I brought in a Spirit Hoods robe to have the hood removed. They did remove it, so credit where due. But beyond that, the work felt very minimal. There didn't seem to be much consideration for how the robe would fit afterward, whether the collar would be comfortable, or how the final result would look. It now feels awkward to wear and looks more unfinished than tailored. On top of that, for how bare-bones the service was, the price felt rather high. So yes, the hood is gone -- but unfortunately so is the comfort. Two stars because the task was technically completed, but I'm disappointed with the outcome. read more

My friends zipper broke on a rather expensive heavy winter jacket that he needs to wear just about every day. It wasn't cheap, $100, but it was a very heavy duty zipper and I'm sure it was difficult to remove the old one and put in a new one. Pretty sure the zipper was not cheap either. I called when they first opened in the morning and after getting the info, the guy working there said that if my friend could get the jacket in there by around 10 AM, he could get it done the same day and he could pick it up before they close. So that's exactly what my friend did and indeed his jacket was ready before the end of the day. One of the other places I call said there was a two week waiting period for a zipper replacement. The guy did a very good job on it and we were delighted to be able to get it replaced for $100 and not have to pay 400 for a whole new coat. read more

Took an engagement photoshoot dress and wedding dress in for alterations. The engagement dress was something I bought on Amazon so the fit was awful. Wedding dress was just a bit too long (note: this was a simple Lulu dress so it didn't require much work). Sue is an expert tailor who also has reasonable prices. I am visiting from out of town and had a pair of jeans that had a 3 inch rip but not on the seam. I thought they wouldn't be repairable, but I brought them to Sue and she said "Sure, I can fix that." I didn't have high hopes because it's a large rip in a visible area, but when I came to pick up my jeans I was amazed at her fine work! She had blended the repair in with the grain of the jean fabric in such a way that it is virtually invisible! This is just regular faded denim fabric, not something with a pattern or raised nap to hide the repair. It's hard to find an excellent tailor, but Sue is the real deal so if you need anything altered or repaired you don't need to look any further than Sue at Larimer Square Dry Cleaners and Alterations. read more

Time and again this shop comes through for me. My two recent examples didn't have anything to do with cleaning, but strictly alterations/repairs. 1.) A dress of my wife's needed some some alteration work. They did an AMAZING job. She looked beautiful and couldn't be happier. 2.) The prices are more than fair, and she always delivers. She does exactly what you ask of her, and doesn't try and input her "expertise." You want a suit to be tighter and more trendy, done. 6/18/08 The prices are reasonable & the hem she did recently is great! I work in restaurants & have to wear suits to work, so I always get few scuffs around my ankles & my sleeves get a couple too from carrying food. They always come back perfectly clean. I point out the marks, but now she has started remembering me and my spots. It seems the owner is there everyday, but dry cleaning is only Monday through Friday. No bother to me & she is really nice. They have my vote for convenience, quality & kindness. Update 10/12/09 I really think Suki is awesome! She can sew, hem, button and fix anything--and if she can't she will be honest with you. She is still the best at getting stains out of my restaurant worn Ann Taylor suits. Love her!! read more

As a frequent Yelp reviewer, I cherish when I have the opportunity to give a local business a 5-star review... and I get that exact opportunity with Larimer Square Cleaners! Needing a tailor for two new suits I had just purchased, I posted a Facebook status update for recommendations and two different friends of mine who don't know one another each highly suggested I take my garments to all (maybe) 4 foot, 6 inches of owner/operator, Sue. I was not disappointed when I did! She perfectly altered my suits to my requested specifications, charged a very fair price, was welcoming all three times (complementary measurements prior, formal fitting and pick-up) I visited and made me chuckle on more than one occasion! Her shop may be small just like her but in both cases, great things come in a small package. Not the best cleaners I've been to, but this will have to do for now. First off, I just want to let those of you that aren't familiar with the area know that this location isn't on 14th and Larimer. You must go into Larimer Square, and go downstairs past Tag Raw Bar and Chocolatier Blue to find it. The women behind the counter, Suki, was nice and was busy helping another customer when I came in. The other customer was asking about having her trench coat relined-if anyone is interested in the same the price was quoted at $100, and the lining would be the same color as the coat (no fun designs/colors). Suki helped me pin two pairs of jeans to have them hemmed. After reading other reviews I thought I would be told to come back in a few days, but instead I was told to come back a week later (Saturday after 4PM). Sadly, I went to go pick up my pants yesterday and the location was closed! Very nice employees, clean shop, decent prices for downtown, but why tell me to pick up something after 4PM when the store closes at 3PM!? read more

She also sewed in the sides for me so that the dress fit me better for only an additional $10. If you have a regular shirt you need it dry cleaned, maybe this is the place to go. However, if you have any silk shirts or clothes you care about, stay away. I've moved to Denver from big cities (NYC, SF, LA, HK) and have never had so much trouble with dry cleaning until coming here. Unfortunately, I've had way too many terrible experiences with this place. I own a lot of silk shirts for work and am pretty familiar with the cleaning procedures. 1. One of my silk shirts came back ripped at the top of the sleeve (not bottom). I was told it was my fault as silk is delicate and the shirt may be too small on me - it's not; it's actually two sizes too big. They were kind enough to fix it, but why are my shirts coming back ripped? 2. I've had two silk shirts come back shrunk. How could I tell? The edges were shrunk, wrinkly and wavy. I had advised them that whoever they are using for cleaning is utilizing way too many chemicals. Of course, once silk is shrunk, there's no way of expanding it out again like wool. They said they switched providers thereafter, but who knows 3. Silk shirt came back dirty. The owner did offer to clean it again, but a good dry cleaner takes a look and either decides to toss it back for second cleaning or advise that the stains cannot be removed. I had a water stain - which I know from past experience - is removable, and for some reason they were not able to remove it. Basically, they went from using too many chemicals to none. I took the shirt elsewhere and all the stains were removed without a problem. 4. Quite expensive for the services they are offering. I've since found a better place that cleans better for cheaper - but it's been a journey. I can't comment on their tailoring services. read more

Suki! My long-lost grandmother. She never judges me for spilling makeup or for having clothes there days past the recommended 2-week pick-up date. She typically has a quick turn-around rate for dry cleaning of a few days and max a week for tailoring, I've never had any complaints, and I've never had any bad experiences with her. She's always in good spirits and her stories are always on the TV. I think the prices are reasonable especially considering the quality of work and not nearly as high as many gimmick-y chain cleaners I've visited all over town. read more
