The Bike Institute's location is very convenient for me as I live in Ashtown and it's fairly easy to get there. If you search for the shop on google maps, it won't take you to the right place, which was one of the things I first struggled with. But I gave them a ring and they kindly directed me to the actual location. For starters, the staff there is very friendly and were incredibly helpful. It was my first time there and I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything I didn't need or were pushy in any way. As I only own a bike and literally ride it everywhere, I dropped it off first thing in the morning and asked if I could pick it up by the end of the day and the staff member confidently told me it'd be done before that. I was pleasantly surprised, as most bike shops don't have such a fast turnover! And that was a huuuuuge PLUS for me! However, just because it's a fast turnover, don't be fooled: the quality of the service was superb. My bike is smooth as butter now. So it's safe to say I am very happy with the service they provided! It should get me through the winter and once the winter is over, you can be sure I will drop by again to get the premium service for the summer days Thank you again to all the staff for a great experience! I'm very hesitant to let anyone work on my bike, so this review should showcase my satisfaction.

They were still online despite the fact it was after hours, replied to me, and I dropped in the next day and they fixed it for me on the spot. The guys could not have been nicer about it. Great vibe in the shop and super advice. Top quality service, great opening hours.

Horrible experience…read more I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the appalling service and hazardous repair work carried out at your 360 cycle shop, as well as the completely unacceptable behavior of your staff. On 6th May ,I picked up my bicycle from your shop after it was supposedly repaired. However, immediately after taking it back, I noticed a severe issue: the bike frequently gets stuck on the chain. Because of this faulty and irresponsible workmanship, I have been put in highly dangerous situations on the road multiple times. Your shop's negligence has directly compromised my physical safety. To make matters worse, when I brought the bicycle back to address this issue, your staff member outright refused to take responsibility and instead accused me of damaging the bike myself. This defensive, dismissive, and rude attitude is shocking. It is clear that your shop currently shows a total disregard for customer safety and basic accountability. Due to this handling of the situation, I am demanding the following: 1 The full names and contact numbers of both the store manager and the staff member who was on duty and handled my case. 2 A full explanation and an immediate, proper resolution to fix my bicycle at no extra cost, or a full refund so I can have it repaired safely elsewhere. I expect a prompt response to this matter. If this is not resolved satisfactorily, I will not hesitate to escalate this complaint to relevant consumer protection authorities. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Yours sincerely, James

My pal had a old basket but it didn't fit the bracket on my bike. Popped into City Cycles to ask if they had a bracket to fit the new basket or a basket to fit the old bracket! Bingo!! The owner adapted both the basket and bracket using cable ties, clamps, nuts, bolts and whatnot and he didn't charge me! Made my day. Mary-Lou

This had begun to happen to me lately in relation to City Cycles, the bicycle shop just next to the pedestrian overpass in Fairview. While maybe a teeny bit further from my house than Sean Duff's in Donaghmede, I pass City Cycles pretty much everyday on my way to town, so it would be so much more convenient if I could make them my local bicycle shop. Luckily, this mental agony was cut short when my back tyre was running pretty flat when I was going through North Strand, thus making the decision for me. I went into City Cycles to borrow a pump. Now, the etiquette of borrowing pumps in bicycle shops is meant to be very straight forward. If your tyre has a Schrader valve, they will often pump it up for you if they have a pressurised pump like wot garages do. If they don't, or if you have Pressta valves, they will still perhaps offer to do it for you, or more usually give you a stand pump to save your arms. It's the polite thing to do, and it follows that if they are willing to help you out with stuff like that, you'll be more likely to patronise them when you have a purchase to make rather than the fellas down the road. When I made the request in City Cycles, a man dressed in beige chinos (why the f*ck would would you wear beige trousers working in a bicycle shop?) deigned to point behind me and said, "Pump's in the window there". I picked up the pump (small, hand pump) and set to. Now, I don't want to seem ungrateful, but they must have had a stand pump for when they were pumping Pressta tyres themselves; why not extend that courtesy to me? And it seemed that when they realised that I wasn't going to make a purchase, i ceased to exist to them. I'll be going to Little Sport in Marino Mart for all my bicycle needs in the Fairview area, thank you very much.

I am writing to advise you against involving this lot in the purchase or maintenance of your bike…read more Here's my unfortunate experience. Having had some trouble with my gears the engineer at 2Wheels suggested that I should get a new hub for my bike and as they didn't have the time/expertise to either fix the existing part or indeed to attach the hub to spokes and a rim. They quoted me for a replacement of the whole wheel. I accepted their "expert advise" and asked them to go ahead with the work even thought it was rather expensive. Imagine my surprise some months later, when I'm being quizzed by one of their own mechanics as to where I'd had this work done, I was informed that the parts used were not of the brand of my bike - a cheaper brand was used - and that the rim of the tyre in particular was "not fit for purpose" as it was not deep enough to accommodate normal branded tyres. I learned all of this only after I had a puncture and they couldn't fix it as the tyre wouldn't stay on! Keep in mind that all of this has taken me half a dozen trips out of my way to their premises. I would like to take a moment to inform you about the way in which all of this was conveyed to me. The owners of this place are really rather rude, inconsiderate and just poor communicators at first I mistook this for shyness. That mistake was evident when at one point I was told that they would "be doing you a favour" to put this right. They even charged me for the puncture that I had to return to them three times to get resolved. No apologies for the hours of my time that have been wasted in this ongoing mess. I do realise that there are happy comments about this shop and if you've got a small issue that just needs a new tube no doubt they'll fix that and you'll be delirious with joy at the quick turn around but they were rude to me, they put the wrong parts on my bike and in the end they just put another type of tyre on and didn't fix the underlying shallow rim issue. In short they have nothing but contempt for the customer who they have now lost due to penny pinching and poor customer handling. I intend to now take my bike to a competent player who uses the correct parts, someone who has the backbone to stand over their work (even if it doesn't work out) and fix it. Properly!
