Amazing restaurant with unbelievable food! Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a special night out while in Canmore. We did the Chefs choice tasting menu and everything was amazing. They were able to easily make changes for dietary restrictions and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Easily one of the best tasting menus I have ever had for the best value as well. For four of us, they brought out 10 courses + an amuse-bouche, and we each got a cocktail as well. Highlights: - Tempura shrimp - Pork belly: fruit flavor mixed with an excellent spicy powder - Scallops - Burrata and pears - Soft eggs and caviar - Mashed potatoes with corn and truffle - Veggie crab wrap I didn't personally love every dish (for example, the halloumi didn't impress, a chateaubriand is always fairly flavorless - not the fault of the kitchen, and while it was funny, I thought the chex mix felt like a gimmick), but to have 7 courses be excellent is incredibly impressive. Drinks are great, but tasting the truffle mashed potatoes with corn made me forget all about my cocktail because some of the cocktails were really just THAT good. Thank you for a lovely dinner!

I've been back in the states for a few weeks and I'm still thinking of my dining experience. While on a girls trip, we came in and sat at the bar for the vegan tasting menu. Immediately we were met with warm welcomes, an incredible ambiance, and smells of delicious food. The service was impeccable, but not in a snooty, rigid way, it was relaxed, and personable with dishes showcasing the chefs skills and local ingredients. As someone who works in the Industry and has eaten all over the world, 4296 is easily one of the best meals I've ever eaten. We were beside ourselves by the end of the meal haha! I will dream of this place for years to come, and I hope to be back to eat 50 crab rolls and a dozen cornbreads.

This was by far our favorite restaurant during our visit to Canmore/Banff/Calgary. Hats off to the chef! We ate here 2 nights in a row and stuffed our faces until it hurt. Eggs, peach dish, ceviche, shrimp, and desserts exceeded our expectations. Price is on the high end but it was worth the splurge. The music was great too, oldies but goodies for the 40+ folks.

4296 (Altitude of Canmore) and just below the Three Sisters is the BEST experience ever! OMG, it was all RESERVED but the staff just made a home for us in a special hidden & private ROOM. The food comes out perfect & ready to devour!! Georgia on my mind! Her drinks were to the max! Try everything!!!! Spent 3 hours raving & went back to Texas still raving! A++++++

This was a really cool restaurant, a friend recommended it. Very small and intimate. The server was engaging and helpful with explaining the menu as we were very confused. We tried a variety of different things, it was good.

What an unexpected surprise 4296 was. Just the pure thought in taking the time to put together a progressive, 10 course vegetarian tasting menu that was so creative and so far from the standard "cauliflower steak" was pure brilliance. We didn't have one dish that we didn't absolutely love. Our waitress was great, she was knowledgeable and knew about every dish as well as what the ingredients were. The restaurant itself was trendy, but very low key. Would definitely go back!

4296 is the elevation level of this restaurant in Canmore and boy does it delivers culinary elevation in each of their dishes! I would easily repeat all of these on the next visit: 1) Caramel and chocolate verraine -chocolate mousse & ganache dessert 2) Spicy tuna tataki with yuzu pearls! 3) Candied pork belly 4) Hokkaido scallops

Got the tasting menu ($128 CAN) which was overall quite good, and came with 8 dishes. Some standouts were the crispy egg with caviar and the steak dish, which was so tender and perfectly cooked. The steak tartare was also very good and got a lot of the flavors down. Overall though I felt like the portion sizes were too large (we were both overstuffed by the end) and some of the dishes were on the heavy side. It felt like there was a lot of salt, sauce, and oil - for example, in the pork belly in char siu sauce and in the bread dish with burrata and peaches. I get that some oil is needed, but it felt pretty heavy at times. There was also some strong spiciness in some of the dishes. Service quality also dropped off at the end and we waited a while for our last two courses to come out, mainly because our server was spending a lot of time chatting with the people at the table next to us, to the point where the bartender had to go in to get some of the food. Next time would recommend the a la carte instead of the tasting menu for better portion control.

Everything about this place is amazing. The food was so tasty and unique. The service was outstanding the place is small, quaint and romantic. Be sure to reserve a table. They also have a speakeasy which requires a separate reservation. Instructions are on the website.

