Kahala Mall had a deal between 12/5-12/7 where you could get specials at certain stores. I recently had a grandchild and like the infant selections at this store. I saw the sign where you could get 25% off an item in the window and went in. Maybe it was senior moment but lately I can go into a store for a specific item and leave with something else, only to kick myself when I got home. So when I went to purchase my items I completely forgot about the special. I wasn't reminded about it either. I went to Complete Kitchen and bought a couple of items there. The cashier was telling everyone about their sales and the discounts. So I went back to Up and Riding and asked if the items I bought (over $100) were eligible. They were and she did take 25% off the most expensive item. In terms of customer service the cashiers at Complete Kitchen were so much more helpful (not only to me because I heard their spiel to others too). read more

We often frequent Up & Riding for my kids. We mostly purchase slippers for the kids here since they have a lot of options. They have a lot of clothing as well from local vendors. Prices can be a little expensive for some items, but it is not bad for others. They also often have a sale rack. Make sure you sign up for their loyalty program to accumulate points for your purchases. Once you have so many points, you will be able to redeem it for money off your purchase. Staff are not always helpful or friendly, but they are young. Store is very neat and visually appealing. read more

Christmas shopping for little boys who are skaters but since I don't know anything about skating and what equipment they already have, just bought a couple of matching hoodies. Also bought a beach mat since they go to the beach a lot. The store has some cute clothing and gifts for kids. There is skating equipment too in the back of the store. I am hoping that if they don't like the jackets and beach mat, they can exchange it for skating stuff after Christmas. As others have mentioned, the staff just stand behind the counter and did not interact at all. The clothing in the shop was cute but everything was a little expensive. But the tings they had seemed like they were carefully selected with local themes. They had some really cute wood puzzles and books. read more

Cute store but terrible customer service. We have been to this store several times and every time we walk in, we are the only customers in there. The last time we were there, we were with our daughter looking for a new swimsuit. Three of the workers were cash register gossiping amongst each other and didn't even acknowledge our existence. Openly states the store is hiring via a sign displayed inside the shop with a QR code, and also under the "job listings" category on the Kahala Mall website, where both sources take you to an online job application form (jotform.com) that the store obviously does not check. I've gotten no response to a job application I sent in about 3 weeks ago, and the lack of response is highly unprofessional for the time that has passed, where I would've rather just been flat out declined. read more

Who would think but this store has the cutest things?! I always look at their window displays as i walk around their corner to get to the theatres. My daughter who lives in LA has friends who love "PINEAPPLE" stuff. And surprisingly they have cute ones! I have seen beach towels, neon signs, etc. I think it is tailored to kids but look at the cute night light i bought for my daughter's girlfriend's upcoming birthday next month. Found a place to buy 4-5yr old caps/slippers/backpacks at Kahala Mall! Just stumbled across this store at Kahala Mall on Friday in the space where the koa furniture store used to be (next to the Apple store). The guy said they've been open for 5 months but I guess I never really stopped to look past the Apple store before. I had 2 kids birthday parties that I needed to get gifts for and I ended up buying a few things from here. At Kahala Mall, there are only a few stores that sell kids stuff. I was looking for a child sized baseball cap. I looked at whatever that sports store is called next to Long's (Champions?) but they don't carry kids caps. I looked at Gymboree, but all they had were these fleece lined hats more appropriate for the snow. Kahala Kids only carried infant and toddler sun hats (I was looking for a 4-5yr old size). I was about to give up until I saw this store. This is a surf shop for kids. It's like a T&C or HIC but only for kids! They carry all the major brands - Roxy, Volcom, DC, Fox, etc. I'm not a surfer so I wasn't familiar with most of the brands, but they probably had over 40 boys baseball caps to choose from. They had slippers in all the small kid sizes, and I even bought a cool pair of sunglasses (100% UV protection!) that looks like an adult pair, only much smaller. I was looking specifically for boys, but they also had really cute girls stuff too - backpacks, dresses, slippers, bathing suits - you could probably find something at this store if you're looking for a birthday gift. They have sizes from the very tiny infant (6mo) to big kids (12yrs old?) Prices are reasonable. They take credit cards. They make gift receipts. Return/Exchange policy is standard. I've seen this spot turnover quite a bit over the past few years. I hope this store is here to stay! read more

