As a fan of Terrace House, I definitely bookmarked 88 Tees as a stop. It's also very convenient as it's located on the main Waikiki street. We visited twice actually -- the first time just to take a look and finally see what the store is like and the second time is because I wanted a particular hat so we stopped by to get it. During our second visit we actually saw Avian!!! She was super nice and friendly, helped us find the cap we wanted. I was so shy so my boyfriend helped me ask her if she was Avian haha (we were honestly both shocked to see her at the store!!) Definitely a gem to visit -- truly ohana vibes in there PRO TIP: 1. If you are purchasing, make sure to ask them about any promotions. Avian told us if we follow her or the store on Instagram and post, we can get a free t-shirt! 2. The store is kind of hunt for a treasure vibe so if you are looking for something in particular, go on their website and ask one of the friendly staffs to help you find! 3. 1/31/23: Massive selection here, you could literally spend an hour or so just looking, and then another 30 mins separating them into your Yes/No/Maybe piles, and then another hour looking through more shirts to replace the one's you've just discarded to the "no" pile. Great quality, soft shirts, long-lasting print screening is used (unlike the low quality heat transfer method you'd find at those 5 for $20 t-shirt booths). My absolute favourite place to shop in Waikiki. It's not close. Their selection of t-shirts, hoodies, and other clothing make for the perfect souvenirs. Walking up the steps lined with licence plates, you enter a dimly lit shop filled to the ceiling with branded 88 Tees clothing. This is my happy place. T-shirts adorned with cute characters and aloha vibes printed in limited runs. I love digging thru the piles upon piles of options to find the perfect shirts to bring home as newfound treasure. What I love most about this place is the staff. They are just so fantastic to speak to. My wife, daughter, and I spent well over an hour speaking with the staff and family friend about their roots in Japan, Taiwan, and of course, Hawaii. But I think this place had a little better quality shirts than ABC stores, if you wanted to get a bunch of souvenirs. Have always wanted to come by this spot to grab some clothing ever since I saw Terrace House! So glad that this year I got the chance to stop by and omg, the selection amount is insane! First, I am embarrassed to say that despite the fact that I lived in Waikiki for over 6 years I never ventured into this delightful shop. They moved from their Kuhio Avenue location to a second floor spot on Kalakaua, just Ewa of Lewers Street. As you climb the stairs you'll see license plates from all over the country on each level. Once inside, you're greeted by one of the lovely ladies who not only tells you where things are but deftly folds tee shirts while she speaks. This cavernous space has tons of tee shirts, hoodies, aloha shirts and collectables of all kinds. Jack rang me up, while confessing to him that it was my first, but definitely not my last, visit. Last day in Hawaii and I made sure to stop by 88 tees. Amazing customer service, everyone was so helpful and we even got to meet Whiskey (their french bulldog). Super cute store that was branded in 88. Started off as a vintage store selling vintage items and clothing before the owner decided to make her own shirts. Now making their own t-shirt designs they have expanded! They expanded out to 6 stores and downsized now to just 2 stores. This is the original and a few blocks down across the international marketplace, the 2nd smaller store is there. They have the same designs at both spots, but since the original store is bigger they have more in stock. One bad thing about the store is that everything isn't organized by design but by size. So sometimes it's hard to find that design you may be looking for. But it's also pretty fun having to search for what you want. It feels that much more satisfying once you actually find it! The original store also has a bigger storefront for the owner's daughter's store ILA swim! Super cool. Love coming to this store to find those hidden treasures! Such great service at this cute store! I had been here once 15 years ago and made it a point to come back this trip. It hasn't changed much from my memories of it from back then. The staff here this time were definitely more upbeat and helpful than I remember from before and they gave a lot of freebies with purchases (like a free cd of the playlist they were playing in the store, a 10% off future purchases card, and a reusable tote bag). I brought my friend who lives in ala moana here and she had as much fun looking around in here as I did. She liked it so much she ended up getting a couple of really cute dresses here. (They have one small fitting room hidden in the back if you want to try things on - just ask one of the salespeople!) We were here so long that one of the guys checked in with us asking how we were doing..I said I was super thirsty so he ran to the back and brought out two Fiji waters for us! Like many Asian Americans living outside of Hawaii, I was introduced to 88 Tees through Terrace House. But the chance to meet Avian as she's helping to close shop isn't why we found ourselves coming back again and again. The vibe is funky and fun, the music is always banging (they also give out CDs of the mixes they make and play in the store!), and their clothes are really great for the most part. My husband did buy a pair of sunglasses for like $6 that disappointingly broke after a week but we have been pretty happy with everything else we've gotten. I enjoy wearing their tees when on vacation--the cotton is light and breathable without being sheer--and my husband has a couple of their sweatpants which I'm obsessed with. I could be biased, but I think he looks REALLY good in them and they've held up nicely after multiples wears and washes. Finally, Avian and her mom are just the best! Last time we visited, I was 5 months pregnant and Avian's mom gifted me baby clothes for our son. We can't wait until he's big enough to wear them and to bring him back to this special place :) read more

