I had a beer that was berry flavored and a blonde ale. Both very good. Had some pizza which was fine. Not bad, but I've had better. Also had Bavarian pretzels that I think were homemade and the bomb! I have heard good things about this brewery and was finally in the area. Easy to find and plenty of free street parking. Love this! They have a nicely air conditioned inside and patio seating too. We choose the bar. Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the beers, happy hour, and food. Ordered one happy hour and one non-happy hour beer. Both delicious. My Unicorn sour didn't have lactose either. Yay! Ordered happy hour apps: chips and verde salsa and pretzels with mustard. Plenty of other bites for omnivores on the menu. Food portions are large, flavors were good, and prices were right. While this was a quick trip, I'd definitely come back to try more beers and food. read more

My husband and I had a beer and lunch today and were disappointed in the food quality/quantity for the price. I had the two walleye tacos with sweet potato fries. My fries were larger than the sliver of walleye in my tacos. The tacos alone were $12.00 for two with the fries being a separate charge. Pathetic excuse for a fish taco. My husband had a hamburger that was overcooked and dry. The bun was toasted to the point of being nearly burnt. We've eaten here in the past and enjoyed it. We arrived when the place opened so there is no excuse for overcooked food and the poor portioning of the fish is an embarrassment. Aberrant, you can do better! read more

Aberrant Ales is a great local brewery that I stopped at a few times during my stay in Howell. They have a solid variety of beers and cocktails that can please everybody. In my visits to Aberrant, I have never had bad service and the food always comes out quickly. I visited breakfast and dinner and both menus were delicious. She had the type of energy that would turn any bad experience good - Every venue needs a Melissa. Now, onto the food - Give me all the dip! I have been to this restaurant several times for brunch and dinner. The service is always pretty good and it is a fun spot. I really like their beer and find that they always have a good selection on tap. I like sour beer and they always have a fun fruity sour option. I get the chicken nuggets a decent amount and recommend those. I am not a fan of their breakfast, largely due to the fact that they do not have bacon in any of their dishes. I recently got the garden hash and it was tasty but pretty greasy, made my stomach hurt a little. The avocado toast was also pretty average. read more

My husband and I drove out to downtown Howell looking for somewhere new to add to our collection of places to eat/drink... and we are so glad we stopped at Aberrant Ales! We chose to sit outside (dog friendly) and enjoyed beer, cider, chips & salsa, a pizza, and cheeseburgers sliders. The drink/tap menu is a touch smaller, but we both found things we could enjoy (I specifically loved the cherry cider), and we found the food to be pretty good for the middle of Michigan. Our waitress was super sweet & attentive and the facility was clean. We also noticed there was corn-hole inside to play, which would be fun after a few drinks with some friends! read more

We recently tried Aberrant for the first time and we absolutely love everything! The nachos are a must, the fries are seasoned to perfection & their homemade ranch is just the best. Their salads are a great portion and big enough to share for 2-3 people. We always order a few things to share when we go! The big poppa dip is delicious if you love a little spice. Horrible service! No place to sit. Sign says seat your self until you do then they tell you that it's reserved for an hour later. No reserved signs. If they didn't let us sit there for an hour we would have waited an hour for a table and or room at the bar. Ordered fries with no place to put the ketchup and no napkins. Paid bill and took a bit to get our change back. I think that's the worst service I've had in years. We went to Jonna's after. Definitely worth the half hour wait. I loved this place! Clean, wide open spaces, a nice bar, nice staff, great food and great beer. It was a really nice place to meet someone new and share a few small plates. The poutine was fantastic and I'm not usually a big fan of poutine. Theirs?...pretty epic. The had a chicken salad with the honey mustard dressing that was simple and also fantastic. Their Nashville Hot Chicken slider is a must try, and their beef slider was one of the better burger sliders I've ever tried. I took home a Alabama Slamma' pizza from their wood fired oven. It was pretty solid with a great flavored crust, red onion, Alabama white sauce, and chicken. It was good but needed a little more vinegar in the sauce to punch up the flavor. The beer stands on its own. We had a flight and I liked everything we tried. I'm brining more people here to try it and soon. read more

My boyfriend and I came to Aberrant Ales for dinner on 5/22 and it was one of my worst dining experiences to date. I've been to Aberrant with my family many times and this was my second time taking my boyfriend who moved from out of state. The first hiccup was having to show our IDs to our waitress and then to a manager "because she was new." This was not a big deal, just a nuisance. She apologized and said she was thrown off by the non Michigan ID and said Livingston County had been strict about IDs lately. We ordered the poutine as an appetizer, as I've had it before and it is always good! The poutine unfortunately was the best part of the meal. I ordered the classic burger and my boyfriend ordered the Alabama Slama pizza. The burger is listed to come with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion as is. I subbed the onion on the burger for red onion, added bacon and removed the lettuce and tomato. The burger I got had only bacon and pickles. I didn't inspect it at first and took a bite, but then realized it was horribly dry. The burger was burnt, bacon was almost burnt, and obviously the cheese and red onion were missing. The waitress also asked if I would want my bacon extra crispy when I was ordering and I said no. I informed the waitress my order was wrong, and absolutely nothing was done to fix it. The manager that rushed to re check our IDs was nowhere to be found, my food was not taken back, and it sat in front of me half eaten the rest of the meal. When the bill was brought, the red onions were an additional cost on the bill (only $1) but I had to ask her to take it off because they were never there. My boyfriend's pizza was okay, he didn't love it but still ate about half of it. I tried it after realizing my burger wasn't great, and I did not like the "white bbq" sauce. To me it was reminiscent of a salad dressing. Overall I was very disappointed with this experience at Aberrant Ales. The disorganization I observed during this meal was painful to watch as someone who has worked in both BOH and FOH of various restaurants. I probably should have spoken up more and asked for my meal to be compensated straight out, as I left barely having eaten and having paid a $70 bill for poor service and poor food. read more

