Okay so I like this place and I was disappointed that my first time visiting there they were out of smoked sausage as well as smoked pork. The chicken I had was tasty but dry. I've been here multiple times (over 6) since they opened. The quality has always been really great. But, today it wasn't that good. My friend wondered if they use powdered and real potatoes in their herbed mashed potato recipe. I bet him $20 that they didn't. I may be wrong. Today, it felt like he was right. We recently moved in across from this restaurant and have wanted to try it but thought it might be too expensive. We looked into the price and found they were very reasonable. When we dined today we loved every bite. The quality of the food is so amazing. The meat was so tender it pulled apart so easily and the sides were so well flavored. The place may not look like much, but their food is always top notch! I've been here a couple different times, and don't like to review based off a single visit. The customer service has been excellent each time, and I've tried different things each time (but each time I've ordered a 2-meat plate), so I can say everything I've eaten has been great! Well they definitely live up to their 5 star name. This place was delicious. That atmosphere is really chill and the staff is great for playful banter and a quick snarky comment. The I got the brisket and with the Mac and cheese, and mashed taters. So so So! SO GOOD! The brisket was tender and juicy (a lot of brisket gets dry and gross). The sides were incredible as well. I wanted to just keep eating the Mac and cheese. I also tried their deep fried funeral potatoes and dayum!!! They were phenomenal! Definitely the best BBQ I've had so far in Utah. Tried this restaurant 2/2/2021 at 6:15pm. Disappointed from the start. Order taker was in unknowledgeable with the menu. He could give no recommendations- seems troubling if you should be selling the restaurant. We ordered a number of things to try on our own. The Oder taker handed me a silver stick with a number on it, I asked if it had been sanitized and he said probably not (first troubling sign) Secondly, went upstairs to dining area, every single table was dirty with leftover food and grime on them. I asked a girl if she could clean the table, she was not happy and did a poor job never bothered to clean any other tables for guests arriving. I feel they did not care about being sanitary or protecting guests from covid. Food arrives and it was cold and disgusting. Photo below of the garlic toast ( I received a heel of bread with no garlic). Turkey was not moist. Funeral potato balls cold. Baked beans had potential had they been warm. Overall I would give them no stars since my experience was horrid. I would not recommend this place to anyone but the health department! Employees did not have mask over noses nor did they wipe down anything the entire time we were there. I suggest they retrain employees and start with cleaning and quality of food. read more

I had the two meat combo plate (pulled pork and brisket) the reason for the 3 stars is simple - the pulled pork was 5 stars (it really was pretty amazing), but the brisket was so fatty and nasty (and chewy - not cooked right) I had to give it one star ... so it averages a solid 3. They really know how to smoke their Briskets and Pork, and the menu is quite nice, as there is really not a lot of guess work in what your choices are. They have a nice array of sides to order from and the meats are all done splendidly! Sauces are aplenty and are house made and have a very good taste. From what I know the owner and I can't vouch that it is still the same, but I assume it is, but he learned the art of great BBQ in the south, and he brought it to Utah! Food is amazing and if you have plenty of time it could be worth the wait. Service is rough, it's not the people it's the organization. Ordered food for pickup and waited 30 minutes for them to finally bring it out. At that point I figured it would be faster to just go in next time. Went in the following time and there wasn't much of a line but it still took 25 minutes to get food. Either way you order expect to wait quite a while to get the items you ordered. I love everything, I am so happy they are open for dinners now. I really enjoy the brisket, chicken and ribs. The pork is great but if you ever come here you need to have the brisket. Apparently, I visited this place on the wrong side of the curve. See, I read all these glorious reviews and then the one day I have left to hit another on my list of Utah County restaurants, so I try to choose the one I think will be the best and wind up here, since I'm in the mood for ribs. Now, parking is kind of a pain and it's evidently a renovated house. Fine, I can live with that and we all know about all those great "hole in the wall" places that serve great food but are otherwise a phenomenal pain (this isn't one of those). Parking sucks at Lucky 13 all the time, but the food is still (mostly) worth it. Converted houses are not, to my mind, ideal, but if done right, can be functional. Most of the people appeared to be on the patio...because