    Yup, gonna try one.

This small coffee shop was near the hotel we stayed in and really accessible if you're in the financial district. Small space with not many places to sit, and a small menu. Both of these things were actually pluses in my opinion. Made the vibe feel very relaxing and non-anxious. There wasn't crowds of people hovering over tables. Though there was a line to get a drink. We tried the seasonal spiced latte, and it was a great mix. It tasted fresh and not like it was poured out of a premix, though I don't know if the syrup was made in house. We went back a couple of times during our visit because it was easy and great tasting.

I was having lunch next door and noticed that a Birch coffee had opened up, Super cool! I'd received a card to try any beverage from my last visit at a different location so I popped in to see if I could redeem it here. The staff was so nice they honored my card, and made me the seasonal drink, an Orange cream latte with oatmilk. It was so smooth, tasty and unique! They have their own machine to process non dairy milks call NuMilk and it's supposed to be healthier than some of the other big brands out there, as it is made in house with fewer ingredients and preservatives. I know I'll be back here soon especially since I have lunch in this area at least once a month. Thanks Birch crew!

Got a chai latte. Very delicious velvety texture. There was a bit of spice, too. I would honestly like more but I know that's uncommon.

Otherwise, it's another coffee place. :) That being said, the building and the interior are worthy of your time to stop in, especially if you are looking for a coffee and, like me, do not want to go to just another Starbucks or other typical coffee place. It's an old bank and they kept that esthetic, from the lobby and teller stations to the bank vault in the back. The prices here are very similar to other coffee places yet you are getting a completely different and elevated experience. :)

The ingredients felt quite high quality: the eggs were soft, the cheese was gooey, there was a good amount of meat. I think you could get a similar level of taste from a local bodega with a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll though. I unfortunately don't think this sandwich was differentiated in taste enough to be almost double the price of my bodega's. I was hoping the tomatoes would be richer in taste too. They did not have the level of "wow" or sweetness I was hoping for -- not bad but no added explosion of flavor that you might be able to get from really good cherry tomatoes, for example. Service: The service is good here though! My friend and I had come here for lunch while waiting for the Ikea ferry on the weekend because there was a 1.5 hour window, and the staff were kind enough to let us pay early in order to not be stressed about catching the ferry on time. Ambiance: This is honestly the biggest selling point of this cafe, which would bring me back. The lighting is so dim and pretty, and the architecture is quite grand. If I happen to be in FiDi, I would be open to grabbing a drink here, but I would not necessarily go out of my way to check it out.

Upon arrival we noticed the difference in crowds. Not as busy and packed sidewalks. Also it was a lot cleaner than Chinatown. Since we just ate at C-Town, it was time to find a good dessert place in K-Town. So we walked and we walked until I saw a banner sign showing shaved ice desserts. Then I noticed the name of the business is Grace Street. How fitting, because that is my wife's name. So we went in and what caught my eye was a mango shaved ice with mangoes, mochi, strawberries, and condensed milk, however I was over ruled by my wife and we went with the black sesame and mochi and condensed milk. It also had red bean, but that had to be on the side, since that gives me gout. Such nice staff taking orders and we went into the dining area to find a seat. What a large spacious area with many tables. Our order came out and it looked so good. The black sesame shaved ice or snow as it's also referred to as, was perfectly sweetened by the condensed milk and the chewy mochi. Definitely cleaned my pallet from our Chinese lunch and it helped cool me down from the New York heat. We got water, but there was no ice offered, so I asked one of the workers and he was kind enough to get me some. We are through that dessert like, if we didn't finish it fast, it was going to melt. We did not give it a chance to melt one bit. The staff here are efficient, as they saw we were done, they asked to clear our dessert bowl away. It was a nice experience even if it was just dessert. They definitely had more dessert options to offer, but i

I really enjoyed their matcha basque cheesecake with a prominent, deep matcha flavor. The texture was pretty smooth and loved how it wasn't too sweet. The Ho-Dduk has the lovely combo of sweet brown sugar/caramel flavor and creamy vanilla ice cream. When its hot, the dough is super chewy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The mango bingsoo had a good mango flavor; wasn't too tangy nor too sweet. Mangoes were fresh for the season. The elixir or the matcha bingsoo was solid too, but I still preferred the strong matcha flavors from the cheesecake. Lines sometimes are long but it also moves fast! After ordering, you get a buzzer that will tell you when your desserts are ready. Lots of seating options from tables to high tops.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I will say that's it's definitely not a good on-the-go sandwich, as it falls apart easily. However, I don't think this is a great spot for coffee. I was a bit underwhelmed by my latte, which tasted more like thin drip coffee than a rich, strong espresso. I also think they could offer more sweetener options.

