Before we got started, my consultant, Adriana, asked me what style I was looking for, what I thought I'd feel comfortable in, and some personal details regarding wedding theme, colors, hobbies. She immediately was able to lead me to the type of dress I was looking for and I picked a few to try on. The second dress, a blush-toned A-line with a floral pattern was the immediate favorite from my mom and bridesmaids and Adriana assured me that alterations could be made to add off-the-shoulder sleeves, which was something I loved on another dress, but that the one I chose didn't have. She recommended a few shops that work closely with the boutique to make alterations. Though we were a little pressed for time, we made efficient use of that time and I didn't feel rushed at all. I tried on 4 of the 5 dresses that we picked out and as someone who hates standing in front of a mirror to try on clothes, I did not feel any of that self-consciousness when trying on the dresses. I felt heard, valued, comfortable, and myself since some of the dresses felt more elegant, more princess-y, or more proper and the one I decided on was definitely "me". They have payment plans, which is great for a bride on a budget and the price was so reasonable, which is one of the reasons I picked them. Adriana also made the time to make my fiancè and me little trinkets for our champagne glasses with charms that included our initials, our wedding colors, and a dog and mountains, which was such a considerate touch to an already lovely experience. Let me start from the top, I had the most amazing…read morestylist, Kendra, who reached out to me over a month before the appointment to get to know me, my dress preferences, concerns etc. Come appointment day, she made me feel amazing. I was a bit nervous because I had heard LWD was for women with higher budgets, but she had a large selection for me to look at even though my budget was only $2,000. After trying on a few dresses that I liked, but didn't love, she asked if I would be comfortable trying on a dress that was way out of left field of what I originally wanted. I said yes because she's the expert and I thought at least this way I can rule out what I don't like. WELL what do you know, I tried on the Anne Barge Naomi dress, something that was the opposite of what I envisioned myself in, walked out of the dressing room and found myself in absolute tears. My mom and mother in law were crying too! I had a lot of anxiety going into the appointment, with a fear that I wouldn't like any dresses on me and feel really defeated. This dress allowed me to see myself the way my fiancé sees me, and that's thanks to Kendra. She knew what would look good on me, reassured me she knew what she was doing but didn't pressure me. I had a few other appointments the next day so I decided to wait on making any decisions, but knowing what I liked on me and realizing it was completely different from what I thought, I was able to change the style that I wanted to try on for the other appointments. I ended up falling in love with a dress at a different shop (extremely similar) and was torn between the two. Kendra made time for me to come back 2 days later to try on the Naomi dress again. I still wasn't 100% sure because I loved the dresses equally. Ultimately I ended up choosing the other dress because it fit my venue better, but like I told Kendra, had they carried that dress, I would've 100% come and bought it from her at LWD instead because she was AMAZING and I can't say enough positive things about her and my experience there. I absolutely will be going back to hopefully buy my veil or accessories there, just because of how wonderful they are. If you are unsure of where to go for bridal shopping, I urge you to go to LWD because it genuinely made my wedding dress shopping experience from something nerve wracking, into enjoyable and memorable. Edit: I took my dress to my regular tailor and she salvaged it within a few days for literally a quarter of the cost of tailoring at TBC. Mia's Creative Tailoring is the absolute best! A service that I greatly appreciated was that the shop allowed me to come in prior to traveling to Chicago for my wedding and helped me pack everything in my carry on suitcase. The owner, Carly, is just very rad, and has a gift for creating a relaxing, fun in-shop experience. Her method for helping you confidently choose between dresses was so good. You'll have to go to find out what it is. And it was SO necessary because I loved pretty much every dress I tried on which has NEVER been the case at other shops. I ended up saying yes to a SAINT dress, though I was obsessed with many of the other designers they exclusively carry. Came to this store to help my sweet friend try on dresses for her wedding. There were so many…read moredresses to try on in all sizes, and lots of dressing rooms and stations. The store was super clean and inviting. There was a little drink and snack station as well. The associate Victoria was amazing. She made the experience wonderful for my bride. There were lots of different styles of dresses to try on as well as veils, and huge price range so you can find something in your budget for sure! My friend found a dress and veil she loved and I can't wait to see it on her next year. They don't do alterations here but will happily recommend some!
