They've been super helpful, gave me great advice, helped me out with my bike to work scheme, gave me a free check up to make sure the bike is still good after a few weeks and to top it all off... I bend me frontwheel in the first week after I bought my new bike... no idea how, but anyway.. they told me "no worries, we'll look after you, because that's just bad luck..." and they did everything they could to sort me out for free or at the lowest possible Charge!! Cycling is a sport by excellence no matter what age you are, at Cycleways that's their view. Francesca has very fair review concerning the workshop, a good idea could be to leave the bike for service a let the staff deal by bringing it down and back up!!!. On the other hand the quality of the bicycles is good and the service for selling them is spot on!. I got a really good advice for the three bicycles i bought for my kids and I am very happy with what I ended up with. I went to check out few places and prices and the decision for Cycleways was with no doubt. Safety before anything was the first advice which the other places didn't have, a bit more expensive maybe but for your self, wife or your children safety is priceless. read more

Top class bike shop in the city centre. Pricier than what you'd get out in the suburbs, but they seem to be pitching at a racing clientelle, so maybe that's why. Best thing about Cycleways is that they do repairs - the repair shop is a few doors down from the main store, heading towards Capel Street. Again, it's pricey - but it's also the only place in the city centre that does bike repairs so what can you do? They don't repair on the spot, you'll probably have to come back later that day, at the earliest. read more

I don't like the attitudes I've encountered in this shop. It's also downright inconsiderate to have the workshop in the basement- you have to wheel your bike straight through the sales floor then carry it downstairs (nope, no lift or even ramp) to get it looked at. To boot, they wanted to charge me 2-3 times as much as other shops want for the same parts and work. When I needed a new wheel, they told me in so many words that my bike wasn't worth fixing. I took it elsewhere where they were happy to take my money and tune up my little gets-me-to-work-and-back machine. My advice to you is to take the time to find smaller, less corporate bike shops. Real experts don't have to wear branded uniforms and make you feel inadequate. read more

I write this with the disclaimer that, in fairness, this was probably a case of poor timing & having an equally poor day. We walked our bikes into the store because it was the closest place to get a new back wheel for my bike (the previous one had been stolen while my bike was locked up earlier - urgh). No greeting whatsoever from the staff (3 employees on the main floor with one other customer). I told the bf to hold onto our bikes while I went downstairs to see about getting it fixed, & after queueing in front of the repair shop for a few minutes I was able to explain to the technician that I needed a new wheel; do I need to bring my bike downstairs or does somebody have to bring it down. The technician curtly said I needed to talk to somebody upstairs. I returned upstairs to find that, still, nobody had approached the bf (in the store, with two bikes, one clearly lacking a back wheel). Eventually we got the bike serviced - €107 to replace the back wheel - it'd be finished by 5, they close at 6, and no, we couldn't just pick it up tomorrow - they needed the space. So... 2 stars because the bike was fixed properly & well. Minus 3 stars because, man, pretty craptacular service this particular time. :-/ read more

Was looking for a new bike and was willing to be flexible on the price. Popped in on a Saturday hoping to ask some questions and learn about a few models. The staff weren't very eager to help and when a staff member approached us I told him what purpose the bike would serve and that I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. I was hoping for a few recommendations but those weren't forthcoming. I mentioned I had looked at one model online but they didn't have it in stock and the guy didn't seem that interested in explaining alternatives. Waste of time trekking to town. Nice looking bikes but I'm not going to splash out without knowing that what I'm buying will actually meet my needs. read more

I LOVE THIS SHOP! Cycleways has consistently surprised me by being very convenient while also always having what I need in stock. The staff is very knowledgeable and you won't be sent out without good advice or the bike or part you need. They have a very nice range of road, mountain, city, hybrid, bmx, fixies and triathlon bikes as well as a small (but perfectly formed) triathlon section. The bikes are pricey enough, but everywhere in Dublin is because of the Cycle to Work scheme which seems to have added 20% to the price of all bikes since being launched in 2009. great shop....serious cycling shop! Was buying bikes for my son and daughter, and having looked in Halfords, and Smyths, it was a pleasure to be here! Raul took us through all the options and explained things to us that wouldn't ever have entered our heads. It made me realise something I knew before, but had sort of ignored - bikes are not toys!! They're machines! For getting from around on and for getting exercise!! The bikes here are for this, whereas the ones in the previously mentioned two shops were for 'show', and were much heavier - making it difficult to log around in and out of cars etc. Thanks so much to Raul the very helpful assistant. read more

Cycleways is definitely a hub for serious cyclists in the City Centre, but it doesn't mean us lay-bikers can't drop in for a pannier or two. I've purchased two bikes through this shop (the second replacing my beloved Giant Ladies Bike, stolen by hooligans) and have been delighted with the selection and service each time. The staff here really know their stuff (if occasionally forgetting their manners) and getting sized and kitted out for the type of riding you want to do is a breeze. A bonus note: any bike bought here is entitled to a free check-up shortly after purchase,ask for details on that! Recently Cycleways renovated the downstairs show room and workshop - giving the two spaces a little more wiggle room while opening up the repair area for those waiting on parts or checking on bikes in for a fix. On the sales floor upstairs there's plenty of cool gadgets, clothes and accessories to tack on, almost all of it excellent quality (ask honestly about the grade of stuff you'd like to buy and you'll get a very honest answer from staff). It isn't cheap, and I have found the same products for considerably less in shops outside of town, but I stay loyal because of the reliable service, good stock and excellent workshop. read more

