Went to try this place as the menu looked interesting. Apparently this place is under new management. Ordered Chicken Kari rolls, vegetable momos, chicken banmi sandwich and lychee green tea. It took over 45 minutes for the sandwiches to be made. The staff didn't tell me anything about the delay which was extremely frustrating. Brought the food home and my wife took one bite of chicken sandwich and it tasted funky. The sandwich was missing the cilantro, jalapeños and the vegetables seemed to be spoilt. Called the store and the person was apologetic and offered to deliver the sandwich to the house. But after the disaster how the food was we were not going to risk it. The person said they would refunding the money and call me back. That was over an hour and still no call back. Not one bit surprising and hoping not to get sick from the food. Why keep the store open when half the menu items aren't available? No halo halo, tandoori chicken, duck, lychee jelly, buns, noodles, dumplings, spring rolls, you name it. I had to list out 10+ different items just to find something off the menu that they were still serving. I've never had to wait over half an hour just for a banh mi and fruit tea. There was only one couple waiting for their to-go order who came in 10 minutes after I ordered yet they got their food/drink before I did. It took forever just to get the sandwich to come out and they didn't even toast the bun which I don't get what caused the hold up on that when it takes only a few minutes to slap toppings on. It took 20 minutes just for the fruit tea to come out which only takes a few minutes to make. The worker apologized about the wait and made an excuse that there were so many orders while we were the only customers ordering when the restaurant was dead. The tables and everything else inside are also really dirty. The fruit tea tastes like sugar water, the dessert was just a bunch of artificial canned jelly and milk, and the sandwich definitely used bad meat that was sitting out. This was actually my 2nd visit to 5t Ice. The very first visit, the door was sticky and it looked dark inside, so we thought they were closed even though there were employees in there and were about to leave. Second time was a charm for sure!..which left me feeling overwhelmed and excited about the choices. This review is mostly about my recent visit. I'll briefly describe my first visit in 2019, which was a little disappointing. I didn't know what to order and randomly picked something with stale brownies/cookies and chocolate ice cream. We also got some soft serve, which they no longer have. The snack were also a little stale as well, so I won't even get into that. 6/26/24 visit: I literally walked in there and asked if they had cheese foam and she said YES (but that it is new and not on the menu yet)! I wasn't expecting her to say yes AND they have other drinks I've been wanting to try (in general) AND they have ube foam. I can't even....she was laughing at how speechless and confused I was with all the options. Ultimately, I asked her if I can have the iced Vietnamese coffee with cheese foam, basically created my own drink (typical me....). The drink was absolutely amazing, with a very strong coffee flavor, the way I love it. They do carry different snacks (Japanese cheesecake, ube cake, pre-packaged croissant, etc.), but I'm definitely more interested in the drinks. I love that they are keeping up with the trends, so I definitely will return for a 4th and 5th (etc.) visit to try the coconut matcha foam and the ube foam. The location itself is kind of in the corner of the structure. It looks a little bit like a "hole in the wall" type place, but this time, I wasn't fulled, I made sure to order the right thing. This place used to have authentic and delicious Filipino desserts. Went back today and that is NOT the case anymore. If you're looking to have Filipino desserts, do not come here anymore. We had the taro slush, gulaman drink, and the taho. All were so, so bad. Tofu was evaporated, the pearls were hard. The food does not taste like Filipino desserts at all. I also had a matcha strawberry latte and the drink was mostly milk so, there's that as well. Overall, if you're looking for good Filipino food do not come here. I would give this place a 2, but because the owner was professional and kind, and since it's a family-owned Vietnamese cafe, I'll give it a 3. **Preface before the review:** I will no longer be coming back. This place has a lot to work on in terms of inventory management and customer service in both the front and back of the house. We found mold in the corn dessert, and the front-of-house staff was rude when we asked for a refund for the hot food. The gentleman refunded us for the cold desserts prior, which had an expiration date of March 2024. The owner also stepped in via phone call and refunded us for the hot food. Finding mold in the food is one thing, but consuming it and other potentially unsafe foods is unacceptable. Thanks to the PBS kids app my three year old really needed to try halo halo. This was the closet place I could find and I'm glad we made the trip. Very interesting dessert and I definitely finished it off, but lack a comparison to judge if it's representative of what a Filipino restaurant would serve (my friend recommended a spot in Woodbridge which I'll have to try). Expect a small business vibe that is optimized more for a grab and go than dine in experience (don't judge a book by its cover here). I came here for fun to try some drinks. I saw they got many good tasting drinks, such as ube and mango. Surprisingly, they have milkshakes too. However, my milkshake was not satisfying. It tasted more like just Oreos and milk rather than good ice cream. I wouldn't recommend getting this item. My friend got an ube smoothie and she said it was delicious! They used magnolia ice cream, so you know it's gonna be good! I'd come back here to try other drinks if it was closer to me. This isn't a dine in place and the restroom apparently doesn't work. First time coming here since they moved from Chantilly and changed their name. I stopped really sick after eating a Banh bao that they had refrigerated and reheated. I'm sure the baos came from 3rd party supplier...but they sit out all day then whatever is left, they refrigerate and sell. I don't fault them but I've learned to only buy them same day, never if it's