So my friend recommended this place to me for brunch and I was really glad she did!! Although this place is small and parking is hard to find, the marketplace sandwich was by far the best sandwich I have ever had in my life LOL. The sweetness of the cheese and the fig sauce with the prosciutto was just the right pairing, and it was definitely worth every cent ($9). The honey matcha latte as well wasn't too sweet and it was honestly the right amount of matcha (just a little bit too lukewarm for me, wish it was a little bit hotter haha, same with the restaurant, it's a bit cold there too so make sure you bundle up!). Seems like any old coffee shop at first. Cute tables outside socially distanced and a window to order. They had some interesting pastry options displayed on the window. The difference I first noticed how friendly the staff was. While I was ordering, she talked to me like a human rather than a customer and told me she really liked my shirt. Then the iced matcha latte and dirty chai espresso muffin was ready lightening fast. There is a really nice bike path a few blocks away with some seating so I sat there. Iced matcha wasn't the best I've had, but given it's just match mixed with milk and ice, I never expect it to be blow my socks off amazing. The dirty chai muffin tho, the chai icing is sticky so it will stick to the inside of the bag. Don't waste any of it. The muffin is like a coffee cake and this is what convinced me that this place is 5 stars. read more

I dig this place. A lot. It's a little less than a mile walk for me, so I like to make the "trek" on early Saturday mornings. And when I say early, I'd say around 8am or so. And when I get there, it's already poppin'. It's a great neighborhood joint and everyone knows it. By 9 or 930, I'd say it's a little harder to find seating - not particularly big inside but still a decent amount of seating. They also have outdoor seating, which means PUPS. Great spot for families as well. They have seasonal items or the usual sandwiches, bowls, or bakery items. Espresso drinks available as well. I'm keen on the pepper biscuit sandwich or the Little Figgy (almond butter, banana, and cinnamon on 7 grain). Wish they had a larger cold brew, but we can't all be perfect. This place is a little close to it though. Definitely a great early morning spot, but I haven't been at other times because it can get a little tight. You'll easily see me there almost every Saturday morning when it's nicer weather. That doesn't mean come say hi, but you can always sit with me in awkward silence. read more

I take the 88 bus every day to work, which passes right by 3LF, and I resolved one day to go check it out. I'm a sucker for local coffee shops. I'd read that it often gets crowded on weekends, but it was a rainy Sunday morning, so I brought my book in the hopes that I'd be able to sit and enjoy my coffee while reading inside. Even at 10:30 AM in the rain, there was a line inside. Which means the place is good! But also that there was slim chance I'd be able to have a relaxing morning reading in a coffee shop. All the food options on the chalkboard menu sound intriguing, but I was in a baked goods mood, so I ordered a Dirty Chai Muffin and a Latte with Almond Milk. For here or to go? "Uh... (looks around at the crowded space, really doesn't want to go back out in the rain) For here." I'm handed the muffin and find myself seat-less. But I've already committed to a mug of latte, so I ask a woman sitting my herself at a 2-person table if I can share. Her friend is coming, but I can sit in the meantime. I unwrap my baked good and have to grab a fork since there seems to be no easy way to bite into this mound of muffin. Upon the first forkfull, I realize that these Figgies sure know how to work an oven. The cinnamon-spiced muffin was just the right texture, fluffy yet not too airy or crumbly. The espresso glaze on top (thus the "dirty" in the name) adds a sweetly unique twist. My latte comes out about 5 minutes later. It's in a large mug with foam art gracing the surface. This is why local coffee shops are the best. The coffee is dang good, well-balanced. And strong. I'm buzzing for the entire rest of the day. I really, really wish they were somehow able to have an environment in which people could relax and spend a good amount of time inside. Especially since it was raining and the outdoor seating couldn't be utilized, only around 15 people can be seated inside at one time. I felt rushed, especially since I was a squatter at someone else's table, and my book went unread. There were lots of people standing around - in the line, waiting to pick up their orders, on the prowl for seating - which stressed me out a bit. The food and drink I had were superb though (albeit a bit pricey at $7), so next time I'll try to venture over earlier or on a weekday to try to avoid the stress. read more

