I recently purchased an older Range Rover Sport Supercharged and naturally wanted to find the best mechanic to entrust with my new toy. After finding a recommendation in a Land Rover forum, I also looked over the reviews for 4x4 Land both here on Yelp and on Google, and found plenty of great reviews. I can easily see how 4x4 Land has earned their positive reputation, and I'd like to share why Pierre and his team at 4x4 Land are now my go-to mechanics for my Range Rover. I dropped off my Range Rover Sport last month because of a coolant leak. I brought my car to 4x4 Land and discussed the issue I had, and asked if there was any way they could go over the car to see if there were any other issues I needed to address. Pierre was able to send videos and an estimate the very next morning describing exactly where I had a coolant leak and what he needed to do to fix it. While he had my car on the lift, he also found that the shield that protects the fuel tank needed to be replaced. Once we reviewed the estimate, I accepted it and Pierre was able to order parts. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick turnaround, as I was expecting that it might take longer to source parts and work on my Rover. During our discussions, Pierre was able to answer every question I had, and I could tell that he cared about the quality of his work and the safety of my vehicle. He was able to quickly respond, and it was a pleasure working with him. As someone who's bought an older Rover, and knows the reputation that everyone has of them, it was imperative for me to find a good mechanic to take care of my Rover. My Defender needed an oil change. The first one since I got it. I didn't want to take it to the usual auto shop I took my BMW to, so I started looking around for a place that services Land Rovers. (I didnt' want to take it to the dealership either bc I know they were charging $450 for a basic oil change, and up to $600 for a package). I found 4x4 Land after looking into many shops that service European cars esp land rovers, and chose this place. Pierre was very prompt at replying to my inquiry, and very upfront and transparent. He was also very accommodating and was able to fit me in. I told him I needed to be on the road at a certain time and he made sure I was. I was especially impressed when he let me into the work area and showed me the undercarriage of my car, and explained to me the parts. Pierre and his team at 4x4 Land are true professionals. I've owned four Range Rovers and try to do as much of the maintenance and repairs myself but I know I did not want to deal with the timing chain job (preventative maintenance). I got another quote from an independent Land Rover shop very close to me in Alexandria, but their quote was over $10,000. Pierre quoted $6500 and a week's time over the phone, and that's what he delivered. They replaced the timing chain tensioners on my 2010 Range Rover Supercharged (AJ133 engine) using all Land rover parts. New chain, guides, tensioners, cam sprockets, water pump, front timing cover, and tons of coolant pipes, seals, and gaskets. The Rover runs quieter, smoother, and now I have peace of mind knowing that the engine won't jump time and grenade. Pierre was very responsive the whole time, and it was convenient being able to message him and get a text back almost immediately. I highly recommend 4x4 Land, I only wish I lived closer. read more

Pierre is fantastic. I purchased a "gut job" 2004 Disco at auction and brought it to him for an inspection and overhaul. From the moment I arrived Pierre was respectful, knowledgeable, full of great advice, and not pushy. He is also the best mechanic I have ever encountered as a female car enthusiast; he spoke to me, not my husband, and was not dismissive or condescending. The car was with him for a few months, and he communicated reliably throughout the process. As he discovered things that were not on the initial estimate he sent detailed videos and photographs along with competitive pricing for the repair. He also always left it up to me, and didn't make me feel forced to do anything. In the end all of his suggestions were solid and even though the total was a little more than I initially expected I felt I absolutely got my money's worth. The car just passed inspection and is driving extremely well. 4x4 land is a wonderfully run auto repair shop. The service is fantastic; the owners are honest and fair (and really nice guys too!). We have been using them for a couple of years now for an Audi TT and a Land Rover Discovery, cars that often require special parts, etc. 4x4 always comes through with quality work for a fair price. Made my first visit to 4x4 Land this week. I had previously serviced my 2011 Range Rover Sport SC at the local dealer since new. I'd never had an issue with the local Land Rover Dealer. But after reading the reviews on 4x4 Land, I decided to give them a try. It was a good comparison as I'd had the same proposed work done within the last twelve months at the local Land Rover dealer (air strut replacement). From the time I first spoke to him, too when I picked up the vehicle, Pierre showed himself to be a humble gentleman. I would surely have my wife take the car there herself and not worry about her being taken advantage of through extra work or overpricing. Pierre replaced the air strut and returned the vehicle ahead of the promised time. I informed him that my wife was taking a long trip, so he also checked the entire vehicle and test drove it to make sure that everything was OK. He informed me of potential FUTURE maintenance items, including a demonstration, but did not try to secure additional or unnecessary work. In summary, the work was done professionally, the price was HALF, @ over $1,000 in savings. I will be returning to 4x4 Land! read more

One of my rare 5-stars. If you need a repair shop that is giving you an honest assessment and actually helps you save money, go there. You will here words you thought were extinct from today's service landscape, like "you don't need this repair", "everything is fine, you can get your sticker right away", or "let me try adjust XYZ first, maybe you don't need a replacement." And the best thing is, they are working with adjacent body shops and inspection stations, which they hold to the same standards. You drop off the car, they take it to their partners. It's my understanding they can take care of any make and model, but they are specialized on Range Rover and Jeep, that's why I found them by accident (I have a Jeep). It is a little family-run shop in one of these barebone warehouse-settings with many small joints right off Rt 50 -- a hidden jewel. read more

