We came here for a business meeting on a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was surprisingly busy. It was so packed that we ended up sitting at a high-top table near the bar, but it still worked out well. The restaurant itself has a spacious layout with plenty of seating. Service was friendly and efficient, especially considering how busy they were. The food is definitely what earns this place its great reputation. The menu offers a wide variety of options, whether you're in the mood for something light or a hearty meal. Everything we ordered was delicious, and I really appreciated that there was something for everyone. I ordered the red snapper with two sides. One thing I liked was the variety of potato options--they offer roasted cubed potatoes, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, and more, so you can choose whatever you're in the mood for. We also ordered steak, and it was cooked perfectly to our requested temperature. for appetizer, we got the barbecue flatbread and that was really tasty. Reminds me of the barbecue pizza at Cici's which is my favorite pizza that they serve there. The portions were generous, and we all left completely stuffed. The drinks were another highlight. Their cocktail menu has plenty of choices. I had the strawberry mojito mocktail, sampled the margarita on the rocks, and the sangria was excellent as well. Overall, I'm glad we chose this place. I visited 5th Tavern in Bloomfield Hills on a Tuesday evening around 7:00 PM, and I can honestly say this was one of the most disappointing meals I have ever been served at a restaurant. Let's start with the steak. When this plate came out, I'm sure my face said words my mouth didn't. I genuinely could not believe someone in the kitchen looked at it and decided it was acceptable to send out..... The steak was pale, wet-looking and completely unappetizing. There was virtually no browning, no visible sear, no caramelization and certainly nothing about it that resembled the appearance I'd expect from here. It honestly looked more boiled than grilled. And the liquid in the cup looked like grease or oil. It was gross. And then there was the asparagus. lol The asparagus looked completely SAD. The asparagus I received was thin, limp and resembled string beans. The entire plate looked thrown together with absolutely no attention to presentation... no love. After my experience, I looked through customer-uploaded photos of food from THIS SAME 5th Tavern location. That actually made me even more disappointed. There are photos from other customers showing beautifully browned steaks and thick, green, seasoned asparagus with visible roasting and char. In other words, 5th Tavern clearly knows what properly prepared and presented food is supposed to look like. So what happened to MY meal? Unfortunately, the food wasn't our only issue. We chose to dine outside, and the table was riddled with bugs and debris. No one cleaned it, just sat us there. We actually had to CLEAN THE TABLE OURSELVES before we could comfortably sit there. But even after that, I simply could not get past this dreadful steak. I ultimately threw it away. This isn't a complaint because the steak wasn't prepared exactly to my personal preference. I know what a steak looks like, and more importantly, 5th Tavern's own customer photos demonstrate what this restaurant is capable of serving. I genuinely want someone from management to look at my photos and answer one simple question: Would YOU have been comfortable serving this plate to a customer? I waited a couple weeks to review on Yelp because I sent the team a message on IG and they asked that I send an email to which I did, but it appears my experience wasn't important enough to acknowledge. read more

