks with my laundry to come here. (They are kind enough to deliver it for me which is so nice!!) Fair pricing for the service, clothes well taken care of. Wouldn't go anywhere else!!! read more

We do all our dry-cleaning here (dress shirts, pants, coats, sweaters, wool scarves, etc.). I also have had pants hemmed and altered. The hemming was really nice. Looked original. They also added belt loops to some pants which didn't have any from the extra fabric from the hemming, and those looked perfect. Really quality work. Matching thread, even with the weird purplish thread that those pants used. Super job! Had some jeans altered (waist taken WAY in), and those turned out fine, although not quite perfect. That's a really tricky job though. They're also in the process of replacing the button on my jeans, which came off in the wash. Looking forward to picking those up! If you live in the neighborhood, you should definitely consider coming here. read more

I brought laundry here to drop off and when I picked it up, I realized that I did not get back all of my clothes and even ended up with other people's clothes in my bag. I called them several times to try to find my clothes, they were not helpful and did not seem very concerned or apologetic. The rest of my clothes were clean and folded, but I'd be cautious of bringing any highly-valued clothes here. read more

I gave s blouse to dry clean. They laundered it instead. it shrank, of course.

The couple is amazing. Super friendly and helpful. They care about what they are doing. I took a dress there and when it was ready they realized there was a teeny spot still on it. I wouldn't have noticed it if they hadn't told me. They knew I needed to wear it so they said after I wore it I could bring it back anytime and they'd clean it for free. They are quick, reasonably priced and very friendly. Love doing business with them! read more

Not the cheapest dry cleaner, but reliable and friendly. Sung (pronounced "Song") knew us by heart the second time I went in, and walked a heavy load of dry cleaning home with my wife. And we've had no problems with our clothes. read more
