    Food truck

An awesome feast on a shady street corner in Gunnison after hiking in the national park. This food truck serves up delicious - and large portions - of comfort food. We had the fried chicken sandwich and the grits with shrimp. Both a big wow. Service is excellent. The friendly staff knock themselves out to get the orders out quickly. Plus they have water for road-thirsty dogs.

Talk about a little 'hole-in-the-wall' eatery, Burnell's is just a food truck (almost in an alley) with picnic tables surrounding it. We wanted a light lunch since we planned to have a large dinner later, so we ordered Burnell's mixed salad. It was terrific with vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes, etc.), sliced almonds, chunks of brie cheese, and deep red strawberries. (Yum!) My wife raved over it, and I almost did. One type of lettuce included was arugula. (Not my favorite.) But there wasn't much of it, and the rest of the salad was so wonderful that I ate everything (arugula and all). Afterwards, we learned from the chef that we could order the salad without arugula. (I'll do that for sure the next time.)

Enjoying my visit here from Texas by having a fabulous lunch with my sweet mom and her girlfriends.

Shrimp & grits, salad, brats, homemade chicken salad, all yummy! And you could have a donut icecream sandwich if your not full feom lunch!

Outstanding Food Truck food. The Shrimp and Grits were the best I've ever had. Completely Gourmet. Staff was amazing and they over heard me agonizing between the S&G and Chick Philly so they add a sample of the Philly. I rate this in my top 5 food trucks easily.

Half size order of the Stuffed French toast with bacon. Get the full size, it's too yummy to just eat half!

It's a food truck with lots of outdoor seating. What a brilliant idea! We passed by here on our way back to Denver from Crested Butte. They were open the morning of July 4th, serving their full breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered the 1/2 portion of the stuffed french toast with a side of bacon, and my partner ordered the huevos rancheros with elk. I should have ordered the full size because I was rather hungry, and it was super scrumptious, with cream cheese, strawberries, and blueberries stuffed inside the french toast. The bacon was perfectly crunchy, but not overdone. I tried a bite of the huevos rancheros and that was really darn good - apparently, it's one of the most popular dishes, and I understand why! It's a great choice if you're in a savory breakfast mood. There were a couple other breakfast spots/cafes on Main Street, but I'm glad we picked this one. It wasn't crowded or noisy, and the food was excellent.

So good it should be illegal. Every time I come to this place I am thrilled with the food.

I love this place. I have had breakfast and lunch and it always is a fun atmosphere and great food. Too much food for one person, so I can always get a second meal out of it. Best think to try is the elk chorizo. It is especially tasty in the biscuits and gravy!

OMG. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. Delicious shrimp poboy. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the vinegary accompaniments were an excellent combination with the chewy bread. You also have to get the grits with green chillies and plenty of bacon. Yummm! Totally cool vibe too chill in as you wait for your scrumptious meal.

We stopped in for lunch today, so good. I had read about it and had heard it was a tasty food truck. The truck has a nice lot,and atmosphere is really cute. The friendly owners are serving a really tasty brunch, lunch menu. I had the sweet potato bowl with a poached egg. So tasty, a party in the mouth, greens, black beans, sweet potatoes and a delicious verde salsa. My husband had the shrimp and bacon po boy, he loved it, had a nice amount of sautéed peppers and onions. We will be going back. The only thing missing is a beer garten!!!! The owner said next year they will be adding that.

Rancheros Bernellos and Biscuits and gravy with elk crumbles....yummmmmmm

For nearly $70 I'd expect close to the best ribeye of my life. It came out looking kind of sad - dry and almost shriveled, with the "seasonal veg" side just a few blackened stalks of broccolini, both artlessly tossed in the middle of an oversized plate. Happily the cook was pretty good, just shy of the medium, as requested. Unhappily a full third of the cut was gristle and inedible fat. The veg were cold and chewy. But I like broccolini so didn't mind too much. However - as my second side I chose the Caesar salad and it was pathetic. The lettuce was essentially dry. Maybe a few drops of dressing had been waved over it but it was really just lettuce with what tasted like coarse American Parmesan, not true Reggiano. Maybe I'm wrong, but in any case it was a terrible salad. The croutons could break a tooth. I asked for the chef or whomever to just pair a red to go with it. I assumed since the menu was all French, Spanish, and Italian wines they knew what they were doing. They gave me some fruity California Cabernet that totally missed the mark. Didnt bother to see what I was charged for it. Key Lime pie was sickly sweet and not tart enough. Espresso cold. Service was passable but like I tend to find in all mountain towns now, detached and perfunctory. This was a nearly $200 meal for just me. The river view almost salvaged it but I'd not rush back.

However, the other night we had a really lovely meal and were luckily seated downstairs, which was very prettily decorated and noise levels not too high. Best thing we had was the whipped ricotta with herbs, fresh and dried apples and, of course, bread. The sage and thyme combo with fruit and light fresh ricotta was so good. So good I forgot to take a photo until we'd wiped the plate clean. Meatballs were also very tasty w a very nice tomato sauce. The burrata served w radishes, beets, citrus and arugula was delicious.
