Went to 123 salon on a whim. It's down the street from my home. I called at 10:30a to see if anyone was available. To their credit, I was told to come at 11a and I was seated with someone immediately. So I appreciated there being no wait time. Unfortunately, this was probably the most sloppy dip manicure I've ever had. The shape of the nails is uneven, thick, and lumpy in parts. The nail is so sloppily done and the dip does not thin at the nail bed as it should. Dip is literally sitting on my nail bed. And there are small dips and bubbles in my dip polish. I'd rather the woman on the phone tell me there was no availability than allow such an obviously inexperienced tech to do my manicure. FYI, I DID NOT HAVE CINDY AS MY TECH. From what I could tell while sitting at the shop, Cindy is very good at her craft. If I ever go back, I'll only try Cindy. read more

I searched around for nail salons in the south loop with good reviews. I came across this one with a 5.0 rating. OMG! I learned that ratings don't tell the truth. It was recommended that I book with Jade. I booked my appointment for a no chip mani/pedi. Arrived at the nail salon and they informed me that Jade was not in today. So, against my gut feeling I decide to let someone else at the shop do the no chip mani/pedi. When I say the worse experience ever and I've been getting my nails done since age 16 years old. The pedicure was shady it was basically a lot of buffing and a polish change. No cuticle cutting or removal. Buff, salt scrub, lotion and polish. In my mind I should have left after the pedicure. However, I decided to stick around for the manicure. BOY! Was that the worse decision of my life. The person that did my pedicure handed me over to someone else. I sat in her chair at 4:30pm. At 5:35pm the young lady was still taking the no chip off my nails. Which she struggle to put acetone on and wrap my nails in foil. I should have left then. Again I decided to stick around for the end result. I asked for my nails to be cut and shaped soft square. Well it got worse, my nails were cut none of them were even. And she cut the nail on my baby finger on the left hand shorter than the right hand. In which it couldnt be fixed. So, by this time she can see the frustration in my face and decides to hand me off to someone else. She did apologize. Now this the 3rd different working on me after being her 2 1/2 hours. The guy comes over to shape what was left of my nails. But wait it gets worse. He shapes my nails as best as he could. Then he buffed my nails, sprayed alcohol to clean, polished my nails and he was done. I'm sitting still trying to figure out why the alcohol was needed because he didn't put my hands in water, remove dry skin, and clean my cuticles. None of that took place. However, he was a nice guy. Wait it gets worse at the checkout. They had the nerve to tell me they gave me a %10 discount. My bill was should have been $110.00. Instead it would be $99. I'm not sure how they received the 5.0. Maybe it was for the cleanliness of the shop and the decor. Well the staff was nice. But the service they provide is horrible. And I usually don't give anybody bad ratings. read more

I have been going to VIP nails for the last 6 years. This guy cut my toes and did a basic job with no additional attention or care. There was a 2 min massage. He cut my feet no and rid of dead skin. If you need your nails done ahead of a big function, don't book with this place. They never wrote down my appointment and didn't have anybody there to do my nails at the scheduled time. I found it on Yelp and I was super excited because they do acrylic and appeared to have a good reputation. Which makes them one of the few in the neighborhood. I called last Saturday looking to make an appointment for a full set and a pedicure for today (A Tuesday). The woman I spoke with on the phone told me they could do an 11 AM appointment and that was fine by me. She took my name and confirmed the time again. Fast forward to Tuesday at 11 AM. I walked about 20 minutes to the place. The door is locked and I'm confused because it was supposed to open at 10. A woman gets up from working on a client to come unlock the door. After about 20 seconds of confusion, she said that nobody was coming for an 11 AM appointment because it wasn't on the list. She told me I could come back in two hours once more people would be in. If this was a a busier day, I would've been out of luck. I was really looking forward to getting my nails done here. While the overall experience was one star, I'm giving them an extra star for the benefit of the doubt that they do a good job. read more

I got the Satin Ribbon color which wasn't like the swatch but I was still satisfied since I finally found a place that got my nails the shape I wanted. However the gel chipped off after 3 days on both my middle fingers and as a result, my natural nails chipped off 2 days after. I came in to get them touched up when it was suggested to get tips so all my nails were the same length. I said yes without realizing this would be an extra charge. It was $8 PER nail for just the tips and when I asked that I thought it was free, she said just the polish was. I just found it ridiculous to pay $16 for 2 nails tips when I typically will pay an additional $10 for a full set of tips on top of the service. I should of clarified if there would be an additional charge but the price itself seems silly especially since this would be under a week of getting them touched up. read more

Awful experience with Fabo. I went here because I called ahead of time and asked if they use new nail filers each time. This was confirmed over the phone. I went in and as he started doing my nails, I noticed he was using used nail filer and buffer. I asked him if it was used he denied it. Clearly, you can see it was used. He started to argue with me that it was not used. It felt so uncomfortable and inappropriate. He could have just grabbed a new set instead of becoming argumentative. Got my nails done with Ally twice and had an amazing experience both times! The first time I got a regular no-chip for Valentine's Day and she did amazing. I love how she takes her time to do your nails so they look clean and neat. You will not walk out unsatisfied for sure! The no-chip lasted me well over 2 weeks and never chipped! The second time, I got gel-x extensions done for the first time. I wanted to get a plant design done so I sent her a picture of some inspiration from Pinterest. I've been here twice. The first time I got a no chip mani. It looked great and didn't chip-- hence the second star. I came back and I had a different nail tech even though I requested the original nail tech when I made the appointment. My manicure was uneven and I had to reshape my nails when I got home. My nails looked slanted. The pedicure was awful. He was rough with my feet, and I ended up with a swollen and bleeding big toe. He also massaged my foot with a piece of someone's long hair stuck to his glove and I was so grossed out I didn't even think to say anything. read more

