I had the Michigan salad with Salmon while sitting on the outdoor patio. A large black bug flew into my salad and I asked for a new salad. I was told by the manager that I chose to sit outside and that is a risk that comes along with it. I was not given a new salad, but instead offered a brownie. For a long time we enjoyed the food, and the service. the last time we went there with my 15 month old who honestly hes my grandson he behaves very well we sat there an hour, they said it was normal to wait a 1/2 an hour for food.. they were rude to my dad they were very rude to us they did not give us very good service, and they didn't really seem to care the food was overcooked some of it was cold! I asked for crackers for my grandson because he was starving at this point and I had to literally get-up-and-go get them after 15 minutes of waiting ..now I understand busy, but there were people that got food that had just been seated before we got our food. they don't really know what the issue was but that was just ridiculous.. The worst part when was mentioned to the owner he didn't really seem to care and I feel that when you go out with your family to pay for a meal and have a nice time it shouldn't be a stressful situation. there's too many choices of good restaurants and good service. I personally do not recommend them. I'm not a complainer and I really don't get heated over things I waited 2 months before I posted this but it still bothers me Therefore I feel that I should share this experience I really hope that maybe this helps the restaurant consider families read more

Lovely food, atmosphere, and service! Love their medallions and mash. Good burgers too. Funny story... and this happened maybe last winter lol. When I was there, a lady at the table next to us was showing her group a new tattoo. She ended up standing up, lifting up her shirt, exposing her breast, to show the tattoo. NOT A SPEAK EASY! Just because it's trendy doesn't mean you can call your basement bar a speakeasy. Calling it a speakeasy does not make it so. So please, stop advertising your place as a speakeasy, it's NOT. A speakeasy has a hidden entrance with no signage or advertising. You have a back entrance with signage on both Main Street (grand river) and the back adjacent to parking with a giant mural and billboards on the highway. Not a speakeasy. Take notes from The Resource & Relief in Fenton. There's a difference. That being said... Pros: A basement bar of this caliber i would expect to see in a bigger city, how did howell luck out? Great atmosphere, wine and beer list. Pot roast is excellent. I love the details of the tables made out of old piping and the shuffleboard table. We absolutely love this place, from the atmosphere to the food. This was our 3rd time dining in and each time we are more impressed. This time we went with the bruschetta to start and it was a solid dish. The mini toasts the bruschetta is served with were great. They were like tiny garlic bread that weren't too chewy and had a nice crunch when you bit in. For dinner I had the Momma's Meatloaf. I had previously ordered the Mushroom Stroganoff which was delicious, and also the Chicken & Ribs dish which was just as great. Back to the meatloaf: it had a nice beefy and sausage blend which was amazing! There were also mashed potatoes which were good and served with a mushroom pan sauce. Four asparagus spears accompanied the dish as well. For dessert we ordered the Blondie. I'm not a huge fan of blondes but I would order this every. single. time. It's so buttery and gooey, and the ice cream lifts the blondie up more by adding a nice fresh bite. I absolutely love this dessert. Other recommendations are: Mac and cheese Salmon Mushroom Stroganoff Ribs and Chicken It was a great meal for the price point, and so far we have left happy every visit. read more

We've heard great things about this place and were so excited to try it. The staff was wonderful however the food was not as great. We were very disappointed to find out the wings were no longer on the menu but given the chicken shortages lately we can't blame the restaurant for that. We ended up starting with the calamari, the calamari was decent just really salty breading on it. For dinner we had the salmon and the shrimp and grits. The salmon was fine but not worth the price, the shrimp and grits were not good though. They were of a soupy consistency and just overall not very pleasing. We really want to give this place another try but for the cost of the food we didn't expect the poor quality. I will say the ambiance of the place is wonderful just wouldn't go back for food. read more

This review is just for one item: I absolutely love this place but was very disappointed with the mushroom toast, no chevre on any of the toast, so basically mushrooms tossed on bread with mixed greens in the middle of the plate. I was disappointed to see the flatbread was gone and I decided to give this a try since I love mushrooms, I found it uncharacteristically boring and missing ingredients for my go to eat spot...the ahi tuna was wonderful as always!! read more

I was reprimanded by the manager for taking a video in this place. I was showing my best friend the cool brick walls and they made a huge deal out of it and embarrassed me. My food ($28) was cold and I asked for toppings on my sons sliders and didn't get that either. The people next to us were dropping F bombs very loudly during our meal (with my 3 kids) and there was even a child playing a harmonica loudly when we were trying to order! This is not the place I will be taking my family back to. Very bad experience. read more

I'd had this place on my radar to try for a few years & finally went there this evening. The server was friendly but was awful about checking on us. The Shrimp & Grits were bland and left a strange aftertaste & the Beef Stroganoff was flat out inedible. The cheesecake was the only redeeming food. Also, there was 80's music blaring from the kitchen & a different soundtrack playing where we were seated & it was really obnoxious. If I ever return it will only be for drinks & dessert read more

We've been coming to 2FOGS since they've opened over 20+ times. We've referred many patrons, over 15 people to the restaurant, but the actions of the management/ownership has just change my opinion. During a busy Saturday night, I brought my sister to introduce her to one of our favorite restaurants in Howell. The restaurant was very busy as expected, so we thought we would sit at the bar to have a cocktail while we waited for a table. As we were about to sit down the manager told us that we couldn't sit at the available seats because he had guessed that wanted to sit there for a longer duration and that we would have to stand and wait for a available table. We immediately left and went to Diamonds. This was a grave mistake by the manager due to the fact that I will no longer patronize this restaurant nor will I bring guests. In fact I plan on sharing my poor experience with my friends , family to let them know that 2FOGS is focused more on profit than Customer Service which will be the demise of this restaurant unfortunately. I make it a point to sit outside on the open porch under the night's sky. It reminds me of a speakeasy from the early 1900's with a lovely ambience. Delicious food, if you're not sure what to get I suggest the reasonable priced sliders. It can get pricey, especially if you're drinking. But you can relax and listen to the soothing music. Went back for a date night and were we disappointed. They discontinued my wife favorite martini due to what the waitress said was "too much waste in making them wrong". Then they discontinued the hot bacon dressing. This stuff was so good you'd bath in it and the don't serve it anymore. My favorite dish, shrimp and grits has changed, smaller shrimp that were over cooked (smaller harder to cook right), gritty not creamy grits, no flavor. My wife bake Brie was barely baked, no Carr's water biscuits and no fresh fruit. We spoke with the manger after and she said the owner isn't listening as she had heard these complaints before. Don't get many date nights and not going to keep coming back to spend $$$. Hope they get there act together as we liked this place. read more

Went there on a Saturday night. Seated right away. Food was very mediocre. Wife had chicken dish with prosciutto and there literally was less than 10 crumbles of prosciutto. Burger was good although one in our group asked for medium well and it almost passed for rare. Service also was just ok. Waitress very nice but rarely came back to fill up water or check on drinks. Second time here and not as good as the first. Likely not driving 30 minutes to come back for a third time. read more
