I and my workers decided to try 5 B's Barbeque. I must say that I was very suprised and impressed with my food. The atmosphere inside is so cute and inviting. You put your order in and then they bring it to you. I ordered the brisket sandwich with baked bean and seasoned fries. I ordered one rib and 12 wings in maggie sauce, banging nice crispiness very flavorful. I also ordered and IPA beer to wash down my food. read more

We hosted a memorial and had 5Bs cater it for 75 people. Jessica Brown was so accommodating and friendly. The food was fantastic. It was an outside event and the food stayed warm throughout the entire day. Such a friendly local business that knows what they're doing. We've been there many of times to just eat (always amazing) but the catering was over the top easy, convenient and delicious. read more

A carload of hungry, BBQ-savvy Alabamians on one epic road trip. Having driven through most of the Southwest, we just couldn't eat at one more Mexican place. "Huh. Barbecue in Colorado? Let's see how they do it." As it turns out, really well. Really good stuff. My only quibble? We were seated out on the patio and the flies were a bit, well, prolific. Then again, you're supposed to bat away the stray musca domestica while chowing down. That's how you know it's authentic. Not sure when I'll be visiting Gunnison next. But if I do, I'll be making a repeat visit here. read more

Stopped today, a Wednesday, just after 3:00pm to buy some BBQ chicken for dinner. Ordered two half chickens off the "meat by the pound" menu so should have been in the smoker all day... Thirty minutes later, everyone in the place has been served, I'm still waiting for what should have taken 5 minutes. So I ask what's up and I am told "it is coming out now". Ten minutes later, still no chicken so I just surrendered and told them to forget about it and left. Pro tip:If you sell out of an item, just up and say so. Don't spend 40 minutes of your customer's time try to concoct some kind of substitute. Bottom line: I am out eighteen bucks (I foolishly tipped them before the food came out...) and 5B's has lost a customer for life. No winner chicken dinner. read more

Was on my way to hike a couple 14ers and originally was going to just eat at Arbys, but the line was so long I kept right on driving and saw the big van outside of the place and stopped. Best stop of the trip. Ordered the "Tadernator". But got it with fries and brisket. Wow! The plate was huge, way more food than I can eat. It didn't matter, I kept right on working my way through it. I loved the ambiance of the place as well. It felt like a place where you would get barbeque. The prices were reasonable as well. I liked it so much that I stopped on my way back as well. read more

They do such a great job with their smoked meats. Possibly the best ribs in Colorado. But on a Saturday at 5 pm they were out of ribs. And out of chicken. And out of their popular smoked Mac and cheese. It wouldn't be as bad if they had not taken my order for ribs, let me pay and then sit for 15 minutes before they came out to tell me they were out of everything in hardly an apologetic manner. It just soured me on what I consider a great bbq place. Running out of stuff happens but Customer service also matters. read more

Went to Gunnison for the RMAC championship track meet. Loved our brisket sandwiches and a new taste sensation, almond sweet tea. Had an inspiring piece of Texas sheet cake.....made me look for a recipe to try to duplicate at home! Thank you for a GREAT meal and a restaurant to look for next time we are in Gunnison! read more

It's my first stop whenever I pull into Gunnison! I was surprised because they moved, but good for them and capitalize on their success! And the graciously received my dog out on the patio.. win win! We ate here once had a good experience so a few days later I ordered 1/2 lb lean brisket to go. I guess asking for "lean" pissed someone off because they gave me 1/4 lb straight up fat. Everything in the pic is fat and it was at least half of what they gave me. We got one barely sandwich out of 1/2 lb. Check b4 you pay. read more

Stopped here on a road trip for lunch and I do not regret it! Upon arrival, the entrance was a bit confusing with the other restaurants so tightly knit in this townhouse looking building. We realized that there's separate door way along the patio to enter; so look for that daily deals chalkboard! The lady at the front taking our order was very nice and she explained the different popular foods at this joint. She mentioned that they even have turkey! We ended up ordering the two meat platter (pulled pork and ribs) and the daily special which was a potato piled with pulled pork! The food was good and filled us up immediately. However, can I please turn all our attention to their bbq sauce? I swear, anything with that sauce is amazing. It's got a sweet, tangy flavour that just pops your pallet. We spent more time dressing everything with that sauce more than anything. If I could return to gunnison, this would be my go-to bbq restaurant. I just love their bbq sauce! read more

