After having dinner there earlier in the week, we came back for seconds! It just keeps on getting better and better! We had several appetizers; the red shrimp and crab appetizer was spectacular, as was the calamari. Then we had the caprese salad and house salad. Tasty and a good portion. For our entrees, we had the grouper with crab, the petite filet and the veal with crab and bernaisse sauce. Everything was delicious; especially the filet was perfectly cooked! Dessert included fruit with cream; cannoli and chocolate mousse cake. We had a Sauvignon Blanc that was perfectly chilled and tasty. The best however was the staff! Friendly, informative, knowledgeable, just all around kind and nice. We want to go back again before our vacation is over. If you are in the neighborhood, give this place a try! My wife and I noticed this place and looking at the menu we decided to make reservations for our anniversary. We arrived and the owner led us to our table. He went over the wine list with us. He recommended us a great bottle of Cade Cab. For a starter we shared shrimp and crab cocktail. It had 3 red shrimp and lumps of crab. It had a spicy cocktail sauce and melted butter. The my wife had a wedge salad and I had a ceasar. They were as expected and came out quick. Then the entrees came. My wife had blue crab encrusted trigger fish and I had a Ribeye. The fish looked to be a Risotto with cooked carrots. It was cooked right but wasn't really memorable. I had the Ribeye. It was cooked perfect on a plate of mashed potato and carrots. The steak had great flavor, but it was not a good quality steak. It was really hard to cut. The service was just ok. I guess my expectations were placed high. If there's room at the bar you can sit, meet new people and enjoy some of the best food around the Hammock. Very quaint place. Right along A1A. They have done a nice job setting a great casual atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was terrific. My wife and I had the baked Brie, which was very well made. Caesar salads were great, maybe a little bit small but tasty homemade dressing. My wife had the flounder/crab combo and loved it. I had the chicken cordon blue, which was terrific. We pulled up and immediately thought this was a mistake. The building sure did fool us! When we got inside we were greeted by the owner himself who serviced our table. He was so descriptive on all the menu items! This was BY FAR, the BEST food I have ever consumed on a vacation. We got the steak and crab stuffed flounder, the calamari and the escargot. When I tell you the calamari was fried to perfection in the lightest batter. The handmade aioli complimented it so well! My husband literally got up to shake to cooks hand. It was AMAZING. Unbelievably bad experience. This was our second time there. The first time, a year ago,was mediocre. We decided to give it another try tonight, Prime Rib night. JUST AWFUL. Crowded and noisy. 386 is a mediocre restaurant with pretentions of fine dining and few bright spots. We stopped in late-ish on a Saturday night for dinner, around 9pm. The restaurant was half-full with people mostly finishing their dinners and there were a few patrons at the bar. We were promptly seated and our server took our drink order right away as we perused the menu. My first inclination that something was off was the serving tray sitting on a stand, in plain sight in the middle of the dining room, full of dirty dishes. I thought that maybe they were momentarily too busy to bus the dishes back to the dish pit, but my unease only grew as they continued to pile dirty glasses and dishes full of uneaten food on the tray for the entire duration of our meal. It was gross and really unappetizing. As far as the food, we started with their octopus in a puttanesca sauce. The thing about octopus is that it needs to be cooked either hot and fast, or long and low to be tender. In between, you get rubbery octopus, which is what we were served. One thing not mentioned in the description of the dish was that half of the seafood in this appetizer was calamari. Octopus isn't cheap and if I'm paying a premium for a starter, I want octopus, not calamari. Luckily, the squid was a lot more tender and more enjoyable to eat. The puttanesca sauce was actually delicious, and we enjoyed dipping the crostini it came with into the sauce more than the seafood contained within. After, we were served a basket of bread that was half-baked. The insides were gummy and doughy, and the olive oil and balsamic dip they serve it with couldn't salvage it. For our entrees, I ordered black grouper with a lobster cream sauce over a shrimp risotto. My wife ordered shrimp-stuffed flounder. The best part of the entire meal was the fish; expertly cooked, flaky, moist, and delicious. The risotto under which the fish was served may as well have been wallpaper paste, it was so gluey and overcooked. For as good as my fish was, the bite of my wife's flounder was even better and I immediately wished I had ordered that instead. There was a guy who I imagine is either the owner or the FOH manager ambling around during our meal, who