This is the place to get a great breakfast or lunch. I'm super impressed with their sandwiches and if the sandwiches are awesome then you know everything on the menu is outstanding. I also feel the service is as impressive as the food. The ambiance is very friendly with many diverse customers. It's a very unique establishment which seems to care about their customers. Disappointed.. Ordered a Reuben. Most places, a Reuben comes with a mound of Corned beef. - These guys give you two thin slices - The overwhelming flavor of the sandwich is the sauerkraut. They should market it as a greasy sauerkraut sandwich with a corned beef garnish! I forget the price... something between $9 and $11. If you want fries, you pay extra. So then I tried the plain bagel to see if it would be any better, which makes very little sense and I was disappointed. Another thing that happened here--and seems to happen in this area--is the lady at counter looked upset that I didn't leave a tip. Sorry, I don't leave tips for counter service, and I never will. Absolutely best bagel in Palm Coast. Coffee is great also. Table service is available. The ambiance was nice. I seen the post about bad service, however, I have to say that I found the service to be very good. I was here for breakfast and I am a big fan of bagels, so that is what I went with. Prices were fair and a bagel is good. Dare I say, very good. They are located in a strip Plaza and our next to a pizzeria and a Chinese restaurant. Kind of a trifecta of good meals to select. I did find it kind of funny that these restaurants were next to a Planet Fitness. I guess after a hard workout, you can go into one of these restaurants and make up for all the calories you burned. The Sub Base & Bagel Place is a smaller establishment and it is simply furnished and decorated. Ambiance is definitely not as strong suit. However, in a place like this, if it was a little bit more fancy, it would feel out of place somehow. I definitely recommend here. Check them out. read more

My husband and I are longtime customers and expected some changes when the ownership changed. However, the new owners have made choices that impact the good quality food that this restaurant used to serve. We stopped in for lunch and sat outside. My sandwich is a go to I have been ordering for years. This time it had 2 pieces of ham which you couldn't taste because they were so small compared to the croissant. We split a basket of fries which was about 1/2 of what we usually get and they were very greasy. While we understand that the price of things has gotten crazy cutting corners doesn't make a ton of sense when the end result is lower quality. We are so sad to have to find a new regular breakfast and lunch place. With rising prices it is becoming more and more important to maintain loyal customers. read more

I went in for my first time recently and was very pleased by my experience. At my first step in the restaurant I was greeted and delighted by the sight and aroma of the fresh bagels. The service was great as the staff was kind and welcoming as I took a while being my first time ordering. I got, "The Double Play". It was some of the best breakfast I have had in a long time. The food was magnificent to say the least. I got blueberry pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and finally with the home fries. It was an excellent mix of sweet and savory. I really enjoyed the pancakes as they were so fluffy and filling by. I also enjoyed the eggs as I did not expect them to be as good as they were. Very rude, terrible service. The entire staff goes out of their way to make you feel unwelcome. You're not able to order a dozen bagels without a day+ notice because "they don't know how busy they'll be". Wouldn't you rather sell out of bagels early then throw out unsold bagels at the end of the day? That business model makes no sense. You're catering to potential customers you might have later in the day vs. the real, actual customer in front of you at the moment. Will never be back, taking our business elsewhere. They sell out of bagels every day. I called early in the morning to make sure they have bagels, and to hold them. No problem I'm told. Tell them I'll be up before they close to pick them up. Again, no problem. I offered to pay for them over the phone. Not needed I'm told. Well....... And sure enough, they sold them before I could get there. S%+#. No bagels. I had heard so many good things about this place and decided to try it today. I got an Italian sub that was so good, I'd prefer it over a publix sub! There are even "placemats" and crayons so bring your kids! I do see that there are several 1 star reviews regarding service and I have to say that I completely disagree. I would not recommend this place. I will be fair in my review and give the good, the bad, and the ugly. We ate there this weekend at the tail end of the lunch crowd. Everyone had their meals when we got in, and the place pretty much emptied out by the time we got our food. The GOOD: my g/f had the philly cheese steak and said it was good. My son ate half of eat and said it was the best philly cheese steak he has had in a while. The BAD: I have been craving some form of pastrami or corned beef up her in Palm Coast for awhile, and that was the main reason we ate here today. Unfortunately, the Reuben I had was plain awful. The corned beef was like eating dried up leather, it was really that bad. The UGLY: the reason why my son ate half my g/f's meal was because we had to wait forever for his chicken fingers. As I said before, the place was emptying, so the cook should never have been backed up. We think they forgot his order. The service here is the UGLY part. We witnessed a table of six sit down outside and they came inside to inform the staff that they will be sitting outside. We witnessed them waiting over 15 minutes before deciding to depart. Not one server went outside to get their order. I don't blame them for leaving, the place was empty. How do you let a six-person table just up and leave due to your poor service? Wow wow just had a horrible experience here. We have been going here regularly since we moved over 6 years When my husband when in today to get egg sandwiches the cook called him a mother f*cker because we order two eggs instead of one on our sandwiches and we order two. We are very friendly with the girls at the door. She said yeah he is a bitter a**hole and don't worry about it, sorry I am worried about it he is touching my food. Well maybe he shouldn't be touching people food if you know that about him!!! We had notice the last few times we went the egg were so over cooked they were like rubber. If I could give negative stars I would. Just left the Sub Base & Bagel Place where the food was horrendous. I ordered a Belgian waffle. When I tried to cut into it, it was very tough!!! Ordered an onion bagel toasted with cream cheese to go. Best bagel I have had in a very long time and the cream cheese was delicious. An unassuming shop, limited bagel selection. As for customer service...well...to me it seemed she has worked there forever? No smile, no "Welcome in", She knew I was there, but I didn't even know she was there til I turned the corner and saw her as she asked, Can I help you? No, hi how are you today?!
