Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and you get a generous portion, which makes the price feel like a steal. My husband's grilled catfish salad was huge and genuinely delicious, not an afterthought like it can be elsewhere. Sides were a bit mixed. The mac and cheese was overdone, but the red beans and rice were excellent, full of flavor and exactly what you want alongside that fish. Only real drawback is the hours. We found ourselves wishing they were open more often because it is the kind of place you want in regular rotation. Overall, great food, strong portions, and real value. We will absolutely be back.

I love Cajun food normally but I'll be honest this really wasn't it…read more The gumbo had a weird pasty chalky taste. It wasn't like a soup how we are used to, it was sort of thick and slimy, the flavor was a little too different. 1 star dish to be honest. We threw it in the trash. The jambalaya was a little better, but it still wasn't great. It actually made it to like a 3.5 star quality dish; it was good enough to eat, so we ate this. The fried oysters were pretty good, especially when dipped in their spicy tartar sauce, 4 stars for this dish. I might actually crave this once in a blue moon. Their Mac and cheese had so much potential. It was thick and creamy how I like it, burned cheese on it was great, they attempted to put som cajun seasoning in it that you can barely taste, but the part that docked them points the most was the Mac was overcooked probably sat on a heat lamp for a very long time. The fries were soggy after only a 5 minute drive. They also use styrofoam, which I personally don't like eating from due to the forever chemicals that leach into the food when it's hot. Also after spending $40 and asking for an extra sauce I got charged a dollar. I mean okay I don't thin the side sauce was worth the dollar but also the sauce that came with it was only filled half way. I mentioned that am still I was charged the buck. The lady up front had an alright demeanor, the lady cooking in the back seemed really sweet and asked me how i found them, had a smile etc. I think they should have someone like that cashiering.

One is the darker bar area but we were seated in a room full of full length windows that opened. I had a flight of their beers and enjoyed them all. For lunch I had their red chile bbq pork sandwich while my wife had the enchiladas. The food is a mix of Southern soul food and New Mexican standards. My wife actually preferred her food here over the well regarded New Mexican restaurant we went the previous day. I really liked my sandwich with its kiss of heat.

Only the other one in the South Valley (where we never go) has them. The tv commercials didn't say that. I did let the servers know this bc I felt it was false advertising. We got a Flight of 4 different beers and "settled" on a fried fish w salad which was ok and their grilled catfish tacos which you had to eat w a fork bc they were too messy to pick up w your fingers.. They tasted ok but the salsa and a pink sauce (?) helped to give them more flavor. The atmosphere was ok and the Friday evening crowd was arriving. We ate inside and our server, Sophia, was very good. It didn't take long to get our dinners except my partner's salad took forever! The salads are included w the meals. My salad was different and good which was a Blackeye pea, corn, & more ingredients. My experience there was disappointing since I wanted ribs and not "soggy" fish tacos. I might go back for the beer only.

I try to avoid wheat as my body doesn't do well with it, I was willing to go with the breading on the chicken being wheat but the menu said nothing about being served on flour tortillas and, alas, I dd not discover this until I was safely ensconced back at home. Also, my lemonade was short a good inch from the top when I got it, which kinda felt like a ripoff. Long story short, the tacos were okay but not very spicy, no salsa served with them. But the man immediately became aggressive, threatening to have our vehicle towed, even though the lot has multiple businesses. A woman came out to try to calm him down, standing in front of him and telling him to stop. We told her that this was a great way to treat people, especially when the restaurant isn't even open yet. Her response was: "If you come back to a broken window, that's not my fault, asshole." After that, we moved our car. She continued yelling at us as we walked away. This kind of behavior is completely unprofessional & embarrassing from the owners themselves.

