My experience with erols was very positive. I needed a bridesmaid dress altered a week before the wedding. I went in, tried it on, they pinned what needed fixed. They were able to do it within a week without a rush fee. For a quick turnaround the price was reasonable! The staff were very nice and helpful. I recently took a $2K couture evening gown to Orhan for fit alterations (it was too big) and a redesign of one element of the dress. The fit alterations need revision as the top half of the gown does not fit and feels twisted on my body. The problems are: a. The center of the bodice is no longer in the center, clearly evident due to the sheer illusion panel in the front (see photo). b. The waist was taken in too much so it is tight and causing puckering at the back waist and the zipper is misshapen (see photo). c. The skirt of the gown has puckering (that I have experienced in the past caused by the lining not being adjusted correctly when the dress was shortened). Orhan said he left room in the waist that could be let out to fit, and he thought this would also correct the problem of the off-center bodice. He denied that the puckering in the skirt had anything to do with the lining and took great offense to my blaming the puckering on his workmanship. He said there is no puckering. The puckering all the way down the diagonal front seam is obvious (see photo). He agreed that he would address problems a. and b. at no further charge as I already spent $650 for the original alterations. In the same sentence he also offered to refund my money. Then he threw out a zinger...he said "I think you have had a problem with us from the beginning". I wasn't sure if he was accusing me of ethnic racism or something else. I told him of my long history with Erol and Feliz before the business was sold to him and his partner, and he said that Erol and Feliz were good business people but horrible tailors, and that he was the excellent tailor. He repeated "you have had a problem with us from the beginning". My husband spoke up this time because I have been unfailingly polite to him and everyone in his shop. I did want him to fix the dress so it was wearable but after him going down this path I decided to take the refund and leave. When someone claims to be "the best", "an expert", "tradition of quality", holds considerable experience in dress alteration services", and charges the prices they do, they should expect to be accountable when there is a substandard outcome, especially when working on such an expensive garment. I took photos and measurements of the altered dress because the naked eye doesn't always see everything, and this seemed to offend him too, but it helped me understand why the dress felt twisted. He should have been embarrassed by the work product, not angry at me. I do not know if the gown can be fixed. The two shoulders are no longer the same width. The left front bodice is not the same length as the right front bodice when measuring shoulder seam to waist seam. Same problem in the back of the bodice which clearly does not have a level horizontal waist seam anymore (see photo). read more

I am going to give them a chance to fix what they did, but I don't think they can, and if not, I'll never use them again. I brought two unfinished "classic cut" men's suits and a classic cut tuxedo in for finishing. The tags on them said classic cut. I am a 50+ year old, slightly pudgy guy. I bought classic cuts for that reason. What I got back had been turned into "slim fit" cuts as far as I can tell. No wonder they charged so much, they had to have taken them completely apart and removed a lot of material. They might fit a slim 25 year old just fine, but not me. I can barely get my foot through the foot hole opening in the legs. The calf area is so tight it is basically form fitting, like i am wearing spandex. When I squat or bend down, my privates are squeezed. When I cross my arms across my chest, I can feel the stitches straining in the back of the shoulders. They're so tight that having anything much bigger than a credit card in my pockets creates noticeable bulges, forget about a cell phone of anything larger. They are simply uncomfortable to wear now. My guess is, they can't fix this because they removed the material they'd need to put it back to a classic cut. If so, I'm am out about $9500.00. $4K for the original purchase, their $1.2K fee, and then repurchase of another two suits and another tux, plus whatever the new tailor's charges are. This is really bad. Really bad. We'll see if they can undo their own work.... read more

Absolutely the worst service I have ever encountered! They ruined 4 dress shirts and 4 pairs of custom made pants. I came back to have my custom pants altered after I already paid them twice and was told I was rude and waited too long for them fix the simple issue. We agreed on a 10% discount, which was ridiculous and then someone from the alteration room came out and starting yelling at me and threw me out. Used to go here a few years ago and had good experiences, but went here a few weeks ago to have an expensive and complex pair of pants (Boris Bidjan Saberi P13s) that I've had for awhile but they are too large for me. The younger gentleman handled me not Erol and he told me that they fit me and really didn't need much altering, which is madness with how oversized for my body they were. The only spot he wanted to change was bringing the crotch in, I said that yea it needs to come in a bit, but the pants have a deliberate slight drop crotch, which he seemed to somehow be unfamiliar with. And I related I was more concerned with how ill fitting and large the legs were. He then asked if I want the legs shortened, again, I had to Inform him the very long inseam is a design feature to cause stacking up the leg, hence the need for the legs to fit snugly. Exasperated and feeling the need to show him the intended appearance of the pants I informed him that I'm wearing the same model of pants in a different color, if he wants to take measurements / take a look at them, he....declined and said he's got it. I was surprised and worried...but I trusted my past experiences here and the shops reputation and paid the 120$ and left. 2 weeks later I picked them up in a hurry, gave a quick try on and they fit a bit better. But it was when I got home and inspected the seams and saw how uneven the density of the seam is, and these pants are famous for the elaborate piping that encases and protects the seam, which he cut half of it off and left some of it...but the main problem is the pants still don't fit right and are too large. Luckily my wife is an amateur seamstress and saved the day and got the proper fit and strengthened the inconsistent seam the shop put on my finely crafted and expensive artisan pants. I stopped by Erol's Tailoring last week, as the hem had come out of my dressy Bermuda shorts. Needless to say, I wasn't even sure they would do something so small. RUINED MY WEDDING DRESS What I needed: Arm pit area taken in and the slip brought up. What I got: Beaded area cut, POORLY sewn together had to send back because beads were not even sewn back on and were hanging off. CUT the slip and made too tight; they took off so much fabric it can't be fixed. I had to send this back to get "fixed" twice and finally gave up because they messed it up so badly I had to accept it could only be fixed so much. I even had to argue about why I wanted the dangling beads sewn on correctly. I paid $145 for two minor alterations and ended up with a ruined dress. When I left Erols wife told me "It's hard because you have such a delicate dress" So to add insult to injury they didn't even accept responsibility and blamed my dress. read more