refrigerated. Their Banh mi sandwiches are made to order so I never had issues and really enjoyed them. I ordered a house Banh mi and halo halo....asked for extra pate. The kid said ok. He made the halo halo, I didn't see the traditional flan on top so I asked him. He said he don't put it on unless it's requested??? Ok I then requested it. He looks around and doesn't find any and the lady in the back said something to him in Vietnamese and he tells me they are out. I took it as is...it was still good...just a little disappointed that you have to request it since traditional halo halo has it on top. Banh mi literally had one thin slice of ham, one slice of cha lua, and some pate. I didn't even see the roasted red pork or the mayo....and remember I asked for extra pate. I don't like writing bad review, but this needs to be said: I took my daughters for some ice cream and they barely gave the girls scoops. the lady working the counter seemed to not know what a scoop is supposed to be. On top of that, the ice cream was freezer burned and old and the boba tea I ordered was terrible, with the boba itself hard and grainy. Located in northern Virginia in a retail strip, near major shops, it's easy to find and there's something for everyone here to enjoy. I visited 5t Ice for a drink and saw that they had an ube milkshake, which I had to try since I love ube anything! I visited soon after it opened on a weekday and was the only customer inside at the time, so there was no wait. The shop itself is small, with only takeout offered. There was no room for dining inside. My ube milkshake was good, especially since it was made with ube ice cream. It had a good consistency of milk to ice cream, so it was blended perfectly. Because it was a milkshake, it was definitely on the heavier side, so I ended up drinking this shake in two days. I loved how creamy the ube ice cream was! 5T ice is a small mom and pop shop tucked away in the Dulles Landing Shopping Center, next to Sarku Japan and Papa John's. This is my go-to spot if I'm craving Vietnamese food in the South Riding area, since options are extremely limited, if there aren't any home-cooked meals. The staff are super nice and will give excellent recommendations for food, and there's also Filipino and some Taiwanese options here too! New owners. I was concerned that the food would not be the same. i actually found the classic BahnMi better but with less veggies and more meat. i asked for extra pate and i indeed got it. (The old owner never gave me the extra pate or we could not tell though we paid an up charge for it. Maybe there was a communications disconnect with cashier and kitchen but it happened four times. )My husband order the dumplings and we were delightfully surprised that the dumplings were nicely filled and the sauce was delicious. His regular order are dumplings and Asian BBQ pork sandwich. This had been a regular stop for us. i've hand the green tea milk shake, matcha milk shake with bobo, Thai ice tea bobo. I really like their Viet snacks/desserts assortment, they have all kinds of chè and I think the only spot in the area to have these. Tried a variety of things here: suong sa hat luu, che chuoi, buko pandan and buko ube and they were all tasty!! Also I like that they dont put mung bean in their suong sa hat luu because I've seen places do that and it doesn't go well with the dessert imo Kind of a hidden spot in the shopping center among the many stores here but recommend!!! About a 1-1.5: 5t Ice is a frozen yogurt shop that is located in a small plaza off of Dulles Boulevard that also offers bubble tea varieties, smoothies, bingsoo, gelato, and Vietnamese appetizers & desserts (sucha s spring rolls, banh mi, com chien tom thit, gau men che, etc.). The hubs and I came to try out their drinks/desserts while in the area. We ordered the Halo Halo and the Passion Fruit Green Tea - the Halo Halo was mostly shaved ice with a very light handed serving of the toppings and hardly any condensed milk. The Passion Fruit Green Tea was very bitter, as the tea may have been steeped way too long, and the drink itself was watered down. I had let the staff know that the drink was not good and to see if I could get a re-do or a swap, but that conversation just turned awkward - they were unapologetic and was pretty resistant in trying to remediate. When I asked if I could just get a refund, they then said that I could get another drink replacement. I opted for the Hokkaido Brown Sugar Milk Tea, one of the specials that they seemed to have featured, which unfortunately ended up tasting like sweetened water - there was no creaminess from the milk tea or any of the brown sugar taste, and it was, again, super watered down. All the items we had ordered were unfinished and went directly into the trash. The place itself is cute, and there are a handful of tables available. Update: My recent experience at 5T ice was not nearly as good as the ones that led me to give this place five stars in the old days. Prices aren't cheap, so considering the taste of the brown sugar milk tea seems to depend upon who is making it when you get it, I think that four stars is more accurate for now, but I'll keep it at 5 based on past experiences, and give them another try when next in the area. It's basically a Tutti Frutti, which is a chain that has taken over the 5T Ice locations, but the other nearby Tutti - which still uses 5T Ice Cups and is way busier than this one - is nowhere near as good as this, ironically. If it were Tai Chi Ice, it would make its customers very peaceful and meditatory. If that is a word. And if it isn't it should be. And now is. Because I used it. Everything here is nice and fresh, like me, and it's definitely one of the better Bubble Tea spots in the DMV area. Much better than its sister location a few miles down the road. Okay, better serving and more consistent ! Today's visit was disappointing , 8/13 around 11:30ish. I ordered a halo halo, it was a different lady made my halo halo and it lacked flavor, so a 2 stars. I hope next time they make it better. I vome almost daily the past week so it was disappointing what I was served today. Very clean and simple concept that rivals the sweet frogs or any ice cream type shop except this one with the Asian flair. They offer not only ice cream based smoothies but also bubble teas, halo-halo to you Pinoys!, Chai and Vietnamese teas among others.