OMG lavender biscuits are a must! They are decent sized pastry, light crisp on the outside and perfectly fluffed inside with hints of lavender. Okay, look, I like this place. I go here at least three times a week. Drinks are great, menu is restricted, but sandwiches are good and I live down the street. Most of the staff is super friendly. I just REALLY need to get this off my chest: Today, I ordered online, took a sip of what was meant to be an iced chai, and immediately could taste it was an iced latte with... almond milk? (Two drinks which are... quite easy to distinguish.) No big deal, happens! I saunter over to the counter, explaining the mix up, and the cashier hands it to the barista. I'm expecting a... normal exchange, where the barista is like "Oh no let me remake that," and the customer restrains themselves from saying "if you're going to just pour that out, I *would* take it..." (Lest they lose credibility in asking for the drink to be remade, of course.) But, no! Instead, the barista looks at the lid, and goes "We mark the lids of the drinks we make, and this is marked as a chai. So, no, this is indeed a chai." As I am about to speak, she cuts me off: "I can remake this for you, but it will taste exactly the same." "Uh... Do you want to take a sip of that? It's clearly --" "I will not do that," she scoffs (fair -- not sanitary). "This is a chai. As I said, we mark the lids as we make the drinks. 'CH' -- it's a chai. " "Uhh... I swear on my life this is an iced latte, with what *tastes* like almond--" "I will make this for you again, but it will taste exactly the same." I make another move to speak, before she preempts with, "It will taste exactly the same." She remakes the drink and thrusts it toward me, a bemused condescension in her expression that seems to communicate she's waiting for me to put on a performance about how the drink tastes different, even though we both know it doesn't. Needless to say... it did not taste the same... because... it was a different drink... (Again, I like this place, and this was but one interaction in what must be 50+ times I've been here.) I am just... *mystified* by the intense confidence in the infallibility of the lid-notating-drink-making process. Also, for real, what is the incentive for a customer to ask for a drink be remade? As mentioned, customers are bound by the incentive-compatibility mechanism of letting the original drink get tossed down the drain! I am not from a competing establishment trying to bleed you of your milk products!(!!!) I am in fact strongly invested in your financial health, as I would love to continue eating here!(!!!) This cute cafe makes me wish that I lived around Somerville so I can come by every morning and afternoon to get coffee and do my work. I was around the area and had some time to kill so decided to get a quick meal : almond milk latte + habanero quinoa bowl (not quite sure what the actual name is) Their coffee is more on the acidic tasting side rather than dark and bitter which I don't mind, but it is pretty strong which I like! The bowl was also delicious and quite filling!! 3 Little Figs is a cute cafe that I've been meaning to try out but always missed the opportunities because they only operate from 8 A.M. - 12 P.M. So if you're like me and you're not an early morning bird, then you definitely need to plan out your visit and set alarm clocks. When you arrive at 3 Little Figs, there is a check in window where you can order and they make your order really quick! I only had to wait about 5 minutes for my matcha latte & Chia pudding even though there was a line of folks waiting for their order. Regarding the actual food and drink, the Matcha Latte has less of the latte and more matcha taste, which I prefer. But if you don't like traditional matcha tea then you might need to request for more milk. The Chia Pudding looked to me the most unique dish they have on their menu, which includes pudding, dragon fruits, pistachio, almonds, and raisins (I think?). I didn't know what to expect with a dragonfruit pudding but it was a delicious blend of dragon fruit and nuts. Nothing particularly is too overpowering and tastes healthy! Great baked goods, snacks and coffee! The inside space is small, but during the summer, 3 Little Figs offers seating outside - perfect for people watching and getting some sun! Everything on their food menu is delicious - I recommend the egg&feta sandwich - the egg is is fluffy and the feta gives it a zing to taste. The bread is so gooddd and even the three side cucumbers are crunchy and well seasoned. I've also had the Village - which is roasted sweet potatotes and arugula is a little different from your normal sandwiches! The sweet potato is more on the crunchy side and the honey gives it a sweet taste. Not only is the matcha latte pretty to look at, but it is also delicious - not too sweet or creamy. We come here every weekend for their coffee and pastries -- enough for the staff to know our exact orders (because we're obsessive creatures of 3LF habit and order