Stopped here on our way back from Crested Butte, and...I don't say this often...but it was a subpar experience. Let's begin with the service, shall we? Our waitress was friendly but VERY inattentive, so much so we had to flag her down on several occasions just to get her attention. Seriously, I'd expect much better customer service especially when no else was there but a group at the bar. On to the food. Two of us ordered the Palisades Burger (one medium and one medium rare). Both were over-cooked and dry...at least the fries were good. The other two ordered a Colorado Buffalo Burger and the Chicken Milano...no complaints. Was unexpectedly hospitalized in Gunnison. Since the restaurant is about 100 yards from the hospital, my wife called in an order for pickup. I ordered the Chicken Friend Steak with mashed potatoes, a side salad, and garlic bread. I did not get my side salad. I got some super nasty mixed vegetables instead of the mashed potatoes. The garlic bread was cold and stiff. The chicken fried steak was just OK. Gravy was very bland. We tried to call them after we received the wrong order and were put on hold forever and then just got a busy signal. read more

I had a salad of field greens & fruits... If there were grilled chicken or shimp as an option it wouldve been pure perfection. It was yummy as is but that simple addition would have made it!! Also In search of protein I ordered wings those also were good but not great. They were good but lacking a ittle base flavor & they were a tad tough. We are in town for a family getaway and was the first restaurant we tried. The food was so good that I didn't have time to take any pictures before we all cleaned our plates! Our group had nachos (the half order is still huge), blts, mandarin chicken salad, and taco salad. For dessert we shared the brownie sundae. Our server, Nicole, is an absolute gem! So we walked into the bar area and I asked the first waitstaff I saw if we could be seated, that we wanted to eat. He seated us. We waited another 15 minutes. Came in for an early dinner on a Saturday. We ate in the bar as they were having a private event in the dining room. Be warned the place is loud when full. Service was fine nothing great. Food was terrible. Both my father and I ordered the chicken fried steak. Totally over cooked. It was burnt and tough. I got the salad. Poor would be kind. My father got the tomato soup and said it was fine. The gravy on the chicken fried steak was not good. It tasted like flour. As if the food wasn't enough we then had to literally wave down our waiter to pay for it. He said he would bring us a bill after we waved him and down and waited again for 15 more minutes. They use table check out so at least he doesn't have to walk away with our card, that was a plus. My advice go else where if you have taste buds. We won't be back. read more

I waitressed & bartended for over 10 years and I never leave negative reviews because I figure, hey, maybe the server/kitchen had a bad day! Today as the waitress (who we've had several times and she is the worst) continued to forget about us, I decided that we're never coming back. She messed up the drink order, she messed up the food order, she dropped half of the plate of chicken tenders on the way over and then brought one single cold chicken tender to the table 10 minutes later. My taco salad had old guacamole that tasted bitter... the lettuce was old. We're not the type of people to send stuff back or complain so we didn't want to say anything... until we got the check. As a server I would have automatically discounted the tenders at the very least but this waitress actually charged us for stuff we didn't order! I decided I needed to find someone else who could help us sort out the bill because I didn't want to wait 10 minutes for her to return after already having been there for an hour and a half for lunch and it was a SLOW day! She argued with us about what we ordered, and made no effort to make us happy after giving some epically horrific service. They took $2 off for a salad we never got. That's it. This place totally sucks in the way of customer service. I only gave 2 stars because my boyfriend said he enjoyed his chicken tenders that actually made it to the table. Palisades was one of the first restaurants we ate at in Gunnison. Our overall impression at the time was "slightly disappointed"; the restaurant looked like it would be better than it really was. Our server, Ardin (sorry if misspelled!) was phenomenal. Friendly, helpful and attentive!! Our food was just as good. Hubby had the Chicken Fried chicken with a salad and mashed potatoes (gravy on the side and their homemade ranch) and I devoured the Barbacoa and Bacon Bun with Texas toothpicks. Pretty decent place, nothing that really blew me away though. Service was excellent. Even though it was slow (folks tend to drop the ball during shift change), we were immediately greeted, and showed to our table. They have those news paper-like menus, so don't be deterred, the food's on the inside. I split the BLT and the Jalapeno poppers for a "lighter" lunch and was very pleased. Plenty of poppers, and nice crunchy bacon for the sandwich. A friend that was with us got the Gumbo, and was very happy with it. If I happen to be back here again, I will probably go with the Gumbo. So the adventure begins when it is decided to go to palisades after a long shift (here on a work assignment not from the area). We are greeted by a very friendly hostess who immediately sits us at a table with the sun right in our faces, she goes oh there is curtains on the window u can pull down if you don't like the sun in your faces. Me and a fellow crew member jump up and try to pull the curtain down only to realize it's not a curtain and is just a window decoration, she laughs and goes oh maybe not and immediately seats us at a different table after we requested it. Problem solved right? WRONG! 20 minutes of sitting at the new table later a waitress brings us waters sets them on the table and walks away without really paying us any mind. 20 minutes later the bartender comes into the dining area to take our drink order, shouldn't the bartender be tending to the bar and not taking our order in the dining area? Shouldn't that be the waitress' responsibility? Anyways she takes our drink order and we let her know we are ready to order food. She takes down our order and heads around the corner. 15 minutes later we get our drinks we ordered. 10 minutes of waiting for a refill I finally grab a waitress and request a refill. Waitress never brings refill, bartender walks by, I ask bartender for refill. Bartender comes back soon after with refill, apologizes that they forgot about my refill (restaurant has very few customers by the way). 20 minutes later we get our food, I ordered the grilled chicken fettuccine, what I got was grilled chicken pasta grease soup, see photo below. My Crewmember got a burger that was made with a precooked frozen hamburger patty you would get from your local Walmart, third Crewmember's salad I happily announce was edible! It gets better from here, we request our checks. Bartender brings us our checks, I still give bartender 2 bucks tip because I felt bad about not tipping and seemed like she was picking up the slack. 2nd crewmember gets bill, questions bill because it's 4 dollars more expensive than what it should be. Bartender takes bill to double check price, comes back and apologizes says it's a fluke with technology. 3rd crewmember also pays bill, after finally leaving the restaurant and getting back to the vehicle we all realized we got overcharged 4 extra dollars onto our bills, crewmember 2 caught it and didn't get the extra charge, hmmmmm... Shortly after arriving back to my hotel room, I started writing this review on the toilet... total time in restaurant - 1 hr 25 minutes total time to order drinks and get drinks - 35 minutes total time to receive food - 45 minutes total time on toilet from food poisoning - 45 minutes 1 star for terrible service, terrible food, food poisoning, and employees knowing service is terrible and instead of fixing terrible service, secretly overcharges customers to force a tip out of them for terrible service. This restaurant was awful! We went there on 8-9 got there at 5 and dinner came about 6:15.
