This place is a must-go. I've been here twice and the first time I opted for a more "American" breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cream cheese, cheddar on jalepeño cheddar bagel) which did not disappoint. The second time I ordered a more Latin American-inspired "la peluta" which was amazing as well. 11 Degrees North is a casual option that does not compromise on flavor, quality, and atmosphere. Highly recommend checking this place out! read more

11 Degrees North - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The bird of paradise sandwich was great! I'm so glad I found this place, I'll definitely be back!

Big fan of this place and it's arepas and coffees! They have a huge selection of menu items that can make it difficult to pick something but I've been here twice now and have enjoyed everything I had here. The ingredients taste fresh and they have a wide ranging selection of sandwiches. Perfect place to stop in for a quick lunch or grabbing something to go. It's not the cheapest place but I assume there is a surcharge for being a "trendy spot" where millennials can grab their fancy coffees as they seriously stare into their computers and phones! So I would be giving it 5 stars for all the above reasons... But today, unfortunately, I had a strange experience with the girl at the front who takes everyone's orders. As I walked in, she stared at me with a cold stare as I approached the front to order something. I smiled instinctively and was instead met with a sneer. I didn't let it bother me too much and waited patiently for her to come over and take my order. She took her sweet time and then gruffly asked me for my order. I smiled again, a little uncomfortable and gave my order. She refused to look me in the eyes and seemed completely annoyed to have to take my order. I walked away a little unsure if I should have got it to-go and waited for my food. I noticed that she wasn't treating the other patrons the same, there was smiles and niceties being exchanged. After I ate, I had to deal with her again and this time the cold stare had turned into a look of disgust. It made me feel uncomfortable enough to leave soon after. The three stars is for the service in essence. Maybe she was having a bad day, or maybe she just had a bad experience with someone who looked similar to me. It felt very much like isolated animosity. I don't want to assess intent, but I did happen to be the only brown person in the place during my time there. Anywho, regardless of the reason, any establishment should consider who they have at the front of a business. It can make the difference between a repeat customer or one that will reconsider their patronage. read more

I tried this place a couple times. I have tried the açaí bowl and was slightly disappointed with it. Left Coast's version of the açaí bowl was much better than 11 Degree's version. I would suggest sticking to what they are known for. Their coffee was fairly average from what I remember. I also thought the food was a little expensive for what you get. But over all, I would stop in here again to grab a quick bit on my way home! read more

Went for breakfast. Portions were small but priced accordingly. Nice little spot, would go back to try arepas

I love this little neighborhood coffeehouse! The Caribbean iced coffee is my favorite and the food selection is fantastic. Super charming and a great place to relax for an afternoon with a book or with friends. read more

Such a great spot! Cute window seats, great service, and fun music playing. I've been a few times and absolutely love the Caribbean Coffee . Yum! All the food is delish but my favorite is the Eggie Bowl. The small size is a ton of food and perfect on a rainy morning. Can't wait to stop by again soon (with a bottle of wine since it is BYOB). read more

11 Degrees North - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

One of the best kept secrets of Chicago! Almost afraid to share because it might become too busy! This family owned, Venezuelan cafe has these amazing sandwiches called "arepas" and they have a million flavors! Plus their coffee is delish and the people serving it are super nice! It is definitely a go to in boys town. read more

I absolutely love the food and lattes here but the people behind the desk are not welcoming whatsoever. I really should have rated this place a 1, but I love the food. I thought the first 2 times maybe it's just a bad day or maybe I came in right before close but I don't think that's the case after today's visit. I walk in, no hello as per the usual, then wait at register to be spoken to. The person walks up and still no hello. "What would you like" that's it. No smile nothing. Point of this is, is I don't feel welcome anytime I come here and still wonder why I still support this place. The end. read more

Delicious arepas! I've been looking for a good arepa place near me ever since the one I used to go to closed and this does the trick

Attention GLUTEN FREE FOLKS!!! This place has it is style. I seldom found gluten free to be very enjoyable. Their buns are made with corn flour. If the menu had not said Gluten free I would not have guessed. What a pleasure. Their coffee is coffee flavored instead of charcoal flavored. It was a real pleasure. It is not cheap but not platinum either. read more

It's probably a good thing this place isn't near me because I might be there all the time. Seriously delicious food. Go try it.

My fav arepa go to!also a great study place/work place. Amazing menu! The Lox Arepa is a must try. read more

Quiet and adorable, this place is fantastic! The coffee is good but the arepas are WONDERFUL! I've been here a couple times now and have loved everything I've gotten. The Pelua and Tropical have been my favorites. Plus, the tables have chalkboard paint on them so you can have a blast playing tic-tac-tow or just doodling while you wait for your food read more

Best bagel sandwiches! I've tried many restaurants' bagel sandwiches and nothing can beat this place's bagels. I have yet to try other items off their menu though. I took a star off because I think they have the potential to either expand their dining area or redesign it to make it look more modern/sleek. read more

Arepas are richly full of flavor and yet still make you feel healthy?... The ambiance is super chill, just like you've walked into a tiki hut in the middle of New York City. Grab a coffee, fire up your laptop, and draw something eye catching on their genius blackboard tables. Totally cravable and worth the visit. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I order from here almost every week. The smoothies are very tasty and filling. The sandwiches are delicious, as well. My favorite item on the menu, by far, is building my own bowl! The ingredients are always very fresh, and the garlic & cilantro sauce is to die for! I really enjoy having healthy options right down the street from where I work. Delivery is always quick and easy. I've picked my order up a few times and the young woman and man, who I believe own the place, are extremely kind and accommodating! I will continue to order from here and suggest it to friends & family. read more

Maybe good for coffee. Slow service. Ordered an arepa and it took over 15 mins (in a place that looks to have fast service). No available tables...everyone there seems to be working on their laptops and having a coffee but nothing else. read more

Super good sandwiches and arepas (gluten free). Reasonably priced and delicious. Highly recommended!!

