Service (4/5): I dropped the ball and forgot to make a reservation, but thankfully it was a Sunday night and we were able to get seated right away. Our server was personable but seemed too busy to remember the little things--like no ice, no raw onions on one plate and no steak knife with the ribeye! Food/Menu (4/5): It's nice that they have a vegan menu, but there aren't very many options! I'd like to see them challenge themselves a bit and offer more than salads, taco and grains. That said, there was a flood in the bar area (where we were seated in a booth) during our dinner. Everyone was good natured about it and no big deal. One of our favorite dinners we've have in the MSP area! Went down to Wayzata for dinner looking for a fun restaurant on the water and had heard great things about 6Smith. Large outdoor patio and indoor area overlooking the lake. All our food was so flavorful and fresh. We started out with the elote (waitress suggested adding chips which was perfect) and chicken wings. Elote was so fresh and chicken wings had the perfect level of spice and crispiness. We got the curried shrimp and jumbo scallops for entrees. the curry was so creamy with the perfect level of spiciness that pair well with the coconut curry. The scallops melted in your mouth. Saw the Friday Fat Pants Special for $12 and could not resist! Front of house was not very engaging and seemed preoccupied in every interaction we had. Waitress was very nice and did a great job making me feel welcome. The Fat Pants Special is a LOT of food- which is one of the main reasons I came, but it lacked a LOT of flavor. The char grilled fresh corn elote style made me believe that it was going to be an actual char grilled corn when in fact this was a creamed corn dip. Very misleading. With a view of Wayzata Bay, we had a delicious dinner and experience! 6Smith and Baldamar have the same owners, which explains their similar menu and equally similar stellar quality and experience. We started with Bread is Life, where a perfectly toasted loaf of bread comes with three dips: whipped butter, chimichurri and ricotta + honey. All three were incredible, and our server recommended combining the butter with chimichurri. No regrets! We also had the tuna poké, so fresh and flavorful with the lightest wonton strips. Dinner entrees we shared family style because we had a hard time choosing! We had the jumbo scallops, marinated flank steak and sea bass. 6Smith does meat and fish so well so we had to try some of each! Everything was tasty, all three had different vibes. The sea scallops came with potato gnocchi and roasted tomatoes and were perfectly seared. The marinated flank steak was a heavier dish, with fried potato strings and horseradish sauce, all atop a potato purée. And the sea bass, with an Asian flair, was flaky and flavorful, not not dry but not too moist (which is usually why I steer clear of sea bass). This is the perfect spot for a date night, happy hour or just a fun dinner with friends! Also, don't skip dessert (which we did and fully regretted)! My significant other and I took advantage of MSP restaurant week and visited 6smith. It's a spot that we've often considered but never visited so this seemed like a great opportunity! Upon arriving we were seated a few minutes ahead of our reservation. Our waiter took time to walk us through multiple drink options and provided a few recommendations as well as highlight the restaurant week menu. I ordered a recommended wine and my partner chose the tequila old fashioned which was delicious! We opted for different items so had the chance to try steak tartare (yum!), wings (perfectly seasoned and cooked), short rib (not my favorite), filet and Brussels sprouts ( perfectly cooked and delicious!) and a mocha cake ( a favorite!) and chocolate cake. Service was perfectly timed throughout and the space was very nice. I think we might have to make a follow up trip in warmer weather to take advantage of the patio and Lake Minnetonka setting. I was very impressed with the look and service of this establishment as soon as we walked in the front door. Check out the photos, some really cool artwork. We came here during Restaurant Week, so the chef had a 3 course meal for a very reasonable price. The hosts/servers were on their A Game and we found out they were affiliated with Baldamar and that is another one of our favs in Roseville. So, you know it's good all around. I had the Halibut and the fish was cooked great, however I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce they used on it. I'm still trying a lot of things and most other people have a wider palate than mine, so don't base it on my taste alone... Attended a surprised 40th BD party at their private room which was beautifully decorated. They had an array of really delicious seafood ready for us and later brought Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, and Meatballs. I enjoyed all of the appetizers but would say the meatballs and Brussels Sprouts were a hit with everyone. For dinner I had the scallops which were good but super rich! My friend had the Miso Marinated Seabass and I wish I had ordered that instead. Absolutely delicious, full of flavor and simply perfection. We took advantage of restaurant week and booked a table for two on a Wednesday evening. We were first timers here but heard good things. It's an upscale bar feel with a gorgeous view of the lake. The patio would be beautiful during the warm season! They had some decorative, but weird pictures of people on the walls with cheesy sayings. I felt that they belonged in a mall then a restaurant. It threw me off a little. They have a great menu, food and drinks both. For restaurant week, they had some really great deals. If you don't know what restaurant week is, Google it! For $35 you get a choice of select appetizer, entree and dessert. Their prices are definitely three dollar signs so taking advantage of that deal was a steal. Their clam chowder was good, nothing memorable. We enjoyed the bourbon and bacon for an app though. Their steak was delicious, tender, and cooked perfectly to order. You can even "add some bling" onto your steaks, a unique twist I haven't seen before. The salmon was dished well on top of a potato purée and red pepper succotash. I've been here a handful of times for dinner in the dining room. This past weekend was my first experience on the patio for brunch. I've had lovely service each time. The staff has always been friendly even during Restaurant Week when I'm sure