I took in a jumper to Erol's - usually I'd look for the place with cheap options, but since I was wearing the jumper as a member of the Bride Tribe at my oldest friend's wedding, I prioritized skill over cost. The jumper was taken in well - had maybe a cm too much left in my crotch, but was PERFECT on my waist and legs. Lost a star because of the crotch thing and also because it was ridiculously expensive. Likely will not go back, even if the result was good, if only for the cost. Would recommend this place for very fancy items and nothing less. read more

I know I'm not alone in fighting the dreaded clothing moth here in Denver -- and over the years I've had many of my favorite sweaters develop ugly holes. Because of a very favorable recent review I read here on Yelp, I took in six sweaters to see whether they could be redeemed. Picked them up today, and am so pleased with the work: if I hadn't actually written down where the holes were located, I wouldn't be able to tell that my sweaters had ever had a problem! I went in three weeks ago to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed. The woman called the dress ugly and not flattering first of all when I was being fitted, I should've taken that as a sign. She said it wasn't a big job and should be an easy fix. When I went back in after receiving a text that it was ready. The same woman was buttering me up with weird compliments. I just wanted to get in and out and I need this dress for a wedding I am in. Another woman presents my balance for me $298....for a simple pulling up the straps. The woman said she hemmed the bottom and took in the sides but it is obvious she did not. There are also scratches all over the dress now. It was brand new when I gave it to them. I told the woman that was ridiculous and I couldn't believe what the total was. I asked her if I could just pay and get out of there. She continued to badger me "how old are you, you are young, let me explain how this works" I said "I am not that young and I am not telling you my age this is so unprofessional" as soon as she swipes my card SHE TURNS she calls me a "mean and ugly girl" I try and grab the receipt and she yells "that is MY copy" It was as if she knew she was going to bully me into something ridiculous the entire time. After reading similar reviews about bridesmaids dresses: I realized that I have been duped by an angry, rip off business who are taking advantage of those excited to get a dress or piece of clothing altered. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. Go anywhere else. They are scary how they treat customers. There was also another customer in there when she yelled that I am mean and ugly. I am appalled. read more

I took my Mother of the Bride dress in to have the hem shortened. The dress has sequins and beads, so, I knew it would not be easy. A bustle was also done on the dress. I wanted to take my dress to a tailor who would not mess the dress up. After the measurements were taken for the alterations, Erol's quoted a very high price that left me shocked. I asked for a price reduction and was given one, but the price was still very high (few hundred dollars). I let Erol's do the work and paid the high price. When I picked up the dress and tried it on after the alterations, it looked good. When I look at the new hem, it may have taken extra time and care because of the sequins and beads, but I still think I paid way too much. My advice to anyone going for alterations is make sure you know the price up front and if you are not comfortable with a higher price, keep looking for a tailor that may be less expensive and still does a good job. read more

I feel like I've tried 5 or 6 tailors in the Denver area and have never been pleased with my experience. Every time, I left uncomfortable if my suit was going to be ruined or my wallet. Visiting Erol's was the first time I felt confident I was being cared for. Erol was very cordial and asked plenty of questions to understand what I wanted, or needed, done. Their pricing was right on par with other tailors' and when I returned I was happy to have a perfectly fitting suit. On top of that, the business is ran out of what feels like a cute old home. Do not bring your clothing to this tailor. Terrible. The business has sold and the new owners do not know how to tailor clothing. Awful experience after they ruined a new pair of pants I had brought in to have waist adjusted smaller. Basically they cut the fabric going down hips and I could no longer fit into the pants - I never requested the legs/hips to be altered - simply the waist. Pants were not salvageable. To rectify the situation - I asked to be compensated for the pants (I had never worn them, they were new). Long story short - I was made to feel that I was at fault. One of the men working began yelling at me that he wanted the original receipt to the pants before they would reimburse me. Yelling. In front of his customers. I did not have my receipt for my pants, but they were still available for sale online. I was eventually reimbursed, but not before being accused of trying to rip this business off. Been here twice for a bridesmaid dress and jumpsuit alteration. Very happy with the results! Each time I have asked them to adjust it twice (the second alteration being complimentary as it is built off the first). They are always busy which is a good sign. The only downside is parking with two spots out front, the rest being street parking. But they are quick with customers and usually have items done several days before the pick-up date. read more

Trusting a tailor with $100+ denim isn't easy. Especially when the customer in front of you in line is complaining about a job not-so-well done. However, my experiences with Erol's have been mostly good thus far. Unless you are 5'10", most of us women need to have our expensive jeans hemmed. And we all know when your fancy pants have gotten a bad hem... we've all been there. So I put faith in Erol's hands quite literally when handing over a new pair of Seven for All Mankind bell bottoms to his wife who helps out at the tailor shop. I was assured that they would do a good job and make it look like the original stitching. When I returned a week later to pick up my pants, there was a very angry customer at the counter who said that her red velvet jumpsuit had been messed up by Erol himself. After some back and forth, she left in a huff and I was sweating it pretty hard. What if my pants had gotten messed up too? Nope, they did just right. I love this pair of jeans because they were hemmed to perfection. Long enough to almost touch the ground (when wearing boots), but they don't actually touch the floor and don't get wet or dirty when I wear them. Since the positive denim experience, I've had Erol alter a few more pairs of pants and a dress. They do just fine with most jobs, just make sure you're specific with your requests and it should come out just fine. read more