they're evidently insane. Inside was fairly light traffic, which was good, so I hit the head. First problem: no paper towels and it was kind of a mess. Undaunted, but sort of worried, I wandered over to the ordering counter, which was entirely unattended. I got there, anomaly as it was, right around actual lunch, which was about an hour after they opened. The menu was itself a disaster, but not helped by being tagged with a whole bunch of pieces of paper stating they were out, including out of ribs, which was what I really wanted in the first place. I was beyond sort of worried into highly concerned at this point, but ordered a two meat plate anyway, as I was pretty hungry. Watching the server plop the brisket onto the plate didn't really help things, but by that point, their absurd slowness had cut into my available time and it was borderline slug-and-go time. On the good tip, the staff, though mostly incompetent, was also very nice. They are definitely badly in need of training, but the effort was there. The rub on the brisket was excellent. The sauce had a nice blend of vinegar and BBQ, which was good because the pork was so dry, it was nearly impossible to eat without. Cornbread was also pretty decent, but could have used butter. As to the rest, the brisket was a disgusting mess. I got probably about 1/3 fat, which is not generally what I want to pay for. The brisket itself was also executed very poorly (probably the biggest surprise), with not much of the connective tissue melted, which made things both unpleasant in terms of mouth feel and unhappily chewy. The smoked beans were overcooked into a texture more like split pea soup. Flavor was ok, as it was with the actual meat parts of the brisket, which had at least a decent smoke flavor. Not so the pork, as I didn't get much, if any, of the bark and instead got a dry interior, but this is more a serving error, I'd say. I also could only find one type of sauce (House, I think), so no idea how the rest are. If I didn't know this place had already been a while, I'd say something along the lines of "I'll be back in a year and hope they get their act together." I think it's more like they have a much different business model now more than being new, but the effect is still the same. All of those negatives I mentioned are really not acceptable for a restaurant of any caliber. Basically, this was a rather significant letdown, being the mixed bag it was when I had such high hopes and realistically expected much better and so, I'll be back sometime next year, if they're still around and hope they've got their act together by then. read more

I ordered the Friday special which was two meat & two sides. I tried the pulled pork, beef brisket and my two sides were mashed potatoes and the coleslaw. Pulled pork was moist and delicious! Loved it! The brisket was good but a tad overly salty for my liking. The mashed potatoes had a nice texture and great flavor. The coleslaw I really did like but there was such a tang to it that I think I made that face when something is super sour. I finished it because the flavor was there, just not a tangy-lover person. I tried a couple of their bbq sauces and liked them too. I felt the food was worth what I paid for it. Very slow service. On line orders were given priority over dine in guests. After waiting 20 minutes i went and asked. No good answers but I pushed for why finally told on line orders had been given priority. They said should be 5 more minutes. We waited 10 Minutes longer to get our food. This week we got two small pieces of brisket (not to mention we had the $1.00 up charge for brisket) a couple slices of Turkey and four very small ribs in our sampler. We stopped in just coming through town looking for a quick bite! At first it didn't really look open from the outside and was dark (I think someone forgot to turn on the open sign"). Anyways this place has amazing BBQ! They cut your choice of meat right in front of you- fresh! We got brisket and pork sandwiches. You could see the smoke rings on the meat and it was really tender. Service was fast and friendly! House made sauces at the table- several to choose from including a house, sweet and spicy bbq sauce. Super good! Their sides are good as well- we got Mac and cheese, fries and mashed potatoes. My only grievance would be that the mashed potatoes were a little dry but it was the end of the day. It's about customer service - or lack thereof. I want the owner to know how disappointed we were with the customer service tonight. (March 22, 2019) I called in an order because the online ordering wouldn't work, they said it would be ready to go in 20 minutes. My husband arrived 10-15 minutes later and then had to wait in line for 40 minutes to find out they never even prepared our order. He then had to wait for the girl who took the order to get off break to find out if our order was prepared. It wasn't. Then he had to wait for our order to be prepared. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so bad and was so stressful that it ruined the rest of the evening for both of us. I'm not sure we'll ever come here again. read more
