Friendly place-- good food. Always prompt. I ordered a caramel macchiato from here, and a number of arepas (they are all good!)

So now that it's been a while I figured I'd update my review. 11 Degree North is, hands down, the best cafe in the city in my opinion. Every single sandwich I've tried here is outstanding. I stop in here at least once a week to get my Arepa fix, but the two pretzel bun sandwiches (Caribbean Chicken, Island Pork) are equally tasty. This place has arguably the best coffee I've tasted, and should be dominating the Starbucks across the street. Not to mention their amazing Arepas, bagel sandwiches, and Pretzel Bun sandwiches. Definitely going to be getting my arepa fix on a regular basis read more

I work right around the corner from 11 degrees, so has to check it out. I got the bird of paradise and it was SO GOOD! Perfect portion size. I didn't feel over full after finishing it. Staff was incredibly nice and helpful! The atmosphere was also quaint and cute. Definitely recommend! read more

Phenomenal cafe and restaurant. The inside has a very relaxed vibe. Everything on the menu looks great. We had the bacon and egg bagel, delicious , and fruity biscuit. The biscuit is adorable and very tasty. I would absolutely recommend this place. read more

Very comfortable place, the environment is peaceful and nice! The Caribbean Lemonade (Papelon) was delicious and super refreshing, perfect for this weather! The staff is really friendly! I will definitely be back! read more

I had a bagel with lox. It was an everything bagel, the bagel was really good. It didn't have any salt on it so I'm not sure if that is really an everything bagel. Oh well. There was a good amount of lox which was nice. With my bagel I got a cup of coffee. It was pretty good and the price was excellent. I really like the interior of the cafe, very simple but well thought out. I'll def be back when I'm in the area. read more

We tried the Ocean Breeze and Bird of Paradise and loved the unique arepa bread! Will definitely be stopping back in to try more of the menu. read more

I just stopped in for breakfast with a friend and I loved it! The cafe is really cute and has a nice atmosphere. The person at the counter was very nice too. I was really craving biscuits so I went for the Eggie which was delicious. My friend had the seafood arepa and enjoyed it. There were a ton of Vegetarian options from arepas to buddha bowls. I will definitely be back again if I need to grab a quick and yummy bite! read more

I stopped in after I saw a sign outside advertising their Eggie sandwich with a 12oz coffee for a dollar more. It was a fabulous experience. The lady behind the counter was very inviting and helpful. I had the option to get my coffee hot or cold, I choose cold. I didn't need to add anything to it. It was delicious. The environment is beautiful and there is a little table with water and water with strawberry. I never had water with strawberries before, it was marvelous. I didn't want to leave. I will definitely be back. read more

Had the Caribbean iced coffee and the first sandwich on the board. So, so good. Go now.

For the gluten free crowd, this is the kind of place made for us. All too often, gluten free breakfast options seem like an afterthought, but that's definitely not the case here. The arepas menu is extensive and full of creative combinations. There's actually more arepas to choose from than biscuit sandwiches. I'm allergic to pork, so I was a little concerned my choices would be limited due to that, but I quickly realized I'd have to come back because there were so many to choose from. I went with La Pelua after asking the barista for his favorite non-pork arepa. A few minutes later, my arepa came out hot and fresh. The beef was tender and juicy, and the plantains were just right. The hot sauce they have on the tables is great too. (I assume it's made in-house.) I actually meant to ask if they sell it because it's the perfect breakfast hot sauce. Even if you're not gluten free, get the arepas. I can't wait to come back and try the some of the others. No frills here, just really great authentic flavors. read more

Amazing coffee shop - both the Rosemary Honey latte & Almond Butter Nutella latte are divine! Arepas are great for breakfast or lunch; multiple flavors to choose from (and gluten free)! Great neighborhood coffee shop, I recommend to everyone whether for takeout or if you need a place to work online for a bit. read more

Perfect place to grab a drink and get some work done! Vanessa and the crew are super welcoming. I love their coconut smoothie!!

Great place for a tasty, reasonably priced cup of coffee. Arguably an improvement over Dollop, which was one of my go-to shops. Food looks awesome, so I'll have to try it next time. A welcome addition to East Lakeview. read more

I live at this place. The owner, team members and quality of product are all absolutely top notch. 11 Degrees is a hidden gem for food as well. If you haven't had there arepas then you probably living under a rock. I order their mini arepas by the triple dozen. You cant miss them if you are walking down Belmont so dont miss out - get in there and get yourself some dope grub and cold brew. Cheers to a great establishment! read more

Love this place! The coconut drinks are amazing and Vanessa is so nice. Great ambience, highly recommend!

