I love Caribou Coffee. I particularly love its line of sparkling teas. It's also cool that this franchise hails from Minnesota. It was the final full day of my stateside trip in October. I was in Des Moines and took my time driving back to Bloomington. After checking out of the hotel, I needed a beverage. This Caribou Coffee was a two-minute drive away. It was wonderful. I hit the drive-thru. I had the nicest woman on the other end take my order. I rattled off my phone number associated with my perks account. I then ordered a large sparkling peach black tea. There was a customer ahead of me. I approached the window once that person was done. I paid with a credit card and tipped. I then got my drink. I thanked the woman and left the cafe to get on with my day. My peach black tea was perfect. I loved the peach flavour mixed in with black tea. The fact that it was sparkling made it enjoyable and fancy. My day started on the right foot. It continued to keep me content. I stopped at a couple of places in Des Moines before leaving the city to head northbound. It was great getting my first 'bou fix in Iowa. Whenever I'm back in Des Moines, I'd definitely return here for more sparkling drinks. (455) read more

Great WiFi. Unfortunately, I am gluten free so I can't eat anything on the menu. However, I consistently use their drive-through service for coffee on my early morning commutes. Great coffee and great service! It's a very nice interior as well with plenty of seating to get work done or socialize. read more

My malted mocha coffee was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it's to be expected for that kind of drink. I went bright and early in the morning and had a very lovely barista. She was super polite, quick, and even thought to sleeve my hot drinks in different colored sleeves so I could easily tell them apart. Overall, seems to have similar vibes to Starbucks. read more

Do yourself a favor. It's a drive but there's a place in Waukee called The Coffeesmith. It's locally owned, has good staff, and their drinks are amazing! Also, a latte isn't $9. I want a warning experience in the morning, this place makes you feel like you're an intruder! Solid coffee point however I think we all know there's more sugar than caffeine in most of these drinks. It's not for the coffee purist at all nor much of an alternative to Starbucks but does offer more enticing options, better atmosphere, warm and cozy, prices seem a quarter friendlier too. I had some overly sweetened diabetic coma-inducing bean brew (completely forget what it was) - way too easy to drink. We did Chick-Fil-A for breakfast because that omelet burrito is incredible, could have come here, noticed a lot of good options for morning. Bummer these are not filtered into Indiana and can recommend not just because Starbucks is a tax evading basic-girl-smooch! read more

My wife and I went here at 10:30 am on 11/7/2024. The girl behind the counter was very stoic. Not a smile not a good morning , no feeling of welcome at all. I order a salmon and asiago bagel. I was told that they make the sandwichs in the morning and they were premade I could only get plain. I said ok when I got the bagel it was asiago. So I don't know what that was about. I always try to give this place a chance due to the fact that they are the only bagel place in West Des Moines that I know of in that area. This place is lazy and has low effort and very low quality. This morning I ordered a smoothie and it had a sticker on it with the expiration date for Saturday meaning that this smoothie has been premade and sitting around for someone to order. The smoothie was absolutely disgusting, it takes four seconds to blend a smoothie and make a fresh one. Not only did I wait in line for a smoothie that takes five minutes max to Meg but I also paid eight dollars for the smoothie that had been sitting around waiting for someone to order it if not ordered then thrown away by Saturday. This place is never good, Low quality establishment wouldn't even give me a water cup without paying for it. That was my last chance with this place I will never return. read more

Bagels here are tasty! I almost want to say I like them better than Breuggers...but I can't. Toasted or not they have a great density and crisp ratio. I prefer non toasted. Good bagels and shmear (cream cheese) varieties. They could work on keeping stocked up though. I've gone in at the 8-9 am hour and they seem to have something I want, gone or not ready to be served. Caribou coffee is served here and what a great combination! They make their coffee just right and like any other CC. This place is always packed! Week day or week end. Come in early to get seating. Once it gets busy you can expect someone eye balling your seat once you stand up so they can snatch your spot. Environment is definitely loud. It is smaller square footage so expect to be seated closely to others and the coffee machine will overpower your convo with friends. I don't like the way the menu looks. I couldn't tell what I wanted at first glance. You know when you go into a regular Caribou you can easily find what drink you want??? Well I felt like this location's menu wasn't like that. I don't know why. Took me a few visits to get down the menu layout. The workers are fine. But my friends repeatedly say and I have read this place could be faster in service. The times I've been here have been fine for busy times. Nothing to complain about. read more

Came here for some coffee and was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff and the spacious nature of the cafe. This place reminds me of starbucks, but a better version. There is so much room to do work or just sit. The coffee here is amazing too! I enjoy trying the specialty drinks and the employee recommended the turtle mocha. You are able to choose the type of chocolate and I chose dark chocolate because of its richness. The drink itself was delicious. Will definitely be coming here again soon! read more

There are not a lot of places which serve coffee with good food in des moines. This caribou coffee and einstein bagels are actully great combo especially on bagel part of it. Suuuper Nova Lox bagel is Suuuper delicious the best of all of them on my taste. They got electric fireplace here not amazing of course but it still creates cozy warm atmosphere, very important in winter months. This was my first time at this establishment. I had honestly not heard much about it in the past but I was in West Des Moines and coffee and a bagel just sounded like it would hit the spot. I'm a long time fan of Caribou Coffee so this seemed like a good bet. Bagel sandwiches and I have a long time love affair but it's something limit. Today was an indulge day! The bagel sandwich was amazing! I got the farmhouse breakfast sandwich. The mix of meat and egg with the cream cheese was delish! It was definitely a positive experience and a sandwich I would recommend to anyone who loves bagel sandwiches! The server was funny and friendly and she made the experience good. The only negative and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the coffee. I ordered an iced caramel high rise, like I said it was an indulge day lol. I love me some caramel! But that's not what I got. I got a regular iced latte, no caramel. And I didn't realize it until I drove away. Also one of the reasons I love Caribou is the roast of the coffee. Horrible points system. Used to be 2 points for every dollar spent. Now has gone down to one for one, AND in addition, it costs more points to purchase products. For example, if you want a large frozen drink, it will cost 175 points (meaning you would have had to spend $175 to earn enough points to get this drink. Across the street at SCOOTERS they give 3 points for every dollar spent...even better product! read more

