We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and it was our first visit. Our food was incredible and our service was great! It was raining so I called ahead and they were able to keep our reservation and move us inside and we had a two top by the window which was a great spot. My husbands birthday is on our anniversary, and the only mix up was us thinking that the chocolate cake was included since she offered us a birthday / anniversary dessert but that was a small thing.
We chose this spot for my birthday dinner, and it exceeded all of our expectations! Valet is available for $10, but there is also free street parking. We had reservations and were seated quickly. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with amazing hospitality and warm, friendly vibes. We sat on the patio and enjoyed beautiful views of Wayzata Bay, which made the evening even more special. Our server, Taylor, was fantastic. She explained the menu thoroughly, offered great cocktail recommendations, and walked us through the specials. Every interaction felt genuine and welcoming. A special thank you as well to Julio, who stopped by to check on us and surprised me with a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday, such a thoughtful touch! Some of my favorite dishes of the night were the baked and loaded potato, which was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin, and the char-grilled sweet corn. As someone who loves sweet corn, I especially appreciated that it was served elote style. I ordered the Roselle cocktail, which was delicious, and for my entrée, I had the jumbo seared scallops. The scallops were cooked beautifully, and the gnocchi they were served with were incredibly soft and flavorful. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, it was 10s all around. Definitely worth the experience, and we can't wait to come back for brunch!
We had the greatest time here celebrating a birthday! The patio has such a wonderful view of the lake and all of the staff here were very kind, holding doors for us left and right. The food was incredible. Truly everything we had was so delicious! I really enjoyed my Fat Burger.
6Smith definitely lives up to its reputation as an upscale lakeside bar and grill. The lakeside patio is adorable with cozy decor and great views, making it a perfect spot for summer drinks or dinner with friends. They also highlight five separate private dining spaces, which makes this a great option for larger groups and events too. Their happy hour seems like a fantastic deal, although it's worth noting that it's only available in the bar area and not on the patio. Our group ordered a variety of happy hour food to share, and the standout by far was the wings. They were easily my favorite thing on the menu, and honestly, I'd come back just for those alone! The lobster rolls were exactly what I'd expect from a Midwest restaurant. Nothing spectacular, but no complaints for $10 during happy hour. The Tuna Poke Crisps were decent, with a nice crunch, but they completely fell apart after a bite or two. The fries were solid as well. Delicious and homemade! Everything was beautifully plated. Our server was very friendly overall, but I was disappointed by her response when my gluten-free friend asked about menu options. She mentioned that the chef "doesn't like modifications, especially on the happy hour menu." Dietary restrictions aren't really the same thing as preference-based modifications, so that comment came across a bit snooty and left a bad impression. Overall, 6Smith has a beautiful atmosphere, a great patio, and some strong menu items. The wings alone are tempting enough to bring me back, but the service experience left me a little undecided on whether I'll be back!
My friends and I stopped in for happy hour and thought it was a great way to try this upscale restaurant without paying full dinner prices. I ordered the cheeseburger, and it was absolutely worth it at the happy hour price point. My friend got the wings and said they were some of the best she's ever had! One thing to note is that the food doesn't come with sides, so we ordered the fries trio to share between the table. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere inside was super cute and inviting. We had originally hoped to sit on the patio, but happy hour is bar seating only. It is definitely on the pricier side- paying $2-$3 for a side of ranch felt a little excessive, but that can be expected at a more upscale spot. Overall, I'd come back again, especially for a girls' lunch, happy hour, or date night to try more on the menu. I was also intrigued by their brunch menu!
Made it here for Fat Pants and I'm so glad that I did!! And, I hate wasting food so it will be hard for me to go back. We had an incredible carne asada quesadilla that was HUGE!! The steak was cooked really well and the quesadilla was very delicious minus the onions. I picked those out because it was too much for me. Can't beat the price at $15 and when they run out they run out so get there early. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. Beautiful space on the water!