The arepas are super delicious. I've had the Take It Easy, La Pelua, Bird of Paradise, Palm Shade and Ocean Breeze. There are a lot more arepas that aren't listed on their website. I want to eat them all, every day, forever, and I want to be buried with one someday. But I have to take a long bus ride to get there. Ironically my favorite was the cheapest one, Take it Easy. One time, I got one to go and by the time I took the 77 bus home then walked 5 blocks, the darn thing was still hot/warm! I want to try the multitude of smoothies and coffees eventually. The only other thing I've had there was a chocolate gluten free vegan donut (don't get it). read more

Great arepas and coffee/teas. Love the Santa Monica Arepa for Breakfast. Definitely worth checking out. Been here 3x in the past 10 days.

Don't just come for the coffee. Make sure you try their arapas or a bagel sandwich!! Would definitely come back.

It's so nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood! I haven't tried much on the menu because I loved what I ordered so much the first time that I've gotten in the following 2 (or 3) times I've gone! This includes: -the Cocada shake: sort of like a horchata but more coconutty and you can make it caffeinated if you want (which I do) -the smoked salmon arepa. I had never had an arepa before I ate here and it's a new favorite. It's kind of like a crispier thinner pita bread. Bonus: it seems to be a great spot for studying/ reading. It's usually fairly quiet and has a relaxed, beachy vibe. read more

Loved the homemade bread and the women working was so nice and passionate! I loved how healthy and fresh everything is! Great lunch spot

So went in today as I've always wanted to try Arepas! The place is small and intimate. A little loud, but if you know Venezuelans, then you totally understand. You feel like a friend right away. I have to say, the arepas were fantastic and the coffee was excellent. Great little find with excellent service. read more

This is a very special place! I am blown away by their food and they have my favorite coffee, too. I just ordered the Santa Monica - it's the type of sandwich that is so tasty you can't even wait for it to cool down. No joke I burnt my fingers cuz I was not patient enough to wait like 10 seconds longer for it to cool. Also the people working here are kind and wonderful! If you want a quick bite or tasty coffee or amazing smoothie, you must check out 11 Degrees! read more

The food and drinks are really unique, and there are so many options available on the menu to try. I had a biscuit sandwich and the Caribbean Iced coffee, both of which were great. I will definitely be coming back soon read more

This little restaurant/coffee shop/sandwich shop offers more than you might realize. It's perfect for coffee, breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon smoothie. Do give it a try. I would love to see this small business thrive. read more

I ordered the beef arepas. Asked for sauce on side. My friend ordered a biscuit sandwhich. Both sandwiches were made to order, nice and warm and flavorful. read more

Great Arepa sandwiches. Excellent breakfast bowls. Nice coffee options. Small coffee shop with some seating. Pretty basic interior. Very nice staff reach time I have visited. If you want an interesting and tasty sandwich or breakfast option to go or for quick done in, this is a great spot. read more

As a Venezuelan I know about a Arepas and let me tell you that these guys are no joke, are the BEST AREPAS in town. I've tried almost every dish in their menu and one is better than the other. The attention is good, the place is clean, pretty and comfy. Good coffee. I travel all the way from the northwest part of the city to enjoy this treat at least once a week! read more

11 Degrees North is a local gem. The atmosphere is chill and the food is fresh and outstanding. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a quick bite to eat. The arepas are to die for and the smoothies are delicious. Treat yourself. read more

Update: went back today and got the La Pelua arepas sandwich (shredded beef, cheese, plaintains, garlic sauce) and a mango smoothie and it was as good as I hoped it would be! Truthfully it wouldn't have been hard to please me on this one, since I love plaintains in all their forms (jibaritos are my jam) but it was very, very tasty. The only problem now is I'll have a tough time deciding between a bagel sandwich and an arepas sandwich every time I go back! read more

This place gets an A+ from me. I had to meet a client here and he introduced me to this joint. Great atmosphere for a lunch meeting. It was a little later in the afternoon and I wasn't super hungry so I had the Caribbean chicken sandwich. It was delicious. The best part of the meeting (besides getting the sale) was their coffee. In my opinion its superior than most coffee chains. I just wish i lived closer so i can get it every morning. read more

