    Crispy Chicken Wrap
    Kristin ..

Passing through Gunnison and wanted a quick bite from a local place. I unfortunately rolled in ten minutes before closing but they still had patrons and were kind enough to let me order to go. I ordered the crispy chicken wrap and it was fresh and delicious.

Food is just what you want and well cooked. Perfect eggs Fantastic and outgoing staff w smiles. Yeah that still happens in Gunnison. Good lunch while taking a trip through the mountains. Comfortable, reasonably priced and decent service. The grilled turkey, with delicious bacon, served on sourdough was a hit. Freshly brewed ice tea, with the refill I had to ask for more ice -- Ice goes in iced tea and warm tea, melts the ice. Clean inside. Friendly, nice people at the cafe. Good comfort food, nothing fancy here.

Passing through Gunnison again, we chose this place for lunch after we found the Dive closed. Backcountry Cafe seems popular and feels like a local place. We sat inside as there was a wait for the back patio. Their menu offers all day breakfast as well as American-type lunch options. They have a lot of choices available and there's probably something for everyone. Parents and fiancé all got Philly cheesesteaks and fries for lunch. I was feeling more breakfast-y, so I got the "Cowboy breakfast" which came with one egg, a pancake, and bacon. I also added a side of home fries. The food was good. Nothing super remarkable, but good. Everything was cooked properly and they hit my preferred level of doneness on both my scrambled eggs and my bacon. The pancake was light and fluffy. My fam liked their Phillies and fries. The home fries were awesome but for a few larger bites that were a little undercooked. Service was friendly and very fast -- despite being very busy, they got our food out to us in less than 15 minutes. This is a good stop if you're craving some American grub or breakfast!

Absolutely loved this place! The food was outstanding and the service was quick and responsive. We hit it right after noon, and once we sat down, the place was bombarded by customers who had to stand around and wait for a table to clear. There were only about 12 in the place. My only grievance was the arctic temperatures under the table by the front window. In snow boots, my toes were freezing. Worth the suffering though, to experience those hashed brown patties and biscuits! It's worth mentioning that customer masks were not tightly regulated. An old-timer came in with no mask at all, signed up for a table, and proceeded across the dining room to the bathroom. If I were the type to be greatly offended by such a thing, I would deduct a star or two.

Great food. Service was good! If you want a little more low key ask for the patio. You can bring your pup.

Good food, good service, nice outdoor patio. Not fancy but hearty. We'd likely go there again if we're back in town.

Super friendly service and very accommodating for my no dairy requirements. I had the veggie burger, which was probably the best veggie burger I've ever had. This thing was so fresh tasting, there's no way it was prepared from being frozen. Full of quinoa, corn, etc. super duper delicious remoulade on a really good gourmet bun. Of course, I forgot to take a pic, but, I did manage to document my eating mates selections. See those pics - albeit, half eaten. Upgrade your order to the sweet potato tots, don't even hesitate, they're healthy and come with a mustard seed aioli sauce that makes the whole meal 360 degrees of scrumptiousness. I wish I had room in my pie hole for the donut ice cream sandwich - my only regret. Go off your intended route to try this place. McDonald's and Taco Bell don't need you. There's lovely tables and chairs under the trees that are clean and stocked with napkins and hand sanitizer. A really nice break in our trip!

They have a nice sized patio area with about 7 spaced out tables and a couple of chairs for the to go orders. There is a huge pine tree for shade as well. Simple menu written on a chalk board because it varies daily. The prices seem appropriate for a quality food truck and for the area as well. I was already debating the Philly or the shrimp poboy depending on what they had and it turned out to be the poboy. Order didn't take long and then my huge sandwich arrived. It came with a small bag of chips, but the sandwich itself is huge and loaded. The sandwich is on a soft hogie rather than the traditional french type of bread, but it's delicious and fresh . The shrimp (plump, perfectly cooked and plenty) is in a kind of dark cajun remoulade mixed with bacon and sauteed onions with multi colored bell peppers. Oh, and it has lettuce so you don't feel bad about eating it all in one sitting! :) Overall, I loved it! Bursting with flavor in every bite! Felt more like a Cajun shrimp Philly minus the cheese. Only if I was to be the one to name it of course! There is no such thing as a shrimp Philly though...yet! Oh, and ask for a fork or to have them cut it in half or you will be using way more napkins than necessary! ;-) Met Kevin, ones of the owners and he was very nice and easy to talk to. Nice place to stop if you are passing through or if you are a local, what are you waiting for!? Try them out before they go on their winter vacation! :) Or just make sure you try them out when you get a chance. They'll be back. I hope!