This 5th Tavern is located in Bloomfield Hills in Telegraph Rd. I have been here twice in recent months and this was a perfect location for meeting a bestie in town from Ohio. It was a little busy for Taco Tuesday! They have daily specials Tuesday through Sunday. Many diners were choosing from their Cantina Tuesday offerings. We opted for selections off the regular menu. I had the jumbo shrimp scampi and my girlfriends both decided on the hand-battered Icelandic cod with coleslaw and fries. Three thumbs up! We were truly treated right by our server Maddie. She was not concerned with us hanging out towards closing hours. I also took carrot cake to-go that was yummy! We were seated in a booth in the corner. We ate dinner in Bloomfield at your restaurant. Our Grandson ordered a Burger medium well. Our food was served. Our grandson said is this burger cooked. No we both said. We called our waitress and she said OH I did tell them Medium Well. 15 minutes later she returned with a Burger, our Grandson cut into it before the waitress walked away. RAW, 15-20 Minutes later she bought us The 3Rd BURGER. Our Grandson was frustrated and hungry as we were finished with our meals. We asked to speak with the Manager. Anthony came over about 10 minutes later. He apologized but it REALLY was not Sincere. He just seemed like it was No Big Deal. REALLY, that is So Unacceptable. He did not charge us for the burger BUT he Should have compensated us for our wait time and Our Grandsons frustration. I told Anthony I would put in a BAD review, he just shrugged his shoulders and said it's your choice to do so. This is Horrible Customer Service. This was our 2nd time here & we'll never go back. We've been to a couple other of their locations (Clarkston, Waterford) & love those ones. The first time here I got chicken piccata & asked for noodles instead of the garlic mashed potatoes. I hate garlic mashed potatoes. I was charged for TWO entrees, the piccata & the fettuccine because the chef said he had to make a whole fettuccine dish. WHAT?! If I was charged for TWO entrees I should have gotten TWO WHOLE entrees, not just one entree w/a substitution of noodles for the potatoes!!! The second time we went I wanted the piccata, but wasn't willing to pay double like last time, so I ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo. The sauce was broken & the chicken was so dry it was hard to eat. My husband tried it & said it was almost like eating jerky. I really should have sent it back, but I just wanted to get out of there & go home. We'll never go back to this location. Also, we were seated at a table that was under an air vent & it was like sitting in the Arctic w/gale force winds! I don't get cold too easily, but we had to move. Even my husband was freezing. WOW! I can honestly say this is one place to avoid for any nice dining experience or well prepared food. I ordered a filet mignon medium well and got a bloody rare steak delivered. When I sent it back for a medium well it came back tooth picked together and burnt on the outside and still raw on the inside! I asked the manager that brought it back out why the cook doesn't know how to cook a steak properly? He told me lots of people order steaks here and I shouldn't come back to 5th tavern for a steak again if I don't like it! I agreed, I won't come back!! This is why I need to look at the reviews more than just the overall rating. I might not have given 5th Tavern a try based on the 3 star rating. But, we got a recommendation that superseded the average of the 471 people who wrote reviews before. Thank you, friend. It was busy, and it took a while to get a server. I was starting to imagine why the score was lower than I would've wanted. Then, the waiter showed up, and took our order without writing anything down. I'd rather not help somebody use our order as a memory training device. My wife always has special requests, and it never ends well. I was expecting a disaster. But, first, they brought out freshly baked bread. It was amazing. Then, our orders were delivered pretty quickly after we placed the order, considering how busy it was. And, everything was exactly what we ordered. My wife loved her salmon salad with feta cheese on it, per her request. My wife's mom couldn't finish the Ruben she ordered, but she loved what she had. And, I was impressed by how good my lobster grilled cheese was. There was actual lobster, and a good amount of it. The cheese didn't add much, but it was grilled to a golden crisp in butter, and it was delicious. My sandwich was served with a chunky sauce, which turned out to be the base for a superb, tomato and asparagus bisque. The pesto drizzle was a nice addition. I was surprised that the prices were reasonable, considering all you get. What in the world were people thinking who gave it a bad review? Well, don't worry about them. It seems that the bad reviews were talking about the service. We had an excellent waiter, and that makes all the difference. Ask for a good server, and I'm sure you will be pleased with 5th Tavern. read more

I took my wife to 5th Tavern for the first time last night and it was AMAZING! We shared a Rattlesnake Pasta and their 14oz Prime Rib special. From the soup to the salad to the side to the main entree it was incredible. When my wife took her first bite of the pasta she said "We need to come back here!!!". It was just that good. If you go ask for Duane to be your waiter and ask him to sing for you. We are going back in August for my daughter's birthday. If it was closer to us we'd be going more often. read more

Could be improved for improved sales. I had the Porterhouse with mushrooms and potato. My wife had the full Baby Back Ribs and chili. All items were good. No issues except for my Porterhouse which was a little salty when dunked in the zip sauce. Maybe next time, I will not use the zip sauce. Missing the "au jus". Ribs were excellent and soft, almost fall off the bone. No wait. Fast service. Semi-casual. Highly recommended read more

I really enjoy this restaurant. It's clean, most of the staff is friendly. One thing I don't care for --- every time I've been here the last few months, the women's bathroom is either dirty, stalls out of toilet paper or the trash is over flowing. When I see dirty bathrooms it makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. ‍ Anyway, the food is delicious. This time around I had the steak salad (note to self - next time, ask for it to be chopped and mixed). The steak was top notch! Perfectly seasons for being atop a salad and cooked exactly as i requested. All fresh ingredients and the tomato dressing was a perfect accent to the dish. I also had a spiked hot chocolate, it was a good pour of tequila and served hot. I highly recommend both of these items. read more

m giving Tavern 5 a 1-star review based on my recent experience. I ordered from the gluten-free menu and clearly told the waitress that I have celiac disease. I ordered the stuffed salmon, but after a long wait (we were a group of 14, so I understand delays), I was told I couldn't have it because it contained panko. The frustrating part was that while everyone else was being served, I hadn't even been able to place a new order yet. By the time they came back to me, everyone at the table was already halfway done eating. Being in a large group on a timeline, that put me in an uncomfortable position where I basically had to rush or not eat at all. When I asked what could be made quickly that was gluten-free, I was told "a salad." While I like salads, it's frustrating when that feels like the only safe option offered to someone with celiac. I declined and asked for something hot and fast since it was very cold outside and I had no way to leave to get food elsewhere. I was eventually brought a plate of green beans and asparagus. No compensation was offered and no real apology was given. I understand mistakes happen, but communication, urgency, and basic customer care go a long way -- especially when dealing with dietary restrictions that are medical, not preferences. read more