Cindy took great care of me today and I shared my concern of the fragile state that my nails were in due to having acrylics for the last few months. She really heard me and took great care of my nails she even helped me pick out the perfect nude color. She was very thorough and even explained to me why she was doing the things she was doing. She was very gentle and even up until the last moment she made sure that everything was to my liking. I definitely found my new nail spot as I am new to the city. i love this place! first of all, it's the only place in the south loop that applies acrylic nails, which is shocking to me! the staff is so kind. sindy almost always does my nails and she is a perfectionist. not only does she make sure that i love my nails, but her personality and customer service is outstanding! honestly, that's one of the main reasons i keep coming back. i never liked a salon so much. my boyfriend says, "are you going to get your nails done by your girl sindy today?" :) i've gotten a few different mail patterns and have gotten so many compliments! pretty much anything you're looking for in regards to mani/pedi, they can do. they are very busy, so i suggest calling ahead to make an appointment and ask about pricing ahead of time if you have any questions. i'll keep coming back!!! :) read more

These guys introduced me to gel powder(not sure if I'm using the correct terminology) vs using the dip powder. This product really lasts longer than dip. I can go a month at a time and my nails stay in perfect condition. Highly recommend trying it out. You also can change the color more frequently than dip without damage your nails or exposing yourself to a lot of acetone. read more

While I don't know his name, a male nail tech helped me. I showed him a reference photo of my inspiration, as you will see attached. My nails ended up bulgy, uneven and rushed. I was excited to try this new nail spot, given the pictures on Yelp and location. Unfortunately I won't be going back. For one I made an appointment at 1pm, was seated in the pedicure chair around 1:30pm and the girl didn't start on my feet until 1:58pm. Finally..or so I thought..until I noticed she didn't speak English well when I asked her when she was going to soak my hands to prep for my no chip manicure. So it's about 2:50 pm and she is finishing the pedicure. We go over to the manicure table and she starts prepping my hands for the soak-off/cotton balls and foil. Then she goes in the back. I thought she was taking a quick break but she didn't come back for a while. Another nail technician, saw I was just sitting, came over and started on my nails. He moved like lightening compared to the girl. I told him thank you and asked if he were doing my nails now and he said no. Then he yelled in the back to where the girl went. I told him I would like him to do my nails because I had been there since 1pm. He said ok. He did a great job and finished my nails in about 25 minutes. I'm used to getting a no chip manicure and pedicure in an about 1hr and 30 min. Note to owner: train your staff and no one likes to wait when they have an appointment. read more

I went to this nail salon to get my nails done for engagement photos. I asked for acrylic nails that were as natural looking as possible when I got home they started glowing in the dark and turned bright green. I had to redo all of my engagement photos and get a new manicure. The worst part was when I called them the manager denied that they had glow in the dark acrylic nail powder and denied providing me with a refund. She was extremely unprofessional and rude. The second I asked for almond dip nails, and she told me she couldn't do them. I came with one broken pinky nail and said that i understood that one wouldn't be like the rest. I wish I could give this establishment 0 stars. I paid $45 dollars to be treated like a set of over grown cracked acrylic tips... used, mistreated and tossed to the side. I had an appointment at 1030am for a mani /pedi... I picked my color and the technician laughed at my choice. I just brushed it off and ignored it. She started my mani, but had to redo them bc she applied too much polish and my nails started to resemble round balls of pink stubs. After an hour on a gel mani I had to leave. (Oh let me remind you that I still tipped her despite the service bc I still like to support small businesses who are still learning and have good intentions, at-least that's what I thought this establishment was... i was WRONG.) The team at 123 nail rescheduled my pedi for 3pm. I arrived at 3 and was told it would be an hour wait. I then asked to make an appointment in which they could guarantee prompt service. So I was told to come back at 5pm. Of course I arrive at 5 and was told to wait another hour. At this point I was extremely upset. They could see i was upset so they put me in the chair, trying to make me think I would be next... they went as far as placing my feet in water and said "wait 10 min". Thirty minutes of soaking in now cold water, I asked when I would be getting my nails done, and I was completely ignored. So at that point i dried my feet off and left. I WASTED my whole day trying to accommodate to their disorganized scheduling, unprofessional communication and dismissive service. When I asked for some sort of discount for the nails I paid for earlier or even a gift certificate...I was told we don't do refunds but I'll give you a discount. I asked for it in writing and Kobe the owner said no I'll remember your face. So you mean to tell me you forgot about my 2 rescheduled appointments but you will remember to give me a discount next time i show up. How unprofessional and inconsiderate!
