Bacon Jam Benedict
Jordan C.

Came here for the first time with my family this past Saturday for brunch! 622 North has a great reputation in Blacksburg. I've been meaning to try it, but just never got around to it. We are there for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The interior of the restaurant gives a homie feel to it. It is very cozy and welcoming. The service is great, efficient, helpful, and super friendly. Our server did an excellent job filling out waters and coffees, as well as answering our questions about the menu. Their brunch menu is extensive and offers a great variety of entrees. And I cannot go without mentioning the price! Considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices were amazing! I had a hard time choosing my entree, everything looked so good! But I ended up ordering the Carbonara scrambled eggs. While my mom ordered the Bacon Jam Eggs Benedict, my dad ordered the Potato Bowl, my sister got the Chicken & Waffles, and my grandmother ordered the regular eggs Benedict. We ended up splitting their special cinnamon churro sweet bread as well. The sweet bread was smaller than expected, but nonetheless was still very yummy. It was a very moist, Bundt styled bread reminiscent of monkey bread. My carbonara scramble included two eggs scrambled with pecorino, pancetta, black pepper, and spinach. topped with hollandaise crispy garlic, and crispy prosciutto. with mini hash browns & toast/bread. This was a wonderful meal bursting with so much flavor. The hollandaise was light and the saltiness of the prosciutto and pancetta complimented it very well. Really, really enjoyed this dish and it was like nothing I've had before. The rosemary home fries that came with it very superb as well. Not greasy, but perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of salt and rosemary. I also opted for a biscuit as my bread of choice. It was flaky, buttery, and yummy! The rest of the table enjoyed their dishes too. Noting on how impressed they were with the flavors and balance of the dishes. Overall, I was more than impressed with 622 North. They serve the best brunch in Blacksburg in my opinion. The menu has something for everyone ranging from traditional brunch dishes to more unique ones. The service was perfect. Our server did a good job checking in on us and attending to us. He was also more than helpful in answering questions we had regarding the menu. The food is really tasty and you can tell they use higher quality ingredients. I thought the portions were nice as well, especially considering the price range. No one had a single complaint about their food and we all left more than satisfied! I will definitely be returning for brunch and I'll have to check it out for dinner as well!! Would 100% recommend for a nice brunch in Blacksburg.

Amazing meal in a cozy atmosphere with lots of fun menu items to choose between. The service was great and the food was delicious! Highly recommend! Especially the beef dishes and the Mule. Yum!

Fairly good experience here! Came on a Saturday for lunch, and it was very quiet. Service was friendly and prompt. As for the food, it was good too! I went with the Turkey BLT which I had no complaints about. I can't really attest to how the place is at dinner, but I imagine that it could get quite busy. Didn't order any alcohol, so I don't really have much to add there. Solid spot, and I'd come back to try the dinner.

I had the spicy chicken sandwich which was pretty good, I'd also recommend the bruschetta, fig and bacon bites, and spinach and artichoke dip. we had a big party and our server was super organized and patient with everyone. There are several different seating areas which is nice for privacy. Kind of a cozy / Homey vibe.

I had a really nice time at 622. The ambiance was relaxing and serene. The restaurant was a converted home, with unique classy decor with paintings, pottery, and blown glass decorating the walls. Our server was extremely nice and had a thorough knowledge of the menu. She asked follow up questions during the order process which was much appreciated. Food and drinks were good, with the potential to be great. It should be noted that waters emptied with no refills, and drinks took a little while. I really enjoyed my steak salad, it included fresh ingredients that tasted of quality. The flavors were somewhat muted, I would have liked a little more pop of flavor. Our appetizer was my favorite part, we ordered the bacon jam crostini. No explanation just delicious! As a Richmond native I also wanted to add that I was impressed by the prices of their beer and cocktails. I ordered a 5.50 beer that normally costs 8 in Richmond. While I wasn't blown away I enjoyed my time at 622 and if I find myself in the area again I would consider stopping by.

This place has been the standard in excellence for years. I super enjoy coming here for food and drink. The staff is awesome and very accommodating. Next time you're in Blacksburg go there, you'll thank me later!

Food + atmosphere = 4 stars. The hostesses standing around idle and not engaging with customers as you come and go = 1 star lost. Food was sooooo good and fresh.

Not Your Mama's Pasta started out at the Blacksburg Farmers Market and ended up opening a brick and mortar store due to their popularity. They offer Roman styled pizzas and handmade pastas. The eatery is located in downtown Blacksburg and parking could be tricky. The size of the restaurant is also not super large, so keep that in mind. I do appreciate the ambiance of the interior though. The service is always quick and very friendly as well! Their Roman styled pizzas are decent, but the pasta is definitely the star of the show here! Roman pizza uses fermented dough, making the texture more like a focaccia. However, it isn't the same as a Sicilian styled pizza. The pizza isn't the best Roman pizza I've had, but it ins't bad at all. Now the pasta is the real star of the show here! All of their pasta is handmade with local ingredients and ingredients imported from Italy. The quality of the ingredients really enhances the flavors of their dishes. The pasta is quite rich, the noodles are cooked al dante, and the sauces burst with flavors. I have ordered several pasta dishes including the Cacio e Pepe, Pistachio Cacio e Pepe, and the Carbonara. All three were absolutely amazing! The Cacio e Pepe includes pecorino and black pepper, with a luscious, creamy sauce. The Pistachio Cacio e Pepe includes pecorino, black pepper, and pistachios that are blended into the sauce. This too is a very good dish, full of great flavor. The Carbonara was my favorite with bacon, egg yolk, pecorino, and black pepper. This dish was rich and heavier, but in the best way. There were ample amounts of bacon, balanced out with the egg yolk and tangy cheese. I would recommend any of their pasta dishes any day of the week! Overall, Not Your Mama's Pasta is a wonderful establishment here in Blacksburg. They offer a nice variety of authentic Italian dishes ranging from pastas to Roman pizzas. I have not been disappointed with anything I have ordered from here. Everything is made with high quality ingredients too. I really enjoy ordering from here and look forward to returning!