the same thing almost every time) and for me to wake up on Saturdays and yell "IT'S COCOA ZUCCHINI CAKE DAY!". /FAVORITES: Cocoa zucchini cake - dairy free, so moist, and full of chocolate chips and walnuts. My favorite, hands down. Lavender biscuit - his favorite. Comes with a ton of glaze on top, and also tastes really good with Fomu's lavender ice cream (hint). Sweet potato cake - dense, but also moist. I love the glaze on top and I've never managed to eat this thing is one sitting. It's the perfect balance of sweet without being overly so. Market sandwich - they are *so* generous with their prosciutto and the bread is the perfect crispy *and* soft. /THE SPACE/SERVICE: Anything that needs warming up/preparation takes a while to come out, so if you're in a rush...come here anyway just plan ahead. There are always seasonal specials and special coffees on the side board. There's usually a line out the door by 9am on weekends, but they're really fast. Don't bank on finding a table, though. They don't allow laptop campers on weekends, but you can do so on weekdays. 3 Little Figs also boasts the friendliest baristas in town. You can also sit down in Health Club, a smoothie bar, which is part of the same business & located next door. Simplicity is the name of the game here, and with so few ingredients they have to be top notch and the execution perfect. The pepper biscuit with egg, bacon and cheese is divine, as is the pure & simple Feta & Olive Toast. There are about eight regular sandwiches on the board and a specials board with rotating selections. They have excellent baristas for superior coffee and tea, the London Fog Latte is particularly good. While you place your order make sure to check out the pastry counter, there is always something new that you just have to try. You wouldn't likely pass 3 Little Figs on your daily commute because it's "out there" deep in Somerville but it is 100% worth the trek. Alongside Broadsheet, this is one of my favorite cafes in Boston. The place is adorable and makes you want to sit and drink a coffee all day (and I don't even drink coffee!). We came for a late lunch around 3:15 PM and got a bunch of things to share: The Market Sandwich: Goat cheese and fig jam. I would eat that alone. But then prosciutto and fresh tomatoes were added. Sign me up! Greek Salad - Beautiful and fresh tasting but nothing you can't make at home. The Big Fig Cookie - Holy Schnikeys. The perfect combination of chewy and crunchy filled with chocolate chips and pumpkin seeds. I could eat these all day. Apple Cider Muffin - a great concept but I didn't love how coated in sugar it was. I would have loved a bit more apple cider flavor. We got to know 3 Little Figs through Yelp and since then it has become our go to breakfast place. They have really good coffee and that was what we were looking for. But once you get there you realize they also have really good food - toasts, sandwiches, baked goods... they also have daily specials! Everything seems to be fresh! Their biscuit is delicious! It comes hot so even better. The setting of the place is really nice too. Pictures of Greece and all the colors of the island. It just feels like you are there! It is very common to have a line and it is always hard to get a table! So come thinking about that - specially if you are in a big group. It's small and insanely popular, so finding seating is a total nightmare. But man, the baked goods that come out of the kitchen... On a trip to Boston a couple years ago, I fell in love with the cardamom-y Dirty Chai Muffin, not to mention the ridiculously delicious and vegan (!) Chocolate Ginger Bomb Cookies. (Can you tell I love me some warm spices?) At the time, I also recall wishing the famed Lavender Biscuit had offered a bit more floral punch, but enjoying it nonetheless. This time around, I tried an absolutely heavenly Iced Sweet Potato Spice Cake that remained perfectly moist two days after purchasing it. Also enjoyed a flaky Goat Cheese Scone and stocked up on more of my favorite Chocolate Ginger Bomb Cookies, which come in packages of six. Back to that first visit, I remember trying some sort of Breakfast Sandwich that was fine, but utterly forgettable, though the coffee was good. First off, The Village sandwich is so good!! If you're a fan of sweet potato and sun dried tomatoes, this is the go to for you. I'm still thinking about it since the day I had it, which was weekssss ago. There's quite a selection of fun sweets. I asked for some recommendations and one of the girls that worked there was more than willing to help! All the workers there are extremely nice and helpful. I ended up getting the gingerbread cupcake (seasonal). So glad I went with that recommendation!! I was surprised by how spacious this cafe is. I mean it's not a Starbucks but it's a perfect spot to do some work or just catch up with a friend. There's still a lot I want to try but I'm so glad I trooped to Somerville for this meal!
