They had a reopening event so my sister and I went and got a T-shirt, bag and a mug with purchase. Great service and pastries are fresh and delicious. Grabbed a bunch to take to the Zoo to munch on. My to go to drink over there is the grapefruit.

    Strawberry cream cake

Stopped in for groceries at 99 ranch market, ended up leaving & down the road a few minutes and realized I left my water bottle in the cart. Drove back, saved my water bottle, and decided I deserved a treat, so ventured into 85deg Bakery. Inside, although a Saturday, it wasn't crowded so I could easily peruse the selection to decide what I wanted, with a mixture of sweet and savory selections in the clean, brightly lit store. I decided on a strawberry cream cake slice behind the glass. It's a light and airy cake and has a subtle strawberry flavor to the cake. Admittedly the cake was a little dry, so it was helpful they have the cream layers but it could benefit from maybe some jam in there to help with moisture and to enhance the strawberry flavor. The interesting and maybe my favorite part was the pudding like filling right in the middle. Not quite sure what it is but it reminds me of flan and I enjoy that texture. The cake didn't blow me away, but if you want an airy, subtle, not overly sweet cake this'll do

    Sea Salt Oolong Tea

I probably visit this location the most compared to others because of its close proximity to 99 ranch, making it easy to walk over after I finish grocery shopping. Small store but has everything you'd expect. I decided to try a drink today and got the sea salt oolong tea. A bit too sweet for me even at 30% sugar. Would've preferred the oolong tea flavor to be more present. On a side note, ordering cakes here is always a seamless process! Highly recommend for parties!

I was headed to a different coffee shop but passed it up and while going back I remembered this location so I stopped here instead. I love that this location is small. They have all the main things you want and you can get in and out real quick. My Vietnamese coffee was wonderful and I tried the spicy sausage today and it was really good.

85 has been a staple for me ever since I've discovered their Sea Salt Coffee. But today, I decided on trying the Sea Salt Matcha Latte and it didn't disappoint. The sea salt foam mixed into the matcha just made it a super creamy drink, and the regular sweet isn't overly sweet, i'd just maybe go 50% next time. Great color, great matcha flavor and super creamy I'd give it a solid 8.5/10.

A lovely chain bakery that has all kinds of Asian pastries and baked goods. Their Vietnamese coffee is only served iced with small ice cubes, so get a big straw. 8/3 they were giving away free keychains with a purchase which were cute!

I'm not joking when I tell you this is the best bread I've had in years!!! The little lemon muffins are too addictive, they have the perfect consistency it's like biting a cloud. The garlic cheesy bread is mouthwatering. Now let's get serious... the tiramisu cake here has me on a chokehold. When I say I've been going here multiple times a week I almost feel guilty for eating so much bread. It's just that good. You've gotta try it out, trust me. Prices are good and there's good parking. The people here are always kind and check you out quickly. Another thing I love is that they don't flip the iPad and ask for a tip it's just a very relaxing enjoyable experience. As you can tell I couldn't wait to get home and ate some in my car immediately after buying. Only detail is that there's really nowhere to sit, you just grab and go.

Came here around 8:30 am and only about half the bakery items were out. Maybe came too early but that was really disappointing because my favorite item wasn't out wahhhh. But what I did end up getting was good, as always. All the pastries are good so you really can't go wrong! And the latte was good.

    Kasey Z.

Similar to all 85 degrees, the bread selection here is always nice and there are a lot to choose from. I got a new danish brioche that they had which was good, but I think I still prefer the original brioche loaf. I came specifically to try the pumpkin spice drinks that they had, and the matcha one in particular. I thought that the drink was a little too sweet for me, and the matcha was not strong enough. I also tried the pumpkin spice latte as a coffee, which I enjoyed more, but also found to be a bit too sweet. Next time I will probably ask for 70% sugar!

Great drinks but their large doesn't have a large amount of drink or sinkers:( makes me a bit sad that it was 2/3 filled w ice... I should have gotten a milk tea from Ranch 99 next door for half the price and twice the milk teas. Only thing is 95 got more variety of options so I come here 1:3 the time. If they give more drink than the ice it may be 3/3... so o don't have to ask myself where is my drink and still be thirsty by the time get to Gessner a couple lights down from their store and I'm out of liquid and waiting for the ice to melt so I got water to sip on... 85 & 99 are both grab and go boba places. If they had more of a sit down and bathroom to use too when o need to make a pee-stop (excuse for boba most of the time) I'll stop by here more than Ranch 99 that actually have a bathroom & boba & bakery. Just gimme more of the milk tea and I'll be back more often :) I'll overlook the other short-coming of the store

    Sea salt jasmine milk tea
    Evelyn L.

I love 85 bakery, but for some reason every time I come to this location my drinks come out tasting different from the one in Katy & Chinatown. I got the sea salt jasmine milk tea and it was extremely watered down. The service is much faster and kinder than other locations though.

Pitiful amount of filling. Its mostly just bread.

My wife and I enjoy 85c and have been to this location many times for years. Recently we went to an 85c in Austin and we have discovered this Houston location is not as great. Compared to other locations, this Houston location really skimps out on the quality. For example, they really under-fill their coffee cruffin. The Austin location fill An appropriate amount of the coffee whipped cream so when you cut the cruffin in quarters, you get a nice amount from top to bottom inside the cruffin. When I cut the cruffin from this location, you get maybe 1/6th of the filling compared to Austin's. It looks pitiful. Their other offerings such as the Taro Buns are undefiled too compared to other locations.

    Rose L.

THE BEST VIETNAMESE COFFEE!! I've had a lot of Vietnamese coffees and this is hands down the best. It's not too burnt or sweet, just perfect. I also love their grapefruit tea, it's so refreshing! I've also had the sea salt coffee and it was pretty mid. Their strawberry de leche tastes like strawberry milk and was good. Their ube latte was good as well. Their buns are ok but I like their egg tart because it's crispy.

There is also an area that has children's books- in both Japanese and English! I was thrilled to see some of the books that I grew up with. The glass display showcases a variety of different pastries and sweets. There is also a separate menu above for sandwiches, crepes, and quiches! I was indecisive so I asked the owner for recommendations and she chose the Mont Blanc and Total Raspberry Tart. Both pastries were perfect- the tart has a raspberry cream on the bottom and the fruit was fresh and naturally sweet. Not to mention, the crust was absolutely delicious. The Mont Blanc was just as tasty. The chestnut puree, Chantilly cream, and crust were all *chef's kiss* And the best part of it all is that the pastries were not too sweet (for those of you who are new to Asian pastries, they are meant to be lighter and not overly sweet)! While my friend and I were enjoying the pastries, I was able to have a brief conversation with the owner and she was incredibly welcoming and kind. Overall, I was thrilled to be able to finally try Chez Kobayashi Pastries and I can't wait to come back and try their savory dishes! ごちそうさまでした‍

Inside you will also find French pastries, coffees and teas, gelato, milkshakes, sandwiches and macaroons. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. Inside you have the more fancy tables, whereas outside, they're more weather resistant and not as upscale in appearance. The soft drinks to drink along with your sweets are in a cold case along the hotel side of the space and you just take them to the register as you order. One of the most surprising things when you come here are the relatively affordable prices as you might expect them to be more for being a coffee shop attached to a 5-star hotel with a helipad.

What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service.