6Smith is exceptional with their cocktails and beverage options! The smokey old fashioned is worth it! Been here a couple times for Fat Pants Friday -- love the surprise and know it will be a one-meal-a-day meal! The highlight of dinner was the watermelon salad with salmon -- that was exceptional! The lobster pasta tasted great but wished the portion was a little larger! Two points that were disappointing for me were due to the steak tartar and the chicken wings. The tartar was WAY too salty and sour. I love pickles but this was overkill. At first glance, you know there's pickles in it with the fan of them. However, there were so many pickles diced in the tartar mixture, along with capers, that ultimately was unpleasant after a few bites. The chicken wings were cooked well and loved the spice mixture seasoning. Again, the saltiness was overpowering and unpleasant. On my second wing, the saltiness was so strong I wish I had scraped off the seasoning or saved some baguette to dilute the salt. Service is exceptional every time I have been here. Wait staff, greeters, bartenders. Everyone is pleasant and welcoming. 6Smith is absolutely beautiful inside and out! The inside bar is beautiful and the outdoor seating is gorgeous. Would I come back? Yes. Definitely for drinks and maybe share some appetizers with friends on the lake.
It took me too long to check this place out, but receiving a gift card for helping a friend gave me the push I needed. The ambiance is nice and modern, but some of the artwork is a bit strange. The food and service were great! Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the whole menu and gave great recommendations, along with a lot of detail about various menu items. Being on the younger end of the age spectrum I've often felt overlooked or that I've received worse service at higher end restaurants due to my age, but that certainly wasn't the case here! I'm excited to visit again soon and try out some of their really compelling happy hour deals!
Finally was able to make it for a FAT PANTS FRIDAY. They always have a lunch special on Fridays that is $15 and HUGE! Mine was a burger with 4 patties, bacon, an OMELET, and smothered in chorizo cheese sauce!! It was amazing and the service was too!
We've been to 6Smith multiple times and it never disappoints. The ambience is incredible, set right on the lake with a warm and lively atmosphere that feels elevated without being stuffy. The service is always great. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and genuinely on top of things. The wine list is a standout and pairs beautifully with almost every dish. The steaks are consistently excellent, cooked exactly right and full of flavor. For starters, the meatballs are tender and deeply savory, and the bourbon and bacon comes in thick-cut slices with bold, delicious flavor. The Brussels sprouts are crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. "Bread is Life" is another fun starter. The baguette has a thick, crunchy crust that can be a little tough to cut, but the flavor makes it worth the effort. If you want seafood, the salmon is a sleeper hit. The corn and potato combination on the plate works surprisingly well. Their salads are huge and beautifully done. Make sure you save room for dessert. The portions are massive and indulgent. Great food, amazing wine, friendly service, and a lakefront setting you simply cannot beat.
My girlfriend and I came to 6Smith to celebrate a special occasion and from the moment we were seated, we knew it was going to be a great night. Our table was decorated with confetti and even had a personalized card, a small touch, but one that instantly made us feel special. Before I even get to the food, I have to shout out our server, Victoria H. She went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. Seriously, if her manager sees this, give her a raise! It was hands-down some of the best service I've ever had anywhere. Now onto the food; we started with oysters that were meaty, crisp, and full of flavor (which is impressive considering we're in a landlocked state). For dinner, we went with their Restaurant Week menu: I had the tuna tartare, short rib, and Oreo cheesecake. I was a little nervous about the tuna tartare since it was my first time trying it, but it was absolutely delicious. The short rib was melt-off-the-bone perfection, and the Oreo cheesecake was the cherry on top (I could've easily gone for a second slice). To make the night even more special, Victoria surprised us with a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate our occasion. Between the amazing service, incredible food, and thoughtful details, 6Smith gave us a night we won't forget. Can't wait to come back for more!
We love it here. But the kitchen is slipping. Ordered a dozen oysters and got the world's most sad lemon. :( waitstaff fixed it. Overall we keep coming because everyone here really rocks!
The cutest spot on the lake! I went here for my monthly dinner club and we got the bread is life as an appetizer and I HIGHLY recommend! We split the lobster roll, burger, and watermelon salmon salad with the lobster mac as a shared side. The lobster roll was delicious and the burger was the best thing we ordered! The salad was good but not for the price. Our server recommended dessert and we were blown away at how big this ice cream was!! Server was very kind and the view on the patio was perfect.

