The food was awesome I would rate it a 4+ and the service was top notch the lobster and steak was excellent

My husband and I were in date night and wanted something really nice. It was yesterday, Friday night with reservations at 8:00pm. Initial impression was entering a bar or nightclub. Aesthetically it was pleasant, but the music really didn't match "high end" steakhouse. The music wasn't bad (hip with lots of bass) but opposite of what I expected from this restaurant. I was a little challenging to converse without being by the music. Our waiter was Luke. He was really nice. Recommended their signature Mai Tai for me, my husband had a beer (btw nothing on tap). Our appetizer was the bacon which was good for those who love bacon. What my husband was frustrated with is the fact they we never saw our waiter. When he dropped off our drinks, he did circle back to ask if I liked the Mai Tia (was really good) but didn't see him much after. The restaurant was crowded, lots of empty tables, so we couldn't understand what was taking so long to place our actual entree order ... or ask if we wanted refills. When he finally came back, my husband ordered the famous coffee crusted steak. I ordered the wedges salad. When the food arrived, it was quite lovely and tasty. My husband opted for a mojito (not a signature drink but should be simple to any decent bartender). What arrived was nothing resembling a Mojito with the exception of the sprigs of mint (which my Mai Tai had). It didn't task like anything. They didn't middle the mint or even try to bruise it to extract the flavor. In the end, it was a disappointment. You're paying for the experience as well as the food. The food was great, but the experience is were this place fell short. Maybe an off night? But it's was weird to never see our waiter ... then the inability to make a basic mojito. No bread or anything while you wait (which was long for us) ... kind of lame for a high end restaurant. Bread and butter or something would've been nice. We were in town for work. Went with a group of five and got apps, drinks, steaks and sides. Service was attentive, but everything came out exceeding slow. We sat outside, which was preferred, and when we got there, crowd was very light for a Saturday night. Drinks were good pours. Nothing over the top, but good. Went with the shrimp for an app. Decent flavor. Wouldn't get it again for the cost. Grabbed the broccolini and mash for sides. Mash was actually great. Personally, went with the 20oz dry aged cowboy rib eye at medium rare (of course). Figured with several rib eye options, should be pretty good. Not even close to worth it. And I don't mind spending money on steak. Really happy I didn't do the tomahawk. First cut into the eye was medium well. As I worked towards the rib meat, the temp was closer to my order. Flavor was decent, nothing spectacular. No real sear. Of the five of us, we got three filets and two ribeyes. Three cooks were the right temp, two who got the filet thought it was great, one was good, one was ok, and mine. Only two said they would go back. After we all fought over the bill, I bought my steak and the app, and with tip I was at $160. Strikes me more of a "be seen" place than it is anything else. Won't be adding it to the list. I regret to express my dissatisfaction with our recent dining experience at 13 Prime Steak and I have to update my review because of this. Despite my husband making reservations two weeks in advance to celebrate my birthday, the evening was marred by several shortcomings in service. Considering the occasion, we had hoped for a more considerate seating arrangement that would afford us some privacy. However, we were seated in a half booth with me taking the booth seat and my husband taking the chair adjacent to other guests, including a family with children, detracting from the celebratory atmosphere we had anticipated. It should not be on the guests to awkwardly have to ask for a booth and possibly have to wait longer. It seems with the seating arrangement we had, that were treated as walk-ins, not a couple that had a reservation. The table was so small that I had to put the drink menu next to me on my seat after they brought out bread and our drinks. Initially, we felt rushed as our appetizers were abruptly taken away since we were told our entrees were ready. Our appetizers were boxed up, only for us to discover that those were not our entrees. This was followed by a prolonged wait for our correct entrees of at least 20 minutes, leaving us without anything to enjoy while waiting. While the food quality remained commendable, hence me giving this review two stars instead of one, the service left much to be desired. Waiting for 25 minutes to order another cocktail from our first order further compounded our disappointment since our waiter was with us only for the initial order and disappeared until after our entrees were served. We never had another waiter to check in on us and were only served our food by food runners. We received a complimentary dessert for my birthday which was nice, but we were rushed by our waiter to box it up after only having taken a few bites and the restaurant was still open for another hour at this point. When we got home our dessert was packed haphazardly like it was just shoved in the box in a rush. Additionally, it was disappointing to discover errors on our bill, including charges for the items we did not order when we were brought the wrong table's order, necessitating correction. If we had not looked at the itemized bill, we would have paid for the Lobster Mac and cheese and Au Gratin potatoes that was ordered by someone else plus tax. This is the price of another entree. Although there are other choices for us to available for us to patronage to celebrate a special occasion in town, we have always wholeheartedly recommended 13 Prime Steak to family and friends and have chosen to come here to celebrate these occasions and for date nights. We had actually recommended the restaurant to another couple who dined there for the first time at the same time last night, and they mentioned that they had better service and were seated in the main dining area when they had decided to go last minute and were not celebrating a special occasion as we were. I cannot continue to recommend 13 Prime Steak to friends and family who inquire about this establishment, as I have lost the confidence in that recommendation. I hope the service improves as we were pretty unimpressed last night. read more