A HUGE MAHALO to Jen, Ashley and staff for their AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I purchased a NO SAND BACKPACK made by Of One Sea for my daughter for Christmas and upon her first use of the bag in February the top part shredded apart . I paid $95 for the bag so I wasn't feeling just taking a loss on it especially since it was a gift for my daughter and grandkids. I contacted Up and Riding and explained what happened and because the return policy for Christmas gifts ended on January 31 they called Of One Sea and reported what happened. Of One Sea also provided me with excellent customer service and sent me a brand new bag and a warranty on it as well. Since the Covid pandemic I have vowed to support local businesses which is why I shop frequently at Up and Riding . And now I have added Of One Sea to this list!!! I just "fell" in to this shop while admiring their front window display! This is a gramma's paradise. When I saw the mini wet suit I was hooked. So many choices. There are many beautiful cute girls' items but it is not as common to find such a good selection of boys' clothes, hats and small slippahs! I especially liked an outfit of tee shirt, shorts and hat- and the price was about $100. To me, that is pricey. But for the occasional gift for my number one little man, it's a definite go to! read more

Worst customer service experience ever. No star isn't an option. I planned on coming here with my two girls for a few weeks since it's quite far from our house but I know both my kiddos would find some cute things. I was greeted by a nice younger guy asked me if I needed help told him my kids both need rash gaurds to start. He help my oldest pick some out and she went straight to the fitting room. Both my girls found cute rash gaurds and we moved on to slippers , both found one each. And a google. My oldest then decided she might want a new swimsuit. She picked one out and went into the fitting room. At this point my hands were a bit full so I went towards the counter to wait for one of the 2 associates there to hold my items while we shopped more. The guy was busy and the girl not once asked me if I needed help or spoke to me. So I continued to hold my items. As my oldest is trying on the one swimsuit she yells out to me that it's too big so I go back over to the swimsuits trying to get one down from the top ( I'm short so I cannot reach it no matter how hard I try) the girl offers no help to me the guy is busy ringing someone up. I have to ask my dad to come and help me. I find one and bring it to my daughter to try on ( now she has 2 swimsuits in there) that one doesn't work either so I bring a 3rd and take one out. (Still 2) All of a sudden the female associate comes up to me by the dressing room my hands filled with things we are getting and has the nerve to tell me (referring to my daughter in the dressing room) "since she's not getting anything can I take the things she has in there out?" I was thrown off guard why is she assuming we aren't getting anything? Then she says to me " if you aren't going to give me the things in there then I'm going to go in and get them" !?!!!! I told her my daughter is trying on a swimsuit she's not dressed She repeated her self " if you won't give me the things I'll go in there to get them then". I let them know how rude she was and how dare she threaten me that she was planning to barge into the fitting room to get the swimsuit "since you're not getting anything" while my daughter isn't dressed. Who does this to their customers!?! Who assumes that the customer isn't getting anything . If she hadn't done that we would've ended up leaving with everything I had plus a new swimsuit plus probably more. Mind you my hands are still full of the items we are purchasing. I told my daughter to get dressed and get out of the fitting room for whatever reason this girl wants us out. I paid for my 5 items $150 and left. You can bet I'll never go there ever again. This has been the most disappointing shopping experience ever. I hope she doesn't do that to anyone else's kids. Just because my child is 9 and not an adult doesn't make it right for anyone to pressure you into entering a dressing room where they are changing. Just wrong. read more

I came here to buy a gift for my friend's son because the clothes are just so darn cute and trendy. When I was ready to pay, the total came out to over $60 for a tank + a pair of shorts! Now, I don't have kids so I don't know what the average price for clothes would be but don't kids' clothes take half the fabric that adult clothes do so by logical thinking, the price should be less? Granted, the store probably doesn't have very much control of the clothing prices but they do have control over how much they charge for boxes. Yes, you read that right. They charge for boxes...$10 if you're not part of their frequent shoppers club. Best to save your money and head to Long's or Pricebusters to pick up a box or gift bag there. read more

Until I had my son, I never had a reason to walk into Up & Riding. Then Logan came around and I had to find board shorts because what little boy in Hawaii doesn't have board shorts?! So off I went in search of itty bitty baby board shorts and not only did I find them, I also found the holy grail of baby boy shoes. Nike, Toms and Van's. All in infant sizes and super adorable and squeal worthy. I know I could of walked into Nordstrom and probably found them there too but this little store had such an amazing collection and a really good sale area! I tried my hardest to not buy a pair of Tom's in every color. Don't even get me started on the Nike dunks. Unfortunately, Logan is so skinny and has such big feet that the shoes made him look like he had clown feet so I'll probably wait til his body catches up with him before I invest in a $45.00 pair of shoes lol. I'm glad I walked in here and I can't wait until Logan fits the rest of their clothing. read more

Forewarning - their return policy is not good. I wanted to exchange a t-shirt that my child got for his birthday for a bigger size and we had the gift receipt. They would not let us exchange it at all because they said it was purchased during the side walk sale. They gave no other alternative and sent us away.
