I rang twice in the week and couldn't get to speak to a salesperson. Finally got through on Wednesday to a different salesperson and asked them to mud guard the bike. Was told that's fine. The bike was sold to someone else by Friday pick up. Hollingsworth said they'd call me back within half an hour as they tried to source the bike elsewhere. I rang back four hours later and was told sales staff were on the floor. Do not shop here.

Given that Dublin is full of grimy little bike shops that mainly do repairs and have a small…read moreselection of bikes that you can hardly see because they're so tightly packed, whereas the bigger shops in the suburbs like Eurocycles or Cycle Superstore look like they're printed off a CAD-CAM app screen with no personal touch... this place ends up being one of the best bicycle shops in Dublin. The bikes are well displayed and easy to see and try out, there's a reasonably good selection, and the owner is very knowledgeable - which counts for a lot. Nor does she try to take over your life while giving you advice - unlike other bike shop owners I have encountered in this town!

I can't actually find any other business (all categories applied) over the last 12 months that gave me a better service than these guys, fair play to their customer service and their advice - no sales pressure, just pure no-non sense suggestions with regards to what you have and what you need. Super fast and fair repairs as well. I'm not an expert in cycles or someone that would spend more money for the sake of going to a local business, yet I'd certainly go to this shop again, that's a good spectrum of customers that the shop attracts.

To be fair to them, once you get inside, tis a different story altogether. It's a fairly big warehouse space full of all types of wheels, and a separate section dedicated to cycle accessories and clothes. To be honest though, it's not that good. I don't know much about bikes, but the selection seemed to be heavily based on men's racers and mountain bikes. Not much in the way of women's or alternatives like fixies or hybrids. My main gripe though was that I must have been there for 15 mins, wandering round, wanting to part with my hard earned cash, but not knowing where to begin. In all that time, ain't no one came over and chatted with me or asked if they could help. In the end, I gave up and left. Customer service is key folks! You can have all the annoying jingle ads in the world to get people to your shop, but if you can't help em when they're there, well what's the point!!!

Today was my second time using this shop. A couple of years ago, they fixed a puncture in just a…read morefew minutes, and I was delighted with the service. However, on that occasion, it was 'cash only'. Today, I had a small, niggling problem with my bike and stopped off on my way home. The man looked at it and came up with a workaround solution that involved cleverly applying a couple of plastic ties - and then refused payment! (I ended up buying an accessory I needed - but that was off my own bat as I was so impressed with the way he went about helping me out.) He also told me that for bike services, he will sometimes offer a lend of a replacement bike. Oh, and they currently accept credit and debit cards. Sorted!

Popped in earlier this week to get my bike serviced and a pair of new tires, since mine barely had…read moreany rubber left. The Bike Institute's location is very convenient for me as I live in Ashtown and it's fairly easy to get there. If you search for the shop on google maps, it won't take you to the right place, which was one of the things I first struggled with. But I gave them a ring and they kindly directed me to the actual location. For starters, the staff there is very friendly and were incredibly helpful. It was my first time there and I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything I didn't need or were pushy in any way. As I only own a bike and literally ride it everywhere, I dropped it off first thing in the morning and asked if I could pick it up by the end of the day and the staff member confidently told me it'd be done before that. I was pleasantly surprised, as most bike shops don't have such a fast turnover! And that was a huuuuuge PLUS for me! However, just because it's a fast turnover, don't be fooled: the quality of the service was superb. My bike is smooth as butter now. So it's safe to say I am very happy with the service they provided! It should get me through the winter and once the winter is over, you can be sure I will drop by again to get the premium service for the summer days Thank you again to all the staff for a great experience!
