5 of us stopped by on a Saturday at 11:30 to check out the place for an event we are having in June. The waitress was great but everything else was a disaster. It took more than an hour after we were seated to get our food. I got a Buffalo burger and water and it ended up being $26. The burger had absolutely no taste, A could of other's sandwich selection had bacon and the bacon was not cooked! We will not be back but glad we checked it out before we brought a group in. Appetizers were amazing. The main courses not so good. Chicken seemed boiled, tri tip smelled and tasted weird, and the pork chops had a sunny taste. The atmosphere and history were pretty cool. Super fun place with some history. We sat in the bar and visited with the very busy bartender. They follow the LA rules on COVID so bring your mask, believe me it's worth it and not a big deal anyway if you get great food and service. Was only going to have the steak salad and chicken sand. But a regular walked through and when he found out the soup was Cream of Mushroom he ordered a cup for dinner and a bowl to go. Of course we had to order a cup and we were not disappointed, this stuff is the best soup and you could put it on noodles, hash browns, baked potato or toast, oh man is it good. I can't believe I have lived in the antelope valley most of my life and have never tried this place, I have to say this is the definition of finding a gem the service was excellent and everyone was friendly, the food was so good and you could tell it was homemade. We moved here to Acton about 2 years ago...we've been here 4 times now...we wont be back for food! Appetizers didn't come out all at once...we ordered 2 mozzarella sticks and 2 fried pickles...we got 1 fried pickles and 1 mozzarella sticks...then 15 minutes later we got the other 2 five minutes apart of each other! Server asked if she could get us anything else...I ordered a 2nd beer...finally after 20 minutes of waiting for the beer I had ordered, I went to the bar and got my beer...no way to blame a busy restaurant...there were only 2 tables at that time! Our food started coming out...not all at once...my cousin got her steak around 10 minutes after the rest of us got our plates...our steaks were overcooked...we ordered med rare...we got med-med well...but with how slow the service was I didn't complain...I tried to eat the steak...couldn't do it, I ended up just throwing it in a togo box The fried apples stuck to the side of the cup (i literally had to chisel them out of the cup)...baked potato was good after we peeled the foil off of them and picked the little pieces of foil out of the potato...food was less that sub par!! Side salads were good and blue cheese dressing was very good! Chili was good...pork chops were not the greatest and had way too much garlic!!! Garlic was so overpowering we didn't even get a togo box for it! Black n blue burger was probably the best thing we ordered...not spectacular but it was cooked properly and tasted delicious!!! I don't know whats going on with this place...the first time we came here was for my birthday when we first moved here 2 years ago...It was awesome!!! So we've hit this place about every six months since we moved to Acton...every time we come here its just a bit worse than the last...its very unfortunate because we could walk here in 2 minutes from our home...but I just cant see myself paying the prices that this place charges and receiving food that is only so so and slow service I think that if we do come back to this place it will only be to have a few beers (but with their track record, I wonder how long it will take to get our second beer)...plus we could drive for 3 more minutes and go to Don Chato get better beer and free chips and salsa...so I dont know...not lookin very good for us going back to the 49er Very disappointing and unfortunate! read more

I came for an event they were having and decided to try the food again. This would be my second time I've been In here to order something other than dessert or a beer. The menu: I noticed they had a vegan burger so I figured why not. I wasn't pleased with it, it wasn't bad but it also wasn't good. I'm very picky on what I eat vegan wise. It looked and smelt like a real burger when it came out. I tried it and it tasted like a real burger, the last thing I want is to be eating a burger and having it taste like something I no longer eat. I also asked for no onions and they covered my burger with it. They were big enough to pick off but that's besides the point. I didn't end up eating it all, since I couldn't stomach a vegan patty tasting like meat. The fries were good though, with a bunch on my plate so that filled me up. After looking up the history of this tiny town and reading that this restaurant has been around since the 1800's I had to try it out. The atmosphere is nice with a rustic saloon decor. The service was great. The owner is really nice. The potato skins were really good. The jalapeño cheese sticks are huge and very good. The elk sausage was also really good. I would suggest asking for marinara sauce for the cheese sticks and the sausage. I warmed up some chunky preggo sauce. It took it from good to amazing! The tri tip was good also. I would suggest a quick dip of the meat in the bbq sauce and maybe adding some bbq sauce on the side instead of drenching it In barbecue sauce. Overall, I would suggest this restaurant read more

It's a little western bar/restaurant that serves fresh homemade comfort food & cocktails. I love the dining area that has large cozy booths and the service is always top notch. I guess I hear the word "saloon" and I immediate assume that means the establishment will take on the look and vibe of a western saloon, especially if "49er" is also in the name of the restaurant. Great hidden gem that has amazing service and equally amazing food! Started with a spin on fried corn nuggets and as you can tell from the picture-they were a hit! ( I may have eaten the majority of them). Early dinner at 3:30 and we enjoyed their patio seating which was small and very quiet. I'm more then excited to come back and try their bread budding and a few other tasty menu items. Rochelle was our waitress and she is a whole mood and so warm and inviting! You'll love her! My husband and I came in for the first time a little over a month ago. We had a couple of beers and burgers. Cecilia was our server and she was wonderful! The beer was actually cold enough and the burgers were huge and delicious. I don't normally like onion rings but the onion rings they put on the burgers are amazing! I prefer thinner cut fries but I still ate most of my fries because they were perfectly done. We both took home half of our burger and it was still delicious as leftovers! I brought my Mama in for lunch a couple of weeks later on Mothers Day. We had Rachelle as our server that day. She is super attentive, energetic, and very enthusiastic! In all, we had the jalapeño mozzarella cheese sticks, chicken tenders, stuffed potato skins, onion rings, fried apples, french fries, Prospector Pete's pork chops with mashed potatoes. All in all, way too much food for 2 people! The mozzarella cheese sticks are like no other! They're huge, made from fresh cheese and jalapeños, wrapped in wonton wrappers - absolutely the best fried cheese EVER! The potato skins were crispy on the bottom and fluffy inside, exactly how I like them - also the bacon was super high quality. The fried apples tasted like slow simmered, home made caramel only better! The pork chops are cooked in a mushroom, garlic, butter, who knows what else sauce?! I would pay big money for that sauce recipe! They were tender, flavorful, juicy, just awesome in every way! The chef came out to talk with us, I think his name is Larry (but I'm crap at remembering names) and he was super cool to meet and talk with. I really look forward to sitting at the bar and getting to know everybody after COVID restrictions are lifted! Food delicious but very pricey. Wife and I don't longer visit due to an incident that happened last year. We were in there having a drink at the bar a regular customer came in and the owner pretty much chewed him out in front of all of us. Something to do with having to wear a mask or not wear a mask, but she shouldn't have done that in front of other customers. read more

Stopped into the 49er Saloon on the recommendation of a friend. And we were not disappointed. We were lucky with a beautiful April afternoon and were able to eat outside. We shared a tri-tip sandwich and the appetizer sized onion rings. Both were great. The bartender was personable and possessed a good sense of give-and-take humor. Keep in mind that this is not "fine dining" and that our 5-star rating was versus other saloons of similar nature. We will definitely stop here again for food and drinks and hopefully bring some friends next time. read more

A cute little restaurant with good food. It's not far from the highway and the food came out quick so makes a nice stop on a road trip.