they are stressed and maybe not always tipped as well. The only downside of brunch v dinner was that parking during a lovely sunny day was much harder. I waited for over 10 minutes for a spot and the friends I met there had to park in the street and walk over. The patio was lovely with lots of beautiful tropical plants and huge umbrellas so you don't burn up in the sun. The tables are well spaced for covid which makes the ambiance even more enjoyable... like you're in a little private oasis. Drinks came out quickly. I had the Bloody Mary which was decent, and came with sizable beer-back. We shared the bread appetizer which came with butter, ricotta and honey, and chimichurri for dipping. This was really hard to share without everyone touching the bread. The ham Benedict was delicious. I thought I was going to miss the English muffin but the bread it was on definitely was better than a crusty muffin. The toast was crisp and buttery on the outside but still fluffy and delicious on the inside. This made it very conducive to soaking up the runny egg yolk. The ham was also realll good. Thinly sliced and juicy fresh ham, yum. The French toast looked amazing I would have begged for bites from my friend if it weren't for the pandemic. I got the Seasonal Vegetable Salmon Salad and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a light and refreshing entree! The salmon was juicy and perfectly cooked and the vegetables tasted very fresh. My only critique is that it was hard to distinguish what was in the pink dressing as it didn't have a prominent flavor (I am assuming it is supposed to be the raspberry vinaigrette?) Service is indifferent and/or inefficient. It's seriously annoying when you come in with a reservation, ask to be seated at a nice table currently unoccupied and be brushed off immediately with "oh it's reserved". And then, when you escalate the issue, lo and behold, of course it becomes available. At these prices, the least the hostess can do is be not-so-lazy about these simple requests. It was unusually hot outside that day, so we requested to relocate to the inside, but management (according to our server, Kevin) refused our request stating that our food had arrived. Let me first say, the ambiance here is perfect. It's boujee, it's clean, it's inviting but exclusive feeling. We went for brunch and the restaurant was already decorated for Christmas. There were giant wreaths and greenery decorating the restaurant and it was beautiful. The vibe here is 10/10. I had only been here once before back in 2019 when they still offered a buffet brunch. However, they're no longer doing this so we ordered off the menu. My boyfriend ordered the wings and the venison juicy lucy. Both of his meals were delicious. The burger was bursting with flavor and the wings were nice and juicy. I ordered the half steak which unfortunately was terrible. It was completely dry and tough which was disappointing at $25 for a 2-3 ounce piece of meat. The bottomless mimosas are a steal, though at $14. I highly recommend getting these. I came here at the recommendation of friends and based on the Yelp reviews, I was expecting this place to wow me. But alas, it left me wanting for a lot more. The restaurant does not live up to the all of the hype, AT ALL. I met 3 friends at 6Smith for my pre-birthday celebration on a Monday night after making reservations. The place was completely packed so you definitely have to make reservations online before coming in. We started with a bunch of drinks and a handful of appetizers. We got the 6Smith Chicken Wings (which had a house blend dry rub), the Char Grilled Fresh Sweet Corn (elote style with a side of chips), Roasted Cauliflower (with spice, red pepper aioli, parmesan), and the Triple Dip French Fries (which came with béarnaise, truffle aioli, curry ketchup). All of the apps were really good, my favorites were the chicken wings (the dry rub was amazing and had a little kick to it) and the char grilled corn (it was more of a dip but very tasty). We were off to a promising start and were excited to try our entrees, which is when everything went horribly wrong. Out of 4 meals, only one us actually liked what we ordered. We got the Miso Marinated Seabass (came with asparagus and mixed greens, yuzu dressing), the Chilled Lobster Roll (came with a brioche bun, celery, tarragon aioli, shredded lettuce), the Fat Burger (bacon and onion jam, sharp cheddar fondue, bacon, American cheese, LTO, brown butter brioche bun), and the Hanger Steak Chimichurri (which came with a side of grilled tomato & scallion, toasted baguette). The only thing they got right was the burger lol. Everything else was terrible or disappointing. To start, the lobster was not fresh and my friend noticed it immediately and stopped eating his meal for fear he would become violently ill the next day (will update my review if he gets food poisoning tomorrow). The seabass was just OK, nothing special, good presentation but over a bed of messily chopped veggies (for the price and reputation of the restaurant, I would expect more precision). The hanger steak (ordered medium) was completely over cooked and was so chewy and felt more like a roast beef, the baguette was burnt beyond belief, and the chimichurri sauce was brown instead of green or red. Seriously disappointing food and for the price, it's an absolute travesty. The waiter was kind enough to take the rotten lobster roll off our check, but overall the entrees were terrible. The hanger steak looked nothing like the other photos on Yelp and for being a seafood and steak house, they totally missed the mark. Because it was my birthday they gave me $15 off my next visit but honestly, I won't be back. If you come here, stick with the appetizers and drinks. Try to make a reservation if you can snag one but if you're walking in and get waitlisted, cozy up to the bar for a glass of sparkling rosé and enjoy the lake views. Here's the skinny on the menu - do not sleep on the salads. I've now had the seasonal vegetable salad (watermelon beet combo) and la flaquita many many times. The beet watermelon salad is a lite option but is so delicious. La flaquita can easily be shared between two people but have fun fighting over the smoked chipotle goddess of a dressing. It's packs a flavorful punch!!! Other notable options include the fish sandwich and chicken sandwich. The fries and coleslaw sides are super popular in our family as well. There are a lot of great spots in downtown Wayzata but this one shouldn't be missed.