11 Degrees North makes my favorite breakfast sandwich in Lakeview (and possibly all of Chicago), the Cheesie Biscuit. I can't really speak for any of the other menu items because I am usually too busy reordering the Cheesie Biscuit whenever I stop by or order delivery. The cold brew is delicious too. The Cheesie Biscuit sandwich will not disappoint you! read more

LOVE this place. Everything on the menu is delicious and reasonably priced and the service is always lovely. The coffee is great too. A great weekday meeting spot! read more

Stumbled on this place on our way to a different breakfast place. The arepas drew me in. So glad we stopped here! I had the Havana ($7.50) and a cold brew ($3.25). Havana was like a breakfast version of a Cuban sandwich, Venezuelan style. Had to eat it in two sittings. So rich. Coffee was great too. Such a unique and delicious place. Very reasonable prices. Will be back! read more

Really good arepas. Comparable or even better than bienmesabe! The sauce on the pabellón is amazing.

I've been ordering food from this place for the past six months, and quite frequently I might add. And in the beginning it was amazing. Every drink I ordered was blended nicely and tasted how it should. Every food item had good portions and excellent taste, but then after a few months things started to go downhill. Every smoothie we ordered was just not made very well in comparison to before, or we would get the wrong ones with no explanation. And the food has gotten quite lackluster. the portions are half what they used to with more fillers like cheese and guac then anything else. They also have this weird thing I've noticed now. Where if you order something like, a bacon+egg+cheese bagel, and they run out of bacon. They still send you the sandwich. without telling you or giving you an option to cancel. Like thanks for charging me for something I didn't want. But I don't know what happened. If its new employees or management. Cause this used to be my number one breakfast spot. Not anymore. read more

Went here a few days ago and it's pretty good, but definitely a bit pricey for what you're getting with certain things. I ordered the build your own bowl (fruity) and the fish bowl--total for both being just under $20 even with my $2 Yelp coupon. 1. Fishy bowl -- well-constructed, made with care and well-balanced flavors/decent amount of fish/shrimp. Those were all pros. The shape of the bowl was a bit strange to me, as it's one of those big bows that have the funny tilted opening. Plus, I have the sneaking suspicion it was 16oz as it states, but more like 10-12oz? Having gotten pretty good at determining 1lb of food weight before putting it on the scale (when I used to go to Whole Foods), that's just my hunch. :). Even so, I wish it'd been 8-9 vs. so close to 10. But, I also the location costs also attribute to the higher prices you'd get elsewhere. 2. My build a fruity bowl definitely didn't feel like a pound, and this is where I can say it was priced too high for what it was. And I didn't taste any of the chia pudding I asked for in it, as well as the fruit being room temp rather than chilled or from the fridge as I was expecting on such a hot day. Still, it was nicely presented, only I don't think I'd go there for that again. It's just not worth paying $10 for fruit and granola, when all the ingredients in the bowl end up only being around $2-3 at most. I'd say $5-6 would be a fair price. I'm still giving this place 4 stars, since you can't do 3 1/2 stars on Yelp, and the people working there were genuinely nice, but not in your face about it. It's just a pleasant, no stress experience. Prices will make it a once in while place for me though. :( I know the trend these days in certain areas of the city are to see how much they can charge customers willing to pay 5-15 for a SMOOTHIE or some other kind of fruit mixture, but C'MON PEOPLE! STOP DOING THAT! Most of the time it's not even organic, and you'd sell more and make more if you didn't upcharge so much! That's one of my food gripes--and much as I miss Jamba Juice, I gotta say they started a bad trend of overcharging for smoothies and fruit bowls. Please stop this! You'll sell more and make more money, friends, and customers if you stop ripping people off! Thank you. read more

Excelent food, I really love their arepas are make at the moment. They have diferent kinds of flavor and also have bagel, biscuit, coffe and smothies. read more

By far the best coffee in the area!! The owners really know how to care for the drinks! Really happy this place opened up right by work - so much better than Starbucks, & with the family feel that adds so much. The food is out of this world as well: definitely try the fruitie biscuit - always goes down better with four shots of espresso over ice! ;) read more

This place is adorable and everything they serve is delicious! They have an extensive menu and they are very helpful if you need help deciding what to order. You won't be disappointed in this place! read more
