So, me and a friend drove all the way down from the Santa Clarita area to get this food and to support this business. I've first went to this business maybe about 3 years ago when it was off of Crenshaw Blvd and Rosecrans Ave in a little shopping center. I tell you the food was amazingly delicious! The shrimp were way salty and over cooked. The crab did have a crack to it but there was no meat inside of it. The sausages tasted like hot dogs. It didn't even taste like real meat. The potatoes were soft and soggy. They were definitely old and not fresh. Almost had the consistency of wet napkins. They must have changed the rice because the rice I received was disgusting! The rice used to be Cajun style, now it's just cheap fake dry white rice. The corn on the cob was old and overcooked. I ate some of the tasteless crab but I wound up throwing the entire meal into the trash. I just couldn't do it anymore. UPDATE: They refuted my credit card claim! First off, I never got the food and I NEVER got a refund! They claimed they never got my order but yet have no problem taking my money and having the audacity to refute the claim. Please people be careful! Shady business practices. Read below of what they did to others: adding tip money to tabs without asking, extra charges and not providing refunds, and credit card system failure. When is enough enough? -- Like many people that found this place it was through social media, and in my case it was because of TikTok. I am all about supporting small businesses especially black owned businesses. During times like these, Restaurants are trying ways to succeed and I had that in mind when I wrote this. My experience was exceptionally bad that warranted this review to help them and others. I've ordered pickup at other small businesses too to compare, but this was bad, really bad. Because of COVID I do not travel unless for essentials, and I thought this place would be a great place for a celebratory dinner pickup. It was going to be a special treat since I was going to drive up from Irvine to Carson! After reading the reviews, I already had an expectation that customer service was lacking, but to what extent I would soon find out myself. I came here to pickup an order my husband had ordered online, it was the $145 double up pan. I came with my three month old and my 7 year old son in tow. Total travel time: 4 hours including wait time. I never got my food, here's why: 1. COVID regulation fail- while most people were in masks, the line extended around the establishment with people in line not six feet apart and with more than twenty people in the restaurant. The restaurant is small. No one was mandating the line simply because they did not have enough staff. I do not recall a wipe down after every customer either. Please be careful. 2. There was no distinct pickup or order line. People were so upset they waited in the restaurant for their name to be called, with some waiting two hours!! The restaurant became more packed when more people would come in around the time they were supposed to pick up their order and they too would have to wait another hour after arriving at their pickup time! 3. Online system failed. My order went through but according to them it never went through. I showed them emails as well as the notification for pickup. They said they would check on it and an hour lapsed and nothing. Mind you I've been waiting already three hours with everyone. 4. Customer service fail. No apology. No refund. I never got my food. Never got a response so I drove back to Irvine. I would deal with a refund through the credit card company versus trying to get a response from them. And yes, I was charged even though they claimed it did not go through. The failure of the place was due to not having enough people in place and a system that worked. They underestimated their popularity but that would soon change when more people complain and reviews are in place. Tiktok's algorithm will fade and IG too. They need to get a better system in place if they want to truly succeed. While the food looked delicious, I don't know what it tasted like, but what I do know is that customer service is key to a successful business and with a failed execution they will never perform optimally. Also if you are waiting in line too long, I highly recommend going elsewhere. Not worth the drive, time and money. Save yourself. If you read other reviews from past customers they've all mentioned the same thing about the long wait.... and some of these were from 8 months ago. So the girl in the back came up and said it will be another 5 minutes. So my food comes out at like 2:45 y'all! That's almost two hours from when I originally placed it !!! At this point I'm starving and I'm mad. I paid for three plates , one for my grandma, mom and myself , that came out to $85. $85! For almost a two hour wait ?!?! I went to the newest location at 675 University, Carson (used to be PJ's Grill). Was there when it opened at 11 AM and placed my order. Because of the quarantine, they only take in person orders. No online or call in orders. Unfortunately, they don't seem ready to handle orders yet. Maybe it's because of the quarantine or the new location, but it took over an hour for me to get my order a d I was the second personin line. I wanted extra sauce but they were not selling extra sauce. So if you can overlook the long wait and no extra sauce, you will be happy. The food is delicious and you get amazing portions. Went down to try this place after seeing a them on a local t.v. show and following them on IG. The food looked delicious so took the drive down on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered online with no issues. I ordered the lobster, crab, & shrimp. It came with corn on the cob all on a bed of rice with slices of chicken sausage and potatoes in it. I also ordered a side of their special sauce. The lobster tail was fairly sized and not bad, but nothing special. The crab legs were medium sized and good quality and taste. Shrimp were nicely done, not overcooked and good flavor. The rice was really good, nice and fluffy. The corn was flavorless and seemed to be overcooked or re-warmed. The chicken sausage had a slight spice to it but not much flavor. The consistency was like one of those vegetarian sausages. The potatoes in the rice were nicely done. The most disappointing part was the sauce. It was so incredibly salty. So salty it was inedible.