I am a regular here... Every time I arrive in the drive thru they remember my order and it is right each time... The bagels and bagel sandwiches are solid! The staff are second to none. My farmhouse breakfast sandwich was tasty but hastily thrown together which made it kind of a mess. The restaurant was doing a Brisk business with eat in and drive through customers. Well my day was made, today! Running the drive thru just now is a "Role Model Human" award-winner -- given by me! Long story short -- My son is napping in the car seat, I'm all out of cash, and I need to find a shady spot to park, and let my baby snooze... A coffee would be wonderful! Sooooo, I have a gift card for Caribou. There's no line in the drive-thru, I thought, no harm. I'll see if I can just go to the window and check the GC balance. Andrew over intercom, said to go ahead and order what I'd like, no worries, and we'll check the balance at the window. And, he asked, if I was a Perks member? I have no idea. So, he checks my phone number, and yes, I am! And, as a perks member, it's a 2 for $5 day which is an awesome deal! So, I think he means that if I order something, and get up there and there's no money on the card, the order will just go away, and so will I! However! When we pull up, Andrew says he's already paid for it for us. He wasn't even going to check the balance BECAUSE I'm sure, he didn't want to embarrass me! Well, I often insist that I do something embarrassing on a regular basis. So, after I thanked him, I insist he check my gift card balance, because, "Maybe I can pay for the person behind me?" You know, that thing. So, he looks at my card I'm holding out, "Are you sure? Okay." Survey sayyyyyyys: The balance is zero. And this, it turns out... is my Perks card. Well. Service is SO slow! Today I waited in the drive thru for 14 mins before I was even able to place an order and there were only 4 or 5 cars ahead of me where you place your order. Pulled in at 10:06 ordered at 10:20. Paid and got order at 10:35! When drive thru line gets so long people are blocking parked cars in lot trying to get out (or in to park). This is 2nd time the wait has been long! But 29 mins?!?!?! I understand being busy in the mornings, but then have enough employees on staff to provide good and efficient customer service. read more

Passing through Des Moines and exited to business section looking for coffee & snack. I knew what to expect at Caribou but not Einstein as the only one I knew on the U of M campus is a near disaster. I was pleasantly surprised at how these two establishments are married with a nice selection of large fresh bagels. Fresh coffee and an Apple Cinnamon bagel and I'm energized for another few hundred miles. Where to stand and order and then pick up is a bit awkward but more for the employees than the customer. There is not an efficient flow behind the counter which could slow things down on a busy day. The parking lot and traffic flow is tricky so be careful. read more

Me and my husband stopped in for a few quick drinks while we were out running errands. This is such a nice, and modern location with plenty of seating. The staff is super friendly and great at making recommendations! Due to some dietary restrictions, I asked if their smoothies were made with milk and the gal brought over the box of the mix to verify. I ended up getting a wonderful Mango tea and my husband got an iced campfire mocha. Drinks were delicious and were made very quickly! Overall it was a great experience!! read more

I have only been to this location 3 times now I can't give high enough praise to this location. I don't know the manager but the guy is literally fantastic. Every time (yes...all 3 times) I have been there he has come around later and asked me by name if everything tastes ok and if there is anything he can get for me. Literally a rock star manager! The other people I have had helping me have also been awesome! Arrived here disheveled after getting a call at my hotel at 6:20 to drive my stepdaughter to the airport. Stopped on the way back to the hotel and ordered two coffees and a bagel to go from Doug. They called my name and I picked up the bagel, but there was no coffee. I asked for the coffee so she poured two cups and set them out for me to take. l said, don't I get a bag or something? I came across this Caribou when the regular one I got to closed, which is disappointing. I did not order bagels only coffees so that is what my review is based on. The parking lot/drive up lane set up is horrible!! As I sat in the drive up lane as there was no where to park to go inside I watched car after car struggle to get backed out of their spot. Second for a drive up it was extremely slow. Third my biggest pet peeve is the drinks were made sloppy... No one bothered to wipe excess syrup etc off of the cup/lid so you end up with a glorious mess in your car and on your hands. Luckily I had napkins to clean it up myself as they were to busy to care. Stopped in for a quick toasted bagel to go at 8 AM on a Monday. I got behind a work group with about 5 people on one order so it took me about 5-6 minutes to get my relatively simple order. The drive through and counter were continuously busy but people were being greeted pretty efficiently. I did like the bagel - very fresh and toasted nicely. They had ample supplies of each of the bagels on hand when I was there, so there was a good selection. I'll have to try it again to see if the wait was normal or if I just got there behind the wrong group. Good overall. read more

Didn't have the best experience this AM. They were out of both bagels I was trying to order, which wasn't a big deal and ordered different ones. The french toast bagel I ended up getting tasted a little like french toast, but tasted like onions VERY strongly. It had clearly been contaminated with the mix from the everything bagel or something. The mocha I ordered was way too hot for some reason, this isn't normally a problem here but today it was. My order was also forgotten and took much longer than usual. :/ read more

I love the toasted blueberry bagel with butter and honey. This is the hot, new Jordan Creek West Des Moines location for coffee and bagels and breakfast sandwiches. There were 32 customers in line in the lobby waiting to order food at 9:05 AM on a Saturday morning. There were 15 cars waiting in drive up. This is a very popular coffee shop. read more