So every time we are In Minnesota, we come to this restaurant. The view & ambiance was relaxing. The food was very tasty. Our server was Erica. She was excellent & gave us some delicious recommendations. Always get the desert. read more
Saw the Friday Fat Pants Special for $12 and could not resist! Front of house was not very engaging and seemed preoccupied in every interaction we had. Waitress was very nice and did a great job making me feel welcome. The Fat Pants Special is a LOT of food- which is one of the main reasons I came, but it lacked a LOT of flavor. Largely falling back on the premise that more is better, I was excited about the burger, but the burger missed the mark. 6Smith is located at a beautiful location and the inside was very clean. Hope to come back again and give them another chance. read more
Came back here for dinner and was a bit disappointed. I thought the brunch menu was better than the dinner one. The char grilled fresh corn elote style made me believe that it was going to be an actual char grilled corn when in fact this was a creamed corn dip. Very misleading. Chicken wings look like chicken nuggets, fried not grilled. I felt like I was eating my kid's food. The Branzino fish was good but nothing amazing. The only dish I was impressed with was the steak tartare. Very nice flavors, better than the one at 112 eatery. Not coming back for dinner but definitely for brunch. read more

I'll start by saying I've been to 6smith probably 10 times now in the 4 years I've lived in MN and it is by far my favorite restaurant. They have perfected the steak down to a science but I finally decided to review them for restaurant week fall 2025. I started off with the steak tartare which is excellent. If you are afraid of raw meat don't be. I was skeptical myself but it is seasoned very well and doesn't taste like you are eating raw meat. Love the garlic crostini it comes with too 10/10. Entree was the braised ribs in a romesco sauce. At first I wasn't sure about it because typically that sauce is served with pasta but it was really nice. 10/10. Got a side of Mac &cheese (not on the restaurant menu) always amazing. In fact one of the best if not thee best Mac and cheeses in Twin Cities. Dessert was chocolate cake. 9/10. I wish the Khalua flavor came through more and that the cake was more moist. Maybe it's because it had been chilled for an extended period of time not sure. Still tasted good ! Service was excellent and it was a full house but they didn't skip a beat in superior service. Water glasses stayed full and we always got fresh silverware and napkins between courses. read more