We have been wanting to try 13 prime steak for quite some time now. My mom suggested we go there for her birthday. They take reservations on their website and they are very easy to make. I wanted to make sure they celebrated her birthday so I called the restaurant and left a voicemail. The manager text me back and assured me he would, have a dessert ready for her. I enjoyed that personalize service. Unfortunately, the service inside of the restaurant wasn't the same. Our server wasn't very personable and didn't share anything about the specials or anything about the menu. We ended up spending close to $500 including tax and tip for 4 people. I didn't think it was worth it because hospitality is huge for me. The food: we ordered the French fries as an appetizer and they were flavorless and not worth it. I ordered the seafood special which was the halibut. It was delicious and had a good crunch on the outside but very dry on the inside. The peri peri sauce was on the side (I asked for it to be on the side) it was so flavorful but very spicy). The halibut was on a bed of shaved potatoes, but it had the peel and texture as well as flavor were not there. The other two people in our party did order the steak and said it was very good and well cooked. I tried the whipped potatoes my husband had with his steak and wow it was so delicious! The drinks were ok. My mom's drink was very strong. I ordered a drink off the mocktail menu and asked them to add rum. I don't think they added rum because it tasted like juice, and I didn't see the alcohol added to our check, so that was a bit of a bummer. The desserts were actually very good. If I were to come back it would be for only that. The peanut butter pie was huge and so yummy! I also enjoyed the crème brûlée as it was a little larger than most places around here. The ambiance was a little loud actually. I expected it to be a little quieter as it is a pretty fancy steak place. But it was difficult to have a conversation there. It was beautiful inside though. The inside of the restaurant is really nice. Love the layout, lights, decor. I will say, the place was not busy but it was really loud in there. I already had a hard time listening to our table of 4's conversation, I can't imagine it if it was packed in there. The service was not great. I think if you're going to an expensive place like this you would want the service to be a positive experience. As far as the food goes, it was good. I personally don't understand the $70 value for a steak/mashed potatoes/veggie plate. But, that's a steakhouse for you. If none of these things have an impact on your time at a restaurant and you love steakhouses, absolutely this is the place for you read more

13 Prime Steak with it's combination of a welcoming low lighted ambience, attentive, courteous and professional staff, but most of all some of the most amazing cuisine on this planet. The presentation of each dish, whether it be a Starter, Entree or Dessert was presented in such a way that paid a respectful tribute to each ingredient used to each creation. The four of us began with two starters: Crispy Lobster & Honey shrimp. Both were beautifully plated and tasted delicious. We ordered four different entrees out of all the great selections, and were not one bit disappointed with a single bite. It was an evening of savory perfection. Our server Catherine was very amazing as well as the rest of the staff. She did not miss a beat on service. Refills on drinks were very consistent, as well as her friendly & gracious personality. 11/22/23 Getting food for Thanksgiving tomorrow! A medium rare Filet Mignons ordered and lobster Mac N Cheese. Jeff, the manager was nice and said it would be ready in 20 min. I went in to get it and was really excited until the service brought total disappointment. The worker at front was on the phone and really rude to me. I was pretty shocked! Why? Luckily, another worker was there and she was really sweet and tried to make up for her coworker saying she was just really busy. Wow! Not okay. Especially for the price! The other worker def made it better and was very kind and helpful with what I ordered. Paid for it and left. It's a very nice, classy restaurant with a good atmosphere and nice bar! I really wanted to find a place that had a tomahawk steak, and this place did not disappoint! It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had just the right amount of seasoning. Our server recommended the calamari for appetizer, and although I'm not a huge fan of spicy food, I really enjoyed it. Our server was also sweet enough to give us a free dessert to-go for our anniversary because we were too stuffed from the rest of our dinner. We have coming to 13 Prime since it opened 4 years ago. They always manage to impress every time we come here. We love the intimate atmosphere and the service is always top notch. My go to's are the Filet Diane and 13 Prime Burger. Tonight I decided to try their Filet special. It was delicious. A very nice 6 oz filet and fresh veggies. As a starter we had the Crispy Lobster. It is made up of bite size portion of Lobster that are fried and covered in a spicy aioli and pepper jelly. There was a bit of kick but you also got a hit of sweet. Definitely one a starter to try. My husband had the 13 prime burger and our friend ordered the Pan Seared Scallops with skillet corn sauce and jalapeño cheddar grits The lemon drops our server recommended definitely