First of all I want you to know that I'm a REAL CUSTOMER and I'm writing this review solely on the absolute WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE that I had as a first time customer. I own a Range Rover HSE Sport that started leaking coolant and making a loud clicking noise. I panic and didn't know what to do at that time. Of course I was afraid of the potential damage done to my truck and knowing the price tag would've OUTRAGEOUS at the dealer. I contacted this shop during non business hours , left a message. The owner Pierre contacted me less than one hour after my leaving a email and voicemail on a Sunday. Pierre was very HONEST with me , explaining from the description of my messages things didn't sound too good, However he instructed me not to drive the vehicle and told me to have it towed to the shop first thing Monday morning. Pierre was very empathetic but did not sugar coat anything . Upon inspections of the vehicle he contacted me and explained the issue. The price was AMAZING compared to the dealers and my vehicle was back on the road 3 days later! ( NO NOISE, NO LEAKS)., in addition Pierre pointed out a noticeable future repair that even I agreed that I noticed too. We scheduled that repair for the following week. Let me just say that this was one of the most STRESS FREE repair experiences that I've ever had owning a RANGE ROVER! We know that mechanics love to see us coming $$$$. . If you want honest, expert repairs done in a timely manner at a reasonable price, then come here. This shop has loyal LR owners from all over the east coast; one person drives from Florida to come here. It's hard to find true master LR mechanics outside of the dealership who aren't overcharging, and you know this shop is a threat when the dealers post signs saying they will beat 4x4 Land's prices (which they don't). Always a pleasant experience, and never had to wait. The owner goes out of his way to make sure customers leave happy. I only wish everything in life were this awesome. I needed to get my brakes replaced and my dealer's quote almost floored me -- in a bad way. I called 4x4 got a very quick estimate (which blew me away -- in a good way), scheduled the work, and it took just a few hours. LR3 in for some major work- a beauty emerges Just like those chasing the fountain of youth with a nip here, tuck there, some lipo and a lift....my 2005 LR3 with a 170k miles was in need of the same care. I stopped by 4x4Land to see the shop and meet Pierre and team. Felt very comfortable and saw their work, so decided to take the plunge. We knew some of the issues and needs, and had a few others pop up along the way. The work we did was mechanically- changed changed the plugs, timing chain and tune-up. We also replaced rear diff, replaced upper/lower control arms, replaced all bushings with poly, replaced front struts and suspension height sensors and wiring. During the work, found my rear drive shaft was toast. We also did brakes all around, HVAC actuator and replaced front light housing (had small moister ingress). Electrical work, fuses, burnt/shorts in fog lights...battery...you get the picture. Major work. Top it off, we put new rubber on the LR3 (Nitto TG G2s, this time going down in size to the 265, 60 18's). At the end of our stay with "Dr. Pierre" and team, I now have a LR3 that is good to go for another 75k-100k. Pierre and 4x4land source their parts at a competitive price and do not hit you up with unreasonable mark-ups, over inflated services like "indoor cabin/pollen filter" replacement charges. It is a small shop with many dedicated customers, so plan accordingly - our experience is that we can get in/services as soon as we need, but big jobs like my last one- will take time (a lot depends on supply chain issues!) Pierre and team communicates the progress of the job and are very thorough. I have definitely found a place I will continue to bring my LR and RR products to for service. BAD DIAGNOSTICS AND I WOULD SAY IT IS A SCAM TO SQUEEZE MORE $$$ 1. I came with a problem -- head gasket must be replaced: it was pointed by red light, smell, cooler disappearance, engine oil has different color -- everything as it is written @internet, other mechanics told me the same. 2. the owner said it is not the head gasket and he charged me ~$650.00 for insufficient problems: "pipes, but it was not easy to fix it, too much work" 3. I drove my car for 20 miles and the issue with head gasket appeared/raised again. 4. The owner, Pierre by name, offered me to repair the car for another $2,800.00 4. I told him that I visited him a couple of weeks before with the same problem. 5. He denied any negotiations. So, based on my observations and findings with my briefing, I would say: there is bad diagnostics, no very bad diagnostics, he scams customers to squeeze extra $$$, The shop doesn't engaged with customers to help them but ... again... to squeeze as much as possible. read more

Another great experience at 4x4 Land today!! Went to the dealership in Tysons last week and was told that I needed a new headlamp assembly on my 2010 LR2 with about 85k miles on it. The replacement estimate was almost $2k. It was great news after sitting there for almost 3 hours for an oil change and inspection. Immediately scheduled an appointment with Pierre. He looked at it today and showed me that the assembly was NOT plugged in. He plugged it in and everything is working in proper order. No issues. One would think the dealership would have noticed this and fixed it since the car was in their possession for hours. Not the case. Take your car to someone you can trust.