Wrapped around the block but only took 10 minutes with three different people taking orders. Simply a walk up window so no seating but the streets of New York are prime to walk around and indulge on ice cream. Snagged a regular which is two flavors (though they don't seem to be traditional full scoops). Comes with panna whipped cream, an option of a drizzle, and a topping for crunch. Lots of time to view the menu in line since there are multiple taped to the windows. Cookies n' Panna - this was especially creamy, smooth, and flavorful. Good blend of Oreo cookies with a creamy chocolate overall profile. I'm not sure if I can give enough credit to this flavor but definitely try it. They offer panna on the top of all ice cream for a reason, their panna is delicious and they want to show it off (plus it's in the name like come on, can't be more obvious). Banana Moose Tracks - this had a nice banana flavor but unfortunately I think the cookies n' panna melting a bit on top overpowered the flavor. Hard to fully rate but I enjoyed the other flavor way more and would want to try another flavor instead of this.

Save your time and spend your money on other scoops Went on a Sunday evening 1.5 hours before they closed to find a very long line around the block. The wait ended up as 45 minutes. About 20 minutes in, a staff member yelled out to the line some type of announcement that the soft serve was not available (and a handful of people left). Evidently many other regular ice cream flavors were also sold out and unavailable by the time I got to see a menu. The signage is poor and ideally before people get in line, it should be clear what is available or not. There are tiny paper print outs for ice cream flavors visible in select places on the wall. When the line was snaking around I had to ask someone if I could see a copy of the menu and take a photo on my phone so I could review. When I got to the cashier I asked for a recommendation based on the few flavors that were left. She had no helpful input about the chocolate or the red flag sweet cream and when I asked what size corresponded to what price (since it was not labeled) she seemed to roll her eyes and responded. I chose the red flag sweet cream ice cream, which was supposed to have strawberry swirl and graham crackers but it didn't seem to have much of that noticeable at all. The positive about the scoops is that two toppings are included - and the panna whipped cream is good. Unfortunately whomever scooped my cup added a disproportionate strawberry that sauce caused my ice cream to be drowned and melt faster. It caused my cup to be unbalanced with the overly sweet sauce topping too. I hope they can improve their operations, availability, and staff training.

They also have cocktails on the menu which is something we definitely need to come back for. We got their spring specials this time but there are so many drinks I still want to try. The space is a bit cramped so it's more of a grab and go situation. The Banana Bread Hojicha ($8.75) was wow, it tastes exactly like it sounds. It was sweet enough for me without needing any additional sweetener. The only issue was that the hojicha came out a little grainy, so I think the barista didn't mix it as well as they would matcha. The Cherry Blossom Matcha ($8.50) was everything we imagined cherry blossom to taste like. A lot of times cherry blossom drinks end up tasting pretty off, but this one actually delivered. It's made with ground cherry blossom which I think makes all the difference. The matcha itself was good but the drink runs on the less sweet side, so my husband added honey and brown sugar syrup to his. By the time I got to try it, it tasted just as good as mine. We are definitely coming back for those cocktails.

When you enter there is a bar you can sit at and two large high top tables next to it. As you walk further in there is a lounge with couches and various sizes tables. The whole space is surrounded by books! Heaven! We ordered a chai, matcha and a ginger cookie. Shout out to the woman taking my order for comping me my drink for my birthday! Everyone from the staff was friendly - I really enjoyed being there. The only thing I would say is someone should come by to check on the tables more often as I had to return other people's abandoned drinks. But you know what first world problems, am I right? Maybe they can have a sign or mention to customers to return their own cups before leaving. I sort of can't imagine why people don't... I went there at 3pm and hunted for a table and my friend got there by 330pm. By the time we ordered and started drinking our coffees - we were informed the lounge area will be closed at 4pm to prepare for the evening wine bar. Oh right this cafe turns into a wine bar in the evenings! How cool! At 4pm we thankfully grabbed one of the high tables - sharing it with another couple but it was large enough for the 4 of us. The lights dimmed and the atmosphere changed to more intimate. We unfortunately had to leave at 5pm, but I imagined picking up a James Baldwin book, ordering some white wine and enjoying both....