We had a girls night in Wayzata and opted for dinner on the patio at 6Smith. With a view of Wayzata Bay, we had a delicious dinner and experience! 6Smith and Baldamar have the same owners, which explains their similar menu and equally similar stellar quality and experience. We started with Bread is Life, where a perfectly toasted loaf of bread comes with three dips: whipped butter, chimichurri and ricotta + honey. All three were incredible, and our server recommended combining the butter with chimichurri. No regrets! We also had the tuna poké, so fresh and flavorful with the lightest wonton strips. Dinner entrees we shared family style because we had a hard time choosing! We had the jumbo scallops, marinated flank steak and sea bass. 6Smith does meat and fish so well so we had to try some of each! Everything was tasty, all three had different vibes. The sea scallops came with potato gnocchi and roasted tomatoes and were perfectly seared. The marinated flank steak was a heavier dish, with fried potato strings and horseradish sauce, all atop a potato purée. And the sea bass, with an Asian flair, was flaky and flavorful, not not dry but not too moist (which is usually why I steer clear of sea bass). This is the perfect spot for a date night, happy hour or just a fun dinner with friends! Also, don't skip dessert (which we did and fully regretted)! Tables around us got the mud pie, the key lime and the chocolate cake and each one looked epically amazing! read more
One of our favorite dinners we've have in the MSP area! Went down to Wayzata for dinner looking for a fun restaurant on the water and had heard great things about 6Smith. Large outdoor patio and indoor area overlooking the lake. All our food was so flavorful and fresh. We started out with the elote (waitress suggested adding chips which was perfect) and chicken wings. Elote was so fresh and chicken wings had the perfect level of spice and crispiness. We got the curried shrimp and jumbo scallops for entrees. the curry was so creamy with the perfect level of spiciness that pair well with the coconut curry. The scallops melted in your mouth. Highly recommend this for a fun dinner or a place to celebrate a milestone! read more
My significant other and I took advantage of MSP restaurant week and visited 6smith. It's a spot that we've often considered but never visited so this seemed like a great opportunity! Upon arriving we were seated a few minutes ahead of our reservation. Our waiter took time to walk us through multiple drink options and provided a few recommendations as well as highlight the restaurant week menu. I ordered a recommended wine and my partner chose the tequila old fashioned which was delicious! We opted for different items so had the chance to try steak tartare (yum!), wings (perfectly seasoned and cooked), short rib (not my favorite), filet and Brussels sprouts ( perfectly cooked and delicious!) and a mocha cake ( a favorite!) and chocolate cake. Service was perfectly timed throughout and the space was very nice. I think we might have to make a follow up trip in warmer weather to take advantage of the patio and Lake Minnetonka setting. Prices are a little on the higher end, which makes restaurant week such a great reason to try, but a great for a celebratory evening out! read more
I was very impressed with the look and service of this establishment as soon as we walked in the front door. Check out the photos, some really cool artwork. We came here during Restaurant Week, so the chef had a 3 course meal for a very reasonable price. The hosts/servers were on their A Game and we found out they were affiliated with Baldamar and that is another one of our favs in Roseville. So, you know it's good all around. I had the Halibut and the fish was cooked great, however I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce they used on it. I'm still trying a lot of things and most other people have a wider palate than mine, so don't base it on my taste alone... The wings came with a dry rub and was super juicy and the desert was chocolate raspberry cake, which was ok. read more

Phenomenal experience and mouth watering food. The service from Aerianna was amazing and personable. We got the salmon 10/10. It was savory and very tasty! We also got the calamari 10/10. It was bursting with flavors and a delightful delicacy. We had a reservation and I recommend making one if you don't want to wait. read more

Attended a surprised 40th BD party at their private room which was beautifully decorated. They had an array of really delicious seafood ready for us and later brought Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, and Meatballs. I enjoyed all of the appetizers but would say the meatballs and Brussels Sprouts were a hit with everyone. For dinner I had the scallops which were good but super rich! My friend had the Miso Marinated Seabass and I wish I had ordered that instead. Absolutely delicious, full of flavor and simply perfection. From their cocktails, I would recommend the Water Lily, and the Lemon Drop. Service was really good too, so it is a 5 stars for me! read more

We took advantage of restaurant week and booked a table for two on a Wednesday evening. We were first timers here but heard good things. It's an upscale bar feel with a gorgeous view of the lake. The patio would be beautiful during the warm season! They had some decorative, but weird pictures of people on the walls with cheesy sayings. I felt that they belonged in a mall then a restaurant. It threw me off a little. They have a great menu, food and drinks both. For restaurant week, they had some really great deals. If you don't know what restaurant week is, Google it! For $35 you get a choice of select appetizer, entree and dessert. Their prices are definitely three dollar signs so taking advantage of that deal was a steal. Their clam chowder was good, nothing memorable. We enjoyed the bourbon and bacon for an app though. Their steak was delicious, tender, and cooked perfectly to order. You can even "add some bling" onto your steaks, a unique twist I haven't seen before. The salmon was dished well on top of a potato purée and red pepper succotash. The service was wonderful and we appreciated our server. We were never rushed and each round came out once we were finishing up the last. Overall, a nice date night. read more