hit the spot and were very good. I've eaten at quite a few steakhouses recently, and the steak I had at 13 Prime was possibly the best. I ordered the New York Strip and Enchiladas, mainly because it came with a fried egg on top. The enchiladas had good flavor but the texture was weird because they contained cubed chunks of potato that seemed too firm. My wife ordered the Filet Diane and she thought it was very good. The modern interior and ambiance makes you forget it's located in a strip mall. The waitstaff and hostesses were all very friendly and helpful. Truly feel that this is the best fine dining place in Clovis. We started off with the Calamari and Crispy Lobster appetizers. Both were cooked perfectly, not fishy or tough. The lobster was out of this world! It is spicy but the flavor was incredible. Four of the five of us chose the Filet Diane. My father and I substituted the mashed potatoes for scalloped and are glad they we did. My mom got the lamb, which tasted great and wasn't gamy. Really, really good entrees. We finished it off with some great desserts. In the past, we've had some issues with slow service, but they were very nice and attentive this time. Then their waitress kept going in between our table and her ass on our steak in in my face . I thought this restaurant was top notch I eat a lot of steaks and by far that was not one of the best. I think we got a piece on choice t-bone instead of prime with those prices $200 dollars. However, the steak was cooked to perfection but the layer of fat on was disappointing. The wine left a bad taste in my wife's mouth and she is a Cabernet drinker. But after the meal was over we went as and ate tacos . First time going to 13 Prime tonight. 5:30 reservation, seated immediately! The restaurant is lovely, wait staff is excellent! We were greeted by every employee we passed, our delightful waiter was kind and attentive, checked on us often, but not too often. When he asked if we were celebrating anything, I told him "yes, my daughter is pregnant with my 5th grandbaby"!! We ordered the Aged prime rib ($95.00), cooked to med-well because she is pregnant. I love mine cooked med-rare, but we were sharing....so we asked for med-well. It was definitely cooked med-rare. It was not only pink, but bloody, which I love, and she couldn't eat. She got a couple tiny bites on the most outer edge, but that was it. The waiter DID ask how the cook on the steak was, we said fine, because I don't like to send food back. I don't care to be mulling over all the sides, waiting for another steak to be cooked. And... this is a STEAKHOUSE!! I would have hoped they know what temp to cook a steak the first time? They do not, at least tonight they did not. For the sides we ordered: au gratin potatoes, jalapeño cheddar grits, the shrimp appetizer and the creamy spinich.....every single item was not even "luke warm" it was no more than room temperature. Gross. I cannot stand room temperature food. The au-gratin potatoes came in a very HOT small cast-iron pan, but the potatoes were not hot at all. I feel like I can't even begin to talk about the taste, the flavor, because it way to close to cold for me. Glad we were paying attention and didn't just dig in. They ended up take the food off our table and serving it to the right table. Which I thought was a little gross. The wait was very long for our food, our server made sure our drinks were filled and made sure we were still doing good. I wish they would have offered bread and butter/ garlic olive oil or something while we were starving. The manager passed by twice and checked up on us to make sure we were doing good as well... The Mac and cheese was very cheesy and good but wayyyy too salty. It had the Italian bread crumbs topped on it but the seasoning tasted like chex mix seasoning or top ramen dry seasoning package. It gave it an interesting flavor and it was good but extremely salty. My husband's chicken "breast" meal was good and tasty when you first bite into it. But the flavors disappears the more you chew into the chicken. I'm sure the chicken was not marinated and the seasonings were just sprinkled as they cooked the chicken. The chicken was soft so the texture was good. They did use a bit much of the balsamic, maybe it was to cover the taste of the plain chicken taste. Green beans were undercooked and still very raw. By the way, this meal did not come with chicken breast.... It was a thigh quarter! :/ My filet came out well done and I asked the server if the meat is usually cooked well done. She apologized and told me that they were having issues with the kitchen and they did not make my filet medium rare like I wanted. She took my food back and I wait about 10-12 minutes for my correct order. My correct order, the filet was delicious and very soft like it was melting as I chewed. My husband said that he would order the filet instead of the chicken next time. The mash potatoes are very creamy and the peppercorn gravy was really good. Too bad they didn't give us more green beans though. It had a good flavor but just undercooked. It were still very raw. We ate it anyways. I'm sure raw is better for my health.. We ordered dessert, Capn's peanut butter pie for dessert. I guess they don't do anything special for Birthdays... but the pie we ordered was good. However, they packed our dessert to go when we had wanted to eat it there. Unsure why.... We ended up asking for forks and we ate the peanut butter pie out of the to go box. I don't think I would come back here. I was pretty disappointed especially for the type of restaurant that it is. Maybe for my next Birthday meal/experience it will be better somewhere else. read more

The table for two I though was a little small specially when you have water glasses and drink glasses on the table including your appetizer plates. Service was on spot and water was refilled at the timely manner. We ordered their popular friend lobster. They were good but I was not crazy about them at all.
