I used to love this place, but quality has really dropped. After a couple of not so good breakfast burritos, I gave them one more try. When I ordered I asked that they cook the bacon crispy. I asked again just to be sure. No problem I was told. Well, that didn't even come close to happening. The cook did the exact thing the cook always does...cooks one side only (not even brown), never flips the bacon and then serves warm and raw. I did not expect much from a gas station restaurant, but the veggie breakfast burrito was the best I've had in a long time. Usually I drown mine in hot sauce, but I refrained because I didn't want to mess up the flavors. This was really good and I'm leaving happy, and with a full tummy. The price was reasonable too! Powerstop has fallen off hard in the last year, skip this place until they get their act together! I hope that someone in charge sees this review and makes some changes. Food has gotten worse, takes longer (was never fast but used to be worth it) and prices are going up. I live in the valley and this used to be one of my favorite places in gunni. However it has just been getting more disappointing every time I give it another chance. The philly used to be loaded with steak and cheese on a solid bun and was actually worth the 20+ minute wait and high price. However they have steadily cut back on the amount of food to the point where it is a complete rip off. My last Philly was the final straw. It was a barely toasted bun with just a few shards of steak and no noticeable cheese. It was basically just bread and a couple fries that I waited 30 minutes and paid $25+ for. Additionally I work in a restaurant and live off tips so I understand the service industry but I feel scammed tipping the kitchen and cashier 20% only to have them short me on my food and give terrible service. To Powerstop please hear this and return to how things were or you will continue to lose your base of local customers. We have noticed and aren't happy, everyone I have spoke to has noticed the drop in quality and value. To anyone who hasn't been here before skip it and go to The Dive instead (same price point these days and better food/service/atmosphere). Unless Powerstop makes some changes I will not go back and would advise everyone to avoid it. P.S. Never ask them for extra steak or toppings they will basically double charge you and not even give you that much. One time when trying to get a sub with the same amount of meat that they used to give every time I asked for extra and it was almost $40 FOR ONE SANDWICH before tip! And they still shorted me on the steak :( P.P.S this was my favorite place until every time became an increasingly disappointing experience. It is hard for me to give up on it but it really is just not worth it anymore and trust me I have given them so many chances over the last year and things are only getting worse. Food was surprisingly good. I ordered the spicy cheesesteak (sans cheese) and my hubby ordered the regular. They were delicious and lean. Curly fries were good. This is in an actual gas station/convenience store, so it is kinda gritty -- tbh, the place could be cleaner. It was also super cold with the AC blasting when we went in....brrr, I guess they want people to leave quick. Other than that, good prices and good cheesesteaks. They even have draft beer on tap! This place is AMAZING. The food, the people, the environment. Gunnison has a great abkut of restaurants but this is a little gem in an obscure area of Colorado. Clever creations. Adequate portions. Their flavor profiles are spot on. If I had one critique is the cleanliness. It gives me pause. Chairs with a few layers of people, oil and dirt would take a few minutes per chair. Looked up a spot to eat real quick and decided on this after reading a few quick reviews and they were SPOT ON. a large great menu with a wide range of items from breakfast to lunch/dinner. if you can put your ego aside and forget you're eating at a gas station restaurant, their food hit it off the charts. Stopped in on the recommendation of a friend! The staff was super friendly and chatty even at 10pm. I ordered the pastrami burger with with curly fries. Everything came out hot and fresh. The bun was toasted perfectly and the pastrami had good flavor. You could taste the local beef in the burger. The only downfall to the meal was the burger was way over cooked and was dry. The Gunnison restaurant equivalent of "Clerks." You skulk past a gaggle of random crusty locals (or staff on break) on the porch out front. You'll go in to pick up your order because, for previously alluded-to reasons, you've called it in. You get the greasy bag with your order (or you'll wait another 20, 20% of the time, cuz they forgot to make it). Two thirds of the time, the fries are lukewarm because they've been sitting awhile. Even lukewarm, they're better than most. Because Powerstop looks like a place where fries are supposed to be lukewarm and bad rather than lukewarm and good, you imagine they'd be really really good if you ever were to get them at the right time. Same with the wings. Other places in Gunnison, like the Gunnisack and 5Bs, make claim to having first-class wings but they don't: they're easily a class below. Power Stop's wings genuinely are first class, regardless of whether you get them hot, or instead not or without the side dressing or without the box having been well sealed. They are an A-OK place, as 3 stars denotes. Which is probably fine by them. They could have more 'tip-top' service, but it doesn't matter: wouldn't help them sell more wings or burgers. When you've got a hankering for Citizen Kane, you'll take the Kevin Smith set in stride to get your fix. read more

Restaurant is filthy, kitchen is disgusting, unable to sit outside because this is a gathering area for smokers, tables are never cleaned between clients. My husband and I stopped in here for a burger. Although the burger and fries were quite good, the beer was quite cold, the ambience could not have been worse. Horrific, vulgar, rap music was blasted throughout the restaurant. I don't consider myself a prude at all, but to have this kind of music blasting from your speakers is not only uninviting, but it is totally inappropriate for a family business. There was a couple in there with their 12 or 13 year-old child, an elderly couple probably in their 70s or 80s, and my husband and I who are in our early 60s.
