I highly recommend 786 Constructions for the good quality of their work, timely execution and good pricing. 786 Construction team helped us with installing new flooring, interior painting, insulation, patching, plumbing, caulking, vanity replacement, garage epoxy and a lot of other handy work like fixing a hazardous dryer vent. The garage epoxy that they installed is one of the best epoxy surfaces I have ever seen! They are a one stop shop for almost all major and minor construction and repair work. Irfan has been very responsive from the beginning, thorough and easy to communicate with. He goes into details systematically about all the work that needs to happen and the expectations are set about each of them. He is also detailed about the payment breakdown and have clear communication and good transparency about it. They tried hard to finish up the work on schedule and also had work done over some weekends. I want to preface this and say the garage remodel turned out beautiful... I think if you saw what it looked like, you'd definitely want it in your own home. At the end of the day, it was in the range $$ that I had expected but took longer (due to hiccups switching contractors). We wanted to do a garage remodel of our incredibly messy garage (technically, my parent's) Irfan and Terry stepped in when a previous contractor was unable to deliver the results we were expecting, despite giving them a much bigger budget than what others quoted for a garage remodel. It was the typical over promise, under deliver. They tried to pay as little as possible in sub and material to maximize their own pockets. We were not the least bit happy so I pinged Irfan for advice and help. We terminated the previous relationship (luckily, without any push back) and Irfan stepped in to finish the job. I ordered New Age pro cabinets from Costco, sink and tall cabinets, flow wall, door from home depot, backsplash/casters from New Age, lock from ebay and Irfan and Terry took care of the rest. They straightened the very uneven walls, primed, patch and painted everything. They got in a plumber to do the piping and a sub for the epoxy floors (absolutely need two top coats... it is textured, which wasn't exactly what I expected but it was still very pretty). They install the door/lock, straightened the stem wall, built out the dryer vent, added trims, insulated the roof, remount the water heater, add an access panel and installed the cabinets and sinks (which is harder than you think to get everything to align and they really thought of everything. They considered even the slope of the garage floor!) All together, including how much we paid the precious contractor (they did the ceiling, lighting, switches, check for mold, painted and did some attempts on the wall, floors, moved the garage door opener and installed the new side mount I bought), the garage probably was in the range of $25k to $30k (including materials I purchased, which can go cheaper or pricier... I shopped, waited for deals and found creative solutions. If you do custom cabinets, have added options or can't wait for sales, it's likely going to be pricier). I took care of the design/ color element and provided them a draft of how I wanted things to go. I checked out a lot of garage designs online and I have to say, for a moderate remodel, ours is gorgeous and very functional. I actually LIKE to be in the garage, versus dreading myself to go in there to do the laundry. If you are looking to remodel, definitely check in with Irfan. He's easy to work with and very responsive in the whatsapp group he created. You do have to be involved though... since only you know what you want, so definitely communicate as much as you can in advance and be specific. Here's the before and after, courtesy of Irfan. The bottom line is this: Ifran and his crew knocked out our giant project (complete garage remodel) on time and right around the quoted price. There were a few small hiccups and communication issues along the way, but I guess that's to be expected with any big project (especially now when everyone's tying to scramble and adjust to whatever COVID rules CA has in place that week or month). We had all new insulation, drywall, paint, epoxy and cabinets/installation. The cabinet installation was one of the trickiest parts and Ifran brought in someone who clearly knew exactly how to line everything up and make the vision all come together. A few years ago I hired Irfan to paint the exterior of our house. The painter was very professional and did a great job overall. Last year again we hired Irfan for our kitchen remodel. This time however we had a few issues - 1. Project delays. The project took double the time that was initially estimated. 2. Dumping debris from his other projects in the dumpster parked in our driveway. Apparently, this is standard practice. 3. Electrical issues around permitting. Eventually resolved but was a major pain point. 4. The project site was not kept clean as promised. They didn't keep the work area sealed. The work was non-trivial; we had to break down the whole kitchen and rebuild it differently. 786 did a good job making this as convenient as possible for us. In between we also discovered and fixed water damage below the dining area floor. Overall building a kitchen is a highly onerous task and Irfan and his staff were very helpful. They did particularly good work installing a cabinet in the space below the stairs. They were also quite cooperative in making changes and improvement for some things we were initially unsure about. I hired Irfan to design, tear down, and rebuild my detached garage. It was a long, stressful process due to complications with our neighbor, but Irfan was patient and communicative throughout. Things that went well: - Irfan create a WhatsApp group with me and Terry (his partner) to keep everyone in the loop. - Irfan was always quick to respond to issues and/or questions. He was patient in talking through many different possibilities and solutions. - Irfan had very good working relationships with the inspectors and helped us navigate several challenges with the city in a calm and professional manner. - Irfan and Terry were supportive as issues with our neighbor escalated and construction came to a temporary halt. They helped us revise the plans and figure out how to work creatively so we could finish building the structure in a tight space. - Pricing was competitive. Things that could have been better: - It took Irfan's engineer/architect (Jose) 6 months to produce the plans. The drafts had basic errors (like numbers not adding up) which required numerous revisions. While I would recommend Irfan, I would not recommend this engineer. - Our ceiling ended up with a few support beams awkwardly sticking out that were not shown in the conceptual drawings. While the beams were visible after framing, I assumed (incorrectly) that the drywall over them would still be flat. I don't know if the engineer, the framers, or the drywallers were to blame, but it's something we wish had been identified and presented to us early on as a possible concern. One thing I didn't realize going in is that Irfan acts more as a manager coordinating what needs to be done, and Terry is the contractor that provides technical guidance. Irfan works closely with Terry, and this didn't present any issues, but I thought it might be helpful context for others. On balance, I'm happy with how our project turned out and I'd certainly consider using Irfan again. read more

I'm a very happy new customer! I fired off at least 7 messages to different companies via Yelp on Tuesday looking for a structural engineer to design a support beam to go into our roof so we can knock down a supporting wall. Irfan responded so fast, like within the hour, with a very reasonable quote and simple instructions for what I needed to send him in order for him to whip up some drawings. I literally had plans in my inbox the next day. These guys work fast! I also loved that I could pay my invoice via PayPal, which made the transaction easy. I now have everything I need to submit to the city for permits, and Irfan couldn't have made it easier.