Pretty solid bbq especially given its locale. The sauce is just KC masterpiece I'm pretty sure, which I'm fine with I guess, nothing special but gets the job done. The brisket is a little on the fattier end than I would prefer but has good flavor. The pulled pork was excellent and very tender and not too fatty at all, which is always a risk with pulled pork. The grilled chicken was also very good, a tad dry but again overall good flavor. The Mac and cheese was pretty dynamite though and only needed a little pepper to make it just right. Overall, had a great experience here, friendly staff! Would consider visiting again if driving back through! read more

On a recent trip to visit friends and enjoy the great outdoors we decided to stop for dinner before heading back to camp. We popped into 5 B's and ordered a pile of barbecue to serve 4 adults and 2 children. We tried a bit of everything, including desert, and it was all so delicious. I particularly loved the brisket, and the "Tadernator". I'll be honest that I ordered the "nator" because it's completely ridiculous in the most wonderful way. Really friendly staff, comfortable outdoor tables, and fresh, juicy, perfectly cooked meat make me happy. The next time I'm visiting my friends in CB I'll request that we stop here again. The perfect food after a long day of exploring and hearty enough to hold me over until morning with a full belly. read more

5 B's BBQ was just the place we were looking for. At first, when we arrived we didn't see many customers at the 5pm hour. However after we ordered the place started filling up. The staff was very friendly. They have limited brews on tap but a full bar is available. Now to the best part - wonderful beef brisket (and it was great to get the "smaller" portions). Also ribs were yummy as were the wings (my nephew loved them.) A great selection of sides including sweet potato fries, coleslaw or cornbread. Highly recommend. One recommendation for your menu - could you perhaps serve the Caesar salad a in bowl rather than on a wooden tray? I know, a nit. Thanks. read more

My fiancé and I stumbled upon this hidden gem walking back to our hotel from town. I'm coming to find out that a lot of the reviews in this town are from visitors who happen to have a bad experience. Given that I am a service industry worker I try to keep it local and stick to places that are highly rated. We frequent Gunnison (at least twice a year) from the Springs and I don't know why this place isn't straight five stars across the board. It was fantastic. We took it took go and it only took them 20 minutes to get our rather large order together during their dinner rush. Very pleased! All their sauces were fantastic and we had more than enough food. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Absolute worst dining experience and repulsive service & food. Waited over 30 mins to order, waited another 45 mins for the order to arrive at the table. Super rubbery and grisly brisket was delivered to the table rather than the chicken that was ordered. I was told at that moment (45 mins after ordering) that they were out of chicken. Eye rolls from the staff when I kindly requested a refund after they completely botched the order. Cash refund was brought to the table and slammed onto the table with the as I smiled and said thank you with no response from the staff. If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

The BBQ sauce is delicious! My food came out cold which was disappointing. Pulled pork was lacking in flavor. Brisket was yummy! Ribs came with a rub, fall off the bone. Mac and cheese was not great, and they tasted sweet. Their cheese biscuit was the star! Spinach and strawberry salad was excellent! Service was friendly but never checked on. read more

We stopped by here while we were on a road trip. I got the brisket sandwich and a side of baked beans. It was later in the evening and they were out of potatoes. The girl said the brisket was chopped but it was actually sliced, which is fine by me. The brisket sandwich was very good, good flavor & very little fat, almost no fat. The baked beans were odd, it had a chili taste to it. I would recommend this place & if I'm ever in Gunnison Colorado, I would definitely eat there again. This may sound a little catty, but the young girl working the register wore very short shorts, like almost a swimsuit bottom. I would suggest not showing so much skin in a food establishment, but to each there own. She was very sweet and nice. read more

Yum. Got the pulled pork sandwich, meat was prepared to perfection, moist but not greasy, not one bite of fat throughout. 100% Nice bread to meat ratio, bun was light and crispy on the edges, didn't have to chew through a lot of bread to get to the good stuff. Sauce was meh...syrupy and Heinz-ish. Not my fave. Beans were a nice side, sauce was light and not syrupy. The almond ice tea was also delicious...very refreshing. read more

