I then asked his coworker who was polite. While waiting for my drinks I asked the older bartender if I had done anything to offend him to which he responded, "No, stupid questions get stupid answers". Not too long after, he was very obviously pointing at me and talking to the other bartender so I asked why and he said that we had to leave after we finish our drinks with reason why just that we had to leave. I asked why and also asked if he was being racist. He gleefully responded yes. After we left he chased us away from the front of the bar, screaming slurs no one should have to hear. This should tell you all you need to know.

One of the prices that came to mind was Redbreast 12 for $20 for a pour. I settled on Bitburger which was $10. Service was quick. You're certainly paying for the location as the bar situated amongst many clubs and events spaces.

It ended up being a nice spot for a casual catch-up, though with a few mixed impressions. The space itself is cute and very much feels like a neighborhood bar. One of the things we liked most was that they have games available--we ended up playing Scrabble while waiting for our friend to arrive, which made the time go by quickly and added to the relaxed vibe. Happy hour prices are solid, and the fried pickles we shared were decent. I also had a watermelon cocktail that was refreshing and perfectly fine, if not particularly memorable. Service was a bit inconsistent. The bartender wasn't very warm or welcoming to us initially, though that changed once our friend--who is a regular--arrived. Overall, it's a comfortable spot to meet friends and hang out for a few hours, especially on a weekday like Thursday. That said, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I can see why it works well as a local neighborhood hang.

Not too crowded, the wait for a pool table was about 30 minutes, enough for a quick round of shuffleboarding. The games are relatively cheap, and there's so much variety, ping pong and board games. The live jazz is really what sets this place apart from the other pool halls, starting around 7 pm with what seems like maybe the house band and I think they have guests later in the night. It's the perfect atmosphere, fun lighting, lots of grungy writing on the walls, good indie music from the 2010s before the jazz starts. Plus the spacing of the tables is good so you're not constantly bumping into other players, which is a pet peeve of mine. I'm sure it's busier later in the night but it's perfect for an early stop in the evening. Cheap drinks and good deals as well!

It's actually a legacy spot in disguise. This basement used to house Fat Cat, a longtime West Village institution that shut down right before the pandemic, and before that the room itself was a bowling alley, tucked into a 1932 Art Deco building a few steps from Stonewall. Drink selection isn't the draw here, don't come expecting a deep cocktail list. Crowd skews heavily undergrad, and the place is loud, so it's not the spot for an intimate one-on-one or a real group conversation. It's built for a different kind of hang: elbow your way to a table, keep your hands busy, let the noise do the rest. There's also live jazz most nights, which adds a nice layer if you catch it at the right time. Neat place, just know what you're walking into.

After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. As for food, there were some true hits but most of the food was good but basic. The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. The wait staff weren't super attentive nor super warm, but they were efficient when we asked for water refills, etc. There was ample standing room at the bar while we waited for our friends, but the table/booth that we sat at was super narrow, I was knocking knees with my friend all night and generally felt squished.

I'm dying to go back and have it again... the fois gras on the other hand, I'm definitely going back for. The very next day, I went to Peter Luger, and Peter Luger Burger is superior. If you don't don't believe me do a bang bang in the same day and if you can't handle that, go the next day to Peter Luger. That burger will blow your mind away. Of course, the service there and their old school way of doing things where they bring out a medium rare steak still cooking on a boiling hot plate till it's medium by the time you eat half of it is what's keeping them from being busy. They should've abandoned that sizzling plate. In any event, I digress the burger. Here is just like the burger at red Hook Tavern, does not live up to the hype as being one of the if not "the best burger in the world. Again, the burger was good. The fois gras stole the show. The place is cool, it's small reservations are tough The Burger is limited so walk-ins are a gamble. And the fact that the bar doesn't open before four so that when you get there early, you can sit and have a drink. I find to be just plain silly. Drinks were good.
