The carrot salad was a unique and healthy treat. The crunch of the carrots tossed in a bold lime and fish sauce was balanced with a hint of sweetness and chili spice. The roasted peanuts added more texture to the crunch. It was nice to eat that with the other dishes we got like a crunchy pickle addition. The large dumpling was yummy- it was juicy and bursting with meat. The chili soy sauce it sat in was nice to drizzle on the other food we got. The pork spare ribs just fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. It wasn't too fatty bc it was braised. They had nice caramelized fried shallots on top for extra flavor. They had a special hot toddy that was the best I've ever had. Served with bourbon, mezcal, lemon, honey, tamarind and masala- it had a nice balance of spices and tang. It was perfect as we sat outside enjoying a mild evening with our dog. Service was fast and friendly!! The staff are so sweet and seem to genuinely enjoy what they do!

Most recently I ordered the Laphet salad and the "KPS" also known as very large dumpling. Both were good. I might actually like them to be smaller, as the dumpling was a little gooey, and the salad took me so long to eat that it got a little soggy. They're very unique flavors that I don't crave all the time, but when I want them, these hit the mark. I'd love to try it their curry, potatoes, noodles, or chicken next time.

The place fills up nicely so that you feel like you have the privacy of being in a crowd without it feeling crowded. The food is beautiful and I really love the dishware they use here. Overall the service was satisfactory, nothing really to write home about either way. That being said I would have liked the food to be a bit more substantial for the prices. The pricing felt a bit high for what was served both in terms of substance and quantity. A final minor note is that I consider calling the Turmeric Fries "fries" a bit misleading considering that they are most definitely chips and that was more than a little disappointing when they came out.

I liked the tanginess, I like that the noodles were thin and there was a nice crunch to every bite tea leaf salad - this was a very refreshing salad and honestly more filling than I expected with all the nuts it had. We did not need to squeeze the lime because the dressing itself was tangy enough, and the owner warned us about this as well. So thoughtful! potato and beef curry - this was okay as the beef was pretty tough and dry for us but the coconut rice was quite good. Bd noodle salad - this was just okay, I didn't love how soft the noodles were as I most often would prefer el dente noodles whenever possible. We originally wanted to try the beef and potato curry, but they were out, so we went with the chicken as an alternative. The dish itself was simple, with just chicken, potatoes, curry sauce, and paratha but it was packed with flavor. The curry's rich taste paired with the tenderness of the chicken was unlike anything I've had before tasted very hearty. To enjoy it, I shredded some chicken and added it to the paratha, along with a little bit of pickled daikon radish and carrot. It made for the perfect bite, as the pickled veggies balanced out the richness. I'll definitely be back to try the beef curry and will continue to keep this spot in mind whenever I'm nearby, good comfort food overall was very satisfied!

Asian curries but, like all ingredients, it should not be pushed overboard. We ordered the Family Feast style meal and a single Khao Soi. The Khao Soi is too sweet for my taste for a curry soup noddle; perhaps, I am just not in tuned with Burmese curries. I'd much prefer Malaysian & Indonesian curries, where the curries are leaning towards more savory and do not taste like desserts. Even the other curries from the Family Feast were too sweet. I blame it on the overuse of coconut milk. Service: a single white waitress was serving, covering 4-6 tables, although the place wasn't very busy. She was courteous but goofed up a little when she accidentally spilled water on my thigh, although she apologized profusely. Ambiance: mostly low noise, people at each table spoke softly and are respectful of other people's pleasure in eating their foods. Lighting is soft and somewhat dim. Conclusion: would I return? Probably not on my own accord but it's OK if my folks want to eat there.

A Flavorful Escape in Hillsboro! If you haven't made the…read moretrip to Top Burmese Ambassador on Main Street, you are missing out on one of the most unique and soulful dining experiences in the Portland area. While the original NW 21st location is a classic, the "Ambassador" location in Hillsboro feels like a true elevation of the brand, combining incredible hospitality with a menu that is a masterclass in Burmese flavors. Here is why this spot is an absolute 5-star gem: The Tea Leaf Salad (Laphet Thoke): You cannot visit a Top Burmese location without ordering this. It is the gold standard--fermented tea leaves mixed with crunchy peanuts, toasted sesame, fried garlic, and fresh lime. It's a texture and flavor explosion that is unlike anything else in Southeast Asian cuisine. The Golden Samosas: These are a "super duper" must-order. They are flaky, perfectly spiced, and served with a house-made sauce that provides the perfect tangy kick. If you want something even more comforting, their Samosa Soup is the ultimate rainy-day cure. Standout Mains: The Coconut Noodle Soup (Khao Soi) is incredibly rich and aromatic, with just the right amount of creaminess. For a more savory, hearty option, the Beef Curry with Pan-Toasted Paratha is spectacular--the beef is fork-tender and the paratha is buttery and crisp. The Service: The "Ambassador" name is fitting because the staff truly acts as ambassadors for their culture. They are incredibly patient in explaining the menu to newcomers and make excellent recommendations based on your spice tolerance. Atmosphere: The interior is beautifully designed--vibrant, warm, and upscale without being stuffy. It feels like a "mini-vacation" right in the heart of Hillsboro. Pro Tip: This location is incredibly vegan-friendly (about 70% of the menu can be made plant-based!), so it's the perfect spot for a group with diverse dietary needs. Don't leave without trying the Burma Blue cocktail--it's as beautiful as it is delicious!

We ordered the green tea leaf salad, the turmeric fries, the chicken curry with paratha, the all-star okra curry, the coconut noodle soup, and the kheema paratha. I also tried the grass jelly drink. I can't choose my top favorite among everything that we tried. The green tea salad was very unique and I would never have ordered it myself. Now, I'm a fan. The turmeric fries were so delicious too! The chicken curry with the paratha was very Desi and excellent tasting. The okra had a homemade feel to it. I would've liked a side of paratha with it, rather than rice. The kheema paratha was excellent. The coconut noodle soup was like a nice warming/satisfying coconut curry with noodles. The grass jelly was interesting and I know that most of the jelly was left in the can, so while it is nice tasting, I wouldn't recommend drinking it in a can. The Hillsboro location is a little small but this restaurant and the server helping out are both an absolute delight and I highly recommend coming here!!

The atmosphere inside is a more casual, neighborhood style restaurant, as you seat yourself and go up to order at the counter. The Shan style pork noodles, on the other hand, are a must order as they were bursting with flavor. The chickpea tofu curry was good, but didn't blow me away. The tofu has a soft texture that goes nicely with the fried aromatics and peanuts on top. The curry is very tomato forward and doesn't have the depth of flavor I would've wanted.
