Usually, choices are slim, mostly fast food. Today we were lucky, Eternity Brewking was open until 6 p.m. I dropped the idea of doing yoga and we got our butts to the place since it was 5 p.m. We kike it a lot. Service was excellent, Kylie (?) was fantastic, friendly, funny, attentive, and helpful with recommendations. She was great with all the customers. The space is open, simple, and comfortable promoting a welcoming atmosphere. Few items on the menu, are simple, and tasty. I had grilled cheese with one of the best tomato soups I had in a long time, great combo. Plenty of gooey yummy cheese and toasted crispy bread I washed that down with a flight of very interesting beers. The one that took me by surprise is When Life Gives You Blueberries. Deceiving and sneaky. My nose thought I was going to drink wine and my taste buds were surprised with the tart-sour taste nothing like a beer. My husband had the chili dog and enjoyed it very much. We had a larger group, about 12 (10 adults, 2 kids) and were seated at an "L" shaped table formed by pushing 2 differently shaped tables together, meaning half of our group couldn't see the other half without having to swing around or endure a cricked neck. Our server was pleasant, and attentive in the beginning. Before our appetizers had even arrived, we were already being asked for meal orders. Kinda felt rushed, but put our meal orders in and the appetizers came out. They were all very tasty, and the new pickle fries with ranch were very tasty. Would have been better if the silverware came out before the appetizers came, but maybe the wash washers were backed up from the all of the prom diners that were just leaving. Either way, we had a Second Lady bringing over silverware, so we had to wait to eat until she got there. Shortly after, our entrees arrived, also very delicious! I got the "Pick 2" BBQ items with 2 sides. One of my sides was incorrect, but the severs corrected it the mistake quickly. At this point, the entire table needed refills but the wait staff had completely disappeared for our half of the dining room. I observed other tables (like a couple in a booth kitty-corner from us) was looking around for assistance while I was. It was nearly 30 minutes before a server swung by again to get empty plates out of the way. I don't know if they were trying to get us to leave or what, but joke's on them, we still had presents and cupcakes to do! After our table was FINALLY cleared of enough played and empty cups to conclude our birthday celebration, we enjoyed our cupcakes from M Street Bakery. The wait staff didn't offer us any clean small plates so we had to have our deserts from their wrappers or off of our leftover dirty plates. Honestly, we could have asked for desert plates but we should have been offered them by the waitstaff. Our group explained in the beginning that we're would have separate checks, and when the checks came,it took multiple times for the splits to be done correctly, and one check had to be voided and a credit card transaction had to be refunded and Ran again because the wrong check was charged for the wrong items. I'm willing to give Block Brewing another shot, not on a holiday/school weekend. Maybe we had walked in after a HS dance tornado had just blown through, and everyone was just pooped. It just kinda felt like our whole group was kind of an afterthought and we were put in a corner: out of sight, out of mind.

I was reassured after they checked with the kitchen that most items on the menu could be modified to work within my restrictions. Based on that conversation, I felt comfortable keeping our reservation. Since we were dining with others for a birthday celebration, I had hoped the information from my reservation and phone call would have been communicated to our server so I wouldn't need to go through all of my restrictions again at the table. Instead, I had to explain everything during dinner. Because the restaurant is extremely loud and the tables are packed closely together, our server had to stand across the table from me, which meant having to discuss my allergies loudly in front of our entire party and the surrounding tables. It was an uncomfortable and awkward situation. What was most frustrating, however, was then being told that my options were essentially limited to a protein and green beans. This was a far cry from what I had been told the night before that the kitchen could modify most items on the menu to accommodate me. I completely understand that not every restaurant can accommodate every allergy or dietary restriction, and I don't expect them to. My concern is that I specifically called ahead for this reason and relied on the information I was given. Had I been told beforehand that my options would be so limited, we simply would have chosen another restaurant where I could enjoy a nice meal along with everyone else for my husband's birthday. For anyone dining with significant food allergies or restrictions, I would recommend getting very specific information about what can actually be accommodated before making a reservation.

You can tell they put a lot of care into brewing historic and traditional beer styles. My only wish is that they offered a few more non-alcoholic beverage options and some food.