checked in on us a few times. I appreciate the attention paid to our experience, but the level of "fancy" to which this restaurant aspires was completely at odds with how he was dressed. I don't think it's particularly fair to judge a restaurant by the dress of its employees, but as a manager you should be leading by example. Cargo shorts, a polo shirt, and Nike running shoes isn't exactly dressing to impress. I can almost guarantee he has a closet full of Affliction or Monster Energy t-shirts at home. He was nice enough, I guess. This was our second visit to 386, having tried it for the first time about a year ago. I had hoped it'd be a better one this time, but it wasn't to be. This used to be one of our favorite places to go for dinner whenever we visit Palm Coast. When we finally made it back to Palm Coast we immediately made a reservation to go there. Unfortunately, the food was not what we expected - perhaps the establishment was cutting corners? With every protein, you either have a choice of risotto or mashed potatoes. The vegetable on our plates were a few cut carrots. The tuna steak my sister ordered was already sliced thinly - 6 thinly sliced pieces! Having passed by here on our morning run for the past five visits, my wife and I had always wanted to try it but never pulled the trigger. This year we decided to give it a shot on our anniversary. I called ahead and talked to Frank the owner who said that he had room for us. Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly by Frank himself who promptly seated us and told us briefly about the menu. We started with the appetizer of escargot, which was new to us but we gave it a go. The butter and garlic mixed perfectly with the tender meat. We would definitely try it again. We also ordered the French onion soup, which was the perfect combination of tastes and texture. Our entrees included the filet mignon and lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning and paired perfectly with fresh carrots and potatoes. The ambiance and overall feeling made this spot a definite success. We had a great experience and will definitely return in future trips. As we left, we were again greeted by Frank, who made sure everything was up to our standards. This place is terrific. From the outside it may look like a seafood shack but once inside the food is outstanding. Their steaks are all prime meat and reasonably priced. The meat melts in your mouth. We also had the Alaskan King Crab in oil and garlic over pasta. Terrific! We also had desserts including a very light limoncello cake. So good we are trying to go again before we leave this area. My wife and I visited 386 a week before hurricane Ian. We both had crabcakes, salad, flounder with risotto. Crabcakes were good, salad was fresh, vegtables were tasty. The flounder and risotto were very very good. The Risotto was so very delicous.- I've thought about it weeks later. Many times. The wine - buyer beware - we bought a bottle of Messenger for 80...it really did not taste very good. Frank assured us it would open up as it needed to breathe. LOL - no - 20$ wine tasted exactly like 20$ wine. Everything else was truly outstanding. Our server was attentive, well timed, not intrusive. Our food came out fast and hot. Great presentation. Have enjoyed 386 in the past but our recent experience was terrible. We were excited to go sit at the bar and have wine and appetizers. The Brie was amazing, salad disappointing and the chicken piccata disappointing also. The bartender was wonderful and so were the people we met there. The owner was the show and not a good one. He was throwing menus in the service station and was not at all nice to customers or staff. Regulars at the bar informed us that this was a good mood for him. This is supported to be a high end restaurant but besides the bartender and regulars the experience and food was not worth the money. He was loud and obnoxious and made his presence known at every table in the place only serving to complicate the process. This used to be an excellent restaurant,better than anything in the hammock,even the Hammock Beach resort. Went there recently for the 1st time in several years, because they changed the menu to basically to Italian. The menu changed again fairly recently. It was usually packed,this summer weekend it was almost empty. Only one waiter,who said, "He was the celebrity chef." He was definitely not a waiter, terrible service. Food was the worst I've had in years. The crab encrusted flounder could have been tilapia, because it had so much sauce covering it,you couldn't taste anything. The only vegetable was under cooked sliced carrots. It was unedible . The triggerfish was just as bad. Went for the veal chop originally,but they had sold out. Waiter said, "When people know it's a special,they order it to go. They pay more,so we always sell out???" That makes no sense at all. All in all, what was once a five star restaurant is now awful! If the place was so empty why didn't they seat people further apart. Not on top of us. They were so close that the one woman started talking to us at our table. Ugh.