I love this store! Everytime I visit, this is a must! All of their clothing are very cute! The only problem about this place is you have to be ok looking through piles of clothes. They do their best to organize it, but some sections do get messy and you have to dig in. I really like that they take your temperature before entering and asks for you to sanitize your hands. I felt safe entering. Also, I went at a time that it wasn't crowded. I always get a size bigger because sometimes I forget to hang it after washing and instead I would dryer it. Was here for vacation for about 5 days (not enough I know), but I had introduced my family here and wanted to meet Avian! But I ended up staying and coming back for the environment and the clothes. My whole family fell in love with the store that we had to go back a second time before we fly back. There's a huge selection here! Also the staff is super duper nice and kind. 88 Tees is one of the local retail clothing goods shops the tourist books all recommend checking out if you're in this area. It's Oahu vibes and branding at it's finest. The 88 tee's branding as well as their Hawaiian graphics and mascot presence is strong in all of their items. When first arriving at this location, it's easy to miss. It's next to an ABC convenience store or something similar, but the storefront isn't easy to spot nor is the signage very noticeable. It's literally a staircase up to the next floor where they're located. They were already really popular and doing well, but after the owner's daughter Avian appeared on the Hawaii series of Terrace house, their popularity and name got even more well known and blew up more. When you come up, they have covid checks for temperature. The location itself is very down to earth and eclectic mom-pop style store. It's setup reminds me of a Marshalls retail in terms of where you dig to find hidden gems and pieces. They have sweaters, hoodies and tshirts, and the graphic hawaiian style branding is very apparent. It like a cute-sy Hawaiian girl and boy I believe. If there is no graphic, they have 88-Tees slapped on everything. They do have some items more on the subtle side, so once again, you just got to look around and dig. They have 1 or 2 fitting rooms in the rooms behind the cashier desk so definitely try on to see if it fits well. Updating my review since I was able to go back to the store recently. I love the designs and I love the cut on some shirts. It's so cute, but it's so hard to find the perfect T since everything is a huge mess. I even asked the worker to help me and they couldn't find my size either. I REALLY wanted to buy something 88 tees, but ended up just getting an ILA SWIM shirt instead. The staff was really friendly. How have I never been to this shop before? Luckily I came with barely any tees packed for this trip because I walked away with a handful of shirts from this shop. They have tons of fun designs for men, women and kids. Prices average about $25 per shirt but they also have a few mystery bags which have at least 1 each men's/women's/kid's for $20 total. Pretty good deal. Met the shop owner Loukie Wong, and her daughter Avian Ku from Netflix's Terrace House: Aloha State. They were both super friendly, as were their staff. It was a little difficult to find the sizes we needed initially but their staff knew exactly where everything was supposed to be, even if other shoppers had rifled through the stock. Like most people, we came here to visit because of Terrace House! We were hoping to see Avian but alas, she wasn't there! But we decide to embark on the journey anyways and see what the place was all about! We get there and it's a super cool design already, by being an upstairs clothing store. You get up there and wow, it's bigger than we thought! Downfalls: Messy and overpriced. None of the clothes were folded except for Avian's corner and the price? WAY TOO OVERPRICED!! A white t-shirt with some writing was like $40. Uh, no thank you. But other than, we were able to meet her mom who came up to us and let us know we could ask her for any questions which was super cool. My visit to Oahu is complete now that I was able to go to 88 Tees! I came to see and meet Avian and all the workers were so kind and helpful, telling me when she might be in. The staff was helpful in finding the shirts I was looking for and giving me so many little extras with my purchase! The owner and Avian were so kind and they were so comfortable and willing to take pictures with people. They didn't make anyone feel rushed or awkward either. The store was awesome as well! The entry is awesome with the license plate covered stairs and upbeat music. The store is divided well into different sections so things are easy to find. This place was a hidden gem. We were looking for quality tees as souvenirs to bring home that weren't cheap material. And on our last day, we must've walked past this place everyday here, we stumbled upon this place. The stairway to the store was super cool, and the first thing I noticed walking in was how they played such good music lol. They have an abundance of tees in SO many sizes, and they're all super unique. Everything does get rummaged through so you do have to dig around, but they were doing a good job trying to keep it neat. The only complaint we had, was that they should've had some tall tees only cuz my fiancé is an XLT but nonetheless I got a shirt for my dad and my fiancé got shirts for his employees and his son. The employees at 88 tees were very friendly as well, I can't wait to come back and get tees! 2 years later and again I couldn't wait to come back. Still the same atmosphere in the store with great music. I got a long sleeve tee a shirt for my brother and my husband got a tee. It was nice that they had tees for my husband who normally shops for XLT size. I bought a couple pens and the guy checked to make sure the pens worked before I purchased them and besides the reuseable bag that I love and a sticker that was given for free I was also given a CD for free that's an hour long club mix of all the recent songs out for January 2019 and some oldies like Queen. I was staying in Waikiki for vacation, a friend of mine sent me on a mission to find him a shirt he'd seen online. Walked in to the 88 Tees store in the upstairs suite and was instantly overwhelmed with the many shelves and racks filled with all sorts of intricately designed shirts and sweaters. It was packed and a bit chaotic to be honest. I walked up to the counter and showed the guy the picture of the T shirt that my friend had asked me to buy, immediately he walked over and began rummaging through shirts. After about 10 minutes we finally found it. The last one. Great place for souvenir shirts, reasonably priced considering the fancy $$$ stores that surround it. Here for Terrace House, duh. But besides fan girling the whole time, the tshirt shop has a huge selection of Hawaiian/88 tee's themed shirts. Prices are a LITTLE on the pricier side but they are made of a very nice material (but beware - 100% cotton and they will shrink if you dry them). It can get a little messy in there which made for some digging around to find the exact pattern and size you're looking for. Staff will always try to help you and if not, will try to find something very similar. They have a lot of discounts around (spend more than $100 or check in, etc) so always look for that. We met Avian's mom, or the shopowner, and she was just the sweetest person who, upon learning that we were there because of Terrace House, gave us some more little freebies (including a cute Aloha 88 tee's tote and some lollipops lol). read more