This is my favorite place to eat by the lake in the summer in Wayzata. They have great seafood dishes and a variety to choose from. Our favorites last night were the calamari appetizer, salmon and beet salad, shrimp curry entree and crab/lobster cake special. We also got a tasty complimentary chocolate cake and caramel dessert since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Make your reservations far in advance if you want outdoor seating. The views of Lake Minnetonka are nice and you can take a stroll in the area after dinner. read more

Another outstanding experience at 6Smith, this time for an anniversary. The bourbon bacon is never skipped to start and the meatballs were an added bonus this time. The pork shank cascaded off the bone effortlessly and the curry shrimp dish was amazing. Service crisp as always, bar staff friendly and helpful. This place is the gold standard in Wayzata. read more

Woweeee. Best brunch I've had in awhile! I was drawn here for the Bottomless mimosas but then ended up getting the water Lily and falling in looooooooooove. So good!!! Apps: -oysters. Good. -steak tartar. We should not have ordered this at all. It's brunch after all; only 1 app is necessary. Main: -avocado toast. Omg this was so good! The bread was buttery. I loved it all! I've been here a handful of times for dinner in the dining room. This past weekend was my first experience on the patio for brunch. I've had lovely service each time. The staff has always been friendly even during Restaurant Week when I'm sure they are stressed and maybe not always tipped as well. The only downside of brunch v dinner was that parking during a lovely sunny day was much harder. I waited for over 10 minutes for a spot and the friends I met there had to park in the street and walk over. The patio was lovely with lots of beautiful tropical plants and huge umbrellas so you don't burn up in the sun. The tables are well spaced for covid which makes the ambiance even more enjoyable... like you're in a little private oasis. Drinks came out quickly. I had the Bloody Mary which was decent, and came with sizable beer-back. We shared the bread appetizer which came with butter, ricotta and honey, and chimichurri for dipping. This was really hard to share without everyone touching the bread. The ham Benedict was delicious. I thought I was going to miss the English muffin but the bread it was on definitely was better than a crusty muffin. The toast was crisp and buttery on the outside but still fluffy and delicious on the inside. This made it very conducive to soaking up the runny egg yolk. The ham was also realll good. Thinly sliced and juicy fresh ham, yum. The French toast looked amazing I would have begged for bites from my friend if it weren't for the pandemic. This was the first meal I've eaten out since Covid and it was a very comfortable start. I'll for sure be back for brunch and to try that French toast. read more

Slightly more expensive type of restaurant than I typically go to but I could taste the quality. I got the Seasonal Vegetable Salmon Salad and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a light and refreshing entree! The salmon was juicy and perfectly cooked and the vegetables tasted very fresh. My only critique is that it was hard to distinguish what was in the pink dressing as it didn't have a prominent flavor (I am assuming it is supposed to be the raspberry vinaigrette?) The restaurant is also in a very nice area next to a scenic walkway by the lake. My party had a relaxing time waking off our meal by the water, watching the sun set. read more

Firm believer that 6Smith has one of the best Rib Eye's in Minnesota (yup, I said it, even better than Manny's) and for the non-just-meat-for-dinner goers the chili rubbed chicken sandwhich is delicious and filling + comes with a side of fries and aoli! 6Smith never disappoints! read more

We seriously enjoyed this restaurant, the steaks were cooked perfectly, great vibe and location on the water. I enjoyed the shrimp curry dish and the bacon and bourbon appetizer. Kind of pricy. Including one drink per person we were about $100 per person before tip. read more