The restaurant is in a strip mall area near VT campus, with an outdoor/parking lot patio and two wings of seating on either side of the entrance. The graduation menu was a limited, but good selection of fixed price entrees, apps, salads and desserts. They also had cocktails and a nice selection of wine. The restaurant also doubles as a wine shop. A couple of us had beef cannelloni and one had a sausage and pasta dish, along with a calamari starter and Caesar salads. Calamari was hot fresh and very tender, with a good dipping sauce. Salads were crisp and tangy, with the addition of delicious bread. The baked Cannelloni was superb with a ton of flavor and served piping hot. Tasted like some real love went into it; same with the pasta/sausage dish. Large portions and prices were reasonable were quite reasonable. Finished with some light and airy chocolate mousse. Overall, outstanding service and food, especially when considering the limited options for finer dining in Blacksburg. Only drawback IMO is the quality of the food and service is miles above the ambiance and decor. Could still be rustic, but with some interior color and server dress coordination, would make for a classier dining experience.

After hearing about The Farmhouse Restaurant located in Christiansburg, Virginia, and seeing a…read morephoto of it, I was intrigued by its appearance and intererested in finding out more information about it. So I did my research and found out that it opened its doors in 1963 in a 19th-century autentic farmhouse which once belonged to the Ridinger family. It has had several owners and managers throughout its history. Roger Neel and Neal Keesee, owners of Billy's and Cornbeef and Co. in Roanoke, purchased the restaurant and reopened it in 2016. Kevin Murphy was the general manager in 1996. Devin Whittaker is currently listed as the General Manager. The restaurant has been a long-standing establishment in the New River Valley, known for its beef dishes. Currently its menu has been expanded to include a nice selection of seafood items as well. Additions to the original house include several banquet rooms, a bar, an outdoor dining area that can be used year round, and a caboose annex. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And The Farm House in Christiansburg, Virginia, is the perfect example. So one day I made a reservation through Open Table and set out enthusiastically in my new car to go explore what it was all about. After driving in the highway through a nasty rain and thunder storm, the rain finally stopped as I arrived there and was parking in their nice size parking lot. The decor inside was rustic yet very cozy, with many booths inside small spaces, and a couple of very elegant dining rooms nicely set-up and decorated with one of a kind framed Virginia Tech Football memorabilia. It also contained a beautiful award winning wine cellar and exclusive bourbon room. The restaurant was divided into two sides with alleyways where the individual enclosed booths were located and each alleyway had a street name so one could find their way back if they had to leave to use the restroom. The left side was decorated with antique farm items and old photographs and the right side with beautiful colorful paintings by Rochthilde. The caboose annex is located on that side. When I arrived a friendly young lady hostess greeted and welcomed me and after confirming my reservation took me to my booth which was located in Hokie Hwy. You can see the location in my photo of their map. Soon after, my server greeted me and took my order. I started off with a Mojito Mocktail to drink. Their Crispy Fried Calamari as appetizer. Followed by a Caesar Salad. And as the main entrée I had their famous Prime Rib medium rare with the Grilled Shrimp enhancement and the two sides being a Loaded Baked Potato and a Special Corn which was the side of the day. The meal also included these special rolls with butter, which clearly pointed out the exquisite nature of the cuisine of this magnificent restaurant. At this time, I took a brief escape to go visit the bar area and there I happened to have met the Restaurant Manager who gave me a warm welcome and thanked me for having traveled all this way for the pleasure of dining at his restaurant. I found my way back and all the food was amazingly delicious. I invite you to take a look at my photographs accompanying this review. The Prime Rib one of the best I've ever had. Comparable only to Billy's in Downtown Roanoke. My server came by at the appropriate times to check on me and did an excellent job. The Restaurant Manager also came by a couple of times to see if I was enjoying my dinner and if all was to my satisfaction. It was nice to learn that he lived down in Cave Spring, my neck of the woods, and where one of my best and favorite restaurants is located, The OTH Chophouse. For the Grand Finale of what had been an amazing cuisine and an extraordinary dining experience, I had a slice of their Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. It too was amazing. To conclude I highly recommend this restaurant for those special occasions when you want to enjoy a fine dining experience in a very unique and historic restaurant, in a comfortable ambiance, with an amazing culinary masterpieces, and excellent service.