Who doesn't love fried chicken? How about a fried chicken sandwich? YES PLEASE stopped in a small town called Gunnison,CO in the middle of no where. Found this bbq joint and ordered this masterpiece. It took a hot minute to come out which only means they were frying by order. The pieces of chicken where huge and fried perfectly! I like to try local restaurants - i figure i can always do the chains. Sometimes i get burned, but more often than not i am impressed. That is the case for 5B's BBQ. This place rocks authentic bbq ambiance, family owned and operated and willing to go the extra mile. The lady taking orders literally had a baby carrier backpack on with her baby on board. When I commented on her multi-tasking, she said 'well, its Saturday" with a shrug - like it is a common occupancy! I had the beef brisket sandwich meal - comes with baked beans and a side - i got the potato salad after the lady told me it is home made daily Wow, this place is over the top. I highly recommend stopping here. This town has more dispensaries than people - but i wanted good food, not weed. Here is where you will get it! I was skeptical about enjoying my meal but was pleasantly surprised. I got a really fresh and nicely dressed salad at a bbq joint! The sweet potato fries were really crispy and delicious and if you like lots of food, try the taternator! 2 of our party got it on fries rather than baked potato and they really liked it! Great service and very friendly folks running the place. Definitely on the list to return to next time I am in town! read more

Stopped at 5 B's BBQ on our way through Gunnison. What a nice surprise this place was. Everyone walked away happy (that says a lot with a very very picky teenager on board). Bottom line, absolutely wonderful BBQ.... And I'm from Texas so I've had my fair share of BBQ. Simple menu offerings so everyone in my group could find something to eat. I was thrilled to see fried okra offered as a side choice (difficult to find fried okra outside of the south). Reasonably priced and clean dining area. They do offer beer and home made deserts including Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake. We will definitely go back when in the area! read more

When we arrived, we were initially told dogs weren't allowed. I explained that our dog is extremely well-behaved and simply lays quietly under the table. The hostess said that was fine and seated us at a table right next to the outdoor area. After we sat down, three different employees approached us asking whether our dog was a service animal, even though another staff member had already approved her being there. By that point, we felt singled out and uncomfortable. The final employee was particularly rude and suggested we could tie "it" to a tree if we wanted to eat there. Referring to our dog as "it" and suggesting we leave her tied outside was shocking and unnecessary. Rather than continue feeling unwelcome, we decided to order a pizza to go. We had planned to stay for drinks, appetizers, and dinner, but instead we ate in our car. The prosciutto pizza was decent, but it was much saltier than we expected. At that point, we were just hungry and wanted to leave. What was most disappointing wasn't the dog policy itself--businesses are absolutely entitled to set their own policies. It was the inconsistent communication and the way we were treated after being told it was okay to stay. Instead, the experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

We decided to try 5Bs Barbecue based on other reviews and word of mouth, so we took the family out for a meal. The menu had a decent selection, though the kids' menu seemed a bit lackluster. For example, one chicken strip with fries for $8 felt overpriced. We ordered two brisket plates, each with two sides. I specifically asked for fatty brisket on mine, and we also got a two-meat plate with pulled pork and brisket for the kids to share, along with a grilled cheese from the kids' menu. The orders came out in a respectable amount of time, but unfortunately, the portions were less than expected. Both brisket plates were fatty, which was fine for me, but my wife did not enjoy hers as she had not ordered it that way. Oddly, the two-meat plate came with lean brisket instead. The brisket itself was moist and tender, but it lacked flavor. My wife ended up not eating hers due to the excess fat. The sides were a mixed bag. The fries and mac 'n' cheese were good, but the coleslaw had a strange aftertaste, and the potato salad was excessively wet and lacked flavor. The meat plates also came with pickles, fresh jalapenos, and pickled onions. While the pickles and jalapenos were fine, the pickled red onions were surprisingly bland. On a positive note, the kids enjoyed their meal, but overall, I wouldn't return or recommend this place. Despite the decent service, the food quality just didn't meet our expectations. read more

We had 5 B's Barbecue cater our Western Night after our wedding, and they were absolutely amazing! Drew, the owner, is incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make everything seamless. Coming from Texas with mostly Texan guests, our barbecue standards are high and 5 B's far exceeded them. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, the sides were delicious, and our guests are still raving about the food.
