Fortunately, I did not provide them with the access code to claim the funds when they asked me to do it (a word of advice to fellow bike-to-work scheme users: NEVER share the code with this guys unless you confirm the bike's availability in the store). I was told that the bike would be ready in a week and paid a €50 deposit, which was supposed to be refunded once I shared the access code. Advice to other customers: I would never trust again their word about "having the bike in the warehouse", but if you still do and pay the deposit, ask for a receipt the moment you pay it. I did it, and they said they'd send it by email. That email never got to my inbox, so now I can't claim anything) Fast forward two months, and I found myself making countless calls and receiving nothing but false promises. Each time I inquired about the bike, they assured me that they had contacted the warehouse and guaranteed the bike's availability within the next two weeks. However, when those two weeks passed, I called again, only to be presented with yet another excuse, prolonging my wait by an additional two weeks. Frustrated by their lack of transparency and poor service, I decided to cancel my order and requested a refund of my deposit. They instructed me to "contact their orders department via email." Despite my numerous attempts to reach out and request the return of my deposit, they have remained unresponsive. It's disappointing to feel that my €50 deposit has been completely disregarded. I'd avise others to be cautious when dealing with this store.

Expecting to get calls over weekend saying this and that is wrong or you need a new chain etc etc i was suprised that when i took delievery all bike needed was a good old service by a compenant bike professional.All sweet..bike going life new and they didnt break the bank. He sized me up and asked me about my plans, picked a great Giant road bike to use, gave me great advice about my destinations. I even randomly met up with him the next day riding in Phoenix Park! Paul's enthusiasm is seemingly without bounds; it's worth renting a bike to meet Paul! The bike was perfect too, I should add.

A very generous fellow student gave hers to me, since she is busy with study, her family, and career, and doesn't find time to ride often. It needed just a bit of TLC, though. I haven't had much luck with the bicycle shop in the center of Ranelagh, and so I tried Think Bike. The service was excellent, and so was the pricing. I asked for a new font basket, a new seat, u-lock, air in the tires, and a general check overall. For all of this, plus installation of things that I bought, I was only charged 80 euros, which seems like a fantastic deal to me. The repair shop folks are very professional and quick, and they will even send a text message to let customers know when bicycles are ready to pick up. The retail shop offers new bicycles (and the occasional used bike - you need to call and ask daily to see what they might have, if anything), accessories, and even a limited range of clothing. Since it was my first time bringing in a bike, I didn't understand the process. I told the person in the retail shop what I wanted to have done for the bicycle, and he sent me up to the repair shop, which is a block up. Once there, I was told that, actually, I needed to go back down to select the basket and lock, and then come back again. Not a big problem, of course, but it was all a little confusing. When the deadline for when I was told my bicycle would be ready was approaching (and I needed to take care of other errands), I used the number that I found on the web to call Think Bike. Again, it was a bit confusing. I knew, from reading about them on the web, that Think Bike offers training workshops, and so when I spoke with someone on the phone and he asked whether I was calling about the "work shop," I thought he meant a "workshop." I went to the repair shop, but it was 2pm and closed for lunch. Bad luck on my part, I guess. A person in the retail shop helped by providing the direct line to the repair shop. All confusion aside, I can't fault the bicycle service nor the pricing. The men in the repair shop were also friendly and helpful. Best of all, the bicycle is in perfect order now, and I wouldn't hesitate a moment to go back to Think Bike. Especially since I now know the lingo and procedure!

I ride everywhere, barring some nights I know are going to be wild and I don't feel like killing myself in a drunk-biking accident. You can get a DUI for operating a bike while intoxicated you know. Since moving to Ireland, I have been dreaming of the day I find the perfect bike to zoom around the city on. Until that day comes, I like to dreamily wander through Penny Farthing, checking out the merch. They have a bike to suit all types, from retro-y contraptions with baskets on the front, to rugged mountain bikes, to my personal love, road bikes. The prices are high though, and it doesn't seem like they have too many budget options, which saddens me a great deal. Still, if you have several hundred euros to throw at a bike, Penny Farthing is a great place to check out. And if you do buy a bike and the seat gets stolen or a car hits it and bends the wheel to bits, they can repair anything in a flash. The staff is really helpful and asked all my questions even though I said I wasn't going to buy anything (I have a habit of saying shit like that for no reason).

On the other hand the quality of the bicycles is good and the service for selling them is spot on!. I got a really good advice for the three bicycles i bought for my kids and I am very happy with what I ended up with. I went to check out few places and prices and the decision for Cycleways was with no doubt. Safety before anything was the first advice which the other places didn't have, a bit more expensive maybe but for your self, wife or your children safety is priceless.

An incredibly well stocked wee bike shop in the heart of Rathgar Village!…read more The prices of the bikes seem reasonable but I wasn't really looking at bikes, I was looking for gadgets...oh and lights, it's getting dark earlier and earlier and unless you are lit up like a Christmas tree you are going to end up like road pizza some fine evening. Gadgets?...well, I am male, we have an inbuild love of flashy essentially useless things! I discovered the ultimate one here - the 'Reelight', a set of two lights that sit on the frame of your bike and are powered by magnets as your wheel spins... fantastic. It costs about 46Euro but definitely going on my Christmas list! Leaving that aside the shop is packed with accessories as well as bikes, a very useful place to know about.

The new(ish) bike to work scheme provides you with up to €1000 for a bike and accessories, given that your work buys it. MacDonald's is a keen supportive of the scheme and thus keep their shop well stocked. They've got a partner shop on Wexford Street, which was first opened in the 1920s. The shop in Rathgar is a newer addition, but it's still got that same family run feel. They also service your bikes in the shop and try to get back to you in the same day. Not a bad deal at all.

This is the best idea i have come across in 2009…read more I visited Rothar during the summer in search of a bicycle, now Phibsboro is a long trek for me from Dundrum, its all the way across the other side of the city, I didnt buy a bike but it was worth it to see this operation. You should look at their website to try and get the full flavour of rothar but i will try and describe it to you here. Basically it is a community project that gathers abandoned and donated bicycles from around the city, the people there then do up the bicycles and then sell them on at a really cheap price, about €90 for your average bike. They also conduct classes on maintaining your bicycle and they provide workshop spaces where you can repair your own bike with their tools and get advice on how to fix whatever is wrong. Since i was there they have changed premises and that can only be good. I spent ages walking around phibsboro with my boyfriend trying to find this "shop" in an area i have never been in before, we ended up down a tiny little lane where there were loads of kids playing. It was there we found what i can only describe as a tiny garage with a man in dreds surrounded by bicycles and bike parts. He confirmed that we had found Rothar but unortunately there were not any proper bikes ready to take away. The workshop is bigger and better now but as far as i can see these guys are in real need of bicycles to keep this operation going so as well as giving Rothar a big thumbs up i am sending an encouraging message out to anyone who reads this, if you have an old bike lying around or if you know someone who is throwing one out, think of these guys before you donate your bike to a skip! Oh and just incase you dont speak Irish, Rothar is the Irish for Bicycle and it's pronounced " ruh-har" if you can read my attempt at spelling phonetically!

Amazing community project place where you can get your bike serviced properly and with genuine care…read morefor not much, leave your unwanted bikes for a 2nd life (or buy their refurbished bikes) and even attend a workshop on how to fix your bike yourself. I've had a lot of work done on my bike there which they did in 24 hours only !! and since then, no bother As a community project, they won an entrepreneur award (can't remember which one that was) which means they really know what they re doing and are really committed to the project. I ll try their bike workshop some day !