We were a party of 5. Basically, a bunch of friends getting together for lunch. Very large place; can seat a quite a few people. I can only talk about to the lunch menu. Quite a number of choices for salads, burgers, and sandwiches - range to fit everyone. Gotta love something called the "Hangover Burger". They go beyond standard fare and have high-end as well like "Lobster Grilled Cheese". Wait staff was attentive. Wasn't full when we were there; yet seems to be able to minimize noise. read more

Three of us visited here on a Sunday afternoon about 4 pm. We were seated and waited on quickly. We were given some yummy fresh bread with our beverages. All three of us ordered salads. I ordered the 5th Chopped Salad and it was loaded with the toppings. With chicken on it, the price of $15 wasn't bad! The other two salads were supposed to have chickpeas on them and they didn't. My friends just assumed they were out of them. Come to find out, they were in stock and skipped from both salads. That was a disappointment. The restaurant has a pretty large seating area and an outdoor area too. I'd eat here again but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

But this time a new plate caught my attention, italian sausage tortellini so I had to try it not before ordering a chili soup which was simply delicious. Our waiter was super nice, he even helped me get some ingredients changed, really appreciate when I am given that option, not every place does it. Tortellini was very tasty, loved tue sauce but sausage quantity was not generous enough. We also noticed there arent enough vegan options, just burgers and salads, that was a low as one of our guests was vegan. Manager was very nonchalant & said he saw our waitress type in lamb chops, so not sure what his point was. By this time the rest of us were done eating. Food was bland, lacked salt. Turkey burgers were dry & tasted frozen & reheated. Very disappointing dinner. We were comped some for our troubles and our waitress was very apologetic The manager could have cared less & never apologized. They served brunch until 5:30 & took reservations for dinner also. Perhaps they should not try and jam pack the restaurant to make a buck if they can't provide quality food & service. We will not return. read more

We sat at the bar I had the rattlesnake pasta with chicken, could have been hotter (spice not temperature) and a cup of chili, thick (maybe a little too thick) heavy chili that could of that more spice. My brother-in law ordered a quesadilla off the Lenten menu (it was Good Friday) and he enjoyed it. Now we are both big fellas, he ate may 2/3 of his dish, I ate maybe 2/3 of the cup of chili and was only able to eat maybe 1/4 of my pasta if not less. Huge portions. I took my wife there for our anniversary thinking it was a nice place based on the photos on their website. Sadly It was just average looking. We were seated in the back of the restaurant in an empty room in the corner next to an exit. The ribeye I ordered was 2 out five stars at best. It was over cooked and did not taste good. After I paid our bill I asked for the manager and I asked him why we were seated here away from the rest of the restaurant and he said "some people like to sit here". I told him we came here for a special occasion and I felt very disrespected and he kept defending their decision to seat us where they did. There was no getting through to this guy. Came here on a Sunday for brunch with my two daughters. This place was super busy and loud. The waitress was nice but obvisously overwhelmed. We didn't order from the brunch menu because the line was too long so we just ordered from the main menu. Our food overall was good, my daugther had the Jumbo Shrimp Scampi and it was a little dry with what looked like a pound of pasta and four shrimps. I had the Lemon Chicken and it was good I just wish they gave the option to get it with angel hair pasta. Let me start by saying, I was with a really large party. The restaurant itself is nice and bright. I would feel Comfortable getting dressed up for a birthday dinner or dressing down for a lunch outing. The service was kind of slow. We had one waitress for our whole section and I think they only had one bartender. Nonetheless, I was satisfied with my food, 1000%. I ordered the lobster grilled cheese and devoured it! We hosted a family lunch after my Mom's funeral. Anthony, the manager, was incredibly helpful and flexible. We choose 3 pre -selected menu choices. The event was on a Saturday during their busy brunch. Our food was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was courteous and friendly. Children were allowed to order from the menu first. They provided the linens and we brought in small flower arrangements for the tables. Our event was in one of the semi-private small party rooms.