Had avocado toast with egg on the Sunday brunch menu, it was only 1 piece of toast, the avocado layer was so thinly spread, could barely taste it, an egg on top and the plate was mostly arugula covering everything. You can say it was healthy, there was no flavor and so I would not recommend because you will not taste anything nor will your stomach be full. Maybe their other menu is better?!? read more

Aberrant Ales is such a cool brewery! We just love the location and overall vibe. The staff are fantastic and the beers....top notch. We were on the brew trail and stopped in for a flight. We found a few seats at the bar, spent some time learning about the beer selections and learned a lot about the brewery from the beertender. We split a flight of beers and they were fantastic. This is a great spot to hang with friends and enjoy a brew or two. We don't frequent the area regularly, but Aberrant Ales is one of our favorite breweries in the area. read more

My first experience going out after months of pandemic, at-home self entertainment! We even arrived before opening and Annette let us sit down at the outside picnic bench seating and await our first wheat ale: Natural Aphrodisiac, which Annette suggested when I requested something similar to a summer shandy. (I'm a beer NOVICE). LOVED it! Very nice notes of citrus/orange and refreshing in a warm day. (Note* the restaurant is on the correct side of the street for summer heat! They open at noon and as the sun moves, you will remain shaded at the picnic tables) Next I asked for a cider, they have one today and it was light and apple-y and crispy and also great for a warm day. I'd say their shining star is service. Annette has got this down. On $25, I left $8 and still didn't think it was enough, lol! read more

First time going here. It was a beautiful evening and for certain thought we would not get in, especially because we were a party of 6. We got right in! You could sit outside too which we normally would do. Our waitress so very friendly and helpful. I'm not a beer drinker but they have some alcohol which was a nice surprise. I had the Vinny and it was so delicious. Hubby had the OBD and he said it was delicious. It was Big! Our daughter had the California Turkey and she loved it and it was huge too! The tacos were very small portion and yes it said 2 but they were the small tortillas. Not sure how it filled up our friend. I'm not sure what the other 2 in our party had lol. Nothing comes with a side and they don't have a huge option for sides. They make a pretty decent old fashioned! The fries were so yummy. Better than average craft beer. I enjoyed every beer we sampled on our flight: West coast IPA, double IPA, porter, and stout. Food: Excellent boneless wings (and ranch!!). Lots of seating and a cool vibe. Pretty loud inside but that's as expected. Good beers that cover whatever your preferences are. We like their IPAs and cream ale. Not all beers are high in alcohol content which we like so we can have more than 1. Food is good too! I agree with other posters that the prices are a little on the high side. read more

This is one of our favorite places to go in downtown Howell! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which overlooks the Main Street area. The food here is always good! My husband and I have been many times in the last few months and tried something different and it was always good. The beer slushies are great! It was a little bit on the steep side, about $10. The Bavarian pretzels with cheese and mustard were excellent. You could tell that the cheese was not from a can like some other places. My husband's favorite food is the Alabama Slama pizza. It has delicious white bbq sauce, mozzarella cheese, and chicken. It's definitely a lot of cheese! You could probably split it for two people, but if you're hungry, then one person could easily eat it like my husband does. The e-Ratic ninja sandwich is like a BLT but also with avocado, honey and Turkey. Excellent choice for a sandwich! Make sure you get their sweet potato fries - they are great! I began coming here since they first opened a couple of years ago. I've probably been here 20 to 30 times. Until recently this has been one of my favorite brewery's and restaurants. Recently, the food quality and value for the money has steeply declined. I paid $50 for a salad, order of nacho's and 2 beers. The salad was great (they do have good salads), the nacho's sub-standard and the beer full price, during what use to be happy-hour (4:30pm). $50. Ridiculous. Disappointed. You'd think you are in Harlem, NY by the selection of music I came in with my son but the quality of the lyrics of their rap selection left me in shock. This was our second time here! Even with all this covid stuff I still felt super comfortable here! Our waiter for starters was super nice, even though it was packed! Our food was awesome, we had both the boneless chicken wings with sweet potato fries and the challenger (turkey on a panini) with a side salad! And all of the beers & ciders we had were solid! The reason for the knock off of a star is because of pricing. The beer prices were all over the place and didn't really make sense to me! The beer prices definitely went up ending with .72¢ and .47¢ which was weird to us! There was a $3 charge to upgrade to sweet potato fries and a $4 charge to upgrade to a small side salad. Then we asked for extra sauce and got another $1.50 charge! The side upgrade seemed alittle steep and I would have been fine with the sauce if we would have been told!