This place is awesome. AMAZING breakfast biscuits with fun variations abound. Try the cheesie biscuit for a hint of jalapeño spiciness with your morning bfast sammy! read more

This is a great local spot to pop in for for a quick drink or a bite to eat. The staff is very friendly, especially the girl with the purple hair. I came in one day and spent a while looking at the menu, and she was quick to help me and her recommendation was great! Will definitely continue to pop in and support. read more

This is probably my favorite coffee shop. It's a very unassuming place, a real hidden gem. They have kombucha on tap which was delicious. They also have cold brew coffee on tap. They have a variety of delicious Venezuelan arepa sandwiches which are gluten free. I'm a vegetarian and had the Palm Shade and my daughter had the Bird of Paradise both were delicious. The WiFi login and password were prominently displayed. My daughter was working on some final papers for school and I read a book. We sat in a comfortable bench seat and table at the window. Everyone working there was very kind and welcoming. I will be back on my next trip to Chicago. read more

I've been here 10 times since I discovered this place 2 weeks ago! In addition to a very friendly staff, they have TONS of gluten free options on the menu. They are not shy about packing on homemade guacamole in their arepas. They also have THE BEST matcha lattes I've ever had. I'm so glad I discovered this place. read more

Walked in right off the street. Great atmosphere, unique menu of Venezuelan based sandwiches and smoothies. Would definitely come back for lunch another day! read more

This is a great local cafe. Staff is friendly and food is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Stuffed arepas. What an amazing concept! I thought I wasn't a fan of arepas, but I came to eat here twice. Ordered first their lox and avocado, so good! Fresh tasting salmon. Next day I ordered the oven breeze which comes with shrimp, avocado and cucumber. I devoured it. And their ice matcha latte was spot on. Definitely a go to spot for breakfast or lunch. read more

As a New Jersey transplant who is highly critical of all bagels, this was the best bagel sandwich I have had in Chicago so far!! We got the Porkie and the Santa Monica on everything bagels and both were excellent. read more

I love this place and go about 5x a month. I've had their smoothies, arepas, bagels, and matcha. Everything is uber delicious and the staff is so nice. I'm vegetarian and they do a great job of augmenting some of the meat options in the arepas to fit my needs. Highly recommend a visit here!! read more

2nd time back and it's even better than the first. Ordered the Havana as a "quick grab" bite for lunch. While they got it to me in minutes, the care and craft that goes into these sandwiches are anything but "quick". With melt in your mouth meats and sauces out of this world - be prepared for an epic food coma that will have you begging for more! read more

I decided to try a new spot today and came across this place by the 5 star reviews. Let me tell you it definitely didn't disappoint. It's a super chill and cute cafe with great service, reggae music playing, and fantastic food. I tried the recommended Birds of Paradise arepa, which to my pleasant surprise was gluten free. I also had a coconut milk cappuccino that she added some of their house toasted coconut on top of for an added touch. One of my new favorite cafes for sure. read more

Yesss I'm so excited to have found my new favorite breakfast spot. I like a good coffee and healthy, light food, and my boyfriend likes something filling and comforting, and it's rare that something checks all out boxes so well. Fun music and vibe too. Try the arepas and you won't be disappointed, but there are also delicious egg/bacon breakfast sandwiches on a bagel or biscuit if you prefer something more classic. read more

My go-to neighborhood spot for my morning coffee! I go for a simple iced latte, but honestly any drink they make with those coffee beans is worth the trip in. Sometimes if it's closer to lunchtime, the smells from the kitchen alone will make me bring an arepa home(try the Bird of Paradise) which never disappoints! The staff is also incredible, very friendly and informative and happy to give you a recommendation if you're not sure what to order! read more

Loved it, loved it! Order anything on the menu and you will be very happy and very full! Great, regular coffee. Maybe next time, I'll try an espresso shot! read more

Ate breakfast at this place every morning while visiting Chicago! Amazing sandwiches, coffee, and fresh juices. It's BYOB so we even brought champagne and had mimosas with some of their fresh juices to celebrate one morning. The kindest woman and her husband own the spot, and its just so warm and welcoming. I wish they would bring one to LA! Thank you for the hospitality! Will be back again soon :) read more

Deeeeeliiiiiiishes!!!!!!!! Omg a new obsession! The shredded beef, plantain arepa is sooooo good! The beef so tender and seasoned beautifully. The mixtures of flavor just burst in your mouth! Doesn't need the cheese though I got it once with and once without the cilantro garlic sauce on the side. Love love this sandwich! Get one! read more

Growing up in a South American household arepas became a staple in my diet. This place did not disappoint my craving for a bit of comfort food. I ordered a fish bowl from here recently and although it was tasty, the portion was super small. I usually don't eat a lot at lunch and this was exceptionally small. I'm sure I'd give it another shot but I'd definitely order a side or a larger bowl in the future. read more