Cute and hip little spot with friendly servers. We really appreciated the creativities and thoughts put into these dishes and drinks. They're definitely somewhat unique for a small town like Canmore but most flavors just weren't it for us. From the ingredients of the drinks to the food, they were very extravagant (lots of truffles) though the final products looked better than they tasted. Still, the table's favorite was the Chateaubriand (steak!) followed by the spring rolls. The steak was beautifully cooked and being immersed in brown butter was a great idea. We (4) went with the $115 chef choice and maybe we should have done a la cart instead. DESSERTS? The two desserts served might have brought this review to a 2 stars but let's be nice. Again, extravagant looking yet we couldn't taken more than 2 bites.

Staying in Canmore for a week of hiking over in Banff, I was not expecting to have such a memorable and delicious meal at 4296! We opted for the vegan tasting, which was clever, surprising, and, notable for a tasting, filling! There were 9-ish courses including: - vegan amusebouche with vegan caviar atop a rice cracker - sesame cucumber radish salad - vegan crab hand rolls with a tamari glaze - chips with vegan aioli, caviar, vegan egg, and vegan butter - fried maitake mushrooms with pickles and aioli - rainbow vegan poke with vegan tuna and vegan salmon - fried chick'n tenders with macadamia nuts and pineapple - a handroll and mac salad combo - a raspberry chocolate shelled mousse with matcha and mint Favorites were the fried maitake mushrooms, the poke, the chicken tenders and the raspberry dessert! I appreciated the wide range of flavors, the way the chef was playing with textures and pops of spices, and the dazzling array of colors. Service was incredible, everything came out fast and fresh. Loved it, would recommend!

I haven't have so much fun during a meal ever! I did the vegetarian tasting menu and every dish was a delightful experience! Drinks are unique, yummy, and the presentation was a 12/10! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a unique dinning experience. I was soooooooo full at the end so make sure to pace yourself. 100% recommend the hot honey chick'n and the peach burrata if you're just going for a meal! Enjoy!

The menu is creative, and the chef uses local and wild ingredients in both the food and drinks. Everything is beautifully plated and you can tell they pay attention to details. The other courses, including the fish and bison with mushrooms, did not have dairy. Sadly, while the food was aesthetic, I have had much better dairy-free food in both Canada and the States. The bison was the only dish that tasted tender and savory to me. The fish did not taste as fresh to me, and the vegan bread was quite inedible, shaped like a rounded brick and tasting like one too. When I asked if there were any other dairy-free bread options, they said no. I hoped the dairy-free dessert would be something unique, but it was another vegan bread brick with jam and a dairy-free ice cream that tasted like freezer ice and sadness. My boyfriend also found his dessert bland. The waiter said there were no other dairy-free dessert options and recommended a drink, which was solid. The two stars are for the cozy, romantic vibes, the lovely Canadian Rockies view, the tender bison, the good drink, and the kind servers. All in all, I sadly would not come back, as only one course and a drink we liked for the price of the prefix was not worth it, especially for our anniversary.

He and the excellent Chicago hot wings make Fergus & Bix worth more than one late night Happy Hour visit. The wings are marinaded, fried, dipped then baked - perfect. I'm a little beer snobby, but my spouse says the in-house Wooden Ship beers are good. Great place to watch sports too. Lots of TVs but not too intrusive if you're not interested. Ambiance is warm and relaxed. Happy Hour offers some nice choices, and is twice per day every day as is the norm in this tourist town. Definitely recommended for folks who want a pleasant adult atmosphere. You also avoid excessively intoxicated and rowdy revellers. They're over at the corner of Rose & Crown and Drake.

Upon arrival, we were provided with a liquor menu but not a full food menu, and were directed to order from the happy hour menu. This created a bit of confusion at first, but we made the best of it. We ordered the Beer Board, which included a selection of sausages, Italian meats, cheeses, and pretzel bread. It was well put together, with good variety and satisfying portions--great for a late-night bite. Overall, while the experience wasn't exceptional, it was a decent stop considering the circumstances. It served its purpose and provided a solid option when not much else was available. That said, the bar itself is pretty decent. Carries some ambiance --perhaps a place you'd hang out for a few drinks.