Just as some people like nothing more than spending hours browsing through clothes shops with little intention of actually purchasing anything, I know of few greater joys than examining fixed-wheel hubs, derailleur gears and drop-out handlebars (before anyone points this out, I know not all of the above are compatible on the same bicycle). Cycleways is the biggest bicycle shop in town, and has comrehensive ranges of all bikes and accessories. Cycleways is probably most worthwhile for the more serious amateur cyclist, as a lot of stuff is more towards the top end of the scale. Due to the sheer scale of it, the range of bikes available in Cycleways might be a little daunting to the novice, who may prefer the more personal service of a smaller shop. Still, for your serious cyclist, it's difficult to top Cycleways (best place to go if you want parts for a fixie). read more

I showed up after work to get a bike on the bike2work scheme. Got there at 18.10, they close at 18.30. Seemed to me enough time to find something and make a deal. After 15 minutes someone finally walked up to me, telling me that they were really busy with people collecting bikes. I told him that I wanted to buy a bike, he gave me the impression that he would find time for me. A few minutes later another person started talking to me, basically telling me to come back another day. Apparently they don't want to sell bikes and feel it's good to waste someone's time. Not going back. Worst service I've ever encountered in a bike shop. Will spread the word to everyone I know about my treatment there and as I'm Dutch, I know a lot of cyclists. read more

I bought my girlfriend a bike from Cycleways. She only cycled it one time. Then we drove to Galway to go on a cycle trip. When we got there, the rear wheel was gone. They didn't tighten it enough when they assembled the bike. They refused to accept any responsibility or offer any compensation for this. As bad as this is, it's actually a blessing in disguise as my girlfriend could have been seriously injured if it had come off while she was riding. I would have any work done by these clowns checked by a competent bicycle mechanic. read more

the shop itself is very good, good bikes and good components. They deal with Kona, Specialized and Cerveló, three good brands. The webpage is nice, but once you are there the service can be improved, they don´t come to you offering help. I have to say that there are several people there, and some of them are nice and very professional (for example the mechanist and other guy more) but they have one of the guys have no idea about bikes or doesn't want to attend the people properly. I am not Irish, and maybe because I have an accent people can think that I am stupid, I am riding bikes since more that 20 years and have had around 40 bikes in my live, I know what is a bike and don´t accept fare tales about components, frames or designs, that one of the guys there like to tell. If you go there and you are lucky, you can get very good impression but if your are not, you will give the shop only one star. read more

If you want to do a triathlon you need a decent bike. And if, like me, you don't know too much about bikes yourself you go someplace where they do know about bikes. Like Cycleways. Admittedly there are probably cheaper places to get a bike in Dublin, but you'll be hard pressed to find a shop with staff, who know more about bikes then the people working here. If you're looking for friendly, fast and efficient bike service, then avoid Cycleways as all costs. Six months ago I spent a pretty penny in Cycleways on a brand spanking new bike . This morning, on my way in to work, I got a puncture and wheeled my rothar for 20 minutes till I reached Parnell St. I arrived at 9am but the store didn't open 'till 9.30am. Having waited 30 mins and first to arrive in the store, no acknowledgment was received from anyone of the 4 members of staff. Having enquired what I needed to do to get my bike looked at, I was informed that I needed to carry my bike downstairs (20 steps) to the basement. No assistance offered. 5 minutes later, a member of staff shows up and tells me that I need to make an appointment to get my puncture repaired. Next available slot, I ask - 6 days time! At this stage, I'm 45 minutes late for work with a pressing meeting, so I opt to purchase a tube upstairs and repair the bike myself. I ask if they could lend me tire irons and a pump and with much chagrin, they agree under strict condition that I repair outside of the premises on a cold January morning. What fine, upstanding folk the Cycleways staff are...NOT. As I say, avoid if at all possible. read more

Terrible service - several months to get some sort of response on broken bike. Everytime I rang in, spoke to a different person as the one I liaised with initially was unavailable for multiple reasons. Then, eventually after 4 months got the fixed bike back, covered in some sort of saw dust and told that it will be cleaned up if I pay extra Avoid at any cost, higher price (compared to other shops) doesnt go in paralell with quality. I finally collected my bicycle after waiting 16 weeks from ordering it. This in my option is completely unacceptable. I am also still no clearer as to what caused such a delay, and am now down 8 weeks of transport costs I hadn't anticipated having been told when i placed my order that the timescale for ordering a Brompton is usually between 6-8 weeks. To cause further annoyance, I have had to make 11 phone calls to chase the manager, in order for him to finally track my bicycle. To say I am beyond annoyed is an understatement. read more