I ordered a full Southern meal of Catfish, fried apples, grits w butter & honey, and Loaded Hashbrown Caserole (extra cheese & bacon bits). Catfish was okay, a bit dry but not muddy so win. Now with Hashbrown Caserole it used to have bacon bits in it... this was cheese mixed hashbrowns. The extra cheese and bacon bits didn't disappoint and helped it a lot. Apples are definitely out of the can/bag. I understand Mass production and they were okay. Grits were done right. I usually have to ask 2 or 3 times for honey when I came in in years past... today waitress brought me a whole honey bear. Dan's Southern Fried Chicken was okay. He said they injected it with salt to boost flavor. Salty was the verdict - to the point he was removing the skin to reduce salt intake - and skin on fried chicken is often one of the best parts. Now hostess was a bit short with me. I give it a whatever, not in the mood and a bit grumpy, so it totally could have been me. I give it a pass. Waitress Tasha was on top of it! She was a star of the dining experience today. Tasha was quick to refill, bring us our requests, etc. She was friendly, personable and was attentive. I asked for honey- done, drank tea down to ¼ cup - filled, boxes, to go cups the whole hoopla! Thank you Tasha for great service you made my 2.5 star rating a 3.

There's this breakfast one on a green chile biscuit (a BEC on a Local) that just keeps me up at night because it's all I want! (...longing looking out the window...) These biscuits are huge in size and just overall the most buttery and perfect decadent carb. They're a huge hit with the family as well, so I come away from those markets with a batch of six Originals! I do love the instances that I can order ahead on the Rail Yards Market system and do a drive thru pick up when we can't go in person. However, that being said, when you go in person, that's when you can get your hands on some of these delectable biscuit sandwiches! The Southern Belle is another brunch favorite of mine. Fried chicken, fried spiced apples and cheddar sounds like a crazy combo, but it's the combo you never knew you were missing in your life. Get it on a Sunriser (red chile, cherry, pepper jack biscuit) to really spice up your brunch! Oh! And the biscuit and gravy....YAAAASSSS!!!! You get to choose your biscuit and get that ish smothered in a green chile sausage gravy. The best part (and this is hard to come by here in ABQ)? Your biscuit doesn't get soggy under this luscious gravy! No joke! The buttermilk biscuits have such an awesome outer butter crisp to them that they hold up to liquids without disintegrating.

Last Friday, I came in to eat with my girlfriend on our date night and was amazed at how much hadn't changed with the decor and interior, in a good way! It was exactly like I remembered it, fish tank and all, and I was very nostalgic from the get go. We wanted to get the app sampler but it didn't have the option to come with onion rings so we ordered the Spinach dip and the Onion Rings on their own. Both were fantastic choices! Very flavorful and great texture for both! We also ordered the Presidente Sangria and their most popular drink, the Painkiller. The presidente tasted more like strawberry lemonade with a slight alcohol aftertaste, so expect it to be very sweet. The painkiller was great for me, but I can see it being a very strong drink to a lot of people, it was for my girlfriend and she was fine with one or two sips max. For dinner she ordered the beer battered Fish and Shrimp platter and asked for Fries and coleslaw as her sides. She absolutely loved it, and the tartar sauce and cocktail sauces were absolutely delicious. She said it was the Best coleslaw she's ever had and wants it to be a permanent choice for her side when we come back. I ordered the New Orleans Pasta and was also very happy with my choice! Where Her food was bright, citrusy and full of texture, my dish was smoky, deep and rich as a good pasta dish should be. The sausages and shrimp were great and the chicken was a little on the dry side but I will say it made up for it in flavor. Everything totaled to just below $75, which is a great price point for us after getting two appetizers, two entrees and two cocktails. We took the leftovers home and enjoyed it even more the next day. Our server was great too, I didn't catch his name but he was attentive and always relayed any delays from the kitchen and kept us updated on anything if we were still waiting. Our server, Sabrina, passed our table multiple times but seemed confused about whether or not we were her table. Instead of checking, we were simply left waiting. Eventually, I had to get up myself and ask another employee if she was Sabrina. She wasn't, so she went to find Sabrina for us. Even after that, our server still did not come over right away. A gentleman who appeared to be a manager eventually had to step in and check on us because of the confusion. What was most frustrating was the lack of initiative. If guests have been sitting at a table for an extended period without being helped, someone should notice and simply ask, "Has anyone taken care of you yet?" Even if it isn't technically that employee's table, it takes very little effort to check rather than repeatedly walking past customers who are clearly waiting. Management should not have to step in because employees aren't communicating about whose table is whose. Better communication and more attentiveness would have made a huge difference. Unfortunately, based on our experience today, the service was very poor.
