Where's the lox? If I'm spending $25 on two bagels, I want to eat more than a thin little scrap of lox.

The bagels are fantastic! It's sweet, soft, but chewy, and they toast the sandwich bagels which brings out more of the yeasty taste. I got the lox deluxe, the Bronx, a freshly squeezed OJ, and an iced chai lea latte. They packed the bagel sandwich full of meat and cheese, the OJ was sweet, refreshing, and has some pulp but not enough to give it any texture other than smooth. The chai lea latte was okay. It tasted a little watered down. Overall, the environment is cute and great for little social meetings, however it gets busy and loud. Would definitely come here again! read more

Came here based on Yelp. While I came here to get a more traditional breakfast sandwich with egg and meat, and not a bagel per se, I cannot resist a Lox bagel. It came toasted, ample salmon, onions, tomatoes, capers and for a really nice addition, spinach. Outstanding. They make their own cream cheese. It is in tubs that look like ice cream. I have not seen something like this. I sampled one while waiting for my sandwich, Sriracha Bacon, and wow, awesome with a nice kick. I have to come back for that one. $8.25 for the sandwich and $2 for a medium roast coffee. Staff very nice. read more

I absolutely ADORE this place! Everything about it is so awesome! Love the aesthetic. The bagels have a nice chew to them. They have a bunch of different cream cheeses to choose from, and they even have vegan options! (Yay!) They may seem a little pricey for a bagel sandwich and what not but definitely worth it. So I was born and raised in Queens, NY is well known for their bagels. So moving here to West Des Moines from DC I lost all hope. But I got to say I was pleasantly surprised with this place located in Clive. People that worked there were super friendly. My everything bagel was very good and would stand up pretty well against some of those bagel places in queens. Yes I said that! Don't drive by this place! The atmosphere is not what I was expecting, but is clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I got a bacon, egg and cheese bagel which had great flavor and wasn't too chewy. I also got their vanilla custard latte. It is pretty good. Not the best espresso I've ever had, but not bad either. I stopped in for lunch around 12:30 yesterday with my sister after hearing good things about the place on this site. I have always been a Bruegger's fan girl, sibce my husband worked there for almost 5 years in Ames. I wanted to see if 5 Borough Bagels was better. The place is cute and simple, and refreshing in terms of style. They serve breakfast all day, and have bagels, salads, and wraps. We ordered a breakfast bagel, one of their lunch bagels (The Queens) and a cheddar bagel with veggie cream cheese. Specialty Bagels- These were both amazing. They were toasted and crisp on the outside while still soft and supple on the inside. I ordered my breakfast bagel with cream cheese, and there was plenty on the sandwhich. The flavors were spot on for both of them, and it was a great experience. Cheddar with Veggie Cream Cheese- This one we ordered because I felt like to truly judge a bagel place, you gotta go simple and see how they do. Well, they did amazing. Again. Lots of cheddar cheese, and the cream cheese. Holy cow. It was fresh and LOADED with fresh veggies. It was light and refreshing and just amazing. And they give you a LOT of cream cheese, so be prepared for a messy eat. Price- 2 sandwiches and 1 bagel with cream cheese for less than $20. I felt the price point was a great deal given how fresh and delicious they were. Service- Our service was really good. The people working behind the counter were courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Cons- They have self-serve water for free, with child - sized cups. I just wish they had full-sized cups, but that's being really nitpicky. Also, most of the tables hadn't been wiped down while we were there, so we found it a little hard to find somewhere to sit (we wiped one down ourselves). And the last con was that there were no napkins at tables. They had one napkin dispenser by the water, and it was empty. With the amount of cream cheese they serve, they need napkins at every table! Came here to check it out since I was really craving bagels and glad I did! Very vibrant and modern place with nice new york style bagels, unique cream cheese flavors, drinks, etc. I felt like I was in a bigger city. I got a breakfast bagel with ham, egg and cheese and it was definitely Instagram-worthy when I pulled the halves apart I see the yummy oozing cheese! They have some pretty cool bagel flavors. I got a garlic, blueberry. And one that is a hybrid between an English muffin and bagel. I got the sriracha bacon and honey walnut cream cheese. Very delicious. Hand written specials on the board as I walked in gave me a teaser to the rest of the menu. I had a sausage egg and cheese on cheddar bagel with coffee and my friend had bacon egg and cheese on everything. My bagel Sammie was made to order and DELICIOUS! Chewy texture with great flavor. A very cool, modern layout, with outdoor seating as well this is a perfect little spot to have a meeting, work, or just grab breakfast or lunch to go! They have fancy coffee drinks, summery lavender lemonades (with blue berries), and fresh squeezed Orange Juice everyday! I love that they have vegan options for cream cheese on their bagels which looked absolutely delicious and they make sandwiches to boot! It was pretty busy while I was there probably due to the Golf Tourny in the neighborhood, but the lines moved fast and the vibe of the place was electric! Where to begin with this place! After my first trip to NYC a few months ago I was in despair that I wouldn't be able to find a comparable bagel to the ones I enjoyed while in the big apple.