Decent place on the lakefront with a pretty deck. If you get an outdoor table in good weather, take it. Food is decent with a variety of multi cuisine options, but for the price it's not impressive. Miso cod and coconut shrimp curry were very good. Burrata was not burrata at all and tacos are terrible. Chocolate mousse cake is good. Presentation is aesthetic. Service is indifferent and/or inefficient. It's seriously annoying when you come in with a reservation, ask to be seated at a nice table currently unoccupied and be brushed off immediately with "oh it's reserved". And then, when you escalate the issue, lo and behold, of course it becomes available. At these prices, the least the hostess can do is be not-so-lazy about these simple requests. It's supposed to be one of these slick places and it was crowded on a summer night, but I'm not a fan. read more
The setting is one of the prettiest in the country: Wayzata Bay on Lake Minnetonka. The patio, even in the Age of Covid, is pleasant and welcoming: Quiet, except for the water lapping at the boats docked a few yards away, tables spaced apart appropriately, planters loaded with an array of blooming flowers, and the soft buzz of quiet lunchtime conversation. The menu looked interesting, with a variety of meat, fish, and salad items. We ordered, expecting reasonable, perhaps generous portions, given the price points. Then the food came. What was presented to one of our party is best summed up by the image attached to this review. Suffice to say that I believe in the adage that "less is more." If you agree, 6Smith is not the place for you. As for us, we will not be returning anytime soon. read more

We're pretty disappointed with the service. It was unusually hot outside that day, so we requested to relocate to the inside, but management (according to our server, Kevin) refused our request stating that our food had arrived. I can understand if this was a low-end restaurant, if it was busy, or if we already had appetizers and drinks. But it definitely wasn't a low end according to other reviews. It wasn't busy because we were there at 2 PM, and there wasn't much to move. Very poor customer service. read more

Came on Sunday around 2pm without a reservation. No wait and we got a nice spot outside. Great service. Food was also excellent. Had the steak tartare, ribs and the salmon. The desert was for a family of 8 ... seriously. Way to much but excellent. read more

I came here at the recommendation of friends and based on the Yelp reviews, I was expecting this place to wow me. But alas, it left me wanting for a lot more. The restaurant does not live up to the all of the hype, AT ALL. I met 3 friends at 6Smith for my pre-birthday celebration on a Monday night after making reservations. The place was completely packed so you definitely have to make reservations online before coming in. We started with a bunch of drinks and a handful of appetizers. We got the 6Smith Chicken Wings (which had a house blend dry rub), the Char Grilled Fresh Sweet Corn (elote style with a side of chips), Roasted Cauliflower (with spice, red pepper aioli, parmesan), and the Triple Dip French Fries (which came with béarnaise, truffle aioli, curry ketchup). All of the apps were really good, my favorites were the chicken wings (the dry rub was amazing and had a little kick to it) and the char grilled corn (it was more of a dip but very tasty). We were off to a promising start and were excited to try our entrees, which is when everything went horribly wrong. Out of 4 meals, only one us actually liked what we ordered. We got the Miso Marinated Seabass (came with asparagus and mixed greens, yuzu dressing), the Chilled Lobster Roll (came with a brioche bun, celery, tarragon aioli, shredded lettuce), the Fat Burger (bacon and onion jam, sharp cheddar fondue, bacon, American cheese, LTO, brown butter brioche bun), and the Hanger Steak Chimichurri (which came with a side of grilled tomato & scallion, toasted baguette). The only thing they got right was the burger lol. Everything else was terrible or disappointing. To start, the lobster was not fresh and my friend noticed it immediately and stopped eating his meal for fear he would become violently ill the next day (will update my review if he gets food poisoning tomorrow). The seabass was just OK, nothing special, good presentation but over a bed of messily chopped veggies (for the price and reputation of the restaurant, I would expect more precision). The hanger steak (ordered medium) was completely over cooked and was so chewy and felt more like a roast beef, the baguette was burnt beyond belief, and the chimichurri sauce was brown instead of green or red. Seriously disappointing food and for the price, it's an absolute travesty. The waiter was kind enough to take the rotten lobster roll off our check, but overall the entrees were terrible. The hanger steak looked nothing like the other photos on Yelp and for being a seafood and steak house, they totally missed the mark. Because it was my birthday they gave me $15 off my next visit but honestly, I won't be back. If you come here, stick with the appetizers and drinks. The meals are way overpriced and anywhere between underwhelming and downright disgusting. read more
