I love this place. The coffee is great, and most awesomely, it's unique. The service is friendly and competent. Lots of seating, lots of outlets and not too noisy. It's pricey, but welcome to FiDi. My one complaint is they try to upsell you. Like, I'm sure your pastry that's unique to Puerto Rico and that I've never had before is delicious, but I need to get going and I don't want to dip into my 401k for it. read more

Walking the streets close to my hotel I stumbled across a big PuertoRican flag infront of a business and I knew I wanted to check out what it was. It happened to be 787 Coffee which I have visited plenty of times on the island and enjoy. With excitement and in Spanish I tell the cashier that I was happy to come across this place as I have tried them out in PR. How is it that this "jibara" apparently from Maricao, spoke to me in broken English while I am talking to her in our native language, total fail. Anyhow, I ordered the coquito hot latte with an extra shot of rum and oat milk, fine, I paid $11 for a very small coffee. Now what I can't believe is that the quesito pastry was $8. I really wanted it but it was not until I paid that I then noticed the price. I sat to eat it while I waited for my name to be called as mentioned by the cashier. I walked around looking at everything, the music very loud and hard for people sitting to have conversations, the place is very colorful and with many PR sayings, however the place also feels very Americanized with the music and layout. I still awaited my name to be called minutes later, but nothing. I approached the cashier, who was just standing there, to ask about my coffee and she wasn't able to tell me so she asked the barista steps away from her. He pointed to a cofre sitting on their counter, it had my name, and when I pointed out that I was waiting for my name to be called, she shrugged her shoulders and smiled like she didn't care. The coffee by now was not all that hot, I never tasted any rum or coquito flavor and felt I wasted my time at this place. What's more upsetting is that I left a nice tip for a service that was not provided. They couldn't even bring the coffee ti my table once they realized it was sitting there and they forgot to call my name. You can find better service elsewhere. read more

While in NYC this past weekend, we stopped in for a quick coffee to warm up and also to wake up for the rest of the day! The atmosphere was very fun and it was interesting to look around! There was plenty of seating and quite a few people were working / studying there. I liked that they give an option for which roast is used in the cappuccino (although two of the roasts are a $3 premium)! I selected the regular roast and was really happy with the flavor of the cappuccino! It was rich and didn't taste like the coffee was over roasted which happens at a lot of places. I thought the base price for a cappuccino was reasonable ($6) considering New York pricing. The staff was very friendly and happy to make any adjustments we wanted! I found this place through a friend. He highly recommends their coffee and is a regular here. I gave it a try. It definitely tastes good. I've only tried their hot coffees and hot lattes. It is marketed as Puerto Rico's finest coffee "fresh farm to cup". I've never had Puerto Rican coffee before this store, so I can't really compare it to anything. It's naturally less bitter than most other coffees I've had. The flavors they offer are super unique like Mazapan Latte, Horchata latte, and Coquito Latte. Definitely a healthier option than most, as their lattes are only 190 calories a cup. I love the latte art that they make. There is a cute decorated sit down area inside. read more

Decent gourmet coffee - Iced drinks come in a little bag which is kind of awkward because it doesn't seal all the way due to the straw so it might spill if you are no careful. I would have preferred a cup but I think people like it since it's new and different. I got an iced cold brew for $7. They also sell coffee beans. Currently 787 Coffee Shop locations are in New York, Texas, and Puerto Rico. The coffee process starts in Maricao, Puerto Rico! The beans are grown at the highest mountain tops and no chemicals are used! The team member at the register had informed me about the history of 787 Coffee since it was my first time at their location in the Financial District! I ended up ordering a medium hot chocolate and one order of their blueberry loaf slice. It was freshly baked! The blueberries were super scrumptious and the loaf was perfect! The bread was soft and crumbly! The hot chocolate was yummy too! It was a great breakfast! I'm so glad I had a chance to stop inside 787 Coffee! Located on Pearl St. near Broad St. in the Financial District, lower Manhattan. We stopped here for evening coffee after dinner as it was near our hotel. We tried their 'Flat White', which tasted super good and a 'Herbal Tea'. The tea was also good but to my surprise, it was sweet. Not what I'm used to when it comes to tea, but it was satisfying, especially during this cold evening. They also have pastries to go with your coffee. They have a nice and comfortable setup in their lobby. Service was great, very friendly, welcoming, and nice baristas. I wanted to love 787 coffee. The employee who helped my friend and I was so kind and took the time to explain the menu. She was personable and funny and very kind. This storefront is absolutely gorgeous, with so much great info about their coffee production. I had the horchata iced latte and was interested to see it came in a bag similar to an IV bag it seemed. Once doing some research I saw that it was used for sustainability purposes which was really interesting to me. However, it was so impractical and almost instantly spilled all over me. The latte also had a very small amount of ice and was lukewarm at best. I wonder if I would enjoy the coffee more if I had gotten something hot as it seems like their roast is very sustainable and ethically made. read more

787 is one of the best coffee shops I've EVER been to. I've been to hundreds of cafes around the world and the ambience in this cafe is unmatched. Comfortable, Creative, Vibrant, yet, calm. Upon ordering they were so polite and recommended the best horchata latte I've ever had. With the beans being imported from Puerto Rico - 787 has a strong balanced milky flavor where you can taste all the notes and none of the elements of the ingredients overpower each other. The cherry on the top of this already perfect experience was that the owner of the shop came over to our table and asked us how we enjoyed the coffee. My girlfriend's cold brew came out in what amounted to a plastic IV bag with a straw in it. Why would anyone willingly choose this as a delivery device for a liquid? If this is the "I'm old and crotchety and screaming at clouds" hill I'm going to die on, that's fine, I am comfortable with that. My hot coffee fortunately arrived in a more standard paper cup but was rather mediocre. Everything seemed rather expensive too ($12+ for an iced and hot coffee). I stumbled upon this place because I was intrigued by how they had coffee in plastic bags. The last time I had a drink in a plastic bag like this was in China or Ecuador. The interior was very cute and corky. It had clocks on the wall but had painted watch bands that made it seem like a giant watch. There were plenty. of seats for those that would like to sit and enjoy their coffee, though they don't have any AC. My cousin and I ordered the Mazapan ($8) and the Coquito ($8). It is a tad pricy for a latte but I guess inflation and all. The coquito latte seemed to be the most recommended on yelp so I figured I give it a try. It was however, VERY sweet and not something I had anticipated in my coffee drink. You can really taste the expresso taste with subtle hints of coconut. I usually take my coffee less sweet so this gave me a huge sugar rush. My cousin's mazapan latte was really good. I actually wished I got this one instead. I did not choose this one because the menus online said that it was "a sweet and nutty experience". I did not mind the nuttiness but I did not want something so sweet. However, the mazapan latte was actually less sweet than the coquito but a lot! It says it contains peanuts inside, but the nutty flavor seemed more like a sesame to me, which I really liked. The barista recommended added rum to the lattes but I opted out of it just because I am not the largest fan of rum. Overall, it was a fun experience and I would stop by again if I was in the neighborhood. But this time, for the mazapan latte instead. read